Shifting Gears Finale’s Strangest Callback Hints At A Major Change In Season 2

Riley (Kat Dennings) and Gabriel/Gabe (Seann William Scott) sitting together on a couch in Shifting Gears season 1, episode 10.

Warning: SPOILERS for Shifting Gears episode 10.The pilot season of Shifting Gears has come to an end, but one moment in the finale implies the sitcom may be changing its trajectory for the better. The ABC sitcom follows Tim Allen as Matt Parker, widower and owner of an auto restoration shop run by the affable Gabriel/Gabe (Seann William Scott), witty Stitch (Daryl “Chill” Mitchell), and underdeveloped but present Frankie (Cynthia Quiles). The inciting incident of the comedy comes when Matt’s daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings), suddenly moves home with her children, Carter (Maxwell Simkins) and Georgia (Barrett Margolis), to escape a failing marriage.

Though the premise wasn’t anything groundbreaking, Shifting Gears garnered impressive viewership off the bat, due in no small part to Allen’s leading role. After 10 episodes, Shifting Gears season 1 wrapped up with a soft conclusion and many purposefully unresolved storylines. While Shifting Gears season 2 has still yet to be officially confirmed by ABC, it’s difficult to imagine that the network won’t renew the comedy given the substantial ratings it’s pulled in since January. The ending of Shifting Gears season 1 left much up in the air, but one quick scene could have subtle implications for the sitcom’s future.

Seann William Scott’s “Dude, Where’s My Car?” Reference In Shifting Gears Episode 10 Explained

    A Single But Significant Line

Gabriel (Seann William Scott) and Riley (Kat Dennings) in Shifting Gears

While Tim Allen may have been the headliner, one character has been a scene-stealer in Shifting Gears since the pilot: Gabe. From his endearing naivety to reliable comic relief, Gabe is undeniably one of Shifting Gears’ best side characters thanks to the work of Seann William Scott. The Shifting Gears season finale even references one of Scott’s most iconic roles when Riley walks into the auto shop, looks at Gabe, and asks: “Dude, where’s my car?” Scott starred in a film of the same name alongside Ashton Kutcher, and it remains one of the most memorable titles in Scott’s filmography.

The absurd mix of science fiction and comedy earned Dude, Where’s My Car? poor critical reception, but the film garnered a cult following that persists decades after its initial release.

Shifting Gears made many not-so-subtle callbacks to Allen’s past roles throughout the pilot season, even setting up a Tim Allen shared universe in Shifting Gears set designs and guest stars. However, Riley’s on-the-nose reference to one of Scott’s biggest roles is a blissful departure from Shifting Gears’ Tim Allen tunnel vision. The callback didn’t require any extra meandering to draw attention to it, just a line from Riley and a quick reaction shot from Gabe. The scene then continued without delay, but the quick wink to Scott could indicate a new and necessary direction for Shifting Gears season 2.

Shifting Gears Season 1 Finale’s Non-Tim Allen Reference Hints At Its Season 2 Story Approach

The Sitcom Is Broadening Its Scope

While ABC marketing Shifting Gears as a Tim Allen sitcom was undeniably the most logical move, the comedy needs to expand its horizons if it wants long-term success. There are many talented actors in the Shifting Gears cast of characters, and the Dude, Where’s My Car? reference indicates the sitcom realizes this as well. The plot can’t stray too far from the Parker family, but it doesn’t have to in order to celebrate its ensemble. In fact, exploring individual characters would inevitably lead back to Matt, given he’s connected to everyone as a father, grandfather, boss, or neighbor.

    Jenna Elfman
    Eve

Seann William Scott is only one member of the Shifting Gears cast with iconic past roles that can be playfully worked into the script. Kat Dennings is recognizable to many as Max from 2 Broke Girls, Daryl Mitchell and Jenna Elfman (Eve) both worked on Fear the Walking Dead, and even Maxwell Simkins is widely remembered as Zane from Bizaardvark. While Jenna Elfman’s character in Shifting Gears hasn’t been around long enough to necessarily warrant a callback, it’s reassuring to know the sitcom has at least opened the door to acknowledging its full cast.

Why Shifting Gears Expanding Its Narrative Beyond Tim Allen Is Great

The Ensemble Cast Could Be The Key To Longevity

Matt (Tim Allen), Carter (Maxwell Simkins), Georgia (Barrett Margolis), and Riley (Kat Dennings) around the kitchen in Shifting Gears.

