Last Man Standing and Home Improvement actor Tim Allen is gearing up to lead an all-new ABC comedy as the network has ordered a pilot for a multi-camera sitcom.

The pilot tentatively titled Shifting Gears comes from Duncanville cocreators Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Sully, yubi who executive produced Last Man Standing with Allen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina, according to Deadline. Written by the Scullys, the series would center around Allen’s character Matt, described as a stubborn widower who owns a classic car shop.

When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration will begin though. As mentioned above, this would be Allen’s latest team-up with the Scullys, after he led the comedy Last Man Standing for nine seasons.

Last Man Standing first began in 2011, airing for six seasons on ABC until 2017 when it was ultimately canceled. The show found new life on Fox, where it aired Seasons 7 through 9.

Shifting Gears would mark Allen’s return to ABC for the first time in almost 10 years. He previously led Home Improvement on the network as well, with that comedy airing for eight seasons between 1991 and 1999.

Currently, Allen stars in Disney+‘s sequel series The Santa Clauses, which is a follow-up to his Santa Clause film franchise. Could this new series impact The Santa Clauses?  The show has already aired two seasons on the streamer, but word on a third has yet to be revealed as fans await a renewal.

While viewers will have to wait and see how things play out, this is the first pilot order for ABC this season. Stay tuned for potential updates around the pilot as we await a possible series order for the comedy. And let us know if you’d tune in for Shifting Gears if it’s ordered by ABC in the comments section, below.

  • “CBS This Morning” Undergoes Seismic Shift: Veteran Viewers Grapple with Unprecedented Format Overhaul, Raising Questions About Network Strategy and the Future of Morning News

“CBS This Morning” Undergoes Seismic Shift: Veteran Viewers Grapple with Unprecedented Format Overhaul, Raising Questions About Network Strategy and the Future of Morning News

CBS is changing the name, look and sound of ‘CBS This Morning’

When CBS News relocates its morning newscast to Times Square, the show is getting yet another makeover with a new name and on air updates that incorporate the looks and sounds of the network’s iconic “Sunday Morning” broadcast — all in an effort to make every morning more consistent.

The show, currently known as “CBS This Morning,” will become “CBS Mornings,” starting Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, the day after Labor Day.

The show is getting a new (to it) logo that incorporates the sun icon used for years on “Sunday Morning” — as well a new orange and white color scheme done in the flatter style CBS is moving toward.

The new show logo is set in TT Norms, the font being used across the ViacomCBS empire, including replacing Didot in the CBS News logo.

A familiar theme song will also begin playing on the network six days a week: “CBS Mornings” will switch to the “Sunday Morning” theme, a trumpet fanfare performed by Wynton Marsalis based on the piece “Abblasen,” a piece attributed to Gottfried Reiche, who lived during the 1660s and 1730s.

CBS worked with Jack Morton Worldwide, under the direction of Creative Director Renee Cullen, to refresh the set it built on the second floor Times Square studio for the network’s 2020 election coverage.

Changes included switching out some of the metallic wall finishes with wood tones and updates to the floors to feature simulated white, wide plank wood flooring with blonde wood overlays.

Based on photos released by CBS, the updated set retains the circular anchor desk found at its existing set at the CBS Broadcast Center, but with a backlit center accented with vertical blonde wood elements.

The CBS eye logo is not longer “etched” into the glass — but rather is created using wood and metallic toned materials.

Behind the primary anchor area is a large LED video wall topped with video ribbons — with the option to feed a virtual set extension that creates the illusion of a curved backed of “windows” behind the anchor desk — with oversized CBS eye and sun “etchings.”

The photos don’t clearly indicate if the windows overlooking Times Square will be used — they were covered during election broadcasts — but it also seems it would easy to flip the anchors to the opposite side of the circular desk to shoot them against the sprawling Times Square backdrop (CBS’s logo has the advantage of being able to “read” correctly from either direction).

