Fox News’ Kat Timpf confirms when she’s coming back to TV after new baby & surgery as colleague cries ‘can’t miss this!’

FOX News host Kat Timpf has confirmed when she’ll be back on TV after taking time off to care for her new baby and undergo cancer treatment.

Timpf, 36, went on maternity leave in February after giving birth to a baby boy and receiving a scary breast cancer diagnosis.

The host, known for being on the panel of Greg Gutfeld’s late-night show, will reunite with Gutfeld in a new reality show that can be streamed on Fox News’ streaming service, Fox Nation.

In the new show, Timpf will join Gutfeld as they host an epic showdown of four contestants who were completely cut off from the outside world.

A press release for the show, What Did I Miss?, explains that from January 20 to April 13, four contestants were in complete isolation in Upstate, New York.

The four contestants had no access to their phones, internet, television, or social media.

Now that they’re out of isolation, the contestants will compete against each other to figure out what happened during the first 90 days of the Trump administration.

Each contestant will be presented with different scenarios, and it’s up to them to decide what is fact and fiction.

The contestants will be put to the test in front of a live audience for the chance to win $500,000.

Gutfeld will be the lead host of the show with Timpf and Jamie Lissow sitting on the panel.

Timpf confirmed her return with a post on X.

The new mother quoted Gutfeld’s post announcing the show and wrote: “V excited for this I’m on the panel w my weird little friend @jamie_lissow.”

Fox News host Kat Timpf forced to shut down gross death rumors as she’s targeted by trolls posting about her newborn
The first episode will air on May 12, followed by two more on May 13 and 14.

“Truth can be stranger than fiction and who better to help isolated Americans catch up on the headlines they missed during an unprecedented news cycle than Greg Gutfeld,” FOX Nation President Lauren Petterson said in a statement.

“We are excited for FOX Nation subscribers to have exclusive access to America’s most-watched late night host’s game show debut as he informs contestants about what really happened while they were completely off the grid and isolated from the outside world.”

    KAT’S COMEBACK

Timpf’s return follows a lengthy post she wrote on X describing her hectic day giving birth and finding out she had breast cancer.

On February 25, the host wrote: “Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world.

“About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”

Everything to know about ‘What Did I Miss?’

Where to watch: Stream on Fox Nation
    When: May 12, 13, 14
    Summary:

Four contestants were in complete isolation from January 20 to April 13 with no phones, internet, television, or social media. Upon their return to society, the contestants compete in an epic showdown as they are tasked with figuring out what actually happened during their seclusion. Gutfeld will present dozens of scenarios, and the contestants must separate real headlines from fake ones. With a prize of $50,000 on the line, their instincts and senses of humor will be put to the test in front of a live audience and a panel featuring Gutfeld! regulars Kat Timpf and Jamie Lissow.

She titled the seven-paragraph-long post, “An Unconventional Birth Announcement.”

In the post, she assures followers that her doctor said she was at “Stage 0,” meaning the cancer most likely did not spread.

Only hours after finding out about her diagnosis, Timpf gave birth to her son.

“I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she wrote.

“I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.”

Fans were overjoyed to hear the news of Timpf’s return, with many rushing to her recent post to welcome her back.

“Can’t wait to see your smiling face! We’ve missed you so much,” one follower wrote.

    Kat Timpf’s full statement

    An Unconventional Birth Announcement

Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Now, before you worry, my doctor says it’s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread.  Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: Don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer.

Still, it was not a chill day. I mean, to say the least! I woke up more-than-a-week-past-due pregnant, completely consumed by doing everything I could to get the baby out. By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out. I sat and listened as they told me that the best course of action would likely be a double mastectomy as soon as possible. I asked all the questions I could, including if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the ultrasound of my baby. Finally, by the middle of the night, I was crawling around on the floor of my apartment in spontaneous labor, before heading to the hospital to meet my baby, whom I’d learn at the time of birth was a son.

The good news? People who work at hospitals make excellent audiences for dark humor — and, as someone whose first book was about the power of jokes to get through traumatic situations, there was really no better place for me to be. Just minutes after my boy was born, I was talking with the nurses about what a birth announcement in my situation might look like.