Beyond callbacks and inside jokes, the entire Shifting Gears cast deserves more screen time in general. Matt’s character in Shifting Gears doesn’t have to be sidelined, but letting others shine will help the sitcom in the long run. There are only so many iterations of Riley and Matt clashing heads that Shifting Gears can air before it becomes exhausting. Frankie, Stitch, and Gabe could get into a fight, leading to an episode where the auto shop can’t function. Georgia and Carter could have a sibling squabble, leaving Matt and Riley to defuse the situation. Inevitably, some much-needed originality would ensue.

    Tim Allen in Shifting Gears

Admittedly, the sitcom has already vastly improved from the early reviews of Shifting Gears that seemed to spell doom for Tim Allen’s return to network television. Certain episodes of Shifting Gears season 1 did focus on other characters— albeit only partially— and were irrefutably better because of it. Of course, there’s still room to improve and make Shifting Gears the fun family comedy it has the potential to be. Involving its diverse cast more, even with something as small as a one-liner reference, is the first step to Shifting Gears embracing its ensemble and setting season 2 up for success.

Shifting Gears’ Biggest Tim Allen Plot Twist Is Bad News For Its True Main Couple

Tim Allen's Matt looks dejected in the auto shop from Shifting Gears season 1

Although Shifting Gears season 1 ended with Tim Allen’s Matt sharing a kiss with his daughter Riley’s boss Eve, this is bad news for the show’s true main couple. Shifting Gears season 1 received terrible reviews, but the sitcom still managed to secure a renewal thanks to its ratings. The Tim Allen vehicle stars Allen as Matt, the owner of an auto shop, and Kat Dennings as his daughter Riley.

While season 1 focused on Riley and her children getting used to living with her father, Shifting Gears season 2 can now center on the love lives of both Matt and his daughter. Throughout season 1, Seann William Scott’s sweet, shy mechanic Gabriel struggled to tell Riley that he had feelings for her, while Matt shared an absurdly contentious relationship with Riley’s boss, Jenna Elfman’s Eve. Even though Eve runs a dance studio across the road, she still manages to repeatedly cross paths with Matt as they get on each other’s final nerve.

Shifting Gears Season 1 Ends With Matt & Eve’s Unexpected Kiss

Riley’s Boss and Her Father Hooked Up In Season 1 Episode 10 “Kiss”

These two plots come to a head in episode 10, “Kiss,” wherein Riley’s ex, Jimmy, returns to ask her and their kids to move back in with him. Riley is stunned and unsure what to do, prompting her to seek advice from Matt. For once, Matt isn’t eager to tell her what to do next, and she ends up asking Gabriel and Stitch. Gabriel can’t bring himself to tell her he likes her, but he does say she deserves better than Jimmy.

To everyone’s shock, not least Matt’s, Eve revealed she was secretly attracted to Tim Allen’s character and abruptly kissed him at the end of the party.

When Riley opts to stay, Eve celebrates by throwing her a big party. Gabriel takes a drunk Riley home and rejects her advances, informing her that he wants to be with her romantically and needs to tell her that when she’s sober. This plot twist makes Shifting Gears season 2’s return a compelling prospect, but it wasn’t the only romance afoot at the party. To everyone’s shock, not least Matt’s, Eve revealed she was secretly attracted to Tim Allen’s character and abruptly kissed him at the end of the party.

Why Matt & Eve’s Shockingly Quick Romance Is Bad For Riley & Gabriel’s Budding Romance

Riley and Gabriel’s Storyline May Not Take Precedence Over Tim Allen’s Character

Eve and Matt’s romance seems to have come out of nowhere, considering the two characters have shared few interactions to date and all of them have been defined by seemingly shared opprobrium. Admittedly, the “Enemies to Lovers” plot is so common that the phenomenon has an entire TvTropes page dedicated to it. However, this sitcom convention requires more setup and finesses than Matt and Eve’s story received.

Riley (Kat Dennings) and Gabriel/Gabe (Seann William Scott) sitting together on a couch in Shifting Gears season 1, episode 10.

Unfortunately, this might be bad news for the true heroes of Shifting Gears season 2. It is highly unlikely that the sitcom will try to focus on two big love stories at the same time, particularly when both involve the show’s main characters. As such, Gabriel and Riley’s romance is likely to take a backseat in season 2.

