Good News, Bad News, and All the Answers for Happy’s Place Fans! Don’t Miss a Single Detail

Happy’s Place is now on a break for the rest of 2024 (but there is some good news)

It’s that time of year where a lot of shows go on their winter breaks. Happy’s Place has now aired its last episode of 2024, but there is some good news.

That’s right; there are no more new episodes of Happy’s Place in 2024. In a little bit of good news, there is a rerun on Friday, Dec. 20. This certainly suggests that NBC is happy with the series and wants to keep people tuning in. The episode will follow the airing of Shrek the Halls on the network.

What about the return date, though? We have some great news about that.

Why is Happy’s Place now on a break?

If NBC is happy enough with the show to put on reruns, why is the show taking a break? Well, yubi, this is just the time of year. All broadcast networks put a hold on new episodes of their shows this time of year, as the linear ratings take a dip. There’s no point risking the future of a show when a break is possible.

This also allows for scheduling. Even with the extra episodes that Happy’s Place has landed, there are still more weeks than episodes available for the standard September to May schedule. So, breaks are needed, and a longer one at Christmas and New Year helps with that.

When will Happy’s Place return with new episodes?

Those who love Reba McIntyre’s new series won’t need to wait too long for it to return. It’s actually the first series to make a comeback in 2025. Happy’s Place will return on Friday, Jan. 3 at 8/7c on NBC. It will be followed by new episodes of Lopez vs. Lopez and Dateline, bringing back a normal Friday night for us.

This is a shorter break than most other shows on NBC and most other networks. It’s only three weeks, so we really can’t complain!

Will Happy’s Place be renewed for season 2?

Of course, as we get to this time of the year, we look at the chances of our favorite shows being canceled or renewed. NBC doesn’t tend to make big decisions this early, unless a show has taken off more wildly than expected. So, it’s not surprising that we haven’t heard about a renewal just yet.

I do expect to see Happy’s Place renewed for season 2. According to TV Series Finale, the comedy is the third-most popular out of the genre on the network, just behind fellow freshman St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place. It sits in eighth out of all the scripted shows. Both of those figures are in terms of the demo, which is the number most broadcast networks follow.

Being so high up considering it airs on a Friday is an excellent feat. NBC is sure to want it to stick around!

Happy’s Place returns on Friday, Jan. 3 at 8/7c on NBC. Catch up on the series on Peacock.

Happy’s Place Season 2: Confirmation & Everything We Know

Country music superstar Rebe McEntire has returned to the small screen in NBC’s sitcom, Happy’s Place, and now the workplace comedy has scored a season 2 renewal. Created by Julie and Kevin Abbott, Happy’s Place concerns Bobbie (McEntire), yubi a woman who inherits her father’s bar after his death, and must co-manage the business with her much younger half-sister, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo). Putting the singer/songwriter’s powerful personality at the forefront, Happy’s Place aims to recreate the success of the six-season sitcom classic, Reba, including casting McEntire’s beloved former co-star Melissa Peterman.

Early reviews for Happy’s Place season 1 have been generally positive, and it’s clear that McEntire hasn’t lost a step when it comes to leading a TV show. Happy’s Place has deftly established a show universe which could stretch on for years, and NBC is hoping that the series can be another hit in the easy-to-produce genre. Sitcoms like Night Court have proven to be smashes for the network, and with a star like McEntire behind it, Happy’s Place could even top the sainted 2000’s staple, Reba. With all that said, NBC has ordered Happy’s Place season 2.

A Season 2 Production Timeline Is Revealed

Reba smiles toward the camera while surrounded by hearts in Happy's Place

sitcoms have lightning-quick production timelines and shouldn’t struggle to arrive before the end of 2025.

