Season 4 of Ghosts has wrapped but there are 8 Biggest Unanswered Questions & Mysteries
8 Biggest Unanswered Questions & Mysteries After The Ghosts Season 4 Finale

Season 4 of Ghosts has wrapped, with some major story line payoffs completed, new characters introduced, and one lost certain thing that took Sasappis over 500 years to lose. Pete and Alberta are charting a new course together, potentially, as the new couple of Woodstone, Isaac and Sam’s book is ready to be published, and Jay’s restaurant, Mahesh, is ready to reopen and getting new publicity, albeit with potentially deadly results.
However, there are multiple unanswered questions and mysteries left from season 4 and before, and us Ghosts fans are ready for some answers in season 5. Heading out of this season, we’re asking, and exploring eight questions and mysteries that still remain at Woodstone Manor, some of which could have consequential, and deadly, ramifications, and could change the landscape of the show entirely.
1 How Did Sasappis Die?
When Will We Know What Happened To Him?

Outside of being one of the oldest (known) ghosts on the property of Woodstone Manor, Sasappis is also the last spirit that we do not have the definitive story on his death. With Hetty’s major reveal in season 3 during the search for the missing Flower, Sasappis remains the last holdout on death explanation, and while he’s now officially lost the one thing he had waited 500 years to do, we still have more questions than answers.
With almost all the spirits having revealed their fates and their demises early, save for Hetty’s reveal in season 3 and the mystery of Alberta’s death that drove fully through season 2, and while it feels like we’re overdue for this explanation, it’s possible that the story becomes another driver through season 5, or even season 6. Sasappis’ death story could be utilized as a vehicle to continue his new relationship with Joan, the other ghost who can cross the boundaries for an indefinite period of time.
2 Will We See Chris, The Parachuting Stripper, Again?
Last Seen Leaving Woodstone By Parachute

The newest spirit on the Woodstone grounds, Chris, was the catalyst for Isaac leaving Nigel at the altar at the end of season 3, as Isaac felt he needed to explore his new reality in the afterlife more before he committed to someone for (literal) eternity. After Chris died by crashing through the roof of Mahesh after Sam set him up to be the bachelorette party’s stripper in episode 15, Isaac finds that he has less in common with Chris than he thought, with Chris eventually taking off into the sky to see the world in the afterlife.
Chris was a central point in the demise of Isaac and Nigel’s relationship, and Nigel seemed to take great pleasure in seeing Chris attach to him more than Isaac, but their stories still feel incomplete, especially as Chris is also bound to the boundaries of Woodstone, even with his parachute allowing him to fly freely in the sky.
3 Will Carol Interfere With Pete and Alberta?
A New Love Triangle – Flower Will Be Happy

The biggest secondary story line in season 4 was the love story between Pete and Alberta, and in a “will they, won’t they” plot line, their feelings for each other were finally revealed, and the two shared a kiss at the end of the episode. Although the ending of the story didn’t go exactly the way we thought it would, it’s still the completion of a season-long story that brought the characters together for more sparks to fly through season 5.
Carol, Pete’s unfaithful wife who has an affinity for donut holes, died on the grounds of Woodstone after choking on hard candy during episode 4 of season 3, and while she was unfaithful to Pete in life, her feelings for him could be rekindled seeing him happy and building a new (after)life with someone else. She wasn’t featured in a major way through season 4, but the potential is there to see Carol playing a part in this romance story in season 5, and the gloves would be off for the love and affection of Woodstone’s leading bachelor.
4 Who Else Is In The Dirt?
Could There Be Anyone Else More Terrifying Than Patience?

