Major Cast Shake-Up for “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” Season 2: Who’s In, Who’s Out?

Fans eagerly awaiting the second season of “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” are abuzz with news of potential cast changes, stirring both excitement and apprehension. While some beloved faces are confirmed to return, whispers suggest that one key star might not be joining Georgie and Mandy on their continued journey, while others are presumably set for a comeback.

The spin-off series, which quickly captured the hearts of viewers with its charming portrayal of young love and family dynamics, is heading into its sophomore season with an eye on evolving storylines. However, with evolution often comes transformation, and the casting roster appears to be no exception.

Confirmed Return: Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper

No surprises here for fans! Montana Jordan will, of course, be returning as the endearing Georgie. As the eldest Cooper sibling, Georgie has matured significantly, transitioning from a tough-exterior teenager to a hard-working, loyal young man grappling with early fatherhood and marriage. His journey reveals a vulnerable and determined side, driven by a deep desire to provide a stable future for his growing family. Georgie’s street smarts and resourcefulness, coupled with his strong Texas roots and values of family and tradition, make him a compelling and relatable character, whose continued presence is vital to the series’ core.

Confirmed Return: Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister

Similarly, fans can rest assured that Emily Osment will be reprising her role as the sharp-witted and independent Mandy. A former weather reporter whose life took an unexpected turn with early motherhood and marriage to Georgie, Mandy faces challenges head-on. Her character is defined by her wit, resilience, and unapologetic honesty. Beneath the sarcasm lies a deeply caring woman committed to her daughter and family. Mandy’s strength in adapting to chaotic moments and finding humor in adversity has made her a fan favorite, and her return is crucial for the continuation of the show’s central narrative.

The Lingering Question: Who Might Be Exiting?

While the confirmation of Jordan and Osment provides a solid foundation for Season 2, reports indicate that one significant star might have to exit the series. The identity of this potential departure remains a topic of intense speculation among the fanbase. [If you have specific information here, insert it. Otherwise, keep it vague as “whispers.”] This potential shift could pave the way for new character introductions or significant plot developments, adding an element of unpredictability to the upcoming season.

    Presumably Returning:

Beyond the confirmed leads, several other familiar faces are presumably set to return, ensuring continuity for the ensemble cast that makes “Happy’s Place” so special. [If you have names of other characters or actors likely returning, you can add them here.] Their continued involvement will undoubtedly help maintain the beloved atmosphere and intricate family dynamics that viewers have come to appreciate.

As “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” prepares for its second season, the confirmed returns of Montana Jordan and Emily Osment are certainly cause for celebration. However, the looming possibility of a cast departure keeps fans on edge, eagerly awaiting further announcements that will shape the future of this promising spin-off. Viewers will be keeping a close eye on official updates as production for Season 2 gears up.

“Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” Season 2 Spoil: Unexpected Twists Leave Fans Reeling!

“Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” Season 2 Spoil: Unexpected Twists Leave Fans Reeling!

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Can Fix A Major Young Sheldon Story With One Character Comeback

Emily Osment's Mandy looks panicked as Montana Jordan's Georgie stares in confusion from Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage

Although Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 didn’t bring back one iconic Young Sheldon supporting star, that doesn’t mean that season 2 can’t save Missy’s disappointing storyline with this big comeback. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has a tricky premise. When Young Sheldon’s finale ended, Georgie and Mandy were happily married and raising their first child, CeeCee, together. However, The Big Bang Theory season 11, episode 23, “The Sibling Realignment” already revealed that the pair eventually broke up.

Thus, Young Sheldon’s spinoff has to explain why this promising marriage failed while still keeping viewers entertained. To make matters more complicated for the sitcom, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage also has to balance its new characters with comebacks from Young Sheldon’s existing fan-favorite cast members. Already, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s Meemaw role may become smaller in season 2 as the show makes room for its breakout star Connor, more screen time for Georgie’s mother Mary, and bigger roles for Mandy’s parents, Audrey and Jim.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Must Bring Back Young Sheldon’s Paige

Sheldon’s Former Rival Left Young Sheldon Abruptly In Season 6

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 gave Meemaw a lot of screen time and story focus as her sports book betting scheme ended up involving Mandy, Jim, Audrey, and Georgie. However, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s Missy story was more disappointing. Missy appeared numerous times throughout the Young Sheldon spinoff’s first season, but she never got much in the way of sustained story focus. Missy’s only lead role came in episode 17, “Two Idiots on a Dirt Bike,” wherein she tried to run away from home with Beth’s son Todd.