On the eve of season 1’s finale, the latest news arrived in the form of a production timeline for Happy’s Place season 2. The sitcom was renewed preemptively in February 2025, and now all eyes have turned to the upcoming season that will presumably arrive for the 2025-2026 fall slate. Series co-creator Kevin Abbott painted a clear picture for the upcoming year, saying We’ll probably start pre-production mid-April because of Reba’s schedule, before revealing June as the likeliest time for shooting to begin. Fortunately, sitcoms have lightning-quick production timelines and shouldn’t struggle to arrive before the end of 2025.

    Read Abbott’s full comments here:

So season 2, we’re actually starting up early. We’ll probably start pre-production mid-April because of Reba’s schedule on The Voice. We have to work around that. So we will start shooting again beginning of June. We do have leftover ideas from what would’ve been season 1 that we didn’t get to. So we definitely have those, and I’ll start up with the writers next week.

We’ve got a couple of new writers coming on, so I want to be open to any ideas that they might have to take these characters places. And I’d like to take a week or two off just to let my brain rest from living with these people. They’re noisy. But I have a lot more energy for season 2 already than I would normally have at the end of a season. And really, this cast has been marvelous. It’s been a fun season doing this show with these guys.

    Happy’s Place season 1 debuted on October 18, 2024.

Riding high on excellent ratings, decent reviews, and the undeniable star power of Reba McEntire, Happy’s Place was renewed for a second season in late February 2025. The news came while there were still a handful of season 1 episodes that hadn’t aired yet, speaking to the confidence that the network has in the sitcom. While there’s little known about season 2 quite yet, it’s expected that the sophomore season will be part of NBC’s fall 2025 slate. Co-creator Kevin Abbott has speculated that June is the earliest the show could start filming again.

Happy’s Place Season 2 Cast Details

Will Bobbie, Isabella, and Gabby Return?

As with most sitcoms, the cast of Happy’s Place is really the most important part of the series, and it usurps even the plot in terms of audience engagement. From the show’s inception, it was clear that the sitcom was built around the dynamic personality of country music superstar Reba McEntire, and her return as the whip-smart and headstrong co-owner of Happy’s, Bobby, is an absolute necessity. Likewise, the return of Melissa Peterman’s chatty bartender, Gabby, is also assured, since the network is banking on audience familiarity from the days of Reba.

Young Belissa Escobedo will need to return as the other half of the bar ownership duo, Isabella, and her burgeoning relationship with her half-sister is an important emotional thread. The series will no doubt employ a wide range of guest stars, but predicting who could appear is quite difficult. It’s also likely that those guest stars could burgeon into returning characters, but it’s hard to predict things like that until more information is available.

The presumptive cast of Happy’s Place season 2 includes:

Though Happy’s Place is a quintessential sitcom, the season 1 finale did an excellent job of setting the stage for season 2. While it’s expected that the regular trials and tribulations of running a successful business will continue, the show has clearly pivoted to be about relationships above all else. Bobbie and Isabella have finally grown to love one another, and a romance is budding between Bobbie and Emmett. However, romances in sitcoms are almost always rocky, and the lovebirds will certainly face their fair share of troubles.

Another Reba reunion is taking place on Happy’s Place with the upcoming episode, “Sisters Ink,” airing Friday, February 21.

After previously hosting Steve Howey, Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman are reuniting with fellow former costar Christopher Rich who is stepping in to play a tattoo artist named Maverick. In the episode, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo) gifts Bobbie (McEntire) matching sister mugs, and Bobbie feels compelled to think of an equally thoughtful gift.

The brainstorming process and presentation lead Isabella to expect that she and Bobbie will be getting matching tattoos, and presumably, shenanigans will ensue. Meanwhile, Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) and Takoda (Tokala Black Elk) will investigate where Emmett (Rex Linn) has been sneaking off to when he’s not in the kitchen at Happy’s Place.

For those who may need a refresher on the Reba of it all, Rich previously starred in the series as Brock Hart, the ex-husband of McEntire’s titular character, he memorably had an affair with Peterman’s character Barbara Jean. This marks one of Rich’s first major returns to television since suffering from a stroke in 2018.

