Adam Devine has shared the details of a grim health prognosis he received, after years of suffering with chronic pain.
The Modern Family actor has lived with painful consequences of an accident he had at 11, when he was run over by a cement truck, and recently revealed his pain led to doctors sharing their grim prognosis.
Devine told the podcast In Depth with Graham Bensinger that he experiences spasms all over his body, and pain if he sits, stands or walks for too long.
The actor shared an ominous conversation he had with his doctors: “They told me I was dying. Literally, within this last year, they told me that. They told me I had this disease called stiff-person syndrome. And that’s when your muscles get so tight that you then, you can no longer walk. You can no longer move, yubi, then your heart will stop beating because your heart is a muscle and it gets too tight to beat, and then you die.”

Devine explained as his condition got worse he consulted a specialist who had a different opinion:
“And he’s like, ‘You don’t have it. You do not have it.’ He’s like, ‘This is from your accident, from when you were a child. The spasms are a little unexplainable, but it could just be you got so tight that your body doesn’t know what to do with it. So, you’re misfiring a little bit.”
Devine, who also starred in the film Pitch Perfect and co-created comedy Workaholics has since had stem cell treatment and reports that he feels the best he has known in years.
The actor previously shared details of his accident when, ate age 11, he ran into the road while out shopping for candy with friends.
