[OFFICIAL] The FATE of Reba McEntire’s New Sitcom REVEALED Ahead of Finale

Country music icon and sitcom veteran Reba McEntire has another hit show on her hands, 18 years after her first sitcom, Reba, ended in 2007. McEntire’s newest venture, Happy’s Place, which airs on NBC and streams on Peacock, is in the midst of its first season and, per Deadline, has just been given the green light for Season 2.

Happy’s Place, a multi-camera comedy that premiered in October 2024, follows Bobbie (McEntire) as she inherits a tavern from her late father. Unbeknownst to her, she learns that she’s not the only owner of the business. Bobbie discovers that she has a much younger half-sister she never knew existed, named Isabella, played by Belissa Escobedo.

Reba alum Melissa Peterman, plays Gabby in the series, a bartender who is full of drama. The first season also saw Steve Howey (Shameless), who played Van Montgomery on Reba, guest star in an episode of Happy’s Place.

The Ratings Keep Increasing for Happy’s Place

Happy’s Place’s pilot episode was viewed by 17.6 million people across all platforms, which is up an astounding 338% from its initial premiere on Oct. 18, 2024. The sitcom is the No. 2 NBC comedy launch for Peacock, behind St. Denis Medical. Combined, the two first-year comedies have had a total of almost 45 million viewers linearly and across digital platforms.

The series was created by Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott and also stars Pablo Castleblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn. Kevin Abbot is the executive producer along with McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman. It’s produced by Universal Television, which is a division of Universal Studios Group.

St. Denis Medical Also Renewed

Happy’s Place is the second freshman NBC sitcom to receive a renewal for a new season. In January, St. Denis Medical, a single-camera mockumentary comedy series in a similar vein as The Office and Parks and Recreation, was renewed for a second season, per Variety. St. Denis Medical is from the team that produced another hit NBC comedy, Superstore. The logline for the series reads: “At St. Denis Medical Center, the dedicated doctors and nurses are trying their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity.”

St. Denis Medical stars Reno: 911 alum Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper, David Allan Grier, Kaliko Kauahi, and Stephen Schneider.

Two of the Highest-Performing Comedies

Happy’s Place and St. Denis Medical are the two best-performing comedy series for NBC. Its other two comedies, Night Court and Lopez vs. Lopez, are considered to be “on the bubble.” Last November, the network awarded both Happy’s Place and Lopez vs. Lopez an order for more scripts, but Happy’s Place was the only one given a full-season order.

The next episode of Happy’s Place airs on Feb. 21. New episodes air every Friday on NBC and stream on Peacock.