Should I go with “Mom and baby are doing well, except maybe for mom’s cancer, and then maybe the baby after breastfeeding is stunted by her double mastectomy,” and then shut off my phone for a week?

Anyway! These next three months of maternity leave are going to look a lot different than I’d anticipated, and I’m still getting used to my new reality. Still, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I’m learning to celebrate everything I can. I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom. I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.

Thank you all for your support, laughter, and love as I embrace this wildly unexpected chapter. Here’s to resilience, to miracles in the midst of chaos, and to finding humor and hope even on the toughest days.

    Kat

“Hope things are going well with your treatment and recovery. Also, can’t wait to hear all about your sweet baby boy. I bet he’s the cutest ever!”

Dozens of comments echoed the fan’s excitement, with many wishing her and her family well.

“Can’t wait! Miss you! Been praying for you and baby! Gutfeld needs you back but subs are doing great too,” another fan wrote.

“I was just looking online again to find an update on you! Thank you for the update! God bless you and family!

Vanna teamed it with a leather skirt and added a chunky belt with an oversized buckle to complete the stylish outfit.

Meanwhile Ryan, 50, was dapper as always in a check and navy shirt, which was unbuttoned to slightly flash his chest.

Vanna – who made her Wheel Of Fortune debut in 1982 – sparked a huge reaction with her new look, with fans rushing to social media to comment.

One wrote: “I LOVE this look. She looks amazing! I enjoy the fancy ball gowns of the past years, but switching it up with a fun outfit like this is good too.”

But others were less convinced, speculating that show bosses are styling Vanna “younger” after Ryan joined the show last year.

Someone speculated: “She has changed up her outfits – I think in response to Ryan being younger. It’s for the better. She looks fantastic.”

Another said: “I like it. I feel like they are trying to dress her a little younger/hipper to more match Ryan’s style.”

And one fan added: “Just trying to appeal to younger viewers which is a good thing.”

Earlier this month Vanna revealed she only has to work 34 days a year to earn her reported $10million salary.

In a chat with Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, she said: “We film about 34 days a year.

Jeopardy! champ Mike Dawson’s winning streak comes to sad end – then he reveals bad news that leaves fans ‘heartbroken’

JEOPARDY! champ Mike Dawson’s winning streak has sadly ended, but he revealed even more bad news when speaking to fans after Wednesday night’s game.

The technology manager from Portland, Oregon, 43, ended the game in third place with a mere $2 to his name.

New contestant Andrew Hayes from Tupelo, Mississippi came out on top over Mike and Courtney Martin from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, with a whopping $25,200 after completely dominating the April 9 game.

So after a three-game winning streak and $57,000, Mike’s reign came to an end.

Jeopardy! fans were disappointed by the charismatic 6′ 7″ star’s loss, but were even more sad to hear his current news.

“I had been working in tech-focused roles for international nonprofits in the aid and development sector for more than a decade, when just a few weeks before taping, my job and the jobs of thousands of my then-current and former colleagues all disappeared overnight with the elimination of USAID,” Mike said on Reddit.

“I’ll forgo getting into the politics of it all, despite the sudden loss of my career being inherently political, but I’m incredibly grateful to have my Jeopardy winnings to help carry me through this transitionary period.”

    SUPPORT FOR MIKE

Viewers immediately commented with support for their new favorite player.

“I enjoyed your run on Jeopardy and I am distressed at your current position in life. I wish you all the best,” one said.

“I’m heartbroken for you Mike. You were incredible and so fascinating to watch,” another responded.

“My deepest condolences, and congrats on your spectacular play despite the circumstances,” chimed in a third. “At least you’ll have something great to put on your resume!”

Other fans commended Mike for his “calm” demeanor under the intense pressure of the game.

“I guess I managed to dial in the optimal ratio of Xanax to caffeine that morning,” Mike quipped.

