Fans Relieved to See Reba McEntire’s Positive Post After Losing Stepson Brandon Blackstock: PHOTO
Fans were relieved to see Reba McEntire having a little fun in a post she shared on August 21, 2025 — two weeks after “The Voice” coach lost her stepson, Brandon Blackstock, at age 48. McEntire shared a photo of her and her longtime love, actor Rex Linn, backstage with country star Kenny Chesney after seeing one of his residency shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas. However, the photo was two months old.
McEntire captioned the post, “Never thought I’d go to the beach inside a sphere in Las Vegas but thanks to my friend @kennychesney I sure did 🏝️”
The photo was actually from June, when the couple attended Chesney’s show, but McEntire’s first since sharing a tribute to Brandon on August 12, whom she called her “stepson/eldest son.” Brandon, who died after a three-year battle with melanoma, was the son of McEntire’s ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock, to whom she was married from 1989 to 2015. McEntire had remained close with Brandon, who was also the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson.

Reba McEntire Will Be Back on Set This Week in Los Angeles
McEntire has a busy week of filming ahead in Los Angeles. According to ticketing outlet 1iota, she will be on the set of her NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place,” filming on August 26.
On August 28 and 29, McEntire is due on “The Voice” soundstage, where she’ll be taping the Knockout Rounds for season 28 with Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé. She also filmed Battle Rounds earlier in the month, shortly after Brandon’s death.
On August 18, “The Voice” host Carson Daly told Us Weekly that the show’s cast and crew have been supporting McEntire and Clarkson, who’s been filming episodes for 2026’s season 29, through their grief.
“It’s been tough,” Daly told the outlet. “We all knew Brandon well, and we are a family. I was working with (Reba) last week, everything was fresh, so we’ve just been sending our prayers and support to them. It’s a terrible situation.”
“It’s really no different than what you would do for your family members,” Daly continued “You let them know you’re there, you’re praying for them [and] you’re giving them space at the same time.”
