[SO SAD] ‘Will Trent’ Is in a State of Emergency in New Season 3 Finale Promo
‘Will Trent’ Is in a State of Emergency in New Season 3 Finale Promo

After a roller-coaster 18 episodes that saw Ramon Rodriguez’s titular Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) detective face personal and professional chaos with little to no respite, ABC’s smash-hit procedural drama Will Trent is waving goodbye to its third season in explosive, or perhaps infectious, fashion. Following the most recent Episode 17, “Why Hello, Sheriff,” in which Severance star Yul Vazquez made Will’s life hell as the episode’s titular Sheriff Caleb, a role reported to be carrying on into Season 4 of the procedural, the promo for the finale has officially been released, and it seems our hero is about to face his difficult past once again.
Titled “Listening to a Heartbeat,” the upcoming season finale is set to place Will and the rest of Atlanta in terrifying danger at the hands of biochemical terrorist warfare. Prepare to return to the nightmare of 2020 as a lockdown is introduced, attempting to thwart the threat of the fast-spreading virus. After the governor declares a state of emergency and panic ensues, it’s up to Will and co to fit the pieces of this chaotic puzzle together and save the day. However, as revealed in the synopsis, it seems as if Will needs to take care of his own personal troubles related to his biological father, perhaps distracting him from the city-threatening danger at large. The official synopsis for the Season 3 finale reads:
“Unleashed by a domestic terrorist group, a mysterious biological attack runs rampant in Atlanta. As Will and his team race to contain the threat and save countless lives, he’s forced to confront the complex dynamics of his own family.”
Ramon Rodriguez Promises a “Very Exciting” Season 3 Finale
If the promo and the synopsis weren’t enough to get you hyped for the upcoming Will Trent Season 3 finale, then the man himself should help tip you into hot anticipation. Speaking to TV Insider about the finale, Rodriguez teased, “It’s very exciting. It comes to a really big — it comes to a head. A lot of things come to a head. The interesting thing — in addition to Will still processing and dealing with what happened with Marco, which will continue — there’s going to be some other personal things that come up for Will that are really exciting and that hopefully lead us to a really fun Season 4.” He later added, “I think it’s going to leave people definitely excited, wanting to see what happens next.” How this terrifying ordeal will play out remains to be seen, but it will surely impact the future of the show in its entirety.
The Will Trent finale airs on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on your favorite shows.