    Jeopardy! Set Secrets

Jeopardy! fans don’t see everything behind the scenes from watching on TV. These hidden set features make the show run smoothly:

Each podium has a hidden riser so that all contestants appear to be the same height.
After each clue is read, signal lights go off around the game board, indicating players can buzz in and respond.
Buzz in too early, and you’re locked out for .25 seconds.
The podiums have a small white light in the lower left corner, which tells Ken Jennings who goes next.
Contrary to popular belief, the player with control doesn’t have a buzzer advantage on the next clue.
To the game board’s left is a scoreboard so the players can see their opponents’ scores.
All contestants must bring three outfits to the studio, but only the host and returning champion change for the next episode.
There are wardrobe rules, including restrictions on busy patterns, solid white, purple (like the background), and logos.
Five episodes are taped in a single day, and sometimes more.
The categories, players (aside from the returning champion), and Final Jeopardy! for a tape day are all drawn randomly to ensure fairness.
Female contestants are asked not to wear makeup, which is applied backstage, and don’t wear mascara because of sweat.
Contestants fill out a questionnaire, and producers select five Q&A topics for the host.
Host Ken isn’t allowed to interact with the contestants until after the game.
Players can request to sit in a chair while competing without question.

    JEOPARDY! ON TOP

As The U.S. Sun exclusively reported, Jeopardy! has been winning the ratings game with longtime rival Wheel of Fortune.

For the week of March 3, Jeopardy! had 8,902,000 viewers watching the show, according to Nielsen.

Wheel of Fortune was in the number two spot with 8,477,000 viewers.

In September, Wheel of Fortune with brand-new host Ryan Seacrest was in the lead, with one million more viewers than Jeopardy!.

  • ‘The View’ fans are furious about the show’s abrupt CANCELLATION. Here’s when it will be BACK on air

‘The View’ fans are furious about the show’s abrupt CANCELLATION. Here’s when it will be BACK on air

Why Isn’t ‘The View’ New & When Will Live Episodes Return?

    The VIew
    ABC

Don’t adjust your TV. Yes, you did see that episode of The View already.

This week, the ABC talk show is airing reruns all week long — from Monday, April 14, through Friday, April 18 — instead of live new episodes.

Sure, there are plenty of new “Hot Topics” for cohosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin to dig into this week, but the show is on a temporary hiatus, so it’ll have to wait.

Instead of new episodes, The View will air five encore episodes during its usual 11 a.m. ET hour on ABC.

What repeat episodes are airing this week?

For Monday’s (April 14) airing, the network is reairing the March 13 episode, which featured journalist Kara Swisher and music icon Donny Osmond promoting his Las Vegas residency (and revealing exactly when he’ll retire from his lifelong career in showbusiness). It’s also the episode when Goldberg had a little something to say to those critics who’ve called for the show to be canceled, so count on some fireworks.

Why 'The View' isn't on this week and when new episodes return

Tuesday’s (April 15) slot will feature a repeat of the March 6 show with Mindy Kaling promoting Running Point and a performance of the women of Disney on Broadway. The episode memorably featured a discussion of Behar’s aversion to being friends with Trump supporters.

Then, on Wednesday (April 16), The View‘s March 4 episode will air. This one featured ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith slamming Democrats and former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre talking about working with Joe Biden. (This one, too, features a lively diatribe from Goldberg.)

Thursday’s (April 17) rerun will be the March 11 episode, with Senator Elissa Slotkin and Julian Lennon promoting his exhibition. Also in the episode is a full accounting of the origins of the Donald Trump-Rosie O’Donnell feud that spawned from The View, as well as a very raw call with Wendy Williams in which she explained her concerns about her conservatorship.

Finally, Friday (April 19) will see the return of the February 21 episode with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio promoting Daredevil: Born Again and Antoni Porowski promoting No Taste Like Home. (Come for the guests, but stay for Hostin taking a solo stand against some comments by Pete Buttigieg.)

CNN’s Real Ratings Revealed: Who’s Top & Who’s Lagging Behind?

Abby Phillip, Anderson Cooper, and Kaitlan Collins
    CNN YouTube

The fierce ratings battle continues across the news networks, and CNN may have found themselves a new secret weapon when it comes to viewership, especially in the coveted adults 25-54 demographic.

Anderson Cooper has long been the face of CNN, yet he’s not always the top ratings-grabber. For example, last Thursday (March 13), Anderson Cooper 360 finished third for the evening in total viewers, with 707,000. This was behind Erin Burnett OutFront, which led the night for CNN with 714,000 viewers.

