Million-Dollar Heartbreak! “Wheel of Fortune” Contestant & Home Viewers Stumped by Impossible Puzzle

Player Loses Out On $1M Over This Tough ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Puzzle

A recent episode of Wheel of Fortune left fans stunned when a contestant froze during a high-stakes Bonus Round — with a potential $1 million payday on the table.

The May 13 episode featured a special “Bragging Rights” theme, where all three contestants weren’t strangers, but coworkers from the same pediatric medical office. Sam Oh from Cypress, Texas, went head-to-head with Peter Jung and Daniel Park, both from Houston. With longtime ties and workplace bragging rights at stake, the competition quickly turned personal — and hilarious.

Host Ryan Seacrest kicked off the night with a joke after learning Jung had once been Park’s pediatrician. “Still waiting for him to grow,” Jung quipped. Seacrest grinned and replied, “People say the same about me — better watch it!”

As a side bet, the trio agreed the losers would have to wear homemade “Wheel of Misfortune” T-shirts designed by Jung’s wife. Oh, confident from the jump, declared he wouldn’t be wearing one — and backed it up.

Oh gained momentum early, scoring $2,000 on the second toss-up puzzle and solving “Giving a Little Pep Talk” during the Jackpot Round, netting him an extra $2,000 and a vacation to Costa Rica. He followed up with a correct answer to “Surround Sound System,” boosting his total to $18,600.

Jung, however, wasn’t far behind. He snagged the prized $1 million wedge and answered “Macadamia Nut Cookies” in the prize puzzle round, winning a Maui vacation and racking up $14,000. Though Park got a late start, he solved the final puzzle, “This Girl Is On Fire,” and ended with $1,700.

By the end of regular gameplay, Oh led with $28,050, followed by Jung’s $16,450. That put Oh in the hot seat for the Bonus Round — with the coveted million-dollar envelope in play.

Oh’s category was “Phrase.” With his teammates cheering him on — and wearing their “loser” shirts — Oh stood before the puzzle board and prepared for a potentially life-changing moment.

But the suspense quickly turned to confusion.

After getting the standard letters “R, S, T, L, N, E,” Oh hesitated. When prompted by Seacrest to pick three consonants and one vowel, Oh managed “C” before freezing. With time ticking, Seacrest gently urged him: “Take a guess.” Oh eventually added “G, M, and O,” forming the puzzle “O_T O_ _ _ C.” He guessed “Out of,” but couldn’t find the final word — “Out of Whack.”

Inside the envelope? A hefty $40,000 prize — gone. The $1 million card? It was sitting on the “M” in “America.”

The loss marked Wheel’s twelfth consecutive Bonus Round miss, and fans didn’t hold back.

“Sam took WAY too long to pick his letters,” one Reddit user wrote. “I get that he was trying to be strategic, but it gave him an unfair advantage.”

Another joined in: “I’m not surprised he missed it. The pressure from that million-dollar hype was intense.”

A YouTube commenter added, “Twelve straight Bonus Round losses? That’s some serious misfortune.”

Post-show, Oh and his teammates spoke with Maggie Sajak backstage, showing off their custom shirts. One even had a wedge labeled “Lose a Job.” Jung, the boss, joked he was safe — but with Oh winning the most money, they teased that he might be the one in trouble now.

While the million slipped through his fingers, Sam Oh still walked away the night’s biggest winner — just not the biggest winner in Wheel history.

‘Live’ Kelly Ripa really looks skeletol as she turned to her hubby’s super strict and fans feels worry

Kelly Ripa says Mark Consuelos’ diet is ‘way too disciplined’ — but it left her ‘super fit’ when she tried it

Kelly Ripa says her husband, Mark Consuelos, is pretty tight.

Too tight — but, then, so was her Oscars gown.

“So right before the Academy Awards, I was having trouble getting my dress zipped up the side. It was a side-zip dress, and I kept getting zipped into the dress,” Ripa, 54, confessed on a recent episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark.”

