Shifting Gears Season 2 Adds Lilly Singh and Mookie Betts as Guest Stars
ABC reveals the latest guest stars for Season 2 of Shifting Gears.
ABC has unveiled new key art for the second season of Shifting Gears and confirmed two exciting guest stars: entertainer Lilly Singh and Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts. The new season premieres Wednesday, October 1, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and will stream the next day on Hulu.
Lilly Singh Joins the Cast
Singh will appear as Jen, a new mom friend to Riley (Kat Dennings). Their friendship starts strong but quickly unravels thanks to unexpected “mama drama.” Singh’s episode will air during the upcoming season.
Singh is an award-winning entertainer, author, and producer with a digital following of over 40 million. She previously hosted NBC’s A Little Late with Lilly Singh and stars in Disney+’s Emmy-winning comedy The Muppets Mayhem. Singh is also preparing for the release of her first feature film, Doin’ It, which she co-wrote, produced, and stars in. The film premieres in theaters on September 19, 2025.
Mookie Betts Makes Scripted TV Debut
Three-time World Series champion Mookie Betts will make his scripted television debut on Shifting Gears. The Dodgers shortstop will play himself in a special guest appearance this season. Betts announced the news to fans on Instagram.
About Shifting Gears
The series follows Matt (Tim Allen), a widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. His life takes an unexpected turn when his estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) and her children move back into his home, forcing both generations to rebuild their relationship.
Shifting Gears stars Allen, Dennings, Seann William Scott, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. The series is produced by 20th Television with Allen serving as executive producer alongside Michelle Nader, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and others.
Returning guest stars for season two include Nancy Travis and Jenna Elfman, while previously announced appearances include Home Improvement‘s Debbe Dunning, Richard Karn, and Patricia Richardson.
Season two premieres Wednesday, October 1, on ABC, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