Promotional clips also indicate that some of the on-set work areas built for election coverage may remain, a feature leftover from the old home at Studio 57. There’s also a brief glimpse at what appears to be a white faux exposed brick wall installed camera left of the main area, perhaps an effort to carry over some of that look for the old set.

One side features an alcove that was originally designed as a standup location for exit polling on election night. It is now set up with sofas and a coffee table, though it’s not clear if this is meant as the on camera green room that “CTM” had in Studio 57 or will be used on air for interviews — or perhaps both.

By renaming “CBS This Morning,” this will mark the second time the network has abandoned the name for its morning show. It was originally used from 1987 to 1999, when the show rebranded as “The Early Show” and began broadcasting from a windowed studio in the General Motors building in NYC.

In 2012, the network announced it would switch back to the “CBS This Morning” name.

Part of the strategy with the name change is to better connect the weekday morning show with the stalwart “Sunday Morning” show that’s been on the air since 1979.

To reinforce that branding, “CBS This Morning Saturday” will be renamed “CBS Saturday Morning.”

“The three morning broadcasts will share a similar look and editorial breadth,” reads the announcement.

“All CBS News morning broadcasts will now be part of the same family, with a focus on original reporting and exquisite storytelling, connected by the sound of the iconic trumpet music and an ethos of optimism that carries all the way through to the sunshine logo itself,” said Neeraj Khemlani, president co-head of CBS News and stations in a statement. “We’re adding a little bit of ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ – every morning – on ‘CBS Mornings.’”

CBS also noted that it will add expanded feature reporting in the second hour of the show, while sticking with a more hard news focus for the first hour.

CBS used a similar branding approach from 1980 to 1982, yubi when Charles Kuralt, who hosted “Sunday Morning” at the time, was brought to the weekday program in attempt to boost ratings. This format too used many of the same on air elements.

The changes also come with a new anchor joining the weekday team — Nate Burleson, a CBS Sports analyst and former NFLer, who is being brought in to replace Anthony Mason, who is expected to contribute “culture” reports to the show.

Jane Pauley will remain host of “Sunday Morning” while Jeff Glor, Dana Jacobson and Michelle Miller will continue to host the renamed Saturday edition.

CBS already airs a program called “CBS Morning News” as an early morning offering to affiliates, who typically air it right before their local morning newscasts. It frequently airs immediately follow “CBS Overnight News,” which, as its name implies, is the network’s nightside news broadcast, consisting largely of repeats of segments from “Evening News” mixed in with original anchor blocks.

Adam Levine Feared 1 Song Would End His Career

Adam Levine once worried that one of his band’s biggest hits could have ended his career. During an April 2025 interview on The Howard Stern Show, the Maroon 5 frontman admitted that he didn’t want to record the 2011 song “Moves Like Jagger” after music producer Benny Blanco approached him with the lyrics.

Adam Levine Feared 1 Song Would End His Career

“Benny came to us. He knew our manager,” Levine told Stern in the interview. “He brought me a song. It was funny because I was like, ‘Man, this motherf—— song is either a career ender, or it’s the biggest f—— thing on the planet. I don’t know.’”

Levine explained that while the original song had a very Maroon 5-like guitar riff, the song was originally written from the perspective of a female. “It was supposed to be like ‘He got the moves like Jagger,’” Levine recalled of the song that compared a man’s moves to Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger.

Levine said he decided to change the lyrics around to make it work for his band. “They played me the song and I was, ‘I guess I could say, I got the moves like Jagger’ — and the whole room gasped,” he recalled.

“It was a huge swing, but we did it and, you know, the rest is history,” he added of the song’s makeover.

Levine noted that even his version of the song felt like a “no” at first. “But then it’s like this delicious piece of candy. Once you hear it a few times, you’re like, ‘OK, let’s just have fun, This is such a great, f—— song, who cares,’” he told Stern.

In August 2011, “Moves Like Jagger,” which featured Christina Aguilera, soared to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Levine previously shared the backstory on “Moves Like Jagger” in an interview on The Roots podcast with Questlove Supreme. He admitted that the song “kind of just fell” into his band’s lap.