More surprisingly, perhaps, is the success of the still relatively new NewsNight with Abby Phillip, which finished second for the night in total viewers with 710,000 in the 10 pm ET hour. Phillip began anchoring the round table discussion show in October 2023, and the show continues to shine for CNN.

On Thursday, Phillip’s show topped the key demo for CNN with 153,000, ahead of Cooper at 141,000 and The Source with Kaitlan Collins at 139,000.

The success of Phillip’s late-night show has seen CNN experimenting with her as a host on Saturday morning shows, with CNN Saturday Morning Table for Five, taking the spot previously held by Chris Wallace.

Prior to joining CNN, Phillip worked for Politico, covering the Obama White House, The Washington Post as a national political reporter, and ABC News as a digital reporter for politics. She graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts in government in 2010; while at Harvard, she wrote for The Harvard Crimson.
    Abby Phillip hosts NewsNight

    CNN YouTube

NewsNight sees Phillip leading discussions on the hot topics of the day, featuring a round table of guests from across the political spectrum. The conversations can often get heated, as seen last week in a spat between The View‘s Ana Navarro and Shark Tank‘s Kevin O’Leary, or on Monday (March 17), when Phillip clashed with CNN GOP analyst Scott Jennings, who often causes friction on the show.

Viewers have shared positive comments about Phillip’s show, with one X user writing, “You do a good job of trying to host all sides of the argument. Wish you went down the middle a little more but you handle every argument with class and style @abbydphillip.”

“Just flipped the channel from Fox to CNN to see what was being said and found your show. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll continue to watch you and the other four. Great job!” said another.

“The best show with greatest moderator. Great balance,” another added.

Another wrote, “Great show, great team on the show.”

However, some fans are growing tired of Jennings’ contributions to the show, with one X commenter writing, “I no long watch your show because of that one guy who defends Trump on every point.”

“Not until Scott is gone. Refuse to watch your show if he will ever be a guest,” said another.

“Please, give Scott vacation days,” added one user.

“Are @ScottJenningsKY or @kevinolearytv on the show? If so, it’s a hard pass for me,” another wrote.

‘The Price is Right’: Drew Carey Drops Card as Contestant Wildly Celebrates Win

    The Price is Right/YouTube

Host Drew Carey had a snafu during a recent The Price is Right episode. However, the hiccup didn’t prevent the game show contestant from winning the huge prize.

Contestant Anita, from Guam, bid $1 on a vanity with an LED mirror and a matching stool, as well as a multi-styler with six attachments, on the Friday, April 11 episode. The actual retail price was $920. Since the next highest bid was $1,000, Anita won the bid and got to play a game to win another prize.

The game show contestant met Carey on the stage to play Hi-Lo. Hi-Lo is a grocery pricing game where the contestant is shown six grocery items. They have to select the three that they think are the highest-priced items. The prices are then revealed and placed in the Hi row. The lowest price of the highest is kept. The remaining three items are placed in the Lo row. If all three of those items are priced under the one in the Hi row, they win the prize.

The Price Is Right player wins big on challenging game after Drew Carey teasing - The Mirror US

For the highest-priced items, Anita picked the grain-free organic cereal, valued at $9.99, Gorilla Glue, priced at $7.99, and the frozen clam strips for $11.49. The highest two items were taken away, so the other three items had to be lower than $7.99.

When Carey went to reveal the price of the green pea snacks, he dropped the card on the floor. He let out a laugh through his nose and then revealed that they were $2.79. The next item was Febreeze air freshener, which was valued at $3.79. She only needed the last item to be less than $7.99. The four-pack of Old Spice soap was $5.49, so she won $7,500.

Anita jumped up and down and skipped into Carey’s arms to celebrate. He led her over to the model James, who stood in front of the board with the prize amount on it. Anita leaped into the air and hugged him before screaming and frantically waving.

She won the Showcase Showdown after spinning 90. During the Showcase, Anita bid on a trip to Washington D.C., a trip to Vancouver, Canada, and a trip to Tokyo, Japan. She bid $23,500. The actual price was $40,964. Because her opponent went over, Anita won the Showcase.

