As “Burlesque: The Musical” officially gets set to open at London’s Savoy Theatre on July 22, Christina Aguilera attended the July 19th preview, documenting the evening on Instagram.

Two days later, “The Voice” alum joined the London cast for a photocall for the show. The singer showcased her svelte frame in a form-fitting olive green dress, but her fans had mixed reactions to both the outfit and her hair and makeup.
Christina Aguilera’s Fans Had Mixed Reactions
E! News posted an Instagram video of Aguilera wearing the corset-style Versace dress and thigh-high black boots. Her makeup was goth-inspired, featuring dark lips, heavy eye makeup, and dark contouring that accentuated her already prominent cheekbones. Her hair was also frizzy and blown out.

Many took to the comments to blast the look as harsh. “Why did her makeup and hair stylist do this to her?” wrote one person. “I feel like the color is not complimenting her along with the lipstick and really crispy hair. Would be a great hocus pocus halloween outfit tho,” another commented.
But not everyone disliked the look. Several fans immediately recognized that she was partially recreating a look she had worn for Versace in Fall 2003.

“Versace 2002 campaign! I liveee,” read a comment. “For people who don’t understand why her hair and makeup looks like that they need to look up the campaign she did for Versace in 2002,” commented another. “This is supposed to be the [look] that she’s recreating.. stop criticizing.”

Following our successful previews, having the show land in the West End later this year is a dream come true!”