“For him to have the courage to come do this and make everybody feel so comfortable… he did have a stroke and he’s back acting and that gives such inspiration to other people. You can do it,” McEntire told Entertainment Tonight about the reunion and Rich’s return to acting.

“I’m gonna get to the finish line. I may have to limp across it, but I’m getting there,” Rich told the outlet about delivering his performance for the episode.

“There’s magic here… and when you get to play with people that you have such a shorthand… you don’t have to explain stuff. You know that we’re gonna get each other. And also, I’m not gonna lie, it’s fun when the audience just gets so thrilled and tickled to see us all back together again,” Peterman added of the reunion.

Kat Dennings and Seann William Scott Reveal What It’s Really Like Working with Tim Allen (Exclusive)

Kat Dennings and Seann William Scott are getting candid about what it’s like working with their legendary costar Tim Allen.

Ahead of the Wednesday, March 19 season finale of their ABC sitcom Shifting Gears, Dennings and Scott spoke with PEOPLE about what Allen, 71, is really like on set. Before meeting the Toy Story actor in real life, Dennings, 38, knew from her years of working in Hollywood to keep her expectations in check.

“I have learned through experience that you just never really know how someone’s going to be, especially when they have such a long-running career,” she tells PEOPLE. “Sometimes they’re exactly what you think, sometimes they’re the complete opposite.”

Thankfully, in Allen’s case, the comedian proved to be “kind” and “welcoming” to everyone on set. “I was very happily surprised,” Dennings says.

The 2 Broke Girls alum also shared that Allen loves to make the crew and his costars laugh. “He has the funny bone of a 9-year-old boy,” she adds, noting that her TV dad often “walks into walls” and “bangs something and scares everybody.”

“He just has a blast,” Dennings says.

As for Scott, 48, working with Allen has been a special experience because he reminds the American Pie actor of his late father.

“He kind of reminds me of my dad, actually,” he says. “My dad passed away a while ago, you know, but even one of my brothers who loves the show sent me a text. He’s like, ‘Tim really reminds me of dad,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, you know, it’s true. He does.’”

Beyond reminding him of his father, Scott was impressed by how genuinely “fun” Allen is when they’re working together.

“I think when you’ve had that much success, there’s a good chance somebody could come in and not be as fun to work with and maybe just be kind of a jerk,” Scott tells PEOPLE.

Instead, Allen is “just funny and always cracking jokes,” according to Scott. He adds, “He’s definitely a guy’s guy, you know?”

In the season 1 finale of Shifting Gears, Allen’s Matt finds himself in the tricky position of trying to stay neutral as his daughter Riley (Dennings) tries to decide between reuniting with her ex or forging a new path for her and her kids. ABC hasn’t renewed the comedy for season 2 yet, but Scott and Dennings are both eager to continue exploring their characters for years to come.

A Touching Transformation: The Heartfelt Story Behind John Goodman’s Striking New Look for ‘The Conners’

John Goodman’s weight loss journey was a slow and steady process, focusing on the right diet and exercise plan.
The actor made significant lifestyle changes to prioritize his health after struggling with weight fluctuations in the past.
Goodman’s incredible transformation, shedding over 200 lbs, is a testament to his commitment and consistency over several years.

The iconic John Goodman has one of Hollywood’s most underrated careers. Though his journey to acting was unconventional, Goodman has thrived for decades. From his countless iconic roles, to his stellar voice work with Pixar, Goodman has seen and done it all, and has had a good time while doing so.

After spending years in the public spotlight, John Goodman decided to make a change, and the world has taken note of his incredible weight loss. For the bulk of his career, he was a large guy, but the slimmed-down actor tried losing weight countless times, only for things to regress.

So, how did John Goodman shed the weight and keep it off this time around? A slow and steady process, yubi coupled with the right diet and exercise plan, played a pivotal role in Goodman turning his health around.

John Goodman Couldn’t Look At Himself In The Mirror During His Weight Gain

What a difference finding the right method makes!

