It’s almost time to return to The Gilded Age.
HBO’s Emmy-winning period drama, The Gilded Age, returns — once again transporting viewers to 1800s New York for another season of scandal, gossip, gorgeous gowns and magnificent mansions.
Season 2 ended in December 2023, and the actors were happily surprised when the series was renewed for another season.
While speaking with PEOPLE in August 2024, Carrie Coon said that returning to play Bertha Russell was “chiefly exciting because we didn’t think we were getting a season 3. The people watching the show really did save it.”
“It’s exciting because we have dispatched with all of the exposition, and now it’s all storytelling, we don’t have to introduce anyone really anymore,” the actress continued. “I was really shocked by a couple of the twists we have coming. So that was thrilling. They keep surprising me.”
With that, here’s everything to know about season 3 of The Gilded Age.

Yes, a trailer for The Gilded Age season 3 was released on May 1. Love and marriage are the focus of the preview, as Bertha has her sights set on marrying off her daughter, Gladys (Taissa Farmiga).
“Marriage is a real opportunity. You can influence politics, change events. You can have powerful, interesting lives,” Bertha says in the clip.
As for Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson), she tells her family, “Some people want to marry for love. I know I do,” and Aunt Agnes (Christine Baranski) replies, “I don’t understand.”
The drama will feature characters weighing the pros and cons of listening to their heads or hearts. “In the new world, love can conquer all or cost you everything,” reads the trailer’s description.

“Bertha sets her sights on a prize that would elevate the family to unimaginable heights while George risks everything on a gambit that could revolutionize the railroad industry,” reads the official synopsis.
As for the Brook-van Rhijn house across the street, “Agnes refuses to accept Ada’s new position as lady of the house.” Meanwhile, Peggy might fall in love again after meeting a doctor from Newport, but his “family is less than enthusiastic about her career” as a journalist.
In February 2025, when asked about season 3, Jacobson teased to PEOPLE, “There’s a lot of plot twists. It’s gonna keep you on your toes.”