Can Matt & Eve’s Romance Last In Shifting Gears?

Eve and Matt’s Romance Seems Doomed To Inevitable Failure

Riley smiling in Shifting Gears season 1, episode 9

In episode 7, “Picnic,” an issue as pointless as a new picnic table across the road from Matt’s auto shop escalated into an all-out war between him and Eve. Only a few episodes later, the pair were making out and Eve even openly admitted that she had started fights to get Matt’s attention. One of the biggest unanswered questions left by Shifting Gears season 1’s ending is how long this unholy union can last, since the duo’s bickering never seemed to be fueled by a secret attraction before.

Tim Allen as Matt in Shifting Gears.

Matt and Eve’s romance seems doomed in Shifting Gears season 2, primarily because their mutual attraction wasn’t hinted at or heavily foreshadowed earlier in the series. As such, the sitcom must take care not to forget about Gabriel and Riley’s sweeter slow-burn romance as the show focuses on Matt and Eve’s more combustible relationship in Shifting Gears season 2.

Just a day after a landmark deal was announced, it seems some changes have already been made to Jeopardy!

One viewer took to Reddit as they noticed that the sign behind the studio audience was subtly altered.

The thread on the fan forum platform was titled: “Did anybody notice the Jeopardy sign change from Friday’s game?”

One viewer replied: “Looks like the hanging light fixtures are gone as well. Too bad – they subtly echoed the set and I thought they looked really cool, especially in person.”

As another noted: “I noticed that for Masters the Jeopardy sign was the same as the 2nd photo, and was wondering if/when we’ll see it appear in Syndication. Guess I’ve got the answer now!”

This comes after it was announced that both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune will be available to stream the day after they air on TV.

As part of a huge new deal, Sony Pictures Television will allow Hulu and Peacock to show the hit game shows on their services from the fall.

The streaming deal is separate to the syndication row Sony is currently involved in with CBS, which allows local stations to screen episodes.

Sony Pictures Television chairman Keith Le Goy said: “We are thrilled to bring America’s favorite game shows to an even wider audience on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and Peacock.

“Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are two of the most successful game shows in television history, and we look forward to giving fans the best possible streaming access to our shows this fall.”
Jeopardy! fans demand major rule change to shake up format as show has ‘gone downhill’ with ‘carousel’ of one-day champs
Sony sued CBS for allegedly breaching their deal and attempting to syndicate the show abroad as the two entertainment giants are currently embroiled in a legal wrangle.

The U.S. Sun previously revealed Jeopardy! continues to be one of America’s favorite gameshows among viewers.

Ken Jennings took over the hosting duties from the show in 2022.

According to Nielsen, Jeopardy! pulled a solid 8,902,000 viewers to the show in early March.

Wheel of Fortune – hosted by Ryan Seacrest – trailed slightly behind in the number two spot with 8,477,000 viewers.

In third came Family Feud with 7,218,000 fans.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has aired its final episode of the year, but when will the Young Sheldon spinoff be back with new episodes in 2025?

Fans won’t have to wait too long, but there will be a few weeks’ wait until the midseason premiere. The most recent episode to air was “An Old Mustang,” on CBS on Thursday, December 12. The installment followed Georgie (Montana Jordan) as he worked to include Mandy’s (Emily Osment) brother in a project he was completing with his father-in-law Jim (Will Sasso).

Meanwhile, Mandy teamed up with her mother Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) in an attempt to decorate baby CeeCee’s nursery without fighting, a challenge that was easier said than done. Although Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will continue to air on Thursdays, the show will kick off the new year with encore episodes until Thursday, January 30, when the season picks back up.

There is currently no episode title or description for the installment that will kick things off, but there have been some teases for what viewers might be able to anticipate as we gear up for the next half of the freshman season.

As we reported in November, following the show’s Thanksgiving installment, executive producer Steve Holland shared that Matt Hobby, who played Pastor Jeff on Young Sheldon, will reprise his role in an upcoming episode.

“It’s actually really sweet because everyone’s been on set… even for episodes that they weren’t in, like, Matt Hobby,” Holland had revealed at the time about shooting the Thanksgiving episode. He added, “He’s actually going to be in an episode coming up, but before that, he had come to visit.”

