Desperate Housewives reboot officially confirmed as details of ‘reimagined’ series are released – 13 years after finale

THE Desperate Housewives reboot has been officially confirmed as details of the new show are released.

13 years after the global drama was last seen on the airwaves, a ‘reimagined’ series is now in development.

It has been reported that producers are working on a new series called ‘Wisteria Lane’.

The series has been set up for development at the Disney owned company, Onyx Collective.

Deadline also reports that the show comes from 20th Television and Simpson Street, the production company of Emmy-winning actress Kerry Washington.

Natalie Chaidez serves as the writer for the new show which the outlet describes as “a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery in the vein of Desperate Housewives.”

It will be set among a group of five different friends – who are sometimes ‘frenemies’ – and they all live on the cul de sac named “Wisteria Lane.”

With stunning homes, beautiful families and shining cars in the driveway, all the neighbours live that picture-perfect dream.

However, behind the surface and those iconic white-picket fences, there are secrets and lies.

The outlet has also teased that the show has evolved somewhat in a new social media age, over a decade after the show last aired.

It remains unclear if Kerry Washington will appear in the forthcoming drama.

Marc Cherry was the original creator and executive producer of Desperate Housewives and is not part of the pitch.

Desperate Housewives stars reunite 12 years after show
However, sources have told the outlet that he is aware of the project and he could be involved in another capacity.

Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, and Marcia Cross starred in the original version of Desperate Housewives.

Nicollette Sheridan also appeared in the show for the first five series before she was killed off.

The five women – who were mostly friends – lived on the idyllic Wisteria Lane neighbourhood.

    DARK SECRETS

But they started to uncover dark secrets after their neighbour Mary Alice Young took her own life.

Last October, fans celebrated the 20th anniversary of the show after it’s original air date in 2004.

Cherry explained in November that “about 70,000 people” have asked him about a reboot since the eight-season run came to an end in May 2012.

Earlier this month, Eva Longoria also admitted that the cast have faced endless speculation about returning to the show.

She told Stellar magazine that she “would be the first person” to sign up for a reboot.

Although, Deadline reports that there are no current plans for the original characters to appear in the reboot.

GMA hit with host shakeup as TWO anchors exit show just months after ‘nightmare’ layoffs

GOOD Morning America has been hit with a huge host shakeup as TWO anchors exit the show just months after a slew of devastating layoffs.

Back in March, ABC News’ president sent a memo confirming the future of GMA and GMA3 as staffers at ABC packed up their desks amid layoffs at the company.

And now the Disney-backed news outlet is overhauling the anchor lineup for the afternoon hour in a huge shakeup that sees two fan-favorite anchors out of the door.

On Monday, current co-anchor Eva Pilgrim announced a shock move to CBS’ Inside Edition, with her no longer a GMA3 anchor.

While her co-anchor was announced as departing the company altogether shortly after.

With a memo sent around today, the future of GMA’s host shakeup has been revealed, with DeMarco Morgan leaving for good.

ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic told staffers in the memo that DeMarco will be leaving the show and the company as Eva moves to Inside Edition.

“He [DeMarco] has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News,” the executive said in his memo.

    FANS REACT TO DEPARTURES

Fans have since reacted to the news of DeMarco and Eva’s axing from GMA3.

One person said on X: “I’m happy Eva quickly landed on her feet at Inside Edition. But, I hate that she and DeMarco were replaced amidst the shakeup at #GMA3.”

“So DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim are both leaving ABC…” added a second, with a confused-face GIF.

While a third wrote: “WTH, @ABC? What did you do with @EvaPilgrim and @DeMarcoReports on #GMA3?

“I love adding Will & Gio but throwing Eva & DeMarco out like so much trash is disrespectful & just plain stupid.

“You already shot yourselves in the foot firing Amy & TJ. Get your shit together already.”

    FIRING LINE PREDICTED

Back in April, it was reported that Good Morning America 3 hosts DeMarco and Eva Pilgrim could be in the firing line – and now it is confirmed that they are.

DeMarco and Eva took over the 1pm time slot in 2023 following the affair between married co-anchors TJ Holmes and Amy Robach.

    Good Morning America anchors

Good Morning America airs on ABC from 7-9am EST, Monday through Friday. The show has a panel of anchors who discuss the week’s events and current news. The anchors who appear on the morning show include:

    Robin Roberts
    Michael Strahan
    George Stephanoupolos
    Ginger Zee
    Lara Spencer

In Karamehmedovic’s memo that was circulated among staffers in March, the restructuring of the network alluded to proposed plans to merge 20/20 and Nightline, as well as consolidating its Good Morning America productions.