Needing results fast, she turned to her hubby’s super strict, super high protein diet for three days and — lo and behold — the zipper slid like a kid on a waterslide.

“I don’t love it, but I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up, no side skin,” she told Consuelos, also 54.

“And I looked super fit. Super, super fit. So thank you for that.”

That being said, she made it pretty clear his regimen wasn’t her everyday jam.

“It’s the only time I’ve listened to Mark about my diet because I typically don’t like to do what you’re doing,” she said.

“I just find, you’re like, way too disciplined. I can’t live that way. But for 72 hours, I can live like Mark Consuelos so I lived like Mark Consuelos for 72 hours.”

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos in an interview.
“I don’t love it, but I ate exactly how you told me to eat, and that dress zipped right up, no side skin,” she said. ABC
So, what did this miracle diet entail?

According to Ripa, it was plenty of yogurt, veggies and steak — much to the talk show host’s dismay, as she admitted that she’s “not big on animal protein.”

Consuelos said the diet is “the craze now,” possibly alluding to the popularity of the carnivore diet, which is being touted as a game changer for the gut by wellness influencers and celebs like Jenny McCarthy.

However, it’s worth noting that experts have expressed concerns about the potential health risks of this trendy meal plan, citing an increased risk of kidney stones, LDL cholesterol, heart disease, colon cancer, digestive issues and nutritional deficiencies as potential side effects.

“It’s the only time I’ve listened to Mark about my diet because I typically don’t like to do what you’re doing,” she said. 2003 RAMEY PHOTO 310-828-3445/L
“There are significant long-term risks with following the carnivore diet,” Dr. Joseph Antoun, CEO of the longevity company L-Nutra, previously told The Post, arguing for a “well-balanced, plant-forward approach” that is “rich in complex carbs, plant-based/fish-based proteins and healthy fats from nuts and seeds” instead.

Consuelos himself cautioned that it’s crucial to increase your fiber intake when following a high-protein diet, especially if you’re doing it as a lifestyle choice and not a 72-hour stint.

“It’s really, really important. ‘Recommended 25 grams of fiber per day for women, 38 grams for men.’ So it’s crucial for ‘maintaining a healthy gut microbiome and may lower the rates of chronic disease such as diabetes,” he said.

Of course, it helps to have a live-in expert, as it sounds like Ripa didn’t even know what she was eating most of the time.

“You were there, you were managing my diet,” she told her husband on the episode.

“I’m like, ‘I don’t know, I ate whatever you told me to eat.’ Literally, if he was like, ‘Eat this,’ I ate it. And it was great for the 72 hours I had to suffer through it. But they’re talking about daily life every day, if you’re having a high protein diet…”

“…Make sure you take your fiber,” he said.

The Price Is Right host Drew Carey reveals BIG CHANGE to longtime game BUT some fans DISAGREE

The Price Is Right host Drew Carey reveals change to longtime game as some fans disagree

On The Price Right, games come and go, while other popular games might stick around with occasional changes.

During a recent episode of the popular game show, host Drew Carey mentioned how production had changed up a longtime pricing game.

He had a contestant on stage to play the game Back to ’75, which features various items from years ago.

Contestants must determine the price of the three items from the show back in 1975.

The contestant has $50 on the gameboard, which resembles a vintage TV screen. After guessing an item’s price, each dollar they are off by gets deducted from the $50 they have on the board.

In the latest contestant’s situation, she could win $25,000 if she didn’t lose all $50 on the board after estimating the prices of the three items.

Drew spoke about changes to a popular TPIR game

While presenting the game in 2025, host Drew Carey brought up a noticeable update.

“If you notice, new year, we changed the background to Back to ’75,” he told everyone.

He explained that in 1975, they “redesigned the look of the show” and made changes like extending it to an hour long and bringing in the Big Wheel for the Showcase round.

