[BREAKING NEWS] ‘Shifting Gears’ Star Kat Dennings Just Spoil Her Return

Kat Dennings made headlines for her performance earlier this year in Shifting Gears, but before she ever teamed up with Tim Allen for the popular sitcom, she played arguably her most famous character of all time. Dennings debuted as Darcy Lewis in 2011’s Thor, one of the first MCU movies, and she played the character as recently as last year in animation and 2022 in live-action, making her one of the most tenured veterans in the franchise.
When Marvel announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday back in March, Dennings was not one of the names to receive a casting chair. However, a new Instagram post from the star may have just teased her return in the film. Dennings posted a photo of her holding an extremely realistic Captain America shield that could belong to the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie. She captioned the photo, “Don’t get excited, I’m just sampling the hardware,” but this might well be a misdirection. Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production, and Mackie has shared videos of himself on set — it’s possible Dennings just spoiled her role as Darcy in Avengers: Doomsday with a simple picture.
It hasn’t been long since Dennings shared a funny story relating to her time in the MCU. The Shifting Gears star recently visited Avengers campus at Disney World for the first time, and she was initially confused as to why she was drawing so many wayward eyes and earning so many waves from strangers. It then hit her that she was garnering this attention because she is an MCU star. Dennings’ most recent live-action MCU role came in Thor: Love and Thunder, and she also voiced the character in What If…? Season 3.

Although ABC has not assigned Shifting Gears Season 2 an official release date, all signs point to it being early next year, likely in the same window that Season 1 released. Star Tim Allen recently shared an update on the show, confirming that production on the hit series was due to begin soon. The show was written and created for television by Mike and Julie Thacker-Scully, with John Pasquin, Victor Gonazlez, and Danielle Fishel serving as directors on Season 1.
Dennings has not been officially confirmed for a role in Avengers: Doomsday. Stay tuned to Collider for more MCU updates and coverage of Shifting Gears Season 2 on Hulu.