Last Man Standing Reunion Revealed in New Image of Upcoming Shifting Gears Episode

    Tim Allen Last Man Standing

Another Last Man Standing reunion episode is in the works for Tim Allen’s new sitcom Shifting Gears. However, unlike the recently aired Valentine’s Day episode, the returning Last Man Standing alum was not a main cast member during the show’s nine-season run on ABC/Fox.

Per Screen Rant, in an upcoming episode of Shifting Gears, Allen will reunite with Jay Leno, who made recurring appearances in Last Man Standing as semi-retired auto technician Joe Leonard in the show’s final five seasons. However, Allen and Leno’s working relationship goes back even further than that, with Leno having made two guest appearances as himself on Allen’s first sitcom, Home Improvement, in the 1980s. Leno will appear in the March 12 episode of Shifting Gears, titled “Gummies,” as himself, with the storyline seeing the former Tonight Show bringing his car into Allen’s character’s car restoration shop, Parker Customs, for repair. Check out a first look image of Leno below.

Shifting Gears Header Tim Allen Kat Dennings jay-leno-tim-allen-shifting-gears

Leno isn’t the first Last Man Standing alum to make a guest appearance on Shifting Gears. Nancy Travis, who appeared in all nine seasons of the ABC/Fox sitcom as Tim Allen’s character’s wife Vanessa Baxter, guest starred in the sixth episode, “Valentine’s.” In the episode, directed by frequent Allen collaborator John Pasquin, Travis played a widow named Charlotte who stumbles upon Matt (Allen’s Shifting Gears character) visiting his wife’s gravesite on Valentine’s Day.

After the episode aired, Travis spoke with TheWrap about working with Allen again. “I got to work with Tim again, not in the role of a wife or a girlfriend, but as a stranger who shares a similar past and is a catalyst for him moving forward after the death of his wife in the show,” she said. “It was a very, very interesting character, and I was really excited to jump in and do these scenes with Tim.”

Shifting Gears Has Been a Ratings Hit for ABC

Created by Julie Thacker Scully and Mike Scully, Shifting Gears stars Allen as Matt Parker, a widower who runs an auto shop, and Kat Dennings as his estranged daughter, Riley Parker. The series revolves around Matt reluctantly taking in Riley and her two children after she returns home, as well as day-to-day auto shop life. Seann William Scott, Daryl Chill Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis are also part of the show’s main cast.

    Raising Dad cast

While his film career as a leading man was short-lived, Allen has remained a constant draw on television, with Home Improvement and Last Man Standing lasting eight and nine seasons, respectively. Shifting Gears has the potential to run just as long, especially if it maintains the ratings it’s currently getting. The series premiere of Shifting Gears set an audience record for ABC with its subsequent viewership on streaming, drawing almost 17 million viewers across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and digital platforms. This makes Shifting Gears the strongest series debut for ABC since the Roseanne spinoff series, The Conners, premiered in 2018.

“Gummies,” the ninth episode of Shifting Gears, guest starring Jay Leno, airs on ABC on Mar. 12.

George’s Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Return Sets The Bar High For Sheldon’s Comeback

Lance Barber's George Sr looking shocked at a kitchen table in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1, episode 12, “Typhoid Georgie.”

While Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage managed to pull off George Sr.’s unlikely return unexpectedly well, I fear that this only makes the inevitable comeback from Young Sheldon’s title character even trickier. When Young Sheldon’s finale aired, I figured that was the end of the character’s story. The Big Bang Theory’s finale had already brought the story of his adult life to a fitting close, as he and Amy won the Nobel Prize while surrounded by their supportive friends. Young Sheldon’s ending revealed they also had children, meaning the couple’s happy ending seemed set in stone.

Moreover, since Young Sheldon’s spinoff was titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, I couldn’t see why the series would need Sheldon. Iain Armitage’s version of the character ended up at CalTech at the end of Young Sheldon and remained there until the beginning of The Big Bang Theory, and he and Georgie shared a strained relationship until The Big Bang Theory season 11, episode 23, “The Sibling Realignment.” Georgie’s story needed more screen time, but his relationship with Sheldon was fairly clear.