Missy got in trouble at school in episode 2, “Some New York Nonsense,” and she attended Thanksgiving in episode 5, “Thanksgiving.” However, “Two Idiots on a Dirt Bike” was the only full episode of season 1 that centered on her experience, and it was mostly a retread of her earlier teen rebellion storylines from Young Sheldon. As such, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 should make up for this by bringing back a recurring guest star who brought out the best and the worst in Missy during her brief appearances in the earlier spinoff.

Paige needs to return for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2.

McKenna Grace’s Paige Swanson was first introduced as an early academic rival to Sheldon, but she soon went on to become his first crush and an unlikely ally. However, it was her friendship with Missy that really impacted the series, and this is precisely why Paige needs to return for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2. Paige’s frustration with her child-prodigy status led her to act out, getting drunk at college parties before she was even 16. This behavior soon rubbed off on Sheldon’s sister, with Paige later going on a multi-state joyride with Missy.

Paige’s Return Would Improve Missy’s Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Story

Missy’s Lone Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 1 Plot Focused On Her Love Life

Even though she and Missy were close friends in season 6, viewers never learned what happened to Paige when Young Sheldon ended. This was a shame for two reasons. Firstly, Paige was a compelling foil to Sheldon, and her character arc offered a sad depiction of what his life as a child prodigy might have looked like if he were a little less socially maladroit. Secondly, Paige’s presence also makes Missy a more complex character, finally bringing the rebellious teen out of her shell.

Dougie Baldwin's Connor Rachel Bay'Jones's Audrey and Will Sasso's Jim stand together in the family home from Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage

Missy’s friendship with Paige showed more of her internal life, from her vulnerability to her most rebellious edges. Much like Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s breakout star Connor humanized Georgie and highlighted his caring side, Paige proved that Missy was more than Sheldon’s eternally overshadowed twin sister. During the pair’s thwarted joyride, viewers got new insight into Missy’s dreams and her fears. This was a welcome change in a series that mostly focused on its title character, and this sort of introspection is overdue now that Missy is the only Cooper kid without a show of her own.

Paige’s Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Comeback Solves A Young Sheldon Plot Hole

Young Sheldon Season 7 Left Paige’s Fate Unexplained

On a more straightforward practical level, Paige’s return would explain a huge lingering plot hole Young Sheldon left unresolved. Young Sheldon season 7 never explained what happened to Paige or why Sheldon forgot about her, even though she played a major role in his formative years, and he never even mentioned her name in The Big Bang Theory. While Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2’s Connor story will most likely occupy a lot of the show’s attention, the series should also explain why Sheldon forgot about this pivotal figure from his youth.

It would make sense if Paige betrayed Missy so badly that the whole Cooper family disowned her and never mentioned her again.

Two believable explanations for this Young Sheldon plot hole could be that Paige either betrayed Missy badly or remains friends with her until the present day, and both of these offer interesting stories for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 to explore. In retrospect, it would make sense if Paige betrayed Missy so badly that the whole Cooper family disowned her and never mentioned her again. This would also fit the trend of Missy’s recent storylines from the spinoff, as her tumultuous personal life consistently provides fires for Georgie to extinguish.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Can Fix A Big Bang Theory Canon Problem

Sheldon Never Mentioned Paige In The Original Series

On the other hand, if Paige and Missy remain close friends even in adulthood, this would also explain why Sheldon never mentioned her in The Big Bang Theory. If the pair remain friends, then Sheldon may just think of Paige as his sister’s best friend now that he lives elsewhere. This would also be an intriguing story for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2’s plot, since Paige was clearly a chaotic influence on the already restless Missy. Cementing Paige’s status as Missy’s best friend could lead to Missy causing even more chaos for Georgie.

As Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 begins, the show has a lot of ground to cover. Between Mary’s role in Georgie’s business, Georgie and Mandy’s struggles, and Connor’s love life, there are many plots the show must prioritize. However, Missy’s disappointing role in season 1 means the series can’t simply ignore her again. Thus, the show must bring back McKenna Grace’s Paige. This Young Sheldon character deserves a better sendoff, and her return to the world of the series would allow Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 to finally spotlight Missy’s internal world once again.

Lennie James recently won a BAFTA for his leading role in the mini-series “Mr. Loverman,” and for good reason: His performance is as whole and mesmerizing a portrait as one sees on television.

“Loverman,” arriving Wednesday, on BritBox, is based on the novel by Bernardine Evaristo and follows Barrington Jedidiah Walker (James), an Antiguan native who has been living in London for decades. He is a self-described “man of property, man of style,” a dapper dresser and a Shakespeare enthusiast, husband to a devout Christian woman, father to two adult daughters and grandfather to a teen boy.

BBC releases trailer for new drama Mr Loverman

He is also closeted. His long-term partner, Morris (Ariyon Bakare, who also won a BAFTA for his work here and is also fantastic), has been his best friend and lover since they met in Antigua as young men; he is Uncle Morris to Barry’s children, a constant presence, a secret and not a secret, a betrayal but also a devotion.

But Barry balks at labels, and he says he isn’t a homosexual but rather “a Barry sexual.” Barry swears he is about to leave his wife, about to tell her the truth. But he has sworn that before.

The show weaves among the characters’ perspectives, and long flashbacks depict the pivotal moments that carve each person’s reality. We hear their internal monologues, though none sing quite as melodically as Barry’s does.

“Loverman” is polished and literary, practically silky — sublime, even. It’s natural to be baffled by other people’s choices: Why would you do that? Why didn’t you say anything? Why would you stay? Why would you leave? A lot of contemporary shows — even plenty of good ones — fall back on pat just-so stories for their characters’ backgrounds, but the picture here is deeper and fuller than that. Fear and pain, love and loyalty: They’re never just one thing.

There are eight half-hour episodes of “Mr. Loverman.” I couldn’t resist bingeing it, not because it’s so propulsive, per se, but because it’s so lovely.

Ahead of the Season 2 finale, IndieWire can exclusively share that “The Rehearsal,” Nathan Fielder’s inventive, inquisitive TV experiment that reached new heights in its recent run of aviation-themed episodes, will be submitting for several Emmy categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

While categories like Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Fielder and Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series will use the whole season for consideration, the episode highlighted in the majority of the other Emmy categories “The Rehearsal” is vying for is the third one, “Pilot’s Code.”

In Episode 3, a situation in which Fielder helps a couple who is unsatisfied with their cloned dog evolves into the creator/star meditating on what led to pilot Sully Sullenberger being able to execute the “Miracle on the Hudson” landing. Fielder has been submitted for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series alongside Carrie Kemper, Adam Locke-Norton, and Eric Notarnicola.

“Pilot’s Code” has also been submitted for Outstanding Cinematography, Picture Editing, Production Design, Contemporary Costumes, Contemporary Hairstyling, Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), and Sound Mixing for a comedy and/or half-hour series.

A couple of outliers for “The Rehearsal” Emmy submissions are Episode 4, titled “Kissme,” where Fielder helps a pilot with his dating life, which will be submitted for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, and the finale episode “My Controls,” which will also be submitted for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.

While Season 1 of “The Rehearsal” collected accolades such as a Gotham Award, Film Independent Spirit Award, Television Critics Association Award, Cinema Eye Honors Award nominations for its mysterious blend of reality and fantasy, IndieWire TV Critic Ben Travers wrote that “Season 2 convinced me it’s an earnest effort to improve people’s lives and a sidesplitting comedy and a moving emotional odyssey for Nathan — as a character or a real human being, take your pick! — well, that’s what makes ‘The Rehearsal’ Season 2 a cut above the vast majority of television, as well as a shrewd improvement on Season 1.”

The Many Reasons Behind ABC’s ‘Last Man Standing’ Cancellation

Star Tim Allen breaks his silence on the surprising cancellation as ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey and THR explain the why of it all.

Why 'Last Man Standing' Was Canceled | Tim Allen responds

    Courtesy of ABC

ABC decision to cancel Tim Allen vehicle Last Man Standing was one of the biggest shockers of the upfront season.