“Same TV, though,” Drew joked while discussing the game’s recent update.

The host said the game was originally Back to ’72 for the 50th anniversary of the show. It stuck around due to its popularity and got renamed Back to ’75.

During the modern-day game, George Gray read the original copy for each of the three items from back in 1975, and then the contestant could turn the dial to “dial in the price” they thought that item cost in 1975.

George revealed that the first of three items was a Schick air-freshening machine that periodically sprayed a fresh scent. She estimated the price to be $16, but she was only four dollars off since it was $20.

Next up was a Litronix 2230 calculator with big red buttons. George said it was “unconditionally guaranteed to the original owner for one full year from date of receipt.”

Drew was amused by that line and laughed at George after he finished. George reminded him it was the original copy for the 1975 item. The contestant dialed in a price of $34 and was under by just six dollars.

Lastly, there was a Tele-Games version of the classic game Pong from Sears. When Drew saw that item, he got excited and raised one fist to celebrate the prize.

“Hey man, your mom gets your video games from Sears,” Drew joked as the contestant consulted with the audience.

The contestant estimated it cost $62, but the actual price was $100. However, with $40 left on the game’s dial, she had two dollars left after all three items. She was ecstatic as she’d won $25,000 for her great guesses.

Some fans questioned TPIR’s changes to the game, and others celebrated ‘vintage’ aspects

In the YouTube comments, several fans called out the change, seeming to criticize aspects of the update.

One commenter indicated that The Price Is Right needed to wait slightly longer in 2025 to make the change.

“Too soon to change that backdrop of the old turntable. They should have waited until the 54th season to do that. The set change happened in August 1975 when they were still doing all new shows for the summer,” a fan wrote.
screenshot of fans comments about the price is right game changePic credit: @thepriceisright/YouTube
Another asked if they would “change the name of this game every year, a la Match Game?”

“I think the game should be called ‘The Price WAS Right’, that way they can have items from different years the show has been on that need to be guessed on,” they commented.

Another individual mentioned that the show had a pricing game called The Price Was Right, which replaced the Showcase Showdown during the “disastrous 1994 New Price Is Right.”

Some fans praised seeing this game in the highlight clip and reminisced about various aspects of it.

One fan said they love “the vintage prize music that plays as George reads the original copy.”

“I love the classic music cues!!! Please use them more often. Feels like the Price is Right we all know and love,” a commenter said.
screenshot shows some fans comments about the price is right game back to 75Pic credit: @thepriceisright/YouTube
A commenter said, “Love how enthusiastic Drew was with the Pong system. Must’ve played it when he was a kid.”

“These are the same exact prize copies that were first read out by the late great Johnny Olson,” another fan commented.

The Back to ’72 game debuted in September 2022, returned for Season 51 as Back to ’73, and continues to be updated yearly. Given its unique format, including vintage items and intriguing copy, it should stay as the show continues.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Allegedly Can’t Agree on Surrogacy, Source Says

Kingston Rossdale, Gwen Stefani, Apollo Rossdale, Blake Shelton, and Zuma Rossdale posing together at the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton started dating in 2015, and The Voice fans were elated that their favorite judges were romantically linked. The No Doubt superstar and the country singer tied the knot in 2021. Since then, Shelton has become very close to Stefani’s three kids, whom she shares with Gavin Rossdale. Now, a source alleges that Stefani and Shelton are trying to have another child via surrogate, but the process isn’t easy.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are allegedly ‘struggling’ to secure a surrogate to expand their family

Gwen Stefani has three kids with Gavin Rossdale —  Kingston, 18, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10. She adores being a mother and loves that her kids get to experience Oklahoma, thanks to Blake Shelton’s ranch. Stefani and Shelton don’t have any kids of their own, but rumors persisted for years that they were considering it. In April 2024, a source alleged that Stefani and Shelton were “struggling” to find the perfect surrogate.

