Uncertainty Looms Over “The Kelly Clarkson Show” as Staff Watch for Next Moves

Staffers at “The Kelly Clarkson Show” are reportedly expressing uncertainty about the show’s future as Clarkson, 43, debates her next steps, per Page Six.

According to The Daily Mail, some team members fear that the singer and talk show host may choose to leave once her current contract expires in 2026. “Not feeling too stable,” the producer admitted. “She could bolt at any time. Where does that leave me?”

Despite the concerns, the producer emphasized that “everyone loves Kelly” and described her as “a wonderful person.” They added, “I would understand if she wanted to leave because she’s unhappy. She should move on.”

Considering Family, Music, and the Next Chapter

Reports surfaced earlier this year that Clarkson, a mother of two, has been considering stepping away from the daily demands of her Emmy-winning show. Sources told Page Six in April that Clarkson’s top priority remains her children — daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remy, 8.

“Kelly’s No. 1 priority is her children, and they always will be,” the industry insider shared. “The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South,” referring to her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.

Before relocating to New York City for the show, Clarkson lived in Encino, California, and Montana with her children and now-ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

In addition to family considerations, the singer is preparing to launch her ninth studio album and kick off a Las Vegas residency this summer — both seen as key factors in shaping her next professional moves.

NBC Eyes the Future and Possible Successors

While NBC executives have reportedly been eager to keep Clarkson on board, insiders say the network is now developing a list of possible successors, should she decide to step away.

One name circulating is former “Today” show host Hoda Kotb, who left the morning show in January after 26 years to focus on her daughters. “Maybe Hoda would be a better boss,” the production insider speculated. “I know she’s universally beloved and respected by her former coworkers.”

According to a source quoted by The Post, “There’s a long list of names, and Hoda is part of that list. NBC never wanted Hoda to leave. The question is, would Hoda want to do it?”

Although speculation swirls, no official decisions have been confirmed, and representatives for Clarkson and the show have yet to comment.

Despite the uncertainty, “The Kelly Clarkson Show” remains a daytime success, averaging 1.2 million viewers per day during the 2024–2025 season and earning an impressive 22 Daytime Emmy Awards to date.

Michael Buble was in a big dilemma of picking a winner and ended up saying “I quit” after the performances by his team artists J Paul and Kamila Kiehne, who took on Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ for their battle on ‘The Voice’.

All four coaches of the reality show praised the high-energy homage that J Paul and Kiehne paid to the 2003 pop classic by Spears, according to NBC.

Both the singers for Michael Buble’s team brought their best performances in terms of pure entertainment. J Paul brought in his silky tenor while Kamila Kiehne reached deep into her alto register for an amazing vocal performance that complimented the former’s refined R&B style, per the outlet.

Buble was aware that he was in for a challenge even before the two took the stage. He said, “This Battle might be one of, if not the, hardest for me. Kamila has a voice that really has a lot more maturity than her age.”

He added, “J Paul has one of the most polished voices in the competition… It’s really not gonna come down to who sings the best. It’s gonna be one of those feelings that I have in the moment. It’s gonna be a gut feeling!”

After their performances, Buble said, “I honestly just don’t know what to do. My hands are so sweaty!” and then joked, “You know what? Actually, no — I quit!”

The host Carson Daly humorously brought Buble back on track with a playful tease and said, “Don’t make me call Blake!”

He said, “Like a young, really handsome, proud dad. Kamila, I mean, wow — you came out here and just crushed it! And J Paul, vocally, you have all the ability in the world.”

Buble ultimately chose J Paul as his vocal skills gave him the edge over the 17-year-old Kiehne. J Paul proceeded to knockouts and Kiehne was sent home.

‘The Masked Singer’ Renewed For Season 14 To Start In January As Fox Eschews Fall 2025 Run

'The Masked Singer' renewed Season 14; January 2026 premiere
    ‘The Masked Singer’ Michael Becker/Fox

EXCLUSIVEThe Masked Singer has been renewed after producing an incredible 13 seasons and more than 170 episodes since it launched on Fox in January 2019.

This included a number of seasons produced under strict Covid protocols with the music competition guessing game, which has aired one season at the start of the year and one in the fall, never missing a run throughout the pandemic.

However, Deadline understands that this is about to change with the show eschewing its traditional fall 2025 season and planning to return for Season 14 in January.

The news comes as the Season 13 finale is set to air tonight. This season has featured the likes of Cedric the Entertainer, Oscar De La Hoya, Aubrey O’Day, Scheana Shay, Flavor Flav, James Van Der Beek, Candace Cameron Bure, Method Man, Erika Jayne, Matthew Lawrence and Edwin McCain. Four celebrities have yet to be unmasked – those performing as Boogie Woogie, Coral, Mad Scientist Monster and Pearl.

