Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay to headline Van Buren prayer luncheon this July

VAN BUREN, Ark. — Shay Mooney of the Grammy-winning duo Dan + Shay will headline the 2025 Van Buren Mayor’s Prayer Luncheon on July 22, 2025.

The luncheon’s theme is “Seeking Peace, Serving Together.” It aims to unite citizens to pray for local leaders and the community.

Mooney, a native of Natural Dam, has been in the music industry for over a decade. He is a singer and songwriter alongside his Dan + Shay partner, Dan Smyers. Together, they have earned numerous awards and honors from the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, the Billboard Music Awards, and others.

Recently, the duo accepted the award for “Favorite Country Duo or Group” at the 2025 American Music Awards.

Van Buren Lions Club Officer, Terry Carson, said this event is a collaborative effort of the Van Buren Lions Club, the Rotary Club of Van Buren, and the GFWC-Women’s League of Van Buren.

“Our three civic clubs all work to strengthen and support our community, and we believe coming together to host this event is another way we can do that,” said Carson.

Local pastors will share Scripture and lead the prayer throughout the luncheon, and Mayor Joe Hurst will also speak.

“We are excited to have Shay come share about his faith and the foundation it provides for him,” said Hurst. “He is a tremendously talented artist and our county is proud to call him one of our own.”

The event will be held at the Van Buren High School Commons at 11:30 a.m. Tickets will be $25 with limited spots available. Sponsorships with reserved tables are also available.
