Reba McEntire Celebrates Son’s Major Accomplishment
Reba McEntire celebrated a milestone in her son Shelby Blackstock’s pilot journey on July 22, 2025, and she couldn’t be more proud.
“Turned around to check on you, and realized you’re not my newborn anymore,” she wrote beside two photos on her TikTok account: one of herself holding Blackstock as a baby, and one of her now-35-year-old son standing proudly beside an airplane he’s just flown.
“Safe to say, he’s gonna fly,” she added in the caption. “So proud of Shelby for taking his first solo flight!”
The sweet set of photos was accompanied by McEntire’s 2005 hit song “You’re Gonna Be” playing in the background. She wrote the hit about her baby boy twenty years ago — little did she know how relevant the lyrics to the song would become!
“You’re gonna fly with every dream you chase/We just have to believe things work out like they should,” she sings in the classic hit. “Life has no guarantees, but always loved by me/You’re gonna be, always loved by me.”
“What a manifestation!” said one fan in the comments of her post.
The song sparked a recent trend on TikTok, where mothers posted photos of their babies and then the kids or adults they’ve become. McEntire loved the viral trend, asking fans to “join in” the fun, and her followers loved to see her getting involved in it. “Reba participating in a trend we’ve all seen and done with our own children. She really is just another loving mama like us all!” one commented.
Others were shocked to see Blackstock all grown up, and loved following his journey through the years. “It’s amazing to see Shelby take that first solo flight. Such a huge milestone, proud of you!” wrote one, while another added, “Wishing him many more successful journeys ahead!”