Since our report, TVLine teased that Hobby’s return is officially set for February, in an episode that also brings back Georgie’s mom, Mary (Zoe Perry).

Stay tuned for more on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage as we approach the midseason premiere in January 2025, and let us know what you hope to see as the show continues on CBS in the comments section, below.

Ryan Seacrest sued for ‘promoting illegal gambling’ at online casino

RYAN Seacrest has been sued for promoting an alleged ‘illegal gambling’ site as part of his deal with an online casino, court records obtained by The U.S. Sun show.

The Wheel of Fortune and American Idol host is facing a lawsuit from Aubrey Carillo, who alleges she “lost money” due to the company’s “criminal scam.”

In December 2023, Chumba Casino, an online social slot game app, announced its partnership with Ryan, 50.

The online gambling site claims it has “over one million players” who use their games every single day.

Ryan has been seen in promotions for Chumba Casino on their website, social media pages, and other online advertisements.

He most recently appeared in an ad for the casino just five days ago.

In a lawsuit obtained by The U.S. Sun, the plantiff is suing both Ryan and parent company Virtual Gaming Worlds – requesting it shut down operations in California.

The doc claims that the online casino “violates” California Penal Code 322 – which by law “prohibits individuals from aiding or assisting in setting up, managing, or drawing any lottery, or selling or disposing of any ticket, chance, or share therein.”

The court papers, which were first reported by TMZ, also allege that Ryan and the casino are “profiting from gambling addiction.”

“For decades, the proportion of Americans diagnosed with pathological gambling held steady at less than 1 percent, with 7 million Americans believed to be suffering from a gambling addiction at an annual ‘social cost’ of $14 billion.

“But those numbers have skyrocketed with the advent of online gambling: from 2021 to 2022, there was a 45 percent increase in the number of calls, texts, and messages to the National Problem Gambling Helpline.

“The United States may be on the cusp of an explosive growth of gambling addiction akin to the opioid crisis, fueled by online access to gambling websites,” the suit claims.

A gambling treatment provider warned in the doc: “[U]nregulated platforms [like ChumbaCasino.com] can pose significant risks for players struggling with gambling addiction.

“The lack of proper safeguards often exacerbates financial and emotional stress, making it harder for individuals to regain control.”

Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune announces major change to shows starting next season as fans rave ‘this is long overdue!’
The plaintiff claimed that “at least one child” in her family had accessed online gambling websites, like ChumbaCasino.com, and is seeking to “protect them and other minors from future access and use of such websites.”

The suit seeks to have the state of California stop operating the online gambling websites and requests that Ryan stop “profiting” off the website.

The U.S. Sun reached out to Ryan’s rep for comment.

    RISKY BUSINESS

In 2023, Chumba Casino announced it had entered a partnership with the TV icon.

“We were really pleased with how the GP Celebrity Challenge was received and equally excited about working with Ryan, which marks Chumba’s most notable partnership with a celebrity to date.

“Ryan’s not only obviously incredibly talented but has broad recognition and traits that align with our brand.

“I don’t want to give too much away, but we have some pretty cool plans in this space across all our brands going forward.

“Which will enhance our spend efficiency and overall marketing strategy,”  David Lyons, General Manager of Chumba Casino and Global Poker, said in a statement at the time.

Ryan seemed thrilled about the gig, saying after his newest role: “Who doesn’t love games?

“I’m now excited to announce my partnership with Chumba to bring the fun home all year long, making it accessible and easy to all.”

Ryan has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuit.

ABC was the final huge channel to unveil its schedule for the Fall TV season.

It has been confirmed that Ryan Seacrest will take over Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune for season six.

The American Idol host will replace Pat Sajak as he takes to the airwaves alongside Vanna White in a new time slot.

The game show will now be airing at Friday’s at 8 pm instead of Wednesdays, which has resulted in a move for another show.

Business program Shark Tank will now be seen on Wednesdays just behind The Golden Bachelor.

However, fans have become concerned about Doctor Odyssey, which has not yet been renewed.

The second spin-off of the 9-1-1 franchise, aptly called 9-1-1: Nashville, will air on Thursday in the 9pm slot.

This will replace Ryan Murphy’s glossy cruise ship medical drama, Doctor Odyssey.

Craig Erwich, President, Disney Television Group confirmed the show would not be a part of the schedule.