The multicamera comedy produced by 20th Century Fox Television was in its sixth season and had carved out a solid viewership on little-watched Friday nights. For the uninitiated, Fridays are typically earmarked for programming with reduced viewership expectations, where a comedy like Last Man Standing and its 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers is seen as impressive.

“A large part of these jobs are managing failure, and we have made the tough calls and canceled shows that we would otherwise love to stay on the air. That’s the job. I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons that I canceled Dr. KenThe Real O’NealsThe Catch and American Crime,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey told reporters Tuesday ahead of her upfront presentation to advertisers. “Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Fridays, that was where we landed.”

Dungey stressed that star Allen’s conservative leaning (he’s pro-Trump) did not factor into her decision to cancel the series and noted that the Disney-owned network axed programming from multiple studios: Sony Pictures Television (Dr. Ken, Imaginary Mary), Warner Bros. Television (Time After Time) and even its own ABC Studios (The Catch, American Crime).

“There are many factors that go into the decision-making process: ratings, critical acclaim … of course we look at ownership structure,” Dungey said of the rising importance of ownership at all of the Big Four broadcast networks. Ultimately, Dungey stressed that Allen’s political affiliation — he has compared being a conservative in Hollywood to “‘30s Germany” — did not play a role in the decision to ax the comedy. “I wouldn’t say that was the deciding factor,” she said.

From a financial point of view, ABC did not own Last Man Standing and had been reducing licensing fees on many of its aging shows — including Sony’s The Goldbergs, ABC Studios’ Once Upon a Time and 20th TV’s Modern Family — in a bid to reduce costs amid dwindling viewership and ad dollars.

It’s also worth noting that of ABC’s new 2017-18 slate, the network did renew 20th TV bubble comedy Fresh Off the Boat — which has greater critical appeal vs. Last Man — when the bulk of its schedule is produced in-house by ABC Studios. (ABC, unlike NBC and Fox, did buy new programming from outside studios this season.)

Additionally, that Last Man was wrapping its sixth season meant Allen would need to renegotiate his contract — adding an additional costs to the aging series as ABC also was set to shoulder a larger share of the overall price tag on the comedy.

Another factor, as Dungey noted, was ABC’s move away from comedy on Fridays. Next season, ABC will open the night with former Sunday staple Once Upon a Time, followed by Marvel drama Inhumans (and subsequently Agents of SHIELD). Both Once and SHIELD have a 22-episode seasons and will be followed at 10 p.m. by Shark Tank. ABC will open the fall without a multicamera comedy for the first time in years after axing Last Man and Dr. Ken.

Keep track of all the broadcast renewals, cancellations and series pickups with THR’s handy scorecard.

EP Steve Holland also tells TheWrap about establishing the “Young Sheldon” spinoff series as a “show that’s got legs”

Note: This story contains spoilers from “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” Season 1, Episode 22.

Montana Jordan’s Georgie took one step closer to becoming the tire magnate depicted in “The Big Bang Theory” in the “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” Season 1 finale, as he bought the tire shop from Mandy’s dad, Jim (Will Sasso).

The change was set up in the season’s penultimate episode, which saw Jim considering a potential sale of the store, citing that Georgie Sr. (Lance Barber) was younger than him when he died. While Jim considered an offer from his rival, Georgie steps up in the finale with an offer to buy the shop — a choice that EP Steve Holland said comes out of Georgie’s “youthful confidence.”

“He just jumps in and believes he can do it,” Holland told TheWrap, adding that there’s a bit of Georgie in Jordan, himself, as the “Young Sheldon” actor jumped into multicamera production for the spinoff series without hesitation.

“Georgie just feels like he can jump into something and work really hard at it [and] he can succeed,” Holland said. “I don’t think this will always hold true [but] so far, life has taught him that.”
Georgie-MandyJessie Prez as Ruben and Montana Jordan as Georgie in “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” (Sonja Flemming/CBS)
Ruben (Jessie Prez) jumps in to provide the rest of the offer with Georgie, marking an unprecedented sign of trust after seeing Ruben grumble about Georgie’s seniority at the tire shop due to his familial relationship with Jim. Holland noted the shift came out of a desire to weave in work stories with what’s going on at home for Georgie and Mandy (Emily Osment).

