‘The Voice’: Adam Levine Lambasts ‘Idol,’ Cee Lo Wants More ‘Emotion’

“Hit me with emotion” is Cee Lo Green’s advice in episode three of NBC’s “The Voice,” advice that contestants might have well used in week two of the new competition singing show.

“Hit me with emotion.” That was Cee Lo Green’s advice on last night’s (May 3) second episode of NBC’s “The Voice,” and it was counsel that contestants could have well used. While last week’s premiere of NBC’s new singing competition came with a fair amount of discovery — new voices, as well as rules to learn — that went by the wayside in week two, as the the four celebrity judges built their teams up to eight each with an unfortunately lackluster pool.

The most encouraging news came when Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo and Adam Levine did not pick certain hopefuls, proving they had discerning taste. One Josh Hand mumbled his way through Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi,” and Angela Wolff took a risk and sang a song associated with mentor Blake Shelton’s fiance Miranda Lambert, “House That Built Me.” The judges stayed put in both cases, refusing to spin around in their chairs to see who was performing these songs at karaoke level and impressing no one.

Levine took the opportunity to set “The Voice” apart from the show it intends to rival. “The people that we’re not turning our chairs around for could win ‘American Idol,’” he said. “‘The Voice’ is after something more — that extra thing, that unbelievable, extra spectacular, mindblowing thing.”

By not spinning their chairs around, the judges indicated that they’re basing their decisions on vocal ability. But more often than not, their comments also betrayed a visceral curiosity about how a contestant’s voice might match up to his or her appearance; when Adam Levine inadvertently winds up picking a man instead of a woman, it’s clear that a singer who gets the mind reeling is just as valuable as one with an impressive set of pipes.

ADAM LEVINE ON RETURN OF CEE-LO, CHRISTINA TO THE VOICE

Those who were chosen hardly made multiple chairs spin. Nakia, a burly fellow from Austin in his mid-30s, took a chance and sang Cee Lo’s hit “Forget You,” gaining the songwriter as his mentor; Christina Aguilera made Justin Grennano her first guy selection; and Devon Burley, with an unimpressive version of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours,” was paired with Adam Levine. Shelton and Aguilera each wound up with overtly country singers.

Unlike week one, there was not a lot of competition for singers. Dia Frampton showed promise in term of being easy to mold, but too many others lacked personality or consistency in their performances. Why Tyler Robinson chose “The Voice” as the avenue to come out of the closet to his father is anyone’s guess. Why he sang Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister,” the most overplayed song of 2010, is a bigger mystery. Meanwhile, the Thompson not-quite twins (pig farmers, actually) wound up with Cee Lo in a last-second moment of desperation.

Promos for week three indicate that it’s the judges who will be put on the hot seat, though anyone from last night’s episode who expects to top their predecessors will need to heat up in a hurry.

When it comes to the original coaches who appeared on The Voice, it’s not hard to think of Adam Levine.

Having been a mentor on the NBC series since its 2011 premiere, viewers watched him help three different winners emerge on top: Javier Colon in season 1, Tessanne Chin in season 5 and Jordan Smith in season 9. He also made an impression as a coach on the show for 16 straight seasons, before he left in 2019 to pursue his own musical aspirations and spend time with loved ones.

Most recently, season 27 saw Adam’s grand return to The Voice stage as he became a coach once again. We hate to break the hearts of Adam fans everywhere, but once again, Adam Levine is leaving The Voice ahead of season 28 premiering in the fall of 2025. And even though there’s always a chance he could come back to the show for another season, he already alluded to a very good reason behind this exit.

As fans are well aware, Adam is part of a Grammy Award-winning pop band called Maroon 5. Having released multiple albums and gone on successful tours over the last three decades, fans have been eagerly waiting to see if the group will debut any new music.

Well, it looks like listeners don’t have to wait too long. Ahead of Adam releasing Maroon 5’s new single “Priceless” with singer Lisa, he went on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April 2025 to address rumors about his future in music.

“I’m gonna confirm the rumors are true,” Adam revealed at the time about Maroon 5 releasing new songs. “It’s true! The rumors are correct.”