The studio executive told Deadline, “Doctor Odyssey isn’t currently on our schedule.

“Ryan’s [Murphy] really busy. He’s doing a lot with us. 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Nashville, All’s Fair.

“So we’re just continuing that creative conversations with him.”

This has led fans to worry as they took to social media as they begged ABC not to cancel Doctor Odyssey.

One user begged, “Please renew Dr. Odyssey! You cancel all my favorite shows all the time!”

    Ryan Seacrest’s Current Jobs

Ryan Seacrest is quite the workaholic, with the Hollywood multiphenate juggling perhaps more ongoing jobs than any other A-lister:

-Host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC
-Host of American Top 40 on KIIS-FM
-Host of On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM
-Host of American Idol since its very first season in 2001
-Host of Wheel of Fortune as of 2024

Ryan has exited many previous roles in the past few years to get where he is today, including as an executive producer of Hulu’s The Kardashians and co-host of Live! with Kelly and Mark.

Hard work pays off; according to Celebrity Net Worth, Ryan’s worth a fortune of $450 million

A second exclaimed, “My wife loves Doctor Odyssey. How do you put out a schedule without knowing the fates of your programs?”

“I don’t think there is room on ABC’s schedule for Doctor Odyssey if renewed to get 18 episodes,” suggested a third.

While a fourth stated, “What is the deal with the constant delay of Doctor Odyssey’s fate?”

And a fifth added, “Not looking good for Doctor Odyssey. I wish they’d just say it.”

After correctly guessing her first number, Drew, 66, forgot to tell her to grab a card from the wall to collect her winning change.

The game show host admitted that he “almost forgot,” joking that the player was “doing so well” that he “blanked.”

Before heading to grab her card, Barbie turned toward the crowd and rolled her eyes at the host’s mistake.

The contestant ended up winning a new Chevy with all her racked-up change, which totaled well over the 75 cents she needed.

Barbie immediately walked over to see her prize, shouting, “Oh my god I got a car!” as she opened the front door and grabbed onto the wheel.

    MEMORABLE MOMENTS

Wednesday’s episode had no shortage of wins, as another contestant, Shanetha secured a $10,000 vacation to Australia after playing Pick a Pair.

The player ran on stage with a black knee brace on one of her legs, which she said was from an ACL injury she got from “night clubbing.”

After Drew told her she had a “leg up” since she did the grocery shopping in her household, the contestant responded, “One leg up, just the good leg.”

The comedian then joked to George Gray, the show’s announcer, that she was “SOL with the ACL.”

The comment warranted laughs from both Shanetha and the audience.

    NON-HELPING HAND?

While Drew sometimes pokes fun at players during the popular game show, he also offers help when appropriate.

However, one helping hand during Tuesday’s episode may have potentially cost the contestant some money.

Ronnie agreed, and Drew helped her give the wheel a full rotation and land on the number 15.

Warranting another spin, Drew helped her once more in hopes that she would land an 85 to total 100.

She landed on 95, however, which put her out of the game.

“I’ll take the blame for that. Ronnie, I’m so sorry,” the host told her while shaking her hand.

Mother-daughter duo Sharol and Tionna managed to win One Bid in contestant’s row, allowing them to move on to play a pricing game.

The duo were ecstatic that their bid – one dollar over a fellow contestant’s – allowed them to secure their spot on the game show.

Sharol and Tionna couldn’t contain their excitement as they jumped up and down.

They briefly hugged Drew Carey who looked on as they danced on-stage, bumping each other’s hips and shaking their hands in the air.

The duo then proceeded to shake, shimmy, and for a brief moment, even grind on Drew Carey.

“Oh, oh, oh!” they exclaimed, cheering and whooping it up.

Drew nervously chuckled, trying hard to contain himself in front of the live audience and viewers at home.

The game show’s Instagram account posted a few clips of the duo, who showed off their sensational dancing skills before proceeding to play the game at hand: the Grand Game.

“These two were fun to watch,” The Price Is Right’s Instagram account wrote in the caption of its post.

“This mother-daughter duo was on *fire*,” the show wrote, over video clips of Sharol and Tionna’s time on stage.

Sharol and Tionna were selected to play the Grand Game, where they had a chance to win up to $10,000 in cash by selecting products under a certain price.

Drew Carey read off the target price, which, for this particular game, was $6.50.