With Georgie and Ruben, who Holland said “don’t necessarily love each other that much” becoming business partners, Holland teased a new dynamic going into Season 2, full of opportunities for stories. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

TheWrap: Mandy has been keeping this secret about her ex-boyfriend being her new boss, which really riles Georgie up. Why is it something he’s struggling to get past?

Steve Holland: It was more than just that she’s working with her ex, it was the fact that she had been doing it and keeping it from him that makes him less OK with it. Georgie is young — he doesn’t have nearly as much experience in life and in relationships as Mandy — and I think that might be a little bit of an insecurity for him. As much as we play Georgie as being driven and responsible and mature, he’s still 20. He’s still pretty young and not super experienced at life and relationships, and his jealousy felt real.

As they fight about it, Georgie’s age seems to be something that Mandy uses against him and Georgie is particularly sensitive to. Do you see that as a hallmark in their relationship or will it shift over time?

I think it’s always going to be a part of their relationship. 11 years is a pretty big age gap, especially where they’re at in life. The interesting thing about their relationship and those two actors who have that actual age gap in life, is they don’t look like it. You have to almost remind the audience sometimes that there’s this age gap here, because when you see them together, they look like a great couple — it doesn’t look like one of them is so much younger than the other.
Georgie-MandyEmily Osment as Mandy and Christopher Gorham as Scott in “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” (Sonja Flemming/CBS)
What challenges might they Georgie and Ruben face as they start out running the shop?

I think they’re both getting into this thing over their heads. I think Georgie is brash and full of confidence, but he’s never run a big business before, and he and Ruben don’t always get along. Ruben probably feels, rightly, [that] he should be the senior partner. He makes the joke about it in the finale, but he’s got more experience. He’s working on his degree and he doesn’t take Georgie very seriously, so I think there’s going to be a lot of fun opportunities for conflict there.

Georgie says with the deal he makes they won’t be moving out anytime soon. Will they stay at Mandy’s parents home for all of Season 2 and the foreseeable future?

Certainly moving forward in Season 2. It’s always a trick — in sitcoms, especially multicam, you have to keep a little bit of the status quo. We want to keep our characters living [under] the same roof and at some point, why would they still live there? This seemed like a good opportunity to acknowledge that — there’s a reason they’re still going to be living here.

This season you had a good balance of seeing Mandy’s family alone while also incorporating Georgie’s family, whom we know so well. Is that about the balance you want to have moving forward?

I think so. I think we felt like at the end of the season, we had found a really good balance where I think we really got to use the “Young Sheldon” characters a good amount. It felt right, but it always felt like, at least to us, that the show was still “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage,” and the show really centered around that. And when we found opportunities to use Meemaw, Missy and Mary, that it was sort of in support of this show, but it felt right. They feel like they’re a part of this world. And obviously those actors are great and those characters are fantastic, so it’s really fun to use them and get to bring them back in. I feel like this was a pretty good balance when we use them fairly often.

What was it like bringing everyone back for that Mother’s Day episode?

Really, really fun. One of the great things in having Mary on the show is that her and Audrey really don’t get along, so it’s always fun to throw the two of them into a room together and just watch the sparks fly.

The series introduced two new characters in Ruben and Connor. What’s it been like developing them across Season 1?

One of the interesting things about this first season is that we had a core cast that we knew — most of them were from “Young Sheldon.” Ruben and Connor were the two new characters that we really had to figure out. It was actually really fun going into this season with those two actors and figuring out these characters. [With] Connor, I think we really got to lock in on who he was about halfway through … and it was really fun to get see him to a point where he could carry storylines. Ruben was a little trickier, because, yes, he’s great, but most of the stories didn’t seem to live at the tire store. That was one of the thoughts of having him buy into the store — it’ll be a great way to bring this actor we love more into these stories.

With the Season 2 green light, what have you already started brainstorming or throwing around for next season to explore?

We’re going to actually get a little bit of a break, and then we’ll be back in a few weeks to start the room up and start talking about what next season is. We spoke with Chuck [Lorre] about it a little bit when we were moving into this finale, and what that could mean for next season, so just in the broadest strokes, but we really haven’t dug down into it yet.