What’s more, Adam noted there’s a lot more in store for Maroon 5 fans coming this year.

“I cannot divulge all the details, but the details are, basically, roughly, there’s a song coming, a single coming at the end of the month-ish,” he added. “I’m really excited about it. Album is coming over the summer. Non-specifically, around the summertime. And then even more non-specifically, there is a tour coming in the fall-ish.”

Well, isn’t this exciting news to share with the world? Naturally, Adam’s fans were ecstatic after seeing this piece of information online.

“Adam Levine & his guys are legends who churned out loads of classics,” one person wrote in the YouTube comments. “THE LEGENDS ARE BACK,” another shouted. “So hype for new M5 music!!” a different follower added.

Even though there isn’t much out yet about Maroon 5’s next era of music, Adam and the band did share on their official website when fans can hear them play next. The group will be performing for the Dick’s Open golf tournament, which will occur at the En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, New York on July 11. What’s more, fans can already purchase tickets for the event online.

We’ll sure miss Adam when The Voice season 28 premieres this fall!

After seven seasons as a judge on the show, hitmaker Katy Perry announced that season 22 would be her last, with Carrie now stepping into her shoes.

As Carrie took to the judging panel for the very first time and endured an emotional and teary episode due to a slew of moving performances, fans were quick to react to her judging debut.

“It was the best first episode ever,” said one fan on X, reacting to Carrie’s judging debut.

“Jukebox Carrie Underwood is way better than Katy Perry sorry not sorry,” said another.

“I literally just tweeted the same thing,” said someone else in response.

“She runs circles around Perry,” said a fourth.

“I love Carrie Underwood on American Idol,” declared a fifth.

    DIVIDED OPINION

A sixth person then said: “Jukebox Carrie is one of the greatest American Idol judges ever!”

“I like Carrie Underwood but I miss Katy Perry as a judge,” said a seventh, who expressed how they were missing the Firework singer.

“Don’t get me wrong…I love Carrie, but missing the dynamic of Katy Perry,” echoed an eighth.

This comes after Carrie failed to contain her emotions on Sunday night when she broke down in tears.

Breanna Nix performed Jesus, Take The Wheel when she appeared on the show.

The 25-year-old mom-of-one walked into the audition room with her baby son Emerson, and her husband Austin.

Emerson sat on Carrie’s lap while Breanna performed with her husband who played the piano.

Who are the past American Idol winners?

The previous American Idol winners include:

    Kelly Clarkson (2002)

    Ruben Studdard (2003)

    Fantasia Barrino (2004)

    CARRIE CRYING PRETTY

As Breanna sang, Carrie could be seen getting emotional as baby Emerson almost fell asleep due to his mom’s soothing vocals.

Carrie then sniffled as she teared up, saying: “I’m sorry, he’s just so adorable and sweet.”

Breaking her silence about the emotional moment she had on the show, Carrie said on X: “I had a hard time going back and forth between talking to Emerson and the adults.

“Sorry you got the baby talk @breannanixmusic ! What a great audition!!! Such a beautiful family!”

    MAJOR CHANGE FOR SEASON 23

While coming back to the show that “started it all” is emotional enough – producers made specific choices this season that tugged on Carrie’s heartstrings even further, a source told The U.S. Sun.

For the Showstoppers Showcase during Hollywood Week, producers chose to film at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

The venue is the same exact space Carrie filmed her Hollywood Week at as a contestant back in 2005.

“The Orpheum Theatre was Carrie’s first time performing on a real stage and being in LA so it has a lot of sentimental value.

“That was definitely a consideration when it came to the decision of choosing where to film for this season.

“It was the first time Carrie had been on a plane. The first time she performed in front of the audience. It really is what started it all,” the insider said.

The theatre is said to be very “sentimental” for Carrie – which led to an “emotional moment” when she was filming this current season.

‘Friends’: All 10 Seasons, Ranked Worst to Best

    Friends

In trying times, you can always call up your Friends — at least, as long as the show is still available to stream on HBO Max and/or you’ve (wisely) invested in physical copies of the show. The gentle-humored sitcom has been there for us as TV comfort food for decades now, and even though some elements of the show have not aged well, most of the jokes still land, and the relationships between the six Central Perk regulars still feel personal and authentic.