Legendary actor, John Goodman, had been a larger guy for many years

“I know it sounds sappy, but it was a waste. It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you’re going to eat next,” Goodman said of his weight in a 2007 interview.

But in recent years, Goodman has turned a corner, and has taken hold of his health. The media has taken note of his incredible physical transformation. It’s all thanks to finding the diet and exercise routine that worked best for him.

When talking with Peter Travers, Goodman opened up about his previous bad habits, and how it affected his view of himself.

“Then this time I wanted to do it slowly, move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore. And it gives me the energy to work, ‘cause work is very draining,” the actor said.

“I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself. You’re shaving in the mirror and you don’t want to look at yourself. It gets dangerous,” Goodman added.

In a conversation with Rolling Stone promoting The Righteous Gemstones, Goodman talked about the physical activities he used to slim down.

“That was just getting out and walking the dogs. I was boxing up until then, and I haven’t been able to do that since Covid because I’m lazy. I haven’t been exercising, but I’m going to start a routine again this summer where I can get some stuff done. I’ve just let everything go just because I haven’t had the energy because of the jobs,” he said.

As for his diet, it was revealed in 2015 that Goodman was using the Mediterranean diet, which focuses on veggies, seafood, and legumes.

The combination of these two factors, as well as Goodman’s consistency, has helped him shed more than 200 lbs.

For Goodman this is incredible, as the actor revealed that he would yo-yo his weight in his younger days.

Goodman Had Difficulty Maintaining Weight Loss In The Past, But Finally Found Something That Worked For Him

    John Goodman and Roseanne Barr

According to Goodman himself, “I just stopped eating all the time. I’d have a handful of food and it’d go to my mouth. I was just eating all the time. I was just eating alcoholically. In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a 6-pack of bud or whatever and just go back to my old habits.”

“Alchoholically” is of note here, as Goodman has struggled with alcoholism for some time now. He even compared his eating to his drinking.

“I think you’re trying to fill a hole that can’t be filled unless it’s filled with goodness, some kind of spirituality, not saying religion,” he explained. “But just a belief in something higher than yourself, a purpose. But instead of filling it with booze or cocaine or food, you just acknowledge that it’s there. You can’t fill it. And you go on and live with it,” he told Peter Travers.

It’s truly incredible to see what Goodman was able to accomplish, and more importantly, he was able to stick to it. It was a slow process for Goodman, one that took place over the course of several years. This helped ensure that his method would stick.

With a new lease on life, Goodman is thriving, both personally and professionally. He is still doing consistent film and television work, most notably The Conners and The Righteous Gemstones, both of which have massive followings.

In a time when people want things faster than ever, John Goodman’s weight loss journey is proof that all paths are worth walking, regardless of the speed it takes to get to the end of the road.

Confirmed: ‘Happy’s Place’ Season 2 Will Look Dramatically Different, Says Kevin Abbott!

Happy’s Place showrunner Kevin Abbott confirms that season 2 will have a BIG CHANGE

Happy’s Place Season 2 Will Feature Bigger Role For That Conners Guest Star, EP Confirms: “We Get To Branch Out A Little More”

Happy’s Place showrunner Kevin Abbott confirms that season 2 will expand its cast, with certain guest stars from season 1 returning in more significant roles. The NBC sitcom follows the life of Bobbie (Reba McEntire) as she runs her late father’s tavern, the titular Happy’s Place. The show balances heartfelt moments with sharp humor, creating a rich environment in which the ensemble cast shines. With Happy’s Place season 1 focusing on establishing the show and its characters, season 2 will bring back some key guest stars in more prominent roles.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Abbott shared that he intentionally limited the guest cast in season 1 to prioritize the main characters’ development. However, season 2 will bring back key figures like Maritza and Gracie, allowing the show to delve more into Bobbie’s personal life. Abbott also teased that more guest stars could appear, expanding the world of Happy’s Place. Read his full comments below:

Yeah, absolutely. Season 1, I wanted to keep the guest cast small. There’s only so much real estate for our characters, and I wanted our characters to have all the dialogue and whatnot, so I wanted the audience to get to know them. Season 2, we get to branch out a little bit more, and we saw Maritza, we saw Isabelle’s mom, we saw Gracie, Bobbie’s daughter, we saw Steve, we saw Chris.