Lots of viewers of “Young Sheldon” might not have watched “The Big Bang Theory.” What are you finding for this spinoff — do you think it’s a lot of the “Young Sheldon” fans following?

My guess is that it’s a lot of “Young Sheldon” fans following, but I would have thought that about “Young Sheldon,” that it was mostly “Big Bang” fans following. For “Young Sheldon,” things changed when it went to Netflix — it found a whole new audience and a younger audience, especially, that hadn’t seen “Big Bang Theory.” There’s history with these characters, but we really want the show to be an open invitation and not require people to feel like they have to have done the homework of other shows to come to it. I think you can come to this without knowing those other shows, and I don’t think you’ll be lost.

Have you talked about how long you would want the show to go for?

We’re just enjoying it. It feels to us like it’s a show that’s got legs and can go on. It’s not a premise show that’s going to run out of story. It’s a relationship show, and there’s always stories in relationships. I hope it runs forever — is that too much to ask for?

    Key Points

The Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has been renewed by CBS for a second season.
Season 2 will focus on how Georgie’s ownership of McAllister Auto and Mandy’s promotion will impact their marriage.
The new season will premiere as part of CBS’ 2025-2026 prime-time schedule.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the Young Sheldon spinoff about the ill-fated marriage of its namesake characters, wrapped its first season in May with the couple still together.

Across its 22-episode debut outing, the comedy followed Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan), the older brother of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon‘s Sheldon Cooper, after his marriage to Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), who’s 12 years his senior and the mother of his daughter, CeeCee. The couple live in Medford, Tex., with Mandy’s family as Georgie works at the auto shop of her dad, Jim (Will Sasso), and she pursues her dreams of becoming a weather reporter.

Despite Sheldon being nowhere in sight, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage drew big numbers for CBS, averaging more than 12 million viewers per episode across broadcast and streaming. Bazinga, indeed.

As its title implies (and The Big Bang Theory confirms), Georgie and Mandy’s marriage is not a till-death situation, but audiences are nevertheless curious about what, exactly, serves to shake up what the first season shows to be a strong bond between the pair.

So, will there be a season 2? When will it come out? And will Sheldon make a cameo or not? Read on as we share everything we know about Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, including its release date, cast, plot, and more.

Yes, CBS announced that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage would return for a second season as part of its 2025-2026 prime-time schedule.

How did Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 end?

Sonja Flemming/CBS Emily Osment as Mandy and Christopher Gorham as Scott on 'Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage'

As season 1 draws to a close, Mandy lands herself a full-time job as a prime-time weather reporter at a Texas TV station. Georgie, meanwhile, seeks to buy the auto shop after Jim considers selling it to a local rival, Fred Fagenbacher (Matt Letscher).

Of course, these exciting developments come with their own complications. While Mandy is thrilled about her promotion — and her popularity among viewers — Georgie is furious to learn that her boss, Scott (Christopher Gorham), is also her ex. He demands she quit, but she refuses.

Georgie eventually relents, given that they’ll need the money from her job. Though he succeeds in buying McAllister Auto, he has to take on ample debt to do so, including putting up his mom’s house as collateral to secure a bank loan. And to match Fagenbacher’s offer, he also has to bring on his co-worker Ruben (Jessie Prez) as a partner. A dicey proposition, considering the pair’s combative relationship.

Compounding his anxiety is Fagenbacher. Upset about being undercut, the Texas bigwig resolves to put Georgie out of business.

As for Georgie and Mandy? They’re on shaky ground, but straining to make things work for the sake of CeeCee.

What will Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 be about?

Season 2, of course, will continue the series’ inevitable march toward Georgie and Mandy’s split, though it may not unfold as expected.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the show’s premiere last year, Osment teased, “[The title] makes the viewer wonder if this is their first marriage or what could be their second marriage? Will their second marriage be to each other? There’s a lot of questions that are asked when you look at that title.”

Executive producer Steve Holland agreed, saying, “I think how you should interpret that title, I hope, is intriguing, and a little playful, and a little mysterious.”