“It was meant for like a female artist to sing about a guy, he’s like he got them moves,” he said. “And nobody wanted to touch it. … I think even maybe it was pitched to like Janelle Monáe. I know that sounds crazy. She obviously didn’t want to do it.”

    Q&A: Adam Levine

While the song turned out to be a smart move for Maroon 5, in 2025, the band got an extra treat when Jagger himself was filmed dancing to it. Levine appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon after a video of the rock legend dancing to a cover version of the song at a bar surfaced on social media.

“It’s really surreal,” Levine said of the Mick Jagger moment. “How is it possible this is happening? I never wanted to be the bar band covering it more in my life!”

Everything You Need to Know About “The Voice”

Adam Levine may be busy with his return to The Voice, but he’s also making a comeback with music of his own.

The singer is famous for being the frontman for the hit band Maroon 5, and the last time the group released new music was in 2023 with their song “Middle Ground.” Well, with Adam being a coach on The Voice season 27, one would think he may not have time to work on personal projects.

On the contrary, it turns out he has a lot in the works in the music department, and he shared some surprising clues about what he’s working on next after the current season of the NBC series wraps up.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 7, host Jimmy Fallon grilled Adam on whether Maroon 5 had any plans to release new music in the future. Not only did Adam have an answer for this, but he shared that there’s plenty in the works.

“There’s rumors of a new Maroon 5 song. There’s been rumors of maybe a new album,” Jimmy began in a clip posted on Instagram. “There’s been rumors of a tour, and yet I’ve heard nothing.”

“I’m gonna confirm the rumors are true,” Adam revealed in response. “It’s true! The rumors are correct.”

Well, isn’t this exciting news? But Adam wasn’t done sharing all the fun things in store for Maroon 5. With a new song debuting sometime in April, he also announced a new album and a live tour would be happening later this year.

“I cannot divulge all the details, but the details are, basically, roughly, there’s a song coming, a single coming at the end of the month-ish,” he added. “I’m really excited about it. Album is coming over the summer. Non-specifically, around the summertime. And then even more non-specifically, there is a tour coming in the fall-ish.”

“This is exactly the non-specific things that I needed!” Jimmy replied in jest.

Just like Jimmy, other Adam fans were ecstatic about the next phase in his career after The Voice.

“So hype for new M5 music!!” one person wrote in the YouTube comments. “THE LEGENDS ARE BACK,” another exclaimed. “We’re so excited for the coming album ,” a different follower added.

Even though it’s only a matter of time before new Maroon 5 music comes out, we also can’t wait to see how Adam fares in the last weeks of The Voice season 27.

Kelsea Ballerini has tricks up her sleeve!

On Monday, April 14, the country star used her final steal on The Voice to pull Darius J from Team Adam — and she couldn’t be happier about it.

“I have been waiting for this for so long,” Ballerini, 31, screamed after she hit her steal button.

“I think Darius is so special. He has this certainty about him and this joy, quirkiness. I don’t think I have anyone on my beat on that level of full-encompassing performer. I fought so hard for Darius since the jump,” she continued.

Then, a video flashed back to his blind audition, where Ballerini pleaded to have him on her team.

“You are such an artist and my gut is telling me that I can do this with you,” she said.

Back to her one-on-one interview, the “Baggage” singer said happily, “I finally got him… I am so giddy to work with Darius J in the playoffs.”

Darius J was up against Conor James in the knockouts and performed a cover of Estelle’s “American Boy.”

During the feedback portion, Adam Levine complimented his energy and stage presence.

“Darius, first of all, really great job turning this into a more high energy performance. That’s a hard thing to do. You definitely accomplished that today. Congratulations man,” said the Maroon 5 frontman, 46.

Meanwhile, with James, who performed “Forever Young” by Alphaville, Levine complimented him for singing “a very difficult song.”

“You sung the crap out of it,” he said before adding, “Between your voice and Darius your showmanship… honestly this knockout round felt like you were both finalists.”

Before Levine made his decision, he said he “had a feeling” the universe would “do as it should” and chose James.