    HUGE SHAKEUP IN THE WORKS

The future of Good Morning America has looked different for some time, with a huge shakeup poised to impact the show.

At the time of his memo, Karamehmedovic assured staffers that the GMA3 show would not be axed.

But a source revealed at the time that by the summer, things could be a lot different – and it seems they were correct.

“GMA3 won’t be there at the end of the summer,” an insider said to The New York Post about the current hosts of the show.

A spokesperson then told the outlet, “What we have said from the beginning is that we are unifying all day parts under the GMA umbrella and team and that includes seeing all members of the extended GMA family in the third hour.”

The spokesperson added, “The third hour is a valued part of the GMA franchise.

“Robin, George and Michael have been on before and they will continue to be featured.”

She began her career at ABC in the mid-1990s as a teleprompter operator during Peter Jennings’ tenure on World News Tonight.

Over the years, she became a key figure behind the scenes, working alongside anchors including Charles Gibson, Diane and David Muir.

Her departure was marked with an on-air tribute from the World News Tonight team.

“Finally tonight, a personal note about someone we will miss here at ABC News,” David said in the segment introducing Michele’s farewell.

Diane spoke about Michele’s behind-the-scenes role and influence on the anchor desk.

“I want all the wonderful people who watch World News to know that when you’re watching the person sitting at this desk, you’re really also watching the coach behind the camera. Michele was always there to say move it along, or slow it down, or time to get out, or, in my case, she had signs printed up [that read ‘Sit up straight’],” she said.

“When Shelly says sit up straight, you do,” David added.

Charles reflected on his first official night anchoring World News, recalling: “The first night the show was mine, not just filling in for Peter, I came into the studio and Michele said to me, ‘There may be some people around here who are a little bit afraid of you. I’m not. I’m the person that will tell you what to do.’ And she did, in the nicest way, for four years.”

David paid tribute to Michele’s long-standing role on the team. “I am still in denial about all this. I can’t believe Shelly is leaving. My partner in crime out there…you deserve this, Shelly, go home to Kentucky, back with your family and the horses and the beautiful countryside…I don’t know what I’m going to do,” he said.

Diane added: “We were just two Kentucky girls who got to the big city. She was hilarious when you needed a laugh and, most of all, she is and always will be a person who cares passionately about what we do.”

Numerous ABC and Good Morning America colleagues shared messages of appreciation on social media.

“She always kept me on point btw. We’ll miss you fiercely, Michelle!” wrote Deborah in the comments of an Instagram post.

Chief meteorologist Ginger Zee called her “an institution,” adding, “Going to miss you dearly. Sending you all the sunshine.”

TV personality Julie Smith added, “This is soooo sweet! This relationship really does become a close and valued one. Also… Kentucky ladies are where it’s at!”

ABC News correspondent Mireya Villareal also chimed in: “What an amazing career and journey! Your love and protective energy for the set and all its people were incredible to watch and experience. Enjoy your time back home.”

Jeopardy! is OFF the air, fans will need to find a new show to mix into their daily routine as Jeopardy! is about to take it’s break. The date revealed.

JEOPARDY!’s extended summer hiatus dates have been revealed as fans are left mourning ‘what will we do without Ken Jennings?’

The trivia show is a staple in many viewers’ daily routine every single day for the majority of the year – but the end of summer marks the one time the series is off the air.

Jeopardy! fans will have to bid farewell, for now, to beloved host Ken, 51, when the season 41 finale airs on July 25.

The series will take a long six-week break which is a stark contrast from airing every other day of the year, including holiday’s but excluding weekends.

Following the hiatus, season 42 is set to premiere sometime in early September.

While there is no confirmed date for when the show will be back, it’s most likely set to return on Monday, September 8th.

Fans are already crying and asking “what will we do without Ken for that long?”

Another Jeopardy! fan then made a suggestion with the newfound free time, writing: “If anyone missed this season of Celebrity Jeopardy!, I highly encourage you to check it out.

Never mind if you’ve never heard of the celebs. I found it very entertaining, and Ken was in peak form interacting with them.”

Celebrity Jeopardy! aired over the spring on ABC primetime as a spinoff to the regular daily trivia episodes.

    DOUBLE JEOPARDY!

Jeopardy!’s upcoming season comes after the series has struggled to land the plane with season 41.