One roadblock to their union? Scott, Mandy’s boss at the TV station. While Mandy assures Georgie that she’s over Scott, it’s obvious that there’s still chemistry between the pair. Holland confirmed to TVLine that the plan is for Scott to return in season 2, so that tension has to head somewhere.

Osment also spoke to TVLine about the relationship and where she’d like to see it go in season 2. “I think it’s a telling sign that [Scott] didn’t tell his fiancée about her,” she said. “I think [Mandy and Scott] have to have a brutally honest conversation with each other. I mean, that conversation they have in the office isn’t really all that truthful. They’re still kind of avoiding some stuff. I hope that there’s a storyline where Mandy meets his fiancée, too.”

As for Georgie, fans of The Big Bang Theory know that he eventually succeeds in the auto industry as the savvy owner of Dr. Tire. Getting there, however, is likely to include its fair share of ups and downs, which will surely be explored in season 2 as he makes his first steps as a business owner.

The season 1 finale already teased some of Georgie’s business conflicts in season 2. In addition to paying off his considerable debts, he’ll be forced to navigate his tense relationship with co-owner Ruben and deal with Fagenbacher, who’s vowed to crush McAllister Auto.

The McAllister home will see some changes too, now that Jim’s retired. While that’s good news for him, it could be bad for his wife, Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones), and unemployed son, Connor (Dougie Baldwin), who will need to adjust to Jim’s newfound surplus of free time.

Holland spoke broadly about his plans for season 2 with TVLine. “Moving into next season, one of the things that seems interesting to us is they both have these big wins in some way — he has his new business and she has this new job — but those wins are also going to complicate their relationship,” he said. “It’s going to make it more difficult for them to find time to be a couple. Having those real stakes is part of what we like about the show.”

Who’s in the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 cast?

Troy Harvey/CBS Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey, Montana Jordan as Georgie, and Will Sasso as Jim

No official casting has been announced for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 just yet, but it couldn’t exist with Jordan’s Georgie and Osment’s Mandy, so we’ll certainly see them return. Audrey, Connor, and Jim will likely return as well, what with Georgie telling Mandy that they won’t be moving out of the McAllister home any time soon in the season 1 finale.

Speaking with TVLine, Holland confirmed that the plan is to bring Gorham’s Scott back for season 2. That said, Gorham was recently cast in a lead role opposite Morena Baccarin on the upcoming CBS series Sheriff Country, slated to premiere this fall. Scheduling could be a conflict.

Holland acknowledged as much to TVLine but said they’re hoping to keep Gorham aboard. “We love Chris. That’s a CBS show as well, so our hope is that we can work it out with their production team when we need him, and we can get ahead,” he said. “One of the benefits of that show being single camera is he probably won’t be shooting every day. Obviously, it’s out of the country, which makes it a little tricky, but we’re pretty confident we can work it out.”

A return date for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage hasn’t been announced yet, but the show is confirmed for CBS’ 2025-2026 broadcast season. It could premiere as soon as this fall.

David Alan Grier ‘got so angry’ at delayed TV audition he threw script down: ‘I got the job’

The comedian tells EW he learned a lesson from the experience.

David Alan Grier usually can’t help but make people laugh, but a burst of anger once helped him land a role.

“They kept me waiting so long that I got so angry; it was over an hour and a half,” Grier recalls of a frustrating audition during EW’s Awardist Comedy Actors Roundtable. “By the time I went in there, I threw the script down, and they said, ‘Okay, read.’ I did it with such anger.”

Grier, who currently stars on NBC’s St. Denis Medical, can’t quite recall what the role was, guessing “Miami Vice or something, the TV show.” But he does remember how the audition turned out.

Joining his fellow Emmy contenders Uzo Aduba (The Residence), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Nathan Lane (Mid-Century Modern), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary), and Michael Urie (Shrinking) in the discussion, hosted by EW Editorial Director Gerrad Hall, Grier, ever the storyteller, leaves his audience hanging on his words for a moment before breaking into laughter.

“I got the job,” he tells them.

His anger had actually been an asset.

“It was brilliant. We don’t know what he was thinking, but it worked. Thank you,” Grier says, imitating the people casting talking to each other about him.

The whole experience ended up being one that he appreciated.