Some seasons of Friends are better than others, though, so if you’ve only got time for one barca-lounger binge session, you might want to stick with the seasons that will keep you clap-clap-clap-clapping along with joy the whole time.

Here’s our ranking of all 10 seasons of Friends, from worst to best.

Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston in Friends - 'The One in Barbados, Part II' - Season 9
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    10. Friends Season 9

As much as group newcomers Mike (Paul Rudd) and Emma bring to the table during this season, there are so many weird elements to it — Phoebe’s (Lisa Kudrow) rat babies, Ross’ (David Schwimmer) fake funeral, e.g. — that there are actually skippable episodes. Worse, the end of the season soft launches the Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) hookup in a way that makes them seem suddenly dense, impulsive, and frankly unkind. One saving grace of the season is the arrival of Rachel’s other sister, Amy (Christina Applegate), in all of her slap-fighting, dish-destroying glory.

David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox Arquette in Friends - 'The One With The Routine aka The One With The Rockin' New Year' - Season 6
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    9. Friends Season 6

There are some decent moments in this season, including Monica’s (Courteney Cox) proposal (and all of the goofy confusion that leads up to it), the “unagi” showdown, the routine, and the hysterical fight that ensues as Rachel reluctantly moves out of the apartment. Still, a lot of this season is packed with filler episodes like Ross’ neon teeth, the whole apothecary table dustup, and Ross dating a way-too-young student in Elizabeth (Alexandra Holden)…. and Rachel dating her father Paul (Bruce Willis), too.

Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox in Friends - 'The One With The Late Thanksgiving' - Season 10
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    8. Friends Season 10

The final season of Friends ends on a high note with the “I got off the plane” closer that finally brings Ross and Rachel back together for good — and forever associates planes with phalanges. What leads up to it, though, is a season filled with uncomfortable moments between Joey and Rachel and some tough dramatic beats with Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Monica’s fertility struggles. It all adds up to an uneven season.

Courteney Cox Arquette, Steve Susskind, Matthew Perry in Friends - 'The One With Chandler & Monica's Wedding, Part I & II' - Season 7
    Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    7. Friends Season 7

Chances are, most people will remember this season as the one when Monica and Chandler finally say “I do” (and we end on the cliffhanger of Rachel’s surprise pregnancy), but there’s a lot more to it than that. This is also the season with so many standout subplots, like the magical healing chair, the cheesecake, and the holiday armadillo, all of which were prime examples of great situational comedy. Dragging the season down, though, is the horrifying episode with Ross’ cousin Cassie (Denise Richards) that can really only be watched through fingers.

Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and Jennifer Aniston in 'The One After I Do' - Season 8
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    6. Friends Season 8

The arc of this season is Rachel’s pregnancy, and man alive, does the show capitalize on that, comedy-wise. The videotape episode alone makes this season an automatic best-of, but we also get the birthing tape, the shower meltdown, and the whole sweater incident out of it, too. It’s also the season where Joey first realizes he has romantic feelings for Rachel, and in this case, it’s handled with so much heart that it’s harder to hate it here. Other standout moments of the season include the Halloween party, the “I Hate Rachel Green” club reveal, and the bath. It’s the finale that stops this one from a higher ranking on this list because it’s just too contrived.

    5. Friends Season 5

There’s a lot to love about this season. It’s the one when Ross (with his annoying air purifier) moves in with Joey and Chandler and has his “my sandwich” meltdown, when Rachel keeps making a fool of herself at work, when Phoebe gives birth to the triplets, and when the anniversary trip to Vegas takes place. Most importantly, though, it’s the first season where Chandler and Monica become a real-deal couple, resulting in the classic “they don’t know that we know they know we know” debacle, and also where the show’s physical comedy reached its apotheosis with “pivot.”

