Kelly Clarkson fans are addicted to her new bob haircut.
Clarkson, 43, debuted her new ‘do in a promo video for The Voice on Tuesday, July 22, shortly after she was announced as a coach for season 29 in spring 2026. In the clip, the “Breakaway” singer turned around in her red chair to reveal that her blonde locks had been cut to just above her shoulders and styled in loose waves.
Clarkson typically sports longer, chest-length tresses, which she had just a few days ago during her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Clarkson’s short hairstyle in the Voice promo was paired with a menswear-inspired outfit consisting of a black maxi skirt with a slit, a white button-down and a black tie draped around her shoulders. She completed the look with black heels, dangly earrings and red lipstick.

“This time, we’ve got some tricks up our sleeve. Y’all get ready,” she said as she pressed her chair’s signature “I Want You” button.
Fans in the comments were thrilled to see Clarkson back on the show after she had previously left the competition in 2023. Many of them gushed over her stylish new look.
“Short and sassier hair on Kelly … love it,” one fan wrote, while another user added, “Wait I wasn’t ready. KC lookin’ fiiine. 😮💨.”
“Kelly being back is everything!❤️” a third fan commented.
Season 29 coaches Adam Levine and John Legend were also present in the promo video.
“If you think you know The Voice, think again,” Levine, 46, said, as Legend, also 46, added, “Three champion coaches are back to turn the competition upside down.”
In a second post on her Instagram page, Clarkson wrote, “I’m so excited to be back coaching on the Voice!”

NBC announced on Tuesday that season 29 would feature a revamped Battle of the Champions format as a nod to “the powerhouse coaches who form the only panel in the show’s history comprised entirely of Voice winners.”
The three coaches will begin the competition with 10 artists per team and go through four rounds, each with unique twists, according to a press release.
The season will begin with the blind auditions, featuring a “Triple Turn Competition,” in which the coaches try to get the most three-chair-turn artists on their teams. The winning coach gets “Super Steal” advantage in the battle rounds, which can be used to steal an artist from another team and trumps another coach’s attempt to steal.
In the knockouts, the coaches will bring back fan-favorite artists from past seasons to compete in an “In-Season All-Star Competition.” Original Voice coach CeeLo Green will pick winners of these head-to-head sing-offs, and the coach with the most winners is guaranteed a second finalist in the finale.
During the semi-finals and the finale, superfans and past artists will have the chance to vote in real time as part of the in-studio audience.
Ahead of season 29, fans can tune into The Voice season 28, premiering on NBC in September with coaches Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé.
