Kelsea Ballerini slams crowd mid-concert over obscenity about ex-husband Morgan Evans: ‘Stop saying that’
Kelsea Ballerini is living unapologetically on tour.
The “Cowboys Cry Too” singer, 31, stopped a recent concert to scold fans for cursing out her ex-husband, Morgan Evans, 39.
The moment came when Ballerini performed her song “Penthouse” Firday at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.
Featured on her 2023 EP “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat,” the song is widely believed to be about her 2022 divorce from the Australian country crooner and includes the lines, “It hurts putting s–t in a box / And now we don’t talk / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half.”

It was after Ballerini, who is on tour to support her new album “Patterns,” sang, “You got half,” and paused that fans apparently shouted, “F–k you, Morgan,” drawing Ballerini’s ire.
“Guys, we have to stop saying that,” the “Peter Pan” singer told concertgoers, as seen in a video posted on TikTok.
“Seriously, we’re three years past it, everything’s fine now,” she added, referring to her five-year marriage to Evans. “I sing the song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please.”
With the crowd cheering her on, Ballerini continued, “Alright, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?”

The comments section of the TikTok video lit up with support for Ballerini.
“For everyone who doesn’t know- people say ‘F You Morgan’ during the pause,” one person explained. “She has asked multiple times for people to stop. She is healed and wants to move on.”
Another applauded the singer, writing, “So classy of her to call someone out she’s over it.”
Others expressed concern that Ballerini would remove the song from her setlist if fans continued to shout the obscenity.
“Listen to MOTHER,” someone commented. “Or she’s gonna remove it from the setlist and y’all are gonna ruin it for every one else. She deserves for us to respect her wishes!”
The shout is apparently so common it can even be heard in the live version of “Penthouse” featured on Ballerini’s extended version of “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.”

One sign the star has clearly moved on: she seems very much in love with boyfriend Chase Stokes.
Rumors began to swirl in January 2023 that she and the “Outer Banks” star were romantically involved. They confirmed their relationship when they went red-carpet official at the CMT Awards in April of that year.
Recently, Ballerini and Stokes were seen singing along to Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” at the Grammy Awards.
Ballerini’s next show is scheduled for Wednesday at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Her tour will then head to Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Kansas City and Pittsburgh before wrapping April 13 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