    4. Friends Season 2

The actors were already deeply familiar with the inner workings of their characters by the time this season — which was brimming with physical comedy triumphs, by the way — rolled around. This was the season when Ross and Rachel finally became, well, Ross and Rachel (after a couple of key setbacks, of course), and the season also boasted standout moments like Joey’s stalker, the prom video, Chandler’s wackadoodle roommate, and Rachel’s double birthday party bonanza, to name a few highlights.

Matthew Perry in Friends - Season 4
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    3. Friends Season 4

Right from the start, this season is on a mission to re-separate Ross and Rachel in a way that is truly believable, and all it takes is one 18-page letter (front and back!) to get it done. From there, the season is off to the races, with both pursuing serious new love interests — Emily (Helen Baxendale) and Joshua (Tate Donovan), respectively. The former takes the whole gang to London for what’d prove to be a disastrous wedding event and another signature finale cliffhanger. Elsewhere, this is also the season where Monica first falls in love with Richard (Tom Selleck), Chandler gets cuffed to Rachel’s boss’ filing cabinet, Monica and Rachel lose their apartment to Joey and Chandler in another fantastic bottle episode, Phoebe has her brother’s babies, the girls drink beer in wedding dresses, everyone’s lives become overrun by “free porn,” Chandler and Joey get robbed, and, well, Chandler ends up in a box for kissing Kathy (Paget Brewster).

Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow in Friends - 'The One With the Football' - Season 3
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    2. Friends Season 3

“The One Where No One’s Ready” is often cited as one of Friends‘ greatest episodes, and for good reason: It was a true bottle episode that gave us the iconic image of Joey wearing all of Chandler’s clothes at once. Season 3 also featured a surprise flashback with unexpected backstory elements of the characters, the arrival of the chick and the duck, and, perhaps most memorably, the “we were on a break” saga that would live in infamy.

Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and Jennifer Aniston in Friends - 'The One With The Stoned Guy' - season 1
NBC / Warner Bros. / Everett Collection

    1. Friends Season 1

It’s not uncommon for a show’s first season to be its best, but that was especially true with Friends. The show hit the ground running with its smart pacing and three-story arc structure in the pilot. The first season also briefly included cold opens, which worked well for its quick-witted crew (and should’ve stuck around longer), but more importantly, the situations were just downright hilarious.

Throughout the first 24 episodes, we get the first taste of the themes that would inform the entire series: the will-they-or-won’t-they arc of Ross and Rachel and the friends’ new Thanksgiving tradition. The season also featured a rare crossover with fellow NBC Thursday night comedies SeinfeldMad About You, and Madman of the People, via the blackout episode. It was also the one with Marcel the monkey and his many hijinks, and most importantly, it was a season of discovery for all of the characters as they settled into the archetypes we’d all come to know and love.

Will There Be A 'Golden Girls' Reboot? Here's What We Know | Decider

Rumors have been swirling online about a Golden Girls 2024 remake, but we’re here to report that the rumors of a new Golden Girls show are, unfortunately, untrue. Dorothy, Rose, Sophia, and Blanche will not be returning to Miami as we thought.

The unfortunate news comes from Dexerto, which debunked the fake news release that initially sparked the rumors.

The Facebook page YODA BBY ABY — which has been become known for covering fake television shows and movies — started the hoax thanks to a poorly photoshopped poster that shows Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, and Lisa Kudrow playing the iconic Golden Girls.

“This June, get ready to laugh until it hurts with Disney+’s brand new series, ‘The Golden Girls,’ featuring the comedic genius of Tina Fey as Dorothy, Amy Poehler as Sophia, Lisa Kudrow as Rose, and Maya Rudolph as Blanche,” the fake press release states. “Dive into 10 hilarious episodes where Dorothy and her feisty mother Sophia shake up life in Miami by moving in with the flirtatious Blanche and the sweetly naive Rose.”

It continues, “Prepare for a whirlwind of witty banter, unexpected friendships, and the funniest golden era you’ve ever seen – only on Disney+!”

The post obviously sparked some excitement amongst fans, garnering over 79,000 reactions and almost 37,000 comments, not to mention 47,000 shares.

The Golden Girls was a hit on NBC when it premiered in 1985, running for seven season until 1992.