“It was still a lesson,” Grier says. “See, that’s what I need to do every time. Not be angry, but go in with intention and, you know, do the work.”

The comedian’s long acting career has included projects such as In Living Color, the original Jumanji, Eddie Murphy’s Boomerang, 2023’s The Color Purple movie musical, sitcoms including The Carmichael ShowLife With Bonnie, and DAG, and an illustrious theater career.
He’s now starring as Dr. Ron in St. Denis Medical, a mockumentary-style comedy costarring Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, and more as the staff of a struggling hospital lacking funding and staff.

With all his expertise, Grier says he continues to feel excited about his work.

“Every new show. Every day is like the first day of school,” he says. “I love it. I want to act until I can’t. And what a life I chose, but I did not ever envision — I’m 68 — that I would be still working, that I would be still valued. And that I know what I’m doing, finally. All those years of ‘Can I do this?’ As an actor. I don’t know if I can do this. I’m going to try and do this. I come in not with ego, but with self-confidence that I know how to act.”

Is St. Denis Medical New Tonight April 8, 2025?

Fans may have a bitter pill to swallow this week. There is no new St. Denis Medical on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

But, the good news is fans won’t be left completely high and dry either. There will be a repeat of St. Denis Medical airing tonight.

The episode, titled “People Just Say Stuff Online,” will focus on Ron’s (David Alan Grier) bedside manner after a frustrated patient logs a complaint against him. Meanwhile, Alex (Allison Tolman) will insist that another unflattering online review is not really about her and Bruce (Josh Lawson) will confront his former high-school bully.

The repeat comes on the heels of an all-new episode last week (Episode 16), which saw the hospital’s top administrator Joyce Henderson (Wendi McLendon-Covey) questioning her friendship with a pharmaceutical rep after Ron forces her to take a closer look at the relationship.

    going-dutch-season-1-07

Going Dutch is returning for a second tour of duty. The freshman Fox sitcom has been renewed for a second season at the network. Deadline reports that both Going Dutch and its network stablemate, Animal Control, will be returning next season. The series’ first season is now streaming on Hulu.

Deadline reports that although the Denis Leary-led series’ ratings were not spectacular, the fact that the series is produced and owned by Fox may have played a part in the network’s decision.

Fox is also selling the series internationally; unlike many sitcoms, it is an international production, with a military base in Ireland standing in for Garrison Stroopsdorf, the fictional US Army base in Holland that serves as the show’s primary setting.

Additionally, Going Dutch and Animal Control are the only live-action sitcoms currently on Fox.

This may also mean that Fox may not order any new half-hour comedies for the upcoming TV season. Other renewals for Fox this season include the Molly Parker medical drama Doc, and the Seth MacFarlane animated comedy American Dad (which is moving from TBS back to its original network home).

    What Is ‘Going Dutch’ About?

Leary stars as Colonel Jack Quinn, an exemplary soldier with a serious attitude problem. On the cusp of promotion, he’s caught on tape badmouthing the entire US Army chain of command. As punishment, he’s banished to Garrison Stroopsdorf, the least important US military base on Earth.

It has a gourmet commissary, a popular bowling alley, and a world-class fromagerie. What it doesn’t have is discipline, battle-readiness, or, initially, weapons (they were under the Christmas decorations).

Colonel Quinn is determined to whip the base and its occupants into shape, with the help of his loyal aide Abraham Shaw (Danny Pudi), conniving supply sergeant Dana Conway (Laci Mosley), slovenly IT director Elias Papadakis (Hal Cumpston), and even his own estranged daughter, Maggie (Taylor Misiak).

Over the course of its first series, Colonel Quinn made some progress with his troops, and even one-upped longtime rival General Davidson (Joe Morton) in the season finale. He also found romance with local advocate Dr. Katja Vanderhoff (Catherine Tate).

Going Dutch is Leary’s return to TV. His longest-running small-screen role was Tommy Gavin, a troubled firefighter navigating post-9/11 New York on FX’s Rescue Me: that series ran for seven seasons and netted Leary multiple Emmy nominations. He also starred on the sitcoms The JobSex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, and The Moodys.

Going Dutch will return for a second season on Fox and its first season can now be streamed on Hulu. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