The move makes sense to keep the format, which is based on MBC’s Korean series King of Mask Singer, fresh as it moves into middle age. It likely will be easier to eventize the show and score higher-profile celebrities to appear.

However, Deadline understands that this is not a permanent move and The Masked Singer is likely to be back on air twice a year in the future.

Fox likes to launch shows in January. This year it debuted its new Denis Leary-fronted comedy Going Dutch and medical drama Doc, both of which have been renewed for second seasons, and premiered new dramas such as The Cleaning Lady, Alert: Missing Persons Unit and Accused at the start of the year. Unscripted shows such as Lego Masters, Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level Chef, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, The Floor, Name That Tune, Farmer Wants a Wife and Extracted also launched during the first 10 weeks of the year.

From left: ‘The Masked Singer’ panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Rita Ora and Ken Jeong (Fox)

The network said that it would return with a “super-charged” Season 14. “Debuting the new season in January is a strategic move to give ample runway for America’s favorite guessing game and allow us to creatively look at enhancing the show with the biggest names at the center of it,” a Fox spokeswoman told Deadline.

There are very few shows of the scale of The Masked Singer that still air two seasons a year. NBC has two seasons of The Voice per year and CBS still airs two seasons of Survivor each year, but The Amazing Race pared back to one season per year in 2016, and ABC waltzed off with only one season of Dancing with the Stars each year in 2019.

The Masked Singer has ranked among the top 10 unscripted entertainment programs in each of the six broadcast seasons it has aired among adults 18-49 (Live+7). The series is hosted by Nick Cannon with Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Rita Ora as panelists.

It is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment. Craig Plestis, who runs Smart Dog Media and founded the Korean format, exec produces alongside Cannon and Rosie Seitchik, who serves as showrunner.

America’s Got Talent‘s landmark 20th season is off to a flying start, with an incredible array of global talent already setting the stage alight and helping the series reach new heights. From the stunning Brazilian group LightWire stunning Simon Cowell and earning a much-deserved golden buzzer to one-time American Idol contestant, Jourdan Blue, getting reality show retribution and receiving a golden buzzer from Howie Mandel, Season 20 has already had a bit of everything to keep the nation entertained.

In the latest episode of the series, yet another performance has got people talking, namely that of Indian band Girish and the Chronicles, a group with just over 60,000 subscribers to their YouTube channel, a number now sure to rocket upward.

Stepping onto the America’s Got Talent stage, the band had every judge, the audience in attendance, and millions of viewers home breathless with their energetic cover of Adele’s classic “Set Fire to the Rain.” Hailing from Sikkim, India, the band traveled halfway across the world with nothing but their instruments and their talent in hand.

Girish and the Chronicles Gave One of ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 20’s Best Auditions Yet

After a brief, adrenaline-pumping chat with host Terry Crews, the band hit the stage with their style and confidence alone already drawing rapturous applause from the audience. With the band admitting they had been together for 16 years, this was clearly a huge dream, with the audition perhaps even a make-or-break moment for them; “It’s been quite some time,” the front man said.

After humbly introducing themselves, the band’s audition was thankfully anything but, with their incredible, hair metal-esque talent, led by Axl Rose-like vocals, blowing the roof off the arena as AGT turned into a professional-level rock concert.

With authentic 80s rock tackling a beloved Adele song completed to perfection, Girish and the Chronicles’ audition was complete. Now it was time for the judges to make their decision, although there was no doubt in anyone’s minds what the outcome would be. “The whole audition was on point,” Sofia Vergara said, with Mel B adding, “I think you’re one of my favorite acts so far this season.” With Mandel and Cowell adding even more gushing praise, and the latter even saying, “They [the audience] liked you. We liked you, and your voice is really, really good, by the way,” of course, the band went straight through, with Girish and the Chronicles one of the acts to watch out for in the next round.

America’s Got Talent‘s latest episode is available to stream on Peacock.

The Kelly Clarkson Show could be set to END next year amid host Kelly Clarkson does not want to renew her contract

Is The Kelly Clarkson Show Ending Next Year? The Rumors Explained

Is The Kelly Clarkson Show Ending Next Year - The Rumors Explained

The Kelly Clarkson Show could be set to end next year amid rumors that host Kelly Clarkson does not want to renew her contract. Clarkson is one of the greatest American Idol winners and shot to global fame when she won the inaugural season of the show, launching a hugely successful musical career that has spanned more than two decades. She has released 10 studio albums, selling more than 28 million records worldwide, while also transitioning into acting and becoming a TV personality.