Fans who are looking for more should know there has already been a reboot of Golden Girls: The short-lived 1992 reboot The Golden Palace, in which the ladies bought and began working at a hotel. Bea Arthur did not return for the spinoff, though she made a guest appearance in a double episode.

But series creator Susan Harris has already confirmed that a Golden Girls reboot could never happen without its original cast.

“They’ve wanted to do Golden Girls the Musical and re-do Golden Girls, and we’ve always said no because Golden Girls would not be Golden Girls without that cast,” she told Entertainment Weekly in 2017.

She noted that the Golden Girls reboot was not as successful as the original series because Arthur did not return as a regular character.

“Without Dorothy, it didn’t work,” Harris said, adding that The Golden Girls was “what it was and that’s the way it should remain.”

Fans of the show can instead stream all seven seasons of The Golden Girls (the original) on Disney+.

Following reports that the sixth season of The Conners would be its last, the Roseanne spinoff series may end up extending its stay.

Both series star John Goodman and producers of the ABC comedy spurred rumors of The Conners nearing its end back in spring 2023. “I think we may be coming to an end on it,” Goodman said. “It’s lasted longer than I thought we would.”

“Sara Gilbert expressed to the network that we don’t want to go out without knowing that we are going out with a series finale so we can build to the right ending — and at this point in time, we feel that [next season] is possibly going to be the last season of The Conners,” exec producer Bruce Helford said at the time. “I would not [say that] definitively because the numbers were so good this season, and we’ve all had a really great time… but it’s definitely a possibility.”

But now Helford and fellow EP Dave Caplan say the network seems uninterested in calling it quits on the Conners clan. “As far as going forward, it’s funny… When I made that comment [about it possibility of it being the final season], the response by ABC was, ‘We never agreed to that,’” Helford told TVLine.

“When we feel like we’re not telling relatable, interesting, novel stories anymore, we’ll pull the plug,” Caplan continued, before adding, “The journeys that these characters are on are inspiring us to go places we haven’t. The show continues to feel fresh and interesting, so nobody is all that anxious for it to end.”

The Conners' Poised For Renewal, Will End With Abbreviated Season 7

A 13-episode Season 6 will premiere early next month, and the cast and crew have plenty to celebrate this year with their 100th episode occurring midseason in Episode 7. Could there be even more milestones ahead for the comedy? Time will tell!

Roseanne Barr has claimed she turned down a guest star role on The Conners, saying that show bosses wanted her to appear as a “ghost.”

The comedian made the claim in her new documentary, Roseanne is America, which is available to purchase on demand. She said that after ABC canceled the Roseanne revival in 2018 and transformed it into the spinoff series The Conners, she was called up to come back.

“They called me and asked me if I would like to come back as a guest star,” Barr claimed, per People. “You’re coming back as a ghost.”

The actress expressed shock at the request, adding, “You’re asking me to come back to the show that you f****** stole from me and killed my ass, and now you want me to show up because you got s**t f****** ratings and play a ghost?”

Barr ultimately rejected the offer, saying, “I’m gonna be bowling that f****** week.”

The Conners premiered on October 16, 2018, as a continuation of the hit series Roseanne. This came after the Roseanne revival was canceled after one season due to controversial comments Barr made on X (then Twitter). Instead, the show spun off into The Conners, where Barr’s titular character was killed off in an accidental opioid overdose.

Speaking of the cancelation and subsequent spinoff, Barr stated, “Within three weeks, they revived the show as The Conners, and of course, they killed off my character Roseanne in an opioid overdose. Which was staggering because Glenn Quinn, who played Becky’s husband, actually died of an opioid overdose.”

The Conners wrapped up its seven-season run back in April with an emotional series finale that paid tribute to Barr’s character. The series finale saw the show’s main characters visiting Roseanne’s grave and John Goodman’s patriarch, Dan Conner, reflecting on his relationship with his late wife.

Roseanne is America, directed by Joel Gilbert, documents Barr’s early years, her career in comedy and television, her personal struggles, and public controversies. The doc also details her reunion with her daughter, who she placed for adoption as an infant.