However, from the pilot onward, I knew Sheldon needed to return in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Not only did Zoe Perry reprise her role as Georgie and Sheldon’s mother Mary from Young Sheldon, but Meemaw and Missy also appeared in the spinoff. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage can’t include all the rest of the original Cooper family and leave out Sheldon, and season 1, episode 12, “Typhoid Georgie,“ made this even more obvious. In this episode, a bed-bound Georgie had a fever dream where he was reunited with his late father, Lance Barber’s George Sr.

Although George Sr. didn’t come back from the dead in “Typhoid Georgie,” he did play a major role in the episode. This inadvertently made Sheldon’s absence from Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage way worse, since the spinoff brought his dead father back for a cameo before reuniting the two living brothers. The fact that George Sr.’s comeback struck a surprisingly deft balance of laughs and sentimentality only exacerbated this issue. It is clear that the spinoff knows how to reincorporate Young Sheldon characters, even dead ones, so Sheldon’s absence feels increasingly strange.

In the first of his fever dream appearances in “Typhoid Georgie,” George Sr. initially encouraged his son to return to work despite his illness, even briefly turning into a terrifying ghost to send him on his way. Later on, he took on board Georgie’s concerns about working himself to the bone and losing out on time with his family, a moment that was subtly tragic thanks to George Sr.’s untimely death. While Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage still remembers Sheldon on occasion, this plot proved the spinoff can reintegrate him into the show and should.

George’s Creative Return Raises Expectations For Sheldon’s Eventual Cameo

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Fleshed Out George Sr. and Georgie’s Relationship

George and Georgie in Young Sheldon

What was impressive about George Sr.’s cameo was not just the fact that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage managed to bring Barber’s character back despite his death, but that Georgie’s interaction with George Sr. felt as meaningful as any of their conversations in Young Sheldon. In Young Sheldon season 7, episode 13, “Funeral,” Barber reprised his role immediately after George Sr.’s death in an outing where Sheldon repeatedly imagined different ways that his final conversation with his father could have panned out.

I’m now convinced that the show could make Georgie and Sheldon’s troubled relationship as compelling as his imagined reunion with his late father.

Similarly, in “Typhoid Georgie,” Georgie confronts his father about encouraging his son’s workaholic tendencies. Since Georgie never got to talk with his father about work/life balance during the years they shared together, it was only via a fever dream that he was able to achieve any closure. While the breakup of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is technically the spinoff’s main focus, I’m now convinced that the show could make Georgie and Sheldon’s troubled relationship as compelling as his imagined reunion with his late father.

What Is The Best Way To Bring Sheldon Back In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Episode 12 Highlighted The Trouble With Sheldon’s Return

The main problem with the comeback is that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will have a hard time justifying Sheldon’s return. Georgie feared what his father thought of his sick days, so he envisioned a conversation with the late character where they could talk this through. However, The Big Bang Theory already clarified that Sheldon and his older brother won’t see eye to eye again for a long time. Due to the events of “The Sibling Realignment”, viewers know the duo remain at odds for years.

Georgie and Sheldon can’t have a sweet reunion moment like Georgie and George Sr., which makes Sheldon’s comeback tougher to pull off

Thus, unlike Georgie and his imagined version of his late father, Sheldon and Georgie can’t settle their differences too soon. They can’t have a sweet reunion moment like Georgie and George Sr., which makes Sheldon’s comeback tougher to pull off. Sheldon could return for a major family holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas, and this could result in a fight that explains how the two grew further apart. However, as a sitcom, it might be hard for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage to make this premise as funny as an episode of Young Sheldon.

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 16, “Baby Fight”

While Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 16 helped justify the Young Sheldon couple’s eventual break-up, the outing also proved that their story from The Big Bang Theory could be more complicated than it appeared. The very title of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage hints at the show’s central conflict, but it can be easy to forget the stakes of the series amid all the drama in the McAllister family home. In Young Sheldon’s finale, Mandy and Georgie were happily married and raising their first child together.

