Why Kelly Clarkson Hasn’t Been Dating … So Relatable
Kelly Clarkson is enjoying her life as a single mom and isn’t rushing to change that. While performing at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas over the weekend, the 43-year-old “American Idol” alum got real with her fans about why she’s happily flying solo.

“Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t,” Clarkson said during her Studio Sessions residency, according to fan-captured footage shared via TikTok on July 20. “It’s hard anyway; add a spotlight and it’s like a … dumpster fire.”

The comment sparked laughter and applause from the audience. “The Voice” coach, known for her unfiltered honesty, shared how fame complicates even the most basic human experiences.
Why Clarkson Isn’t Looking for Love Right Now
This isn’t the first time Clarkson has addressed her post-divorce dating life. Back in May, she appeared on “Today With Jenna & Friends“, where she told Jenna Bush Hager that she was “not looking” and “very busy.”
Her reasoning seems grounded in self-awareness and a full plate—between her talk show, music, and parenting, dating has clearly taken a back seat.
Clarkson Reflects on Heartbreak & Healing

Clarkson, who was married to Brandon Blackstock from 2013 to 2022, also revisited the emotional toll of her past relationship during a May 9 performance in Atlantic City. “We learn from our parents, [who] learn from their parents. We keep repeating the same horrible s* over and over,” she said. “Now, it turns out that I chose the same f*ing path.”
Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, and the former couple settled two years later. The “Since U Been Gone” singer received primary custody of their two kids—daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington, 9. She later relocated from Los Angeles to New York City. In a 2023 interview with USA Today, Clarkson explained the move. “I thought I was making a horrible decision,” she said. “I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in L.A. … So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.’”

During her Vegas show, Clarkson also poked fun at the realities of being a working artist compared to global superstars like Taylor Swift. “When you tour, like, you have to take everything in trucks. So, you have to pay for all that,” she told the crowd.
“You can’t really pay for seven guitars on stage ‘cause you make no money. Unless you’re Taylor Swift, then you can do whatever the f*** you want. For the rest of us minions, [it doesn’t] work.”
For now, Kelly Clarkson is focused on herself, her kids, and keeping it real, no dating apps required!