“Now, we have six grocery items here,” he told the duo, adding that “four of them are priced less than $6.50.”

The duo, wearing matching green T-shirts and ripped jeans, nodded, following along as Drew continued to explain the rules.

    The Price is Right Hosts

The Price is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.

Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)

Drew Carey – October 2007 to present

Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes, also hosted the nighttime version

Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special

“All you have to do is tell me which four [are under that price],” he added.

“Every time you get one right, we’ll add one zero to that board,” Drew said.

The board’s starting price was $1, meaning for each item Sharol and Tionna correctly selected as being under $6.50, they would win $10, $100, $1,000, or the grand prize – $10,000.

The duo were then shown six grocery items, including:

16-ounce container of Mom’s Best Cereals Quick Oats
One Scrub Daddy’s Scrub Mommy Scrubbing Sponge
Six-count box of Nestlē’s Abuelita Hot Chocolate Tablets
25-ounce jar of Yo Mama’s Spicy Marinara Tomato Sauce
One 0.34-ounce box of Mommy’s Bliss Baby Probiotic Drops
One 11-ounce package of Grandma’s Frozen Noodles Wide Egg Noodles

“Give me one that you know for sure is less than $6.50,” Drew asked the duo.

The contestants confided in each other before glancing over at the audience, ultimately selecting the noodles.

They were right – the noodles were $4.29, well under the $6.50 maximum.

“Alright, wow” Drew said, adding that the noodles’ price was, “More than I thought it was going to be.”

Sharol and Tionna then selected the oats, which ended up being $3.29.

“The sponge, the sponge!” the duo shouted before Drew could even ask them what item they had in mind as their next choice.

“That’s a big sponge, man,” Drew quipped, before revealing the price: $4.99.

“There you go,” he added, as the duo’s total moved up to $1,000.

“Hot chocolate, hot chocolate!” Sharol and Tionna yelled as Drew walked towards them.

“You guys have $1,000, you can stop right now if you want, because if you get the next one wrong you lose everything,” Drew chimed in.

“You do get an extra nine grand if you get this next one right,” he added, giving the duo a few seconds to contemplate their decision.

Sharol and Tionna looked at each other before turning to the audience for advice.

The audience agreed with their previous choice, shouting “hot chocolate” at the duo.

“We’re going to go with the hot chocolate,” Sharol told Drew.

Drew slowly walked up to the hot chocolate, before revealing the item’s price: $5.49.

The duo erupted into screams, running around in circles, jumping up and down, and dancing around the stage.

    The Price is Right Models

Although The Price is Right is mostly about the contestants who win prizes, there are other people on the show. Drew Carey hosts and there are a handful of models, who help show off the prizes. Get to know them here.

Manuela Arbelaez – She joined the show in 2008. Manuela was born in Columbia, and has also appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Amber Lancaster – She also joined The Price is Right in 2008. Before the game show, Amber was a cheerleader for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. She also starred on The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and MTV’s The Hard Times of RJ Berger.

Devin Goda – Devin joined the game show in 2018 after he suffered a football injury and pivoted his career to modeling.

Rachel Reynolds – She is the longest-running Price is Right model. Rachel joined in 2003. She ran track before becoming a part of the show.

James O’Halloran – He was offered the job in 2014 after winning the male model search. James grew up in Melbourne, Australia, where he worked as an industrial designer. He has dabbled in soap operas, starring on The Young and the Restless.

Alexis Gaube – She is the newest member of TPIR family, joining the show in 2021. Alexis studied apparel merchandising and product design at Bowling Green State University before getting her current role.

“They bumped up a BIG win…” one user commented, alongside several fire emojis, a bullseye emoji, and an exclamation point emoji.

    “Nice one,” they added.

However, not all viewers were as congratulatory towards the pair.

“Hopefully in the future they were learn not to CHEAT to get ahead!! They were ‘dollar up’ bidders. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should…….” one user wrote.

In the contestant’s row, the contestant who bids closest to the retail price of an item – without going over – wins the prize and gets to play a pricing game.

“They didn’t Cheat! It has always been part of the rules. Recently, someone bid $1 over another bidder. Much to everyones surprise, the original bidder was the actual price and won the extra $500,” another user replied.

Contestants who correctly guess the retail price are awarded a $500 cash bonus – or up to $1,000 during the show’s primetime specials.

