Kelly Ripa Reveals Relationship ‘Deal-Breaker’ in Her 28-Year Marriage to Mark Consuelos

Kelly Ripa shared what she deemed to be a relationship “deal-breaker,” revealing she would not be pleased if husband Mark Consuelos wanted to know where she was, and vice versa, after 28 years of marriage.
“The last thing I want to know is where you are at all times,” Kelly, 54, told Mark, 53, during the Tuesday, February 11, episode of Live while discussing a Wall Street Journal article about how 21 percent of couples are against location sharing.
Mark agreed, telling his wife, “I don’t need to know that. I know where you are here and that’s enough for me.” He added that he can usually be found “upstairs in [his] den” whenever Kelly wants to find him at home.
“I think it’s a little weird if somebody asks you — if you’re dating and they ask you for your location,” Mark continued. “It’s something that I think the person should offer to you. ‘Hey, I’m going to share my location with you.’”
Kelly said it would be weird if a partner “would need to know” information about her location.
“Where do they think you are though? I can tell them where you are,” she said. “To me, it’s a deal-breaker for me if you need to know where I am. I’m where I told you I am, and you don’t need to know anything.”
However, there was one time that the Live Wire author did need her husband to know where she was.
“I got lost once. I was hiking [and] I got lost,” Kelly explained. “I went hiking by myself in Colorado and he said, ‘Don’t do it,’ and I said, ‘I know where I am,’ and of course, I got lost. And Mark said, ‘Share your location with me’ and this is where it was a generational divide where I became my grandmother. Mark was like, ‘Share your location with me and I’ll guide you home,’ but I could not do that.”
What Is Your Favorite Talk Show?
The Hope and Faith alum added, “You walked me through it, but it was very stressful for us.”
The conversations took place amid the couple’s “Love Week” on Live, where they’ve played games identifying romantic phrases via emojis and had a discussion with a therapist on ways to keep the spark alive in a relationship.
One of the exercises Dr. Terri Cole suggested on the Wednesday, February 12, episode was identifying things that a couple “liked” about each other after years together.
Mark gushed how he “really really likes how smart” Kelly is and how much she “makes me laugh.”

“I honestly was going to say I can’t think of a thing I don’t like about him,” Kelly sweetly shared. “I like how grown up he is. He’s a very pragmatic person, and he’s an empath and I like all those things … and he also makes me laugh … a lot!” as the audience responded with “awws” about her answer.
Kelly and Mark went on to reveal how they have “immunity sessions,” where they agree to give honest responses to questions without the fear of the other person getting upset.
The duo has had years to craft what works best in their marriage. Kelly and Mark fell in love after meeting on the set of All My Children and eloped to Las Vegas, tying the knot on May 1, 1996.
The couple welcomed their first child, son Michael, in June 1997, followed by daughter Lola in June 2001. Kelly and Mark rounded out their family with the birth of son Joaquin in February 2003.
