[VERY SAD] The decision to cut multiple contestants Through Night 1 on ‘The Voice’ Season 27 Battles has deeply saddened fans
Here’s Who Went Home and Who Made It Through Night 1 on ‘The Voice’ Season 27 Battles Tonight
The first night of Battles for Season 27 of The Voice took place Monday night with coaches Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend and Michael Bublé pairing up their teams in duets which determined which artist went through to the Knockouts and which one went home.
This season, celebrity advisors are returning for the Battles. Cynthia Erivo will help mentor Team Bublé, Kate Hudson will counsel Team Adam, Coco Jones is assisting Team Legend, and country greats Little Big Town (Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook) will work with Team Kelsea.
Each coach has one Steal and One Save this season. On night one, Adam used his Save on Darius J and John used his Steal for country singer Tatum Scott and his Save to keep Nell Simmons on his team.

Advancing artists tonight on The Voice Season 26 Battle Rounds Night 5
Angie Rey Britton Moore (four-chair turn) Darius J (Save) Ethan Eckenroad (four-chair turn) Jayden Cree Kolby Cordell Nell Simmons (Save) Olivia Kuper Harris Tatum Scott (Steal)
Battle Round 1: Britton Moore (a four-chair turn) vs Darius J from Team Adam
Song: “Creep” by Radiohead
Winner: Britton Moore
Adam said: “I really don’t know if there was a winner or loser to this Battle but I went with Britton because he can sing on key all the time. He’s really powerful and he got that big note, which is so hard to nail.”
But Darius isn’t leaving. Both Kelsea and Michael hit their Steal buttons and Adam pushed his Save.
Save: Darius J
Adam said: “Darius has this really unique way about him and I love the way he dresses, I love his whole attitude and there’s something juicy about his voice. You just want to hear it. Darius and I aren’t done yet. We have more to do.”
Battle Round 2: Kolby Cordell vs Pablo Herrera from Team Legend
Song: “Tacones Rojos” by Sebastián Yatra
Winner: Kolby Cordell
John said: “I picked Kolby because I loved his voice. That text, the way it’s powerful and cuts through is really unique in this competition. The fact that he took on this assignment and it wasn’t exactly in his wheelhouse and still really nailed it, I think the future is really bright for Kolby.”
Battle Round 3: Braxton Garza vs Jadyn Cree from Team Bublé
Song: “Danny’s Song” by Loggins & Messina
Winner: Jayden Cree
Michael said: “Jayden is a superstar. Not only do I see Jayden fitting in with the pop stars of today like Olivia [Rodrigo] and Billie Eilish, she has that thing, that spark that we can’t articulate or explain and part of it, I think, is that she’s truly humble.”

Battle Round 4: Angie Rey vs Tatum Scott from Team Kelsea
Song: “Girl” by Maren Morris
Winner: Angie Rey
Kelsea said: “These decisions are wildly difficult because this is my first time being a coach. I just care about doing the best service to these artists that I can. With Angie, I hear a little country in there, I hear a lot of pop/R&B and soul. That combination is so exciting because as an artist, I love blending things. I know I can help her with that. I feel like she’s full of surprises. She’s like my dark horse.”
Steal: Tatum Scott
John said: “I stole Tatum because I really wanted her in the Blinds. Her voice is in a unique spot for my team. She’s got her own lane. Now she’s just got to go in there and maximize it.”
Battle Round 5: Fran Posla vs Ethan Eckenroad from Team Adam
Song: “July” by Noah Cyrus and Leon Bridges
Winner: Ethan Eckenroad
Adam said: “They were both great. You’ve got to kind of go with your gut, so Ethan was the choice for me. I think staying in the folksy/Americana lane is important for the Knockouts. If he’s comfortable, he’s really going to do well.”
Song: “Feel Like Making Love” by Roberta Flack
Winner: Olivia Kuper Harris
John said: “It was so hard to pick a winner. They were literally so close to each other but I had to pick Olivia. I love Olivia’s voice, the airiness, the reediness of it, but it’s also soulful and grounded, too. I don’t think anyone sounds like her and she can do some really interesting things in the competition.”
But Nell isn’t leaving. Adam hit his Steal button and John hit his Save button.
Save: Nell Simmons
John said: “I was hoping that Nell would give me the opportunity to coach her again because she’s so fantastic, so poised and charismatic. I am so happy that Nell is still on Team Legend.”
The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.