“It must be a complicated situation,” the source told Life & Style. “Maybe something just didn’t feel right for Gwen, or for Blake, or for both of them. In one instance, friends say Gwen wanted to use a surrogate in California and Blake wanted someone far removed from Hollywood. In another case, the surrogate backed out because of the pressure. When it doesn’t work out, it’s wrenching for Gwen and Blake.”

The source added that Stefani and Shelton previously secured surrogates, but “it’s been a struggle” to retain them. However, the process has allegedly brought the couple closer together. “Blake just wants Gwen to be happy, and she wants the same for him,” the source added. “She knows he desperately wants to be a dad.”

The couple allegedly considered surrogacy in 2018

This isn’t the first time that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton fans have heard about the couple’s alleged surrogacy plans. An insider told Us Weekly in 2018 that the couple was “determined” to have a biological child together.

“They are in the final stages of choosing the woman who will carry their baby,” the source explained. “It’s extremely important to Gwen that she give Blake a biological child, and Blake is so excited. … He wants his own child too.”

The source added that Stefani is “in awe” of how Shelton acts around her boys, which makes her even more confident that he’d be a great dad to their potential child.

However, four years later, another source alleged that Shelton and Stefani gave up on the dream of having a baby together. “They’ve given up on their dream of having a baby,” the source told OK! Magazine, adding that Stefani’s three kids “are more than enough for them.”

Blake Shelton has talked about his feelings toward becoming a stepfather to Gwen Stefani’s kids

Blake Shelton took on the role of stepdad for Gwen Stefani’s three kids. He adores Stefani’s kids and loves that he can show them another way of life in Oklahoma. However, he admitted while on Today that stepparenting isn’t easy.

“I’ve had stepparents,” Shelton said. “I think it’s, in some ways, harder, more difficult. I try to be careful about when to step back and be smart about when to step back and just talk, but no matter what, I’m always there if I’m needed.”

In December 2022, he reflected on learning that he has a more profound responsibility now that he has kids in his life. “They’ve taught me something about myself that I never knew: I’m more than just a country singer or a goofy guy,” he told People. “I’m someone they actually lean on, and that’s not a responsibility that I ever had and not something that I ever considered even being into.”

Adam Levine’s “Voice” Future in Jeopardy! Reports Claim the Superstar Coach is on the Brink of Being DROPPED.

Adam Levine has been warned he could be DROPPED from The Voice as his return sparks tension with NBC employees over his previous ‘abrasive’ behavior

Adam Levine has been issued with a stark warning about his behavior ahead of his return to The Voice, according to sources, who claim that NBC staffers fear the singer will be as ‘cocky’ and ‘arrogant’ as he was during his previous turn in the famous red chair.

The Maroon 5 frontman, 45, who stepped down in 2019 after 16 consecutive seasons, was the second-longest serving coach behind Blake Shelton, who quit the show last year.

He will reprise his role as a coach for season 27 next year, alongside John Legend, Michael Bublé and newcomer Kelsea Ballerini.

But news of his return sparked tensions behind-the-scenes, with employees concerned he will come back with the same ‘entitled’ attitude he exhibited before.

‘Not everyone is happy with Adam coming back to the show,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

‘There have been many changes behind-the-scenes, but there are a lot of people still there from Adam’s time before and don’t like that he will be returning, because towards the end of his last run, he was cocky, arrogant and seemed entitled.

‘People get second chances, and maybe Adam will change. But if he remains the abrasive Adam from the past, then they will get rid of him again.’

The source explained that producers were also keen to bring Levine back into the fold in the hopes that they could potentially reunite him with Shelton in the future.

‘The Voice would love to get Blake Shelton back someday,’ the insider dished. ‘The dynamic that Adam and Blake had was TV gold, and the show would love to have that back again in the future.’

They continued: ‘Having Adam back shows Blake that if he ever wanted to return, they would do it to his liking and pair him with Adam again.’