Those two, especially Maritza and Gracie, are going to come back because I love the actresses. They were phenomenal. Their chemistry with our cast was marvelous, and the backstory behind them is going to be really interesting. I think there are stories to be told between Maritza and Bobbie and Gracie and Isabella. We plan on having them back. We plan on having a couple of other guest cast hopefully too, if they pan out. Some fun people to explore other areas of our characters’ lives.

What This Means for Happy’s Place Season 2

Expanding The World Beyond The Bar

Abbott’s confirmation of the returning guest stars suggests that Happy’s Place season 2 will go deeper into the personal lives of its main characters. With Maritza and Gracie set to have bigger roles, their storylines could provide more insight into Bobbie’s relationships with those outside her core circle. Bobbie’s dynamic with her daughter Gracie (Emma Kenney), who was deployed overseas and later returns to Knoxville to surprise her mother, only to be surprised to discover that she now has an aunt, could bring new emotional depth to the show, especially as Bobbie continues to adjust to her new responsibilities.

The mention of Maritza (Justina Machado) is also exciting. Her connection with Bobbie may introduce new layers of character development and drama. Maritza is the mother of Isabella, whom Bobbie discovers is her half-sister after learning her father had an affair with Maritza. Abbott’s enthusiasm for expanding the world of Happy’s Place also leaves the door open for even more guest appearances, possibly featuring familiar faces from The Conners or other sitcoms. By bringing in new characters while still focusing on the established relationships, season 2 has the potential to elevate the show while maintaining its humor.

Our Take On The Growing Happy’s Place Cast

A Promising Sign For Season 2

Bobbie, Isabella, and Emmett in Happy's Place season 1 finale

One of the biggest challenges for sitcoms is finding the correct balance between core character development and introducing new faces. Happy’s Place took a smart approach in season 1 by ensuring the audience had time to connect with Bobbie and the main cast before expanding its world. Now, with season 2 on the horizon, Abbott’s plan to bring back fan-favorite guest stars indicates that the show is evolving naturally while keeping its heart intact.

By expanding Bobbie’s relationships outside the bar, Happy’s Place can explore new storylines that keep the show fresh and engaging. Whether it’s diving into Bobbie’s role as a mother, showcasing new dynamics with Maritza, or introducing additional guest stars, season 2 is shaping up to be a compelling next chapter.

Blockbuster Deal! CBS Dazzles Tim Allen & Richard Karn with Jaw-Dropping $1 Billion Offer for New Sitcom!

CBS Makes Bold Move: Offers $1 Billion Deal to Tim Allen and Richard Karn for New Sitcom

In a surprising and ambitious move, CBS has reportedly offered Tim Allen and Richard Karn a staggering $1 billion deal to star in a brand-new sitcom that promises to shake up the entertainment industry. The proposed show, which is being described as a “non-woke” comedy, aims to bring back a more traditional approach to sitcom storytelling, reminiscent of classic TV comedies that emphasized humor over political messaging.

Home Improvement' stars Tim Allen, Richard Karn on reuniting for new series: A 'live version' of 'Tool Time' | Fox News

    A High-Stakes Investment in Comedy

The entertainment industry has seen its fair share of big deals, but CBS’s $1 billion investment signals a major shift in network television strategy. Sources close to the network suggest that executives are banking on Allen and Karn’s iconic chemistry to deliver a hit sitcom that resonates with a broad audience.

This sitcom, still in early development, is expected to move away from politically charged content that has become common in modern television, instead focusing on family-friendly humor and timeless storytelling.