Despite a strong start to the season, with fan-favorite champions such as Isaac Hirsch, Drew Goins, Adriana Harmeyer and Drew Basile, the post-tournament episodes this year have been a let down to fans.

The end of season 41 has failed to produce many multi-day champions during a lackluster streak.

The season even broke a record for longest streak of one-day champions after contestants failed to win back-to-back games for 14 episodes.

Jeopardy! champ Jason Singer sneaks in plea to producers on final clue before finally breaking one-day winner’s ‘curse’
Ratings were highly impacted by the weak games, as The U.S. Sun previously revealed that viewership plummeted by over over 1 million.

For the week of June 16 to June 22, ratings have dropped down to 7,787,000 viewers, according to Nielsen.

This is an over one million viewer decline from the week of March 3 to March 9, as Jeopardy! had 8,902,000 viewers tune in.

The U.S. Sun previously reported 8,430,000 viewers watched Jeopardy! for the week of January 20 to 26.

    Jeopardy! 2025 Tournament of Champions

Jeopardy!’s next Tournament of Champions will take place this winter, midway through Season 41 (exact airdate TBA) and it’s shaping up to be another showstopper. Here’s who is officially eligible so far:

Adriana Harmeyer (15 wins and $349,600 total)
Isaac Hirsch (nine wins and $215,390)
Greg Jolin (five wins and $135,002)
Survivor alum Drew Basile (seven wins and $129,601)
Alison Betts (5 wins and $121,500)
Mark Fitzpatrick (five wins and $107,201)
Dr. Amy Hummel (5 wins and $100,994)
Ryan Manton (four wins and $83,179)
Grant DeYoung (four wins and $81,203)
Will Wallace (four wins and $79,998)
Amar Kakirde (four wins and $55,899)
Lisa Ann Walter (winner of Celebrity Jeopardy! 2024)

The prize for winning the ToC is $250,000 and a coveted slot in Jeopardy! Masters.

Jeopardy.com notes: “All 4-time and over winning players starting from 04/10/24 will be eligible for a future Tournament of Champions.”

“Presence on this list does NOT guarantee an invitation to compete. Other eligibility rules apply and final selection is up to the producers’ sole discretion.”

During the premiere week of September 9 to September 15, 7,113,000 viewers tuned in for the episodes.

The ratings drop comes as Jeopardy! has struggled with having exhilarating multi-day streaks.

Ken even revealed on an episode last week that this is the longest one-day champion steak in 20 years.

On the July 2 episode, contestant Jason Singer broke the 14-game long “curse” of having a new winner every single episode.

However, his success was short-lived as he lost the following game – bringing his Jeopardy! run to an end.

‘Jeopardy!’ under fire after James Bond clue leaves viewers frustrated

Game show fans argued the question was ‘poorly phrased’ and ‘convoluted’

“Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings explained why his experience as a contestant differentiates him from the late Alex Trebek.

“Jeopardy!” is taking some heat for a confusing James Bond clue.

Earlier this week, a Final Jeopardy prompt about the beloved film franchise left fans scratching their heads, as they argued that the clue was “convoluted.”

During an episode that aired on July 7, host Ken Jennings announced that “Movie Music” was the category for the Final Jeopardy clue.

“Jeopardy!” faced backlash over a confusing clue about Oscar-winning James Bond movie songs, as one contestant struggled to identify Daniel Craig as the answer. (Getty Images; Jeopardy!/ABC)

“The last 2 best song Oscar winners whose titles were the same name as the movie they were in had this man in the leading role,” the clue read.

    Final Jeopardy prompt

Contestant Ashley had begun writing down actor Timothee Chalamet as her answer, which Jennings said was incorrect.

The second contestant, Vince, wrote down, “Who is Daniel Craig,” which was the correct answer.

The films referenced in the clue were 2012’s “Skyfall” and 2021’s “No Time to Die.” Adele sung the title song for the earlier film, while Billie Eilish performed the other.

The episode’s returning champion, Scott, also answered correctly, earning his third win.

While Scott basked in his victory, fans were quick to slam the game show for its “confusing” Final Jeopardy round.

Jennings previously said that he had “100% empathy” for the contestants’ show fails.  (Disney/Eric McCandless)

“This was poorly phrased. I assumed they were asking about the last 2 Best Song winners: 2024 and 2025. The strength of the comma!” one viewer wrote in the comments section of the “Jeopardy!” YouTube page.

Another fan wrote, “They’re looking for Craig as the correct response, but I wonder if they would have accepted Bond as an answer. When the clue says leading role, it doesn’t specify if they are asking for actor or character…”

While another viewer chimed in on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Who is James Bond? Kinda convoluted FJ but manageable.”

