[VERY SAD] ‘The Neighborhood’s Marty and Malcom Spin-Off Series Are CANCEL, CBS has officially announced.

The cast of 'The Neighborhood' in the Season 7 finale.

The Neighborhood won’t be expanding its boundaries any further, at least not for now. Two spin-offs of the long-running sitcom were in development, including one centered on a new character named Francois, a.k.a. Crutch, and another focused on fan-favorite brothers Marty and Malcolm Butler.

The former, which previously cast Tracy Morgan as its titular lead, has already been ordered to series at Paramount+. Unfortunately, the latter did not receive the same fate, as CBS has officially announced it will not be moving forward with the project. The news comes as the network continues to apply finishing touches to its programming lineup for the 2025–2026 TV season, which will include The Neighborhood Season 8, announced as the final outing for the beloved sitcom.

While news of the Marty-and-Malcolm spin-off’s cancellation is sure to disappoint fans eager for more antics from the beloved brothers, it doesn’t mark the end of the road for the duo.

Marty and Malcolm will be back in action in The Neighborhood Season 8 as CBS finalized new deals with Spears and McKinney, as well as fellow series regulars Cedric the EntertainerMax Greenfield, Beth BehrsTichina Arnold, and Hank Greenspan for the show’s eighth and final season.

Additionally, with a new spin-off already ordered, starring Morgan as Francois “Crutch” Crutchfield, there’s a strong possibility that the beloved brothers could remain part of The Neighborhood universe, even after the original series wraps next year.

After all, Crutch is the uncle of Marty and Malcolm, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine the brothers popping up in Crutch for a visit to Harlem, where the new show is set.

For sitcom fans craving fresh stories on CBS, the network has also given a pilot order to DMV, a workplace comedy starring Mean Girls star Tim MeadowsThe Neighborhood is available to stream on Paramount+. Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite shows.