During episode 1 of season 4, a new character was introduced: Patience, the Puritan who was left behind in the dirt for hundreds of years after Isaac sneezed and went to cover his mouth, losing her in “the dirt” in the process. When she re-emerged, the basement ghosts offered Isaac to her at the end of season 3, not realizing that she’d take him hostage into the dirt, and set up the first major driving plot point for season 4.
Patience indicated that she’d returned to the dirt “with the others,” startling the other spirits who perhaps did not realize that there were others in the ground who had yet to find their way out. Teasing that there are other spirits on the property, ones with the potential to be more terrifying than Patience herself, will likely be part of the season 5 build, especially after her embarrassing exit from Sam and Isaac’s book launch party.
5 What Will Patience’s Revenge Look Like?
She Waited A Long Time For Isaac, Jay Should Be Worried
Patience wasted no time showing the rest of Woodstone’s inhabitants that she meant business, and after making it super weird for Sam’s parents in episode 2, she promised to return to the dirt, only to return to try and stop the “evil” of the book launch party. After Jay thought quickly and turned her ghost power – making the wall bleed – into something that seemed like part of the show, she stormed out of the restaurant angrily, possibly to return for another lesson next season.
Patience is no stranger to revenge, waiting hundreds of years to exact hers on Isaac who inadvertently left her behind in the dirt, so it’s not out of the whim of the possibility that she will be back to make everyone pay. As we find out during the shocking conclusion of the season finale, Jay has sold his soul to the devil by signing Elias Woodstone’s “publicist contract”. Patience could be swayed by Elias in her quest to undo Jay’s wrongs towards her, but it’s more likely she’ll bring the inhabitants from the dirt with her, whoever they might be.
6 Can Jay Save Himself From Elias?
Speaking Of Jay Being Worried, How Did He Not Read The Contract?

Jay made a major mistake at the end of season 4, signing a contract (apparently without reading it) that sold his soul to Elias Woodstone, and effectively the Devil, in exchange for major publicity for his restaurant, Mahesh. Elias has shown to the other ghosts that he got the soul he said he would, and now the spirits and Sam have to find a way to save Jay before it’s too late.
At present, it doesn’t appear that Jay has a way out of this agreement with Elias, and his soul is now firmly secured for the Devil, and our wayward travelers will have to think quickly and efficiently through season 5 if they want to bail Jay out of this mess. Whether they can find a way to void the contract, or one of them sacrifices themselves in place of Jay, season 5 will be a perilous one for him until they can find a workaround or a way out, hopefully before it’s too late.
7 What If Jay Actually Dies?
Could Set Up An Interesting Story Arc Through The Season

As the spirits and Sam work to undo what Jay has done, Elias has already told Jay that his time is limited, trying to kill him with a chandelier at the end of the season finale. It’s entirely possible that they will find a way to make it happen and save him in the nick of time… but what if they can’t, and Elias does succeed in killing Jay?
A swerve of some kind to take Jay’s soul without killing him off for good would make for an interesting story arc, hopefully one that involves Pete this time around.
Fans would likely rejoice that Pete and Jay finally saw each other, as Jay missed out on meeting Pete when he possessed Jay’s body in episodes 8 and 9, but the joy would be short-lived with the reminder and remembrance that Jay is actually dead, for good. While it’s unlikely that this is the outcome we’ll see with season 6 in tow, a swerve of some kind to take Jay’s soul without killing him off for good would make for an interesting story arc, hopefully one that involves Pete this time around.
8 Are The Main Ghosts Ever Going To Get Sucked Off?
No One Has Transitioned Since Season 3 (If We’re Not Counting The Snail)
The ghosts of Woodstone Manor have all been, for one reason or another, trapped in this level of Purgatory that doesn’t allow them to move on into the afterlife, and their ultimate goal throughout the series is to eventually transition out of eternity on the property. As we’ve only seen two ancillary characters get sucked off into the afterlife, we haven’t seen any of the main ghosts come close to this opportunity, and it seems overdue for some of them.
In this season, the most obvious choice for the suck off would be Trevor, who not only forgave himself for leaving his dog, Bucky, behind, but also found out that he was a father, and that his daughter was raised by the man who Trevor gave his pants and boxers on the night he died. Other ghosts on the property have the opportunity to move on as well, but if we continue to see growth for the characters in the way Trevor experienced in season 4, we may see the transition of one of the main ghosts to their final eternal resting place.