Producers are hoping Levine’s return will deliver a welcome boost of nostalgia following recent changes to the coaching line-up.

‘Adam provides some nostalgia and he knows how it works,’ the insider said. ‘It could lead to other opportunities with NBC Universal and would also keep him away from joining rival network shows like American Idol. It is being seen as a safe and defensive move to bring him back.’

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Levine and NBC for comment.

Levine was a member of the original quartet of artists on the NBC show alongside Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green.

He won the show’s inaugural season in 2011 with Javier Colon, then again with Tessanne Chin in season five, and for the third and final time with Jordan Smith in season nine.

Back in 2019, Levine opened up about his decision to leave The Voice after nearly a decade, revealing he wanted a break from the heavy workload.

‘I really do miss it,’ he told The Ellen DeGeneres Show. ‘I love the people that I met and worked with and obviously we all know how I feel about Blake [Shelton].’

The father-of-three continued: ‘I do miss it, but I also don’t miss how much I had to work. I was just constantly working for so many years. I’m very lucky, very fortunate and blessed and all that to be able to stop at this moment to spend time with my new young family.

‘Now I’m just like a stay-at-home, where I stay home and do very little.’

At the time, he reportedly walked away from a $30 million paycheck to stay.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that his contract was for two additional seasons for around $30 million, as he had made around $14 million for his last season.

In a post shared to Instagram he said his time on the show was ‘a life shaping experience that will be close to [his] heart forever.’

‘About eight years ago, Mark Burnett convinced us to sign up for this show where you sit in a big red chair with your back turned away from the singers on the stage,’ he wrote.

‘First thank you must go to Mark. We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going. After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself “There’s some magic here. Something is definitely happening.”’

The three-time Grammy winner concluded: ‘Thank you NBC for signing me up. I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life.

‘Thank you to every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with. That is a shared experience that is singularly ours. We have that for life. Thank you to everyone who supported this long strange and amazing left turn into a place I never thought I’d go.’

Since leaving the show, Levine – who is married to model Behati Prinsloo – found himself embroiled in a sexting scandal when a series of inappropriate messages he had allegedly sent to other women came to light in 2022.

This fall, Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani will serve as the coaches for season 26.

Ballerini will return three years after making her official coaching debut in 2021 while filling in for Kelly Clarkson on season 27.

The pair — who loving call each other “Tater” and “Sugar Tot” — look as comfy as ever next to each other. McEntire is all dolled up for filming the show, with complete hair and makeup. She has one hand around Linn’s shoulders, while the other holds onto his arm.

The actor is in a much more casual ensemble, wearing taupe pants, a T-shirt and a rugged brown leather jacket. He topped off the look with a Young Sheldon hat — a subtle nod to the way to the couple started their romance.

Linn and McEntire initially met in 1991. Although they did not date, they remained friends over the years. It wasn’t until they reunited on the set of the Big Bang Theory spinoff that the pair became good friends — that friendship blossomed into a romance in 2020.

Was Reba McEntire Wearing an Engagement Ring on ‘The Voice’?

The Voice was back on Monday night for the first round of live tapings, and coach Reba McEntire arrived on set with something new and sparkly on her finger.

That’s right: McEntire was rocking a sparkly diamond ring on her left ring finger, leading fans to wonder if she and her longtime boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, have gotten engaged.

McEntire and Linn have been dating since 2020.
Linn has never been married, while McEntire has been married twice before. McEntire was previously married to producer and manager Narvel Blackstock for 26 years, and they divorced in 2015.
The singer recently said that whether or not she and Linn get married is “up to him totally,” and that she’s enjoying traveling and spending time together.

It seems like these two are on the brink of an engagement — but McEntire said they’re not there quite yet. When asked about her eye-catching new accessory on the set of The Voice, the star told ET that she “just found it,” and she figured she would “put something over here, just let everybody talk about it.”