Tim Allen & Richard Karn: The Perfect Duo for This New Project

Tim Allen and Richard Karn became household names in the 1990s thanks to their work on Home Improvement, a sitcom that remains a fan favorite. Their on-screen partnership continued in later projects, including Assembly Required, proving their ability to connect with audiences.

With Allen’s signature humor and traditional values, paired with Karn’s likable and steady comedic presence, the two are expected to bring a much-needed energy to the CBS sitcom lineup.

    What Makes This Sitcom Different?

Described as a fresh alternative to the current trend in television, the new show aims to appeal to audiences looking for lighthearted entertainment without the divisive political undertones. A CBS insider revealed:

“This show is about making people laugh and bringing back the kind of sitcoms that made everyone feel good—without pushing an agenda. It’s about genuine humor, real-life situations, and characters that audiences can connect with.”

CBS’s decision comes at a time when viewers have been vocal about their desire for sitcoms that prioritize comedy over social messaging. Industry experts suggest this move could signal a shift in television trends, bringing back the kind of storytelling that defined some of the biggest sitcom hits in history.

Will This Move Pay Off for CBS?

Investing $1 billion in a single sitcom is an unprecedented move, but CBS is betting big on Allen and Karn’s ability to deliver ratings and bring back a nostalgic TV audience. Given the continued success of classic reruns and the resurgence of interest in traditional sitcoms, the network’s risk may very well pay off.

The show is set to premiere next year, and with the buzz already building, it’s clear that this sitcom has the potential to become one of the most talked-about television projects in recent memory.

    A New Era of Comedy?

CBS’s commitment to this project highlights a growing demand for sitcoms that prioritize comedy over cultural debates. Whether this show will redefine the landscape of TV remains to be seen, but with Tim Allen and Richard Karn at the helm, the entertainment world is watching closely.

Stay tuned for more details as the show moves closer to production and CBS prepares to roll out what could be one of the most significant sitcoms in modern television history.

Eighteen Years Later: A “Reba” Reunion is Sparking Wild Fan Frenzy Thanks to Cast Update!

Happy’s Place Cast Update Sets Up A Major Reba Reunion, 18 Years After The Comedy Series Ended

The new cast update for Happy’s Place confirms a Reba reunion. The new 2024 comedy series follows Bobbie (Reba McEntire), a woman who unexpectedly finds herself partnering with her lost half-sister, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), in running her late father’s tavern. Since its release in October 2024, Happy’s Place has earned mostly positive reviews and solid viewer retention. On top of that, McEntire has already reunited with several Reba cast members, and now it appears that list will grow.

Now, Variety reported that Christopher Rich and Justina Machado will have guest roles in Happy’s Place. This casting news marks a Reba reunion between McEntire and Rich, who portrayed the role of Brock Hart, the ex-husband in the 2007 sitcom.

In Happy’s Place, Rich will portray Maverick, a funny tattoo artist who can only do tattoos with his right hand due to a stroke. On the other hand, Machado, known for her roles in Jane the Virgin, One Day at a Time, and Queen of the South, plays Maritza, Isabella’s mother and a successful lawyer.

What This Means for Happy’s Place and Its Characters

Happy’s Place Is Tapping Into Recognizable Talent

Rich and Machado’s casting reaffirms Happy’s Place’s commitment to tapping into familiar and veteran talent. Rich and McEntire’s reunion is clearly not the first, as the series has already brought many familiar Reba cast members to the spotlight, including Melissa Peterman and Steve Howey.

While Howey has just a guest role as Danny, Peterman portrays the main character, Gabby, a bartender who helps Bobby at the tavern. However, Rich is major since this would mark his reunion with McEntire after the 2001 comedy series ended 18 years ago.

On the other hand, Machado’s involvement enriches Happy’s Place’s ensemble with a new character who brings depth, strength, and a no-nonsense attitude.

With the key premise focused on Bobby learning about her lost half-sister, the introduction of Isabella’s mother could establish more details about the relationship between her and Happy. However, it’s uncertain when either Machado or Rich will make their guest appearances.

