‘The Voice’ Fans React to Kelly Clarkson’s Dramatic Hair Transformation: “I wasn’t ready”

Kelly Clarkson is embarking on a new era of The Voice — and she has a new look to prove it.

It’s been a few years since The Kelly Clarkson Show host was last on the NBC competition series, and folks got quite a surprise when they learned she’ll be returning for season 29 in the spring of 2026. With The Voice undergoing a format change (the new installment is being referred to as The Voice: Battle of Champions), it’s only fair that the coaches competing change things up as well, right? Well, along with Kelly bringing her musical expertise back to the TV show, she debuted a new look that fans couldn’t get enough of.

Thanks to an Instagram promo video posted on July 22 alongside fellow coaches Adam Levine and John Legend, Kelly debuted a short blonde bob to promote her upcoming season of The Voice. She paired the hairstyle with a white button-down shirt, a long black skirt and an untied bowtie, completing a sophisticated transformation that certainly felt perfect for the new gig she has coming up next year.

When fans saw how the original American Idol winner changed up her hair, they couldn’t get over how much they loved seeing this new side of the singer.

“Wait I wasn’t ready. KC lookin’ fiiine. 😮‍💨,” one person wrote in the comments. “Kelly is back!!! Love her hair short,” another exclaimed. “Her hair looks great!” a different follower added.

We’re absolutely obsessed with this, too! But fans also know this isn’t the only time Kelly has changed up her style. In fact, she has pulled off some great looks for when she’s on TV — including a jaw-dropping outfit when she took the stage at The Voice season 27 finale back in May 2025.

If this is what Kelly is previewing in terms of her Voice wardrobe and hair, we can only imagine what other looks she’ll bring out when the time comes!