In the same conversation, McEntire reviewed her experience with The Voice thus far and gushed over the talent on her team going into the live voting episodes. She also addressed the departure of her contestant Tom Nitti, who left the show for “personal reasons” in late November.

“We’ve been emailing back and forth, and all of our hearts went out to him ’cause he couldn’t finish the competition,” McEntire says. “He is so strong. So good. So he’s gonna be watching and cheering all of us on, but our hearts are with him.”

Reba, 68, fought back tears during blind auditions on this week’s episode of The Voice after hearing a heartfelt story from a contestant.

The Queen of Country slammed her buzzer while listening to 16-year-old William Alexander’s performance of the song Ceilings.

After he finished his audition, the Staten Island native revealed that he chose the track in honor of his grandfather who died last year.

“Singing that song, I was actually singing it for my grandfather who passed away last year.

“He always said that he believed in me and it’s just crazy being here now,” William explained, tearing up while on stage.

Reba then spoke up, asking the teen if he was really “thinking of his grandfather” during his song.

“Cause when I’m singing a song and I’m thinking about my mama my voice gets real high like that,” she joked, imitating a crying whimpering sound.

“Then I start gasping and then I can’t sing anymore. How did you do that?” she asked.

William replied, “I just pictured him hearing this and seeing me do this. It just made me feel so proud to be here.”

“Wonderful, wonderful,” Reba gushed, adding, “You’re going to have somebody with you all the time.”

The country singer started to break down in tears as she confessed, “Now I’m getting choked up and I’m going to have to start talking very high.

“But I thought you did a great job. Your voice is a beautiful gift and I’d love to have you on my team,” she shared.

Reba then grabbed a tissue and wiped the tears out of her eyes.

    ROOTING FOR REBA!

Over the last several weeks, fans have predicted that Reba will win Season 25 of The Voice.

Ahead of the season premiere last month, NBC shared behind-the-scenes photos of The Voice coaches on Instagram.

In the collection, Reba posed with singer John Legend, 45; rapper Chance the Rapper, 30; and country singing duo Dan Smyers, 36, and Shay Mooney, 31.
The country singer seemed to be mocking her co-stars as she spoke to them on a bullhorn.

In one of the photos in the Instagram carousel, newcomers Dan & Shay smiled widely as they sat in the red chairs.

In 2023, they joined the judge’s panel for Season 25.

Although this is the first time a pair will sit on the panel, they served as Battle Advisors on Blake Shelton’s team in 2020.

In the comments section, viewers praised Reba while sharing their concerns about the first-timers.

“Not keen on this Dan and Shay situation. Why? Who are they really?” a critic trolled.

“Yes! #TeamReba all the way!” one fan cheered.

“I’m not sure about this Dan and Shay thing,” another critic added.

“Outside of Reba, the rest is kind of meh. She’s the real deal!” another fan gushed.

“Not liking the new judges sorry,” a fourth person wrote.

“Go #TeamReba! You should have broken up that row of males and put Reba in the middle! She looks outnumbered! However, she’s pretty feisty! So I’m not worried!” a commentator chimed.

The new season of The Voice began February 26 on NBC and streams on Peacock.

Here’s your one chance, Reba McEntire — don’t let Blake Shelton down!

In a new interview with Extra, Shelton voiced his feelings about the country legend joining The Voice for season 24 alongside returning coaches John Legend, Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani following the “God’s Country” singer’s exit from the competition series.

“Well there’s a couple of things about Reba that makes her so special,” Shelton, 46, told the outlet. “First of all, she’s just so authentic. I don’t know anybody country, or on the planet, [who is more authentic than] Reba, and that’s just the truth, but the other thing is her talent.”

He added that McEntire, 68, “was born with this raw, natural talent that’s just unbelievable.”