As passionate fans called out the Final Jeopardy prompt, game show host Jennings had previously said that he had “100% empathy” for the contestants’ show fails.

While Jennings knows it’s not easy to compete on the show, having once been a contestant himself, he told Fox News Digital in April that his “heart just goes out to these people” who participate in the show.

“It’s their first time on TV, and we throw them into this crucible. It’s a high-pressure environment, so I’m always thinking, how can I make these people comfortable? Please, please get this right, somebody.”

He added, “I’m 100% empathy out there for these three people.”

The Seattle-born host began his “Jeopardy!” career 20 years ago, winning over $2.5 million over the course of 74 consecutive games.

They’ll come on down – then they’ll say “I do.”

On Friday’s episode of The Price is Right, the audience will be full of engaged couples. At the end of the final showcase, host Drew Carey will do something that has never happened on the show before: he’ll perform a mass wedding ceremony.

When producers pitched the idea to Carey, he was immediately on board. “I thought it was funny, not crazy,” Carey tells PEOPLE. “It was a good chance for me to have a Reverend Moon moment.”

And lest anyone think this is just a gimmick for TV, Carey stresses that the contestants are legally tying the knot. “Someone in the production office got me signed up on theIinternet to do it,” he says. “And poof, I was authorized to officiate weddings!”

The episode, which taped earlier this year, went without a hitch. But there’s one thing Carey says he forgot: He’d have to personally fill out the paperwork. “I had to fill out each and every wedding certificate,” he says with a laugh. “That was a pain; there were so many of them.”

The Price is Right audience is usually energetic, but executive producer Mike Richards says that the taping was especially frenetic. “It was an amazing atmosphere,” he says. “Everyone was so excited, they almost didn’t care whether they won or lost their games. They were getting married!”

Producers are quick to explain that the audience will be full of longtime couples who are looking for a unique place to tie the knot. “These are real couples, and we were honored to be a part of their special day,” says Richards. “We weren’t going to punk anyone, and we wanted to make it exciting and fun, while respecting that these are people who are pledging their lives to each other.”

And what’s the perfect prize for a wedding day? “For a newlywed couple, I don’t think anything beats a great trip,” says Carey. “Preferably someplace sunny. And if you can’t get sunny, make it historic. But then, I’m always up for a trip. Don’t wait to get married to take one!”

Drew Carey is opening up about the final conversation he had with his ex-fiancée Amie Harwick.

In a preview of the CBS special 48 Hours: The Final Hours of Amie Harwick, Carey opens up about the final text exchange he shared with Harwick, 38, before her tragic death in February 2020.

“I got a text from her [that read], ‘I would love to get together with you and talk,’ ” Carey, 63, recalls. “And I said, ‘Yeah, I would love to do that. I love you.’ “

When 48 Hours correspondent Erin Moriarty asks if he’s “sad” that he “never got that chance” to meet up with Harwick, Carey gets emotional.

“I never got it,” the Price Is Right host says. “I never had a chance to do it.”

After Moriarty reminds him that Harwick loved him, Carey says: “That’s the big solace I get from it, is that she loved me… And I’m glad I could get that message to her before she died.”

Carey and Harwick, who is the author of The New Sex Bible for Women, got engaged in January 2018, PEOPLE confirmed at the time. The couple ended their engagement later that year.

In the early hours of Feb. 15, 2020, Harwick was killed after being attacked and thrown from a balcony allegedly by ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse. Police later charged Pursehouse with burglary and her murder, alleging the 41-year-old waited outside her Hollywood Hills apartment for her to return before attacking the sex therapist inside her home. Harwick had been granted two restraining orders against Pursehouse prior to her death.

Pursehouse has since pleaded not guilty to her murder.

In the wake of the tragedy, Carey spoke out in a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime.”

“She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation,” he added.

Carey also tearfully reflected on their relationship — and the enduring love they felt for each other, even after they ended their engagement — on his SiriusXM show Drew Carey’s Friday Night Freak-Out.

“Back in September 2018, I was in a beautiful, great, best relationship of my life with a woman named Amie Harwick,” he said. “She was a sex therapist and mental health advocate. She had a PhD and a master’s degree, and she was beautiful and fun, and cared deeply about people and improving their lives and was just a joy to be around. I was so in love with her.”

Carey continued, “Even after we broke up, we still loved each other very much. Even though we broke up the engagement, I was still so in love with her. And she loved me back.”

