Snoop Dogg, known for his laid-back persona, revealed an emotional side during a recent episode of The Voice.
The rapper faced a heart-wrenching decision in the knockout round, choosing between three talented singers: 16-year-old Chrisdeo, who performed Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth, 17-year-old Mikaela Ayira, who sang Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara, and 31-year-old Torre Black, who delivered a heartfelt rendition of Slow Burn by Kacey Musgraves.
While all the judges praised the contestants’ exceptional talent, Snoop struggled to pick a winner and was visibly teary-eyed. Ultimately, he chose Mikaela Ayira as the winner of the round.
As per Daily Mail, the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper said, “Man. I didn’t think I was going to get this emotional. I love these three girls. Y’all made me proud to see y’all take that information and get confident, get strong, and be the women that I knew you would be. I’m just, I’m so torn right now because I can’t take all of y’all with me. And I’m hurt. And I’m supposed to be strong right now. I’m supposed to make y’all strong. But this is how you affected me. I love each and every one of you.”
Snoop Dogg further compared the three singers with his daughters and added, “I love all three of you. I’m so honoured to have been able to be your coach, to spend time with you, to get to know you, to give you something to roll with for the rest of your lives. Because you affected me for the rest of my life. So with that being said, the winner of this knockout is Mikaela.”
Further in the episode, Snoop shared his thoughts on choosing Mikaela Ayira as the winner and explained that her voice has great potential, but she still needs to learn how to fully use it.
He believes that if she gets the right song and production, she could win the competition as well.
The rapper also shared how difficult it was for him to make such emotional decisions.
He wanted them to understand that their performance wasn’t a failure, it was simply a part of their journey in The Voice.