“People will finally maybe start to realize what an incredible vocalist she is,” predicted Shelton. “I shouldn’t say that; millions of us already know that. But so many more people are going to realize what an incredible vocalist she is because she’s going to, as a coach on this show, perform at times, you know, and it’s just, it’s shocking what an incredible singer she is.”

McEntire is no stranger to The Voice — she’s previously appeared on the show as an advisor to the coaches and is currently acting as this season’s mega mentor.

Speaking to PEOPLE on set of the show earlier this week, she opened up about preparing to become a coach.

“The country lane — I’m taking over for Blake so I’m gonna represent country music. [He’s got] big boots. I don’t know what size those boots are, but they’re big, so I’m gonna really work hard to make him proud,” said McEntire of Shelton, who is wrapping up his time as a coach on the show after 23 seasons.

The “Fancy” performer’s also got fierce competition in Shelton’s wife Stefani, who’s returning as a coach for the seventh time. “I do understand that I need to go razzle-dazzle with Gwen being on there,” says McEntire. “Gwen’s always got the nicest outfits, so I really need to step up my game on that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, she spoke about the other coaches that’ll sit beside her on the panel. “John and Niall [are] all really funny and clever, and always have so many smart things to say, so I’ve got my work cut out for me,” says McEntire.

She continued, “I’m most excited about basically getting started, and I’m sure that I’ll have lots of help, lots of advice, lots of people coming around saying, ‘You can do this. You can do that.’ And I’m not afraid at all. I think it’ll be a very fun adventure.”

Game Changer for “Shifting Gears” Season 2? EP Hints at a Vital New Role That Will Reshape the Show’s Dynamics!

Shifting Gears season 2 might introduce one character that hasn’t been seen yet but is still important, reveals executive producer Michelle Nader. The biggest idea tying the characters of Shifting Gears together is family, with the most obvious connection being Matt (Tim Allen) taking his daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings), and her children into his home. So far, the biggest character with familial connections to appear has been Jimmy (Lucas Neff), yubi who is still trying to win back his ex-wife’s affections despite her decision to divorce him in the season finale.

Speaking with TVLine, however, Nader confirmed plans for Shifting Gears season 2 to introduce Sam, Matt’s son and Riley’s brother, who’s been mentioned throughout the sitcom. The executive producer explained what role he would have in the series, including what his interactions with his family and those around him would be like. Check out what Nader had to say about Sam’s possible introduction below:

We hope to introduce Sam in Season 2. We think he will be another fun casting opportunity and a great character for everyone to complain to!

What Sam’s Arrival Would Mean For Shifting Gears Season 2

Another Family Member Adding To The Comedy

Although Shifting Gears season 2 hasn’t been confirmed as of writing, the show has already laid the groundwork for an interesting follow-up. This includes Riley’s decision not only to divorce Jimmy, but also try to start a relationship with Gabriel (Seann William Scott), who wants to wait for the right time. Meanwhile, Matt discovers his business rival, Eve (Jenna Elfman), actually has feelings for him, kissing him in the season finale. With charged emotions already abuzz, Sam’s introduction could shake everything up even more.

Not much is known about Sam outside of the several times he’s been mentioned throughout the show, meaning he can be a unique voice among the series’ established characters. Even though Shifting Gears‘ reception has been mixed, the show’s popularity emphasizes how a new face can continue its trend of offering new elements that shake up established ideas. This can especially be the case for season 2, since new relationships and conflicts have already been established. Sam’s involvement can be the perfect way of bolstering these ideas with a fresh perspective.

It’s A Sensible Path For The Series To Take

What Sam’s exact role in the sitcom would be remains unknown, but his introduction can help expand the Parker family with new history and funny situations between him and Riley. Sibling interactions can help make Shifting Gears season 2 stand out, as their dynamic is bound to be different from the one she has with every other character in the show. Since the groundwork has already been laid for Sam to show up, it would be fitting for him to arrive as so many new life changes are happening for his father and sister.