“The possibilities are kind of limitless with Conor. That dude can just sing like very few people can. Just soulfulness. I want to lean into that even more. He’s going to be around a while,” he said.

After the episode aired, Darius shared a black-and-white photo wearing his Team Adam sweatshirt — and holding his new Tecovas boots from Ballerini on Instagram.

“’One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you ‘ 👢👢👢👢 #TEAMKELSEY,” he captioned the post.

‘The Voice’: Kelsea Ballerini Makes Confession About Boyfriend Chase Stokes During Knockouts

    Kelsea Ballerini
    The Voice YouTube

The Voice coach Kelsea Ballerini couldn’t help thinking about her boyfriend Chase Stokes during the show’s latest round of Knockouts, joking that she wanted to “go home and make out” with him.

Ballerini’s comments came after a spellbinding performance from Team John Legend‘s Olivia Kuper Harris, who was paired up against fellow Team Legend member Jacquelyn George. For her performance, Kuper Harris sang Donna Summer’s “Last Dance,” which had Ballerini feeling a certain way.

“Olivia, that first part made me want to go home and make out with my boyfriend,” she quipped, referencing the Outer Banks actor. “It was so strong and sexy, and then you got up and showed a playful side. As Adam [Levine] would say in very caveman terms, ‘Big time wow.’”

Ballerini and Stokes confirmed their relationship in February 2023. In January, the country star took to Instagram to mark two years together, sharing a slideshow of photos and writing, “Two years of catching each other in countless cities, perfecting a chimichurri steak, and creating a world that revolves around dogs. love you so, teammate.”

The “Cowboys Cry Too” singer wasn’t the only one obsessed with Kuper Harris’ performance. Fellow coaches Levine and Michael Bublé also praised the performance, while Legend ultimately selected Kuper Harris to move on over George.

“She nailed it with style, with control and when she leans into that jazzy tone, it’s really special and there’s really no one else like her in the competition,” Legend said.

Elsewhere on Monday’s (April 14) show, Team Legend’s Nell Simmons faced off against Renzo in a fierce showdown. Simmons sang “Sweet Thing” by Chaka Khan, while Renzo performed Happier Than Ever” by Billie Eilish. In the end, Legend picked Renzo to advance in the competition.

“Nell, everyone was moved by her performance, but the problem is she went up against Renzo, and he’s genre-defying, boundary-defying. Because he’s so different, I had to pick Renzo,” Legend explained.

Carlos Santiago and Adam David went head-to-head for Team Bublé, with Santiago performing “You Are the Reason” by Callum Scott and David singing “Unaware” by Allen Stone. Ultimately, Bublé chose David to continue on.

Bublé noted, “Carlos is a great singer but Adam for me is the best artist. He knows who he wants to be. He has a really soulful voice, great dexterity, power, and pitch. Can’t wait to see what my Adam does in the Playoffs.”

For Team Kelsea, Hailey Wright faced off against Jaelen Johnston, with Wright singing “I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart” by Patsy Montana and Johnston performing “Dial Drunk” by Noah Kahan. While it was a tough decision, Ballerini ultimately decided Johnston was the victor.

“Hailey, since the Battles, there was so much growth, but Jaelen has this traditional-leaning voice with that storytelling element and it feels not dissimilar to what we’re hearing on country radio right now. I think he’s a dark horse in this competition,” Ballerini stated.

Team Bublé’s Jadyn Cree also advanced over Kameron Jaso, while Team Adam’s Conor James won out over Darius Jay. However, Ballerini swooped in with her Steal to add Jay to her team.

“I have been waiting for this for so long. I think Darius is so special,” she said. “He has this certainty about him and this joy and quirkiness. I don’t think I have anyone on my team at that level of full-encompassing performer. I fought so hard for Darius since the jump and I finally got him on my team. I am so giddy to work with Darius Jay in the Playoffs.”

Those advancing to the Playoffs are Adam David, Conor James, Darius Jay (Steal), Jaelen Johnston, Jadyn Cree, Olivia Kuper Harris, and Renzo.