“That is completely different!! They bid the EXACT price, regardless of how it was done. These two above, bid $1 up from their opponent!! Doesn’t matter if it is allowed, it is still CHEATING!!” the original user exclaimed.

Bidding just $1, or $1 over another contestant, is allowed during One Bid.

“If they would have bid $25 to $50 more, they would have won, but they had to do it this way, which makes them CHEATERS!!” the critic continued.

“KARMA will find them……it always finds their ‘man”!!!!’” they added, clearly upset over the fact the duo managed to make it out of contestant’s row and onto the stage fair and square.

“Quit being a hater !!!!!!” another user commented, defending the duo.

“I will be a ‘hater’, because it isn’t right, & just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should…………KARMA will find them both tenfold!!” the original user replied.

Still, despite the negativity online, Sharol and Tionna are laughing – and grinding – all the way to the bank, as the duo are now $10,000 richer.

THE Price is Right host Drew Carey has been roasted by fans for an on-stage quip that wasn’t on the money with the audience.

Drew, 66, joined a contestant named Ryan for The Money Game.

The Money Game involves a board of nine two-digit numbers, two of which are the first and last two digits of a car’s price.

The middle digit is revealed at the outset, and the contestant chooses one figure at a time.

Ryan chose a “25,” the correct first digits of the navy sedan’s cost

Next, Ryan chose “52,” and Drew walked over to the board to find the corresponding panel.

“Car 52, where are you?” Drew asked, referencing the opening theme song from Scooby Doo.

The joke was not met with any laughter, and The Price is Right host nervously smiled.

“No?” he asked the crowd, quietly chuckling with a spaced-out “ha ha” as he found the panel.

“52” was a dollar sign, so it was placed in the player’s cash column.

Ryan still had to pick the panel with the two digits, and Drew awkwardly said, “Let’s try not to stretch it out. I’d like to get it over with.”

Ryan correctly chose “83” as the last two digits of the car’s value, winning the car.

He rushed over to the side of the stage to claim his new whip.

    ‘THAT WAS ROUGH LOL’

Fans drove the comments section of the Instagram clip, where a few dunked on Drew, made worse by the fact he’s a comedian.

“Drew really aging himself with the ‘car 52 where are you’ comment that nobody laughed at,” one fan wrote, which was the top-liked comment.

“Yeah, that was rough lol,” replied another.

Others enjoyed the segment: “This and the die game is my favorite game to win a car,” another comment read.

    COSTLY SCHEDULE CHANGE?

Season 53 of the iconic game show premieres in late September.

Some fans were outraged over the show’s schedule change to its new season.

The Price is Right at Night will return on September 23rd, airing on Monday nights on CBS from 8 to 9 p.m. EST.

However, the night episodes used to air on Wednesdays.

With the switch from Wednesdays to Mondays, some fans are worried that Monday Night Football will affect future episodes.

Football often delays programs when the games go into overtime.

“I don’t know why CBS is moving the night shows to Monday night? They are now competing head-to-head with NFL Monday Night Football,” one fan said on Reddit.

    “That’s definitely unfair,” another wrote.

    CUT IT OUT!

In a bit of a lower-stakes request, fans are also pining for the show to eliminate the Lucky 7 game.

In a recent Instagram comments section, viewers asked producers to cut the game from the show overall, as it has such a low success rate.

“I’ve been watching the show for 50 plus years and it’s very rare for someone to win on Lucky 7 that’s a hard game but good for her that must mean there’s going to be a show on tonight,” one wrote.

“Hope Lucky Seven or what I really like to called it UNLUCKY SEVEN needs to stop playing more often come Season 53 or it’s going to be the producers’ fault,” a second slammed.

Another viewer also called the show’s Time Is Money segment “awful.”

“Your TIME IS MONEY game is awful. First of all, why do you give the contestant only 10 seconds to grab and place all of the items? It should be 15 seconds MINIMUM,” they wrote.

“Slowing it down by a few seconds would be more fair and it would still be fast paced. Please consider these minor changes before it affects one of your contestants.”

During the game, players are given seven one-dollar bills to start as they begin to predict each digit.

For each incorrect number guessed, the player must give back one dollar bill to Drew.

The contestant must have $1 left after all the digits are revealed to win.

They can then purchase the car for $1, essentially winning the game.

More often than not, the game ends in a loss.