Our Take on Happy’s Place’s Guest Star Announcement

New Characters Promise New Relationships & Dynamics

Bringing Rich and Machado into Happy’s Place further strengthens the show’s character-driven approach. Rich’s appearance provides a nostalgic nod to their time on Reba together, while Machado adds a revived dynamic to the series, particularly how it will impact Isabella and Bobbie.

These additions demonstrate the sitcom’s commitment to diversifying its character roster and creating a viewing experience where humor and heart coexist. As Happy’s Place continues to evolve, guest roles will likely contribute to its overall success and audience engagement.

“Last Man Standing” Shockwave! Star Unleashes a BOMBSHELL Revelation

Last Man Standing Star Has “No Doubt” Tim Allen Will Recruit More LMS Stars For Shifting Gears

Kat Dennings as Riley and Tim Allen as Matt in Shifting Gears.

Last Man Standing star Nancy Travis thinks that Tim Allen will recruit more stars for Shifting GearsLast Man Standing was a sitcom led by Travis and Allen, who played a married couple. The series originally ran nine seasons from 2011 to 2021. This year, Allen takes on a new comedy by playing a widower and car workshop owner named Matt whose life is transformed when his estranged daughter and her teenage children arrive at his house. In addition to Allen, Shifting Gears features a leading cast including Kat Dennings, Seann William Scott, Daryl Mitchell, and Maxwell Simkins.

Speaking with Us Weekly, Travis speaks on whether more Last Man Standing actors will appear on Shifting Gears. Travis gives a simple “of course” in response, and pointed out that “most of the crew was from Last Man Standing.” She even goes so far as to say that she “wouldn’t be surprised if everybody from Last Man Standing shows up on Shifting Gears in one way or another.” She also believes this is what Allen would most want for his show. Check out the full quote from Travis below:

Oh, of course. I have no doubt [about that]. Tim is nothing if not loyal. So it was great to walk on that set and see most of the crew was from Last Man Standing. The director John Pasquin did so many episodes of Last Man Standing and is a personal friend. It was just so great to feel this sense of reunion.

I wouldn’t be surprised if everybody from Last Man Standing shows up on Shifting Gears in one way or another yubi. If Tim has his way, he’ll make sure that everybody from [costar Kat Dennings‘] 2 Broke Girls comes on too.

What This Means For Shifting Gears

Last Man Standing Has A Lot Of Actors To Choose From

Nancy Travis and Tim Allen in Shifting Gears

After playing Allen’s on-screen wife for years on Last Man StandingTravis recently appeared in Shifting Gears season 1, episode 6, “Valentines.” There, she played the role of Charlotte, a widow who Matt meets. Though they were not playing a married couple this time around, it was sweet to see the stars come together again after acting opposite each other for years. It also likely helped draw in fans from the previous show, given the network TV crossover.

Last Man Standing gave star Tim Allen the chance to reunite with some of his Home Improvement co-stars and here’s every actor who guested on the show.

What Travis is suggesting would be even more exciting for longer-term fans of Allen’s work, for she thinks it would be fitting for Shifting Gears season 2 to bring in even more cast members from the previous show. Two of the original three daughters in Last Man Standing, Mandy and Kristin, changed actors over the course of the seasons, giving more potential stars to pick for cameos. Last Man Standing‘s youngest daughter, Eve, was played by Kaitlyn Dever, who is a much better-known star now than she was when the show began, making her appearance less likely.

Our Take On These Potential Shifting Gears Cameos

The Cameos Could Help Attract Fans To The Poorly Reviewed Show

Shifting Gears has gotten mixed reviews so far, so more cameos could either help or hurt the show. Screen Rant‘s Ana Dumaraog gave the show 5 out of 10 stars, noting that “Shifting Gears is also stuck narratively” and that “its success is directly tied to how much the audience loves the actor and the role he is known for.” By casting more Last Man Standing actors, Shifting Gears could lean into such criticism and rely on fans of past series to keep the lackluster show alive.
