Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Have Major Claim Against Ryan Seacrest
‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Contestant Hilariously Yells At Host Ryan Seacrest
Ryan Seacrest has seemingly had a solid start to his run as host of Wheel of Fortune, but there are a few fans who think he’s still got some work to do when it comes to filling previous host Pat Sajak’s shoes after his 41-year tenure.
The 50-year-old game show host made viewers upset after seemingly laughing at one contestant after they were unable to solve a $100,000 puzzle.
Jim Venckus, from Downers Grove, Illinois, competed on the Friday, March 7, yubi episode of Wheel. The Illinois native played his way through the puzzles and secured a trip to the Caribbean before finishing the game with around $25,000. It was during the Bonus Round that Venckus failed to solve the puzzle and lost out on an additional $100,000. Seacrest opened up the envelope and revealed the amount the contestant had lost and seemingly broke out into laughter.

Users on Reddit took to a forum about the game show to discuss Seacrest’s reaction to Venckus’s loss.
“Why [does] Ryan think it’s funny when someone loses $100,000?,” asked one user in the title of a post that read, “Since Ryan took over, anybody noticed Ryan smiling and pretty much laughing when $100,000 is lost in the Bonus Round?”
One user replied in the comments and admitted, “Could just be nervous energy. If I were on the show and lost $100,000 I’d prob laugh too. It would be the only thing keeping me from cursing and crying lol.”
A second user wrote, “But they don’t really LOSE $100,000 because they never had it to begin with. Technically, they don’t WIN $100,000.”
A third noted, “He always has a goofy look on his face when opening the bonus round card.”
Seacrest took over as cohost of Wheel after Sajak, 78, stepped down in 2024. Fans can watch him alongside cohost Vanna White in season 42 of the beloved gameshow which airs weeknights on ABC.
