Is Simon Cowell a married man?

This seems to be the consensus after Cowell’s fiancée Lauren Silverman created a new Instagram account, adding his last name to her handle. According to People magazine, Silverman has deleted her old account and is now using the handle “LaurenMichelleCowell.”

Parade has reached out to a rep for Cowell for comment.

The change comes four years after Cowell proposed to Silverman on the Caribbean island of Barbados. The two first met on the island back in 2004. They developed a friendship as she was married and Cowell was in a relationship at the time; He dated entertainment journalist Terri Seymour from 2002 through 2008, and then was engaged to makeup artist Mezghan Hussainy. The two split in 2011.

Cowell and Silverman kept their romance quiet for a while, but in July 2013, reports surfaced that the pair was expecting their first child together.

“He is very pleased that her divorce is finalized, and he is excited about spending time with Lauren. He wants to make sure that she and the baby are doing okay. He is getting more and more excited about the baby,” a source told People magazine at the time.

In March 2014, Cowell and Silverman welcomed their son, Eric. As for the couple’s engagement, Cowell surprised Silverman on the beach. Their son Eric as well as Silverman’s son from her first marriage were also present.

“They are both super happy. They’ve been together a long time now and adore each other so it’s not a huge surprise to their close friends,” a source told People. “They have fun together, as well as being each other’s rock. They are both passionate [about one another], but really do bring out the very best in each other. As a family, they all have such an incredible bond.”

Cowell and Silverman didn’t seem to be in an immediate rush to tie the knot.

“I am planning it all, otherwise I know what will happen—there will be 600 people and it’ll get out of control, like my 50th birthday party. No one knows when it’s going to be—that’ll be a surprise, even for Lauren,” the former American Idol judge told The Sun in 2022.

Flash forward three years and it seems that everything worked out — and the couple was able to keep things completely private. That is, of course, presuming Silverman’s social media name change means what we think it means!