“I have held off on posting anything about Night Court not continuing until I knew we did everything in our power to find another home for it,” Rauch wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 18. “Perhaps it was being raised on The Goonies ‘Never Say Die’ motto or straight up denial that I didn’t want this incredibly special experience to come to an end. That said, after turning over all the stones there were to be turned over, we’ve learned that it is officially the hour to say ‘farewell.’ Or at least ‘Until next time.’”

Rauch went on to express her “gratitude” to “each and every incredible individual who worked on this show and poured their hearts into it” and to “everyone who watched and supported us.”

She continued, “As a kid whose best friend was TV, getting to play make believe with comedy legends on the recreation of a set I watched as a little girl felt like stepping through the looking glass in the best possible way. Walking through those iconic halls. Sitting at the cafeteria tables with the chairs from the original. Feeling the electricity from the live studio audience on a tape night while doing a courtroom scene surrounded by a brilliant, powerhouse group of actors, phenomenally gifted writers and the best crew in the biz. It all felt exceptionally dream-like.”

The actress recalled that the creator of the original Night Court, Reinhold Weege, once said that “the courtroom doors were key to the show’s engine as they ushered in endless stories,” adding, “I like to think that’s how Night Court carries on. Just as it did in the 30 years between the first incarnation ending and us beginning.”

Rauch concluded her lengthy message by writing, “The evergreen revolving door of oddballs and cynics populating that Manhattan arraignment court in the wee hours of the night and at the center of it all a workplace family that will forever be…until next time.”

Alongside her emotional message, Rauch shared a video montage of behind-the-scenes pics of herself and the Night Court cast and crew.

Several celebs expressed sadness over the revival’s cancellation in the post’s comments. “You are a gem and a force. Kind and determined. We love you, and will miss the show immensely,” wrote Rauch’s former The Big Bang Theory costar Kunal Nayyar, who guest starred in a Season 2 episode of Night Court last year.

Young Sheldon‘s Raegan Revord, who also had a guest star stint on Night Court, commented, “So glad I got to be a teeny tiny part of the show and got to experience your amazing set with your amazing cast and crew! Love you so much!”

Night Court — a revival of the original 1984 series — was canceled last month, just days after the show’s Season 3 finale. The season ended on a cliffhanger, with Abby Stone’s (Rauch) husband, played by The Big Bang Theory‘s Simon Helberg, kissing her in front of Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) and her boyfriend, Jake (Ryan Hansen), who was about to propose.

The episode concluded with a “To Be Continued…” title card, leaving fans to wonder what would have happened next.

    1Andy Taylor

ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, Ron Howard, Andy Griffith, 1960-1968

    Everett Collection

You picked none other than the calm and loving Andy Taylor from The Andy Griffith Show as your top pick, with 1338 votes.

Andy Taylor, played by Andy Griffith, was the wise and warmhearted sheriff of the quiet town of Mayberry. He kept the peace with a calm demeanor, a gentle sense of humor and an unwavering devotion to his son, Opie.

    2Charles Ingalls

Charles Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie was our runner-up, with 873 votes.

Charles Ingalls, the hardworking and compassionate patriarch of the Ingalls family played by Michael Landon, faced the trials of frontier life with steady resolve, deep faith and an unshakable love for his wife and daughters.

    3Ward Cleaver

LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, Jerry Mathers, Hugh Beaumont, 1957-1963, 1958 episode

    Everett Collection

The second runner-up was Ward Cleaver, the steady and soft-spoken father on Leave It to Beaver, who served as a moral compass for his family. The character, played by Hugh Beaumont, offered thoughtful guidance and gentle discipline as he navigated the ups and downs of raising two young boys in 1950s suburbia.

    Last Place: Darrin Stevens

BEWITCHED, Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick Sargent, Erin Murphy, David Lawrence, 1964-1972.

    Everett Collection

Now, let’s find out who you put at the very bottom of our list. Darrin Stephens from Bewitched came in last, with only 11 votes (!). Perhaps it was because he was always flustered and tried to keep magic out of his normal suburban life instead of embracing his wife and daughter’s special gifts. It could also be because the role was played by two different actors over the course of the series, causing a bit of confusion.