Kelsea Ballerini Baffled Over Request to Sign Unexpected Item: ‘Is This Legal?’

Kelsea Ballerini is no stranger to unusual requests from fans, but the legality of her latest autograph request had the “Penthouse” songstress concerned.

In a video from a recent concert uploaded to TikTok over the weekend, the musician could be seen engaging with fans in the part of the audience closer to the stage. Members of the crowd often hold up signs for Ballerini to read out loud, with one fan requesting she sign their divorce decree in this instance.

“Will you help me finish rolling up my welcome mat,” the sign began, quoting lyrics from the aforementioned track, “and sign my divorce decree?”

“Oh my God,” Ballerini replied, clearly a little stunned, later calling herself “overstimulated.”

“I would be honored?” she asked, more than said, as she seemed to agree, but she quickly backtracked. “Wait, to be clear, this is not your divorce papers.”

“What does this mean, I’m a witness?” she continued, realizing they were before quickly adding, “Oh, I’m sweating. I’m gonna pass out for sure.”

“Is this legal?” she continued. “I’m so scared.”

When all was said and done, the singer elected not to sign the documents, after going back and forth about whether or not it was “allowed.” In addition to her lack of understanding over the legal implications of adding her signature, she chose to leave her status as “the poster child for divorce” behind.

The fan didn’t seem bothered by her decision, especially as she added, “But I’m really happy for you and I’m sorry that you went through that.” She also wrote “a little letter” on the back to make up for it.

She wore a bright blue bodysuit, making her stand out in a sea of technical black t-shirts, so it was impossible to miss when she spun in a circle on the edge of the hydraulic lift as it began to rise and immediately lost her footing, tumbling to the ground.

Many were impressed with her ability to “turn any mistake into a masterpiece” as she barely missed a beat, continuing to sing from beneath the lift and incorporating some dramatic choreography for comedic relief, but others were concerned for the performer.

“girl are you okay???” one fan captioned another video of the moment.

“Not a single person went to help her???” someone else asked in shock, while another mourned, “That looked like it hurt. I’d definitely have a bruise.”

“I have so much respect for performers because I’d cut the show and leave the country and change my identity and they are always able to just roll with it,” someone else wrote in awe, with plenty of others impressed with the way she “played off a mishap quicker than they had time to react.”

“That’s our girl Fallerini 👏,” someone else joked.

The Price is Right host Drew Carey has opened up about how his substantial weight loss, which was initially driven by fear, has transformed his life for the better.

In 2010, the comedian’s doctor told him that his diet and lifestyle choices were causing him to live on borrowed time.

Carey said his doctor stated: “If you don’t do something, your life’s going to be shorter, and you’ll have these bad things to look forward to,” People reports.

The game show host added: “I would go out to Swingers diner after The Price Is Right my first year, get a plate of pasta, a cupcake and iced tea with a bunch of lemons.”

“Then I’d go home, have Doritos and several Pepsis, and take an Ambien to go to sleep. It was miserable to live like that.”

Carey, who jokes he’s lost “1,000 pounds over my whole life,” cut out carbs and consistently exercises in 45-minute intervals several times per week, resulting in his type 2 diabetes reversing and the ability to maintain his 80 lb weight loss.

The Hollywood game show staple, who previously hosted the improvisational show Whose Line Is It Anyway, also touched on the mental benefits he’s experiencing from his transformation.

He said: “I like the energy I have now, I like how I feel, and I like the lucidity I have in my thoughts.

“It’s just a better attitude all the way around. That’s part of my happiness now, is being able to look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh, I like my haircut, I like my face, I like the way I’m dressed, and I look good in this,” Daily Mail reports.

He added: “I don’t have to sit in a corner or apologize to myself in my head when I’m talking to somebody, you know what I mean? All these things you do when you’re overweight, or you think something’s wrong with you.”

The Price Is Right is in its 52nd season after premiering in 1972.

Carey has hosted the show since 2007, replacing the program’s previous long-running host, Bob Barker.