    Drew Carey Amie Harwick

With the second anniversary of Harwick’s death approaching, Carey told 48 Hours that Valentine’s Day will never be the same.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever want to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a dinner. You know? I just don’t want to do anything… Valentine’s Day sucks now. That’s not a good day to remember,” he said. “I think about her every single day… You want an intimate relationship where you can open up to somebody completely and be yourself. And she was that for me.”

Carey added, “She cared so much about helping people. That was her life’s purpose. She just wanted to help people. Especially women.”

48 Hours: The Final Hours of Amie Harwick premieres Saturday at 10 p.m. ET on CBS and will also be streaming on Paramount+.

Drew Carey isn’t afraid to call out unruly audience members.

The Price Is Right host, 66, had a quippy response to his audience after the crowd negatively reacted to a contestant named Brian as he answered one of the game show’s iconic segments, Switcheroo.

In a clip uploaded to Instagram on Dec. 16, Brian had 30 seconds on the clock to assign missing numbers to five prizes that included a car, an ice scraper, a massager, an iron and a pillow. Instead of rushing to insert the blocks like typical players, Brian took his time to make sure he was confident in his answers.

“25 seconds,” Carey said of the time left on the clock. “20 seconds. He’s not rushing as much as everyone else that plays this game does.”

After Brian moved the numbered blocks into positions he felt were the correct answer, Brian finished the game with 10 seconds remaining. When the buzzer finally went off, the audience wasn’t impressed with his choices and groaned at the final result.

Carey seemed to be taken aback and took a short pause before saying, “Well good morning, judgmental!”

Despite their disapproving reactions, Carey revealed that Brian got two answers correct. The game show host added that one of his correct answers might be the car and Brian asked for another 30 seconds on the clock to try again.

He went back to the board and switched the blocks for the car, but second guessed the changes and put the board back to the way it was before making a last minute swap for the lower stakes prizes.

With the new changes, Carey revealed that Brian had only one answer correct.

“Uh oh,” Brian grimaced as Carey added, “Hopefully it is the car.”

The television personality then revealed that Brian had won a brand new Toyota Corolla.

“Oh my God!” Brian yelled with delight as he ran off screen.

Maggie Sajak is ready to step onto the Wheel of Fortune stage.

The daughter of longtime host Pat Sajak is slipping on an evening gown to temporarily fill in for Vanna White, the long standing game show co-host. In an Instagram story post, the 28-year-old shared her practice round of the television job.

A short clip showed her walking along the Wheel of Fortune letter board. “Warming up for Wednesday,” Maggie captioned the strut.

In the meantime, White won’t actually be away. She’s changing up her Wheel of Fortune routine to compete as a contestant on the show. A clip shared by Maggie on Instagram teases the Celebrity Wheel of Fortune episode, which focuses on legendary hosts.

Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings — the current, dual Jeopardy! hosts — will compete alongside White.

This is far from the first time Maggie will be involved in Wheel of Fortune. She currently acts as the show’s Social Correspondent. Maggie often chimes in on epic game show happenings, and shares behind the scenes content from the show’s guests.

This will be the first time Maggie steps into the hosting shoes, though — as White has held the position of co-host since 1982. That is, if you don’t count her Wheel of Fortune debut in 1996 when she was just a baby. Or, her brief appearance as a “special letter toucher” in 2020 while her dad was dealing with a health scare off-screen.

On Friday, the show’s reps told PEOPLE that longtime host Sajak, 73, had to undergo emergency surgery for a blocked intestine.

While Sajak is expected to be fine, Thursday’s taping of the show, which is now in its 37th season, was canceled.

“The Wheel of Fortune taping on Thursday was canceled because host Pat Sajak underwent successful emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine,” the show posted to its social media channels. “He is resting comfortably and looking forward to getting back to work. Taping resumed today as scheduled, and Vanna White has stepped in a host.”

Sajak has been hosting Wheel of Fortune, which is the longest-running syndicated game show in the U.S., since 1982. The show taped its 7,000th episode in May of last year.

The game show host has been married to Lesly Sajak, a photographer, since 1989, and the couple has two children, son Patrick, 29, and daughter Maggie, 25.

Last month, White opened up to PEOPLE about her and Sajak’s “brotherly and sisterly chemistry” — and revealed that in the 37 years they’ve been on air together, she and Sajak have never had a single fight in real life, except once about whether or not to put ketchup on a hot dog.

“We’re one big family,” she told PEOPLE of the Wheel of Fortune cast and crew. “It’s wonderful.”