Clarkson has hosted more than 1,000 episodes of her popular variety talk show since it first aired in 2019, but her role could be set to end at the end of this season’s run. The show has achieved acclaim for its combination of topical discussions, celebrity interviews, and musical performances. The Kelly Clarkson Show has posted strong ratings since its premiere and continues to be one of the most influential and iconic talk shows on television.

Rumors Are Circulating That Kelly Clarkson Won’t Renew Her Contract When It Ends Next Year

Nothing Is Confirmed Yet, But Speculation Suggests The Star Is Not Looking To Return

Rumors have been circulating that Clarkson is not looking to renew her contract and wants to leave the show at the end of her current deal. TV Insider reported on rumors that the singer is set to quit her role next year, with an anonymous producer quoted as saying, “No one likes the uncertainty. This feels like it could collapse any minute.” There is nothing concrete suggesting that this will happen, but the behind-the-scenes rhetoric appears to be one of apprehension.

Kelly Clarkson Judging On The Voice

The same producer was quick to confirm how highly regarded Clarkson is among the cast and crew, confirming that everyone loves her and enjoys working with her. The producer commented:

“Everyone loves Kelly. She’s a wonderful person. But maybe Hoda would be a better boss. I know she’s universally beloved and respected by her former coworkers. Maybe she would be good. She sure would be a lot more stable than what we’ve been going through. … If Kelly is unhappy, then she should move on.”

It seems that, if there is an issue, it is personal to Clarkson, and she may simply just want a break from working. There don’t seem to be any obvious overarching issues related to the star and her conduct on the show that are public knowledge, and, as the producer suggests, if Clarkson is unhappy or dissatisfied with her role, this could be a key reason behind her decision, and one causing the stress that’s been brewing behind the scenes.

Kelly Clarkson Took A 10-Episode Leave Of Absence In March

The Star Returned For The Show’s 1,000th Episode

According to Page Six, Clarkson took an almost two-week leave of absence in March to deal with a personal matter. While she returned for the show’s 1,000th episode, she made some cryptic comments that may shine a light on some of the struggles she might be facing. The “Since U Been Gone” singer gave an emotional speech in which she described herself as “lost, [and] alone, a lot” over the past six years, but did not go into details.

Kelly Clarkson sings at the Olympics, edited over a striped background with music notes.

In 2023, the show moved its production from Los Angeles to New York City. This marked a new start following Clarkson’s divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, but it appears the move has not worked out, with the star rumored to be on the verge of walking away from the show. The Kelly Clarkson Show has been renewed for a seventh season and is set to air next year, but it is unclear whether Clarkson will be involved.

Kelly Clarkson Reportedly Wants To Spend More Time With Her Kids

The Star Has Had A Grueling Schedule Since 2018

Is The Kelly Clarkson Show Ending Next Year - The Rumors Explained_2

While it is unconfirmed exactly why there are rumors Clarkson is looking to depart, one major idea could be her desire to spend more time with her children. A source told Page Six, “Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be… The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.” Following the star’s 2023 divorce, it makes sense that she would want to spend more time with her children, especially since they are still relatively young.

Kelly Clarkson The Kelly Clarkson Show

Hosting a popular daytime talk show such as The Kelly Clarkson Show is high-intensity and time-consuming. With 180 episodes each season to date (except season 4), there’s a good chance that Clarkson has been working flat out since the show debuted. Furthermore, Clarkson had a highly successful stint as a judge on The Voice before hosting her show, so she has likely been working nonstop since 2018. This is a lot of work and a lot of time away from her family, so understandably, she might be looking to take a break in the near future.

Hoda Kotb Is Being Rumored As A Possible Replacement In Clarkson’s Timeslot

The Former Today Co-Anchor Could Step In As Clarkson’s Successor

    HODA KOTB

There have also been rumors about what might happen if Clarkson decides to step away from the show and what this would mean for the future. There’s a possibility it could signify the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show. However, there is also a chance the show will continue with a different host, and the show will carry on under a new name. Hoda Kotb, who recently retired as co-anchor of Today, is someone who has been rumored as a possible replacement.

If this ultimately does happen, it’s unclear if Kotb would take over as host, or just take the timeslot, and host The Hoda Kotb Show, or whatever the name winds up being. Of course, all this will depend on Clarkson, as it feels highly likely NBC will pull out the stops to try to retain her and might even be willing to make concessions to keep the star happy. For now, the future of The Kelly Clarkson Show remains unclear, and if the rumors are true, the host could be heading into her final year, so it will be interesting to see what the coming months will bring.

The game show is also moving to a different night after five seasons. This will be the first time Seacrest hosts the celebrity version as Pat Sajak spun the wheel one last time on Season 5. His last season premiered on Wednesday, April 30.

On the premiere, Pat Sajak poked fun at himself by joking about him retiring and then coming back for one last season. “Now let me explain something. I was going to be one of the celebrities playing this season. Unfortunately, our casting folks found a lot of funnier people, so I’m back to hosting. It’s been a while but it’s like riding a bike except I don’t have to wear spandex,” he said.

Ryan Seacrest Admits Feeling ‘Tremendous’ Pressure Taking Over ‘Wheel of Fortune’

As the 42nd season of “Wheel of Fortune” comes to a close on June 6, 2025, it will mark the end of Ryan Seacrest’s first season as host of the beloved game show. The longtime “American Idol” host took over for Pat Sajak in September, but the transition was far from easy.

In an interview with Los Angeles station ABC7 on June 3, Seacrest admitted that he felt a “tremendous amount of pressure” taking over the iconic show and still doesn’t feel fully comfortable after taping 195 episodes.

Ryan Seacrest Says He’s Thrilled Fans Have Continued to Watch ‘Wheel of Fortune’

“Wheel of Fortune” legend Vanna White told ABC7 that the transition from co-starring with Sajak to Seacrest has been “seamless” and that he “makes it look easy.”

But Seacrest said uneasily, “Most of the time. I still have to remember what I’m doing out there.”

“Let me be honest,” he told the outlet. “There was a tremendous amount of pressure that I felt coming into this. It’s been built with Pat and Vanna for so many years, I just wanted people to feel comfortable and watch, and if we got a few more along the way, then bonus round, right? I’m thrilled that the loyal audience has accepted what we get to do together.”

Seacrest’s debut on the show was a slam dunk, according to Variety, which reported that it was “most-watched entertainment series in September across broadcast, cable and syndication.” By January, the Los Angeles Times had called Seacrest “ratings gold” on the game show. In March, “WOF” moved to second place behind “Jeopardy,” according to the U.S. Sun, but was still bringing in even more viewers than it did in September.

Ryan Seacrest Says Sometimes He & Vanna White Can ‘Read Each Others’ Minds’

Among Seacrest’s fans is White, who told ABC7, “This whole season, I have been smiling from day one. He’s so easy to work with. He’s fun. He’s easygoing and he makes my job easy. You come to work and you make people happy. What could be better?”

Seacrest also acknowledged that he’s relieved he and White are comfortable enough with each other that they can ad-lib during the show, telling the outlet, “”We don’t often know what we’re going to say at the end of the show. It’s 3-2-1 go! For me, that makes it fun and I think we get genuine laughter out of each other. We got to this stage, where at times we can read each other’s minds.”

In April, White told TV Insider that she felt Seacrest came into the show with the best attitude, knowing he could never truly replace Sajak.

“Ryan did his homework,” White she said. “He rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed. He also said to me, ‘I am not replacing Pat Sajak because no one could – ever. I am just stepping in.’ That made me feel good because, as Ryan said, he’s just stepping in – he’s not trying to prove anything.”

Seacrest and White will both return for season 43 of “Wheel of Fortune,” likely to start filming this summer. And although his return is not official, Seacrest is expected to host his 24th season of “American Idol” in early 2026.

TV Insider reported that Seacrest and White discussed working together on Wheel of Fortune during a June 2 interview on ABC7. During the interview, White noted that Seacrest started hosting the show after Pat Sajak, 78, retired in 2024. According to White, Seacrest and Sajak are quite different.

“Everybody’s different, right? It’s completely different,” said White during the interview.

She also said she did not have any issue with the transition of Seacrest becoming the show’s host.

    “It’s seamless!” said White.

Seacrest then clarified hosting the game show, which premiered in 1975, isn’t all that easy for him.

“I still have to remember what I’m doing out there,” said Seacrest.

White then interjected that Seacrest “make[s] it look easy.” White, who began starring on Wheel of Fortune in 1982, also shared she has enjoyed working alongside Seacrest.

“He’s so easy to work with. He’s fun. He’s easygoing and he makes my job easy. You come to work and you make people happy. What could be better?” said White during the interview.

After Sajak’s retirement, White filmed a farewell message for him, which was uploaded on the official Wheel of Fortune YouTube channel in June 2024.

“I don’t know how to put into words what these last 41 years have meant to me. But I’m going to try,” said an emotional White.

She said that Sajak helped her feel more confident when she first joined the show.

“You made me who I am. You really did,” said White in the video.

In addition, she said that she and Sajak were close “outside the studio.”

“We’ve watched our children grow up together. We’ve traveled all over the world. We’ve eaten hundreds of meals together. We’ve laughed. We’ve cried. We’ve celebrated. What an incredible and unforgettable journey we’ve had. And I’ve enjoyed every single minute of it with you,” said White tearfully.