In The Big Bang Theory season 11, episode 23, “The Sibling Realignment,” Georgie’s older self mentioned his ex-wife in passing. This inconvenient bit of franchise lore means that, at some point in the future, Georgie and Mandy’s marriage has to end. The couple might reconcile but, by the time Sheldon reconnects with his older brother later in life, Georgie is canonically confirmed to have an ex-wife. So far, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage proved Dale and Meemaw’s relationship was worse than it seemed in Young Sheldon, but the spinoff hasn’t ruined Georgie and Mandy’s union.

First Marriage Episode 16 Sees Georgie & Mandy Consider Having More Children

The Couple Fought Over Georgie’s Suggestion Of A Second Child

To be fair to Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1, the show has hinted at some potential sore spots that could become sites of conflict later in the couple’s marriage. Mandy has pretty openly resented relying on Georgie and her family for financial support, while Georgie’s ambitious plans for her father Jim’s tire store often clash with Jim’s more conservative approach to business. Neither of these problems would necessarily lead to a full-blown divorce, but both prove that the title characters have their flaws and issues already.

Similarly, Mandy’s involvement in Meemaw’s illegal sportsbook gambling scheme proves that she could have a run-in with the law. Since George advised her against partaking in the scheme, this could cause a major fight between the pair. After all, Mandy’s potential arrest would leave their daughter, CeeCee, without a caretaker as Georgie is often working. However, episode 16, “Baby Fight,” offered the most obvious explanation for Georgie and Mandy’s breakup yet, and it is a rare issue that can cause divorce even in otherwise healthy marriages.

Mandy wanted to focus on getting back to her career while Georgie wanted to expand their family, proving that the pair don’t necessarily share a common vision for their future.

Georgie suggested that he and Mandy should have another child soon in “Baby Fight,” and Mandy disagreed completely. Mandy wanted to focus on getting back to her career while Georgie wanted to expand their family, proving that the pair don’t necessarily share a common vision for their future. Even among healthy couples with good communication habits, the choice of whether to have more children is a massive existential and ethical quandary that can leave people highly divided.

A Second Child Would Make Georgie & Mandy’s Breakup More Heartbreaking

First Marriage Has Already Acknowledged The Couple’s Eventual Divorce

The reality of Georgie and Mandy’s unavoidable breakup is right in the title of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, but “Baby Fight” offers one of the first clear looks at what could become the specific contours of their separation. On the one hand, the prospect of the pair having a second child makes the possibility of divorce seem further away than ever. On the other hand, Mandy’s complete disagreement with Georgie’s future plans proves that, for all of their progress, the couple want fundamentally different things from their union.

While Missy’s breakup and pregnancies received some screen time in the show’s later seasons, The Big Bang Theory never mentioned how many children Georgie has. As such, it is tough to guess where this story is going. Mandy’s sweet relationship with Connor proves Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s characters are unpredictable, and either Georgie or Mandy could back track on their initial thoughts about another child before long. Since The Big Bang Theory didn’t specify the size of Georgie’s family or the timing of his separation, this twist is all but impossible to predict.

What The Big Bang Theory Revealed About Georgie & Mandy’s Future

The Original Series Didn’t Mention The Couple’s Children

Sheldon never mentioned anything about Georgie’s children, while he did reference his twin sister Missy’s kids. However, Georgie’s older incarnation from The Big Bang Theory was also comparatively laid back, and the fact that he didn’t even mention CeeCee suggests that he may not have any strong relationship with her. As Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s repeated tire store plots come up again and again, it is hard not to think that a fight over Jim’s business is what eventually leads to the couple’s divorce.

Lance Barber's George Sr looking shocked at a kitchen table in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage

However, this could be a red herring. Georgie and Mandy’s marriage might end thanks to their disagreement over having more children, but it could take months or even years of the pair fighting over this topic before they decide they are incompatible. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 16 doesn’t make it any easier to guess, but it does give the Young Sheldon couple one more major bone of contention between them long before The Big Bang Theory confirmed their breakup.

  • Announcing the cast for Shifting Gears season 2. There are some CHANGES

Announcing the cast for Shifting Gears season 2. There are some CHANGES

Yes! Shifting Gears Getting Renewed Means It Can Introduce The Character I’m Most Interested In

Seann William Scott as Gabriel and Kat Dennings as Riley drinking coffee in Shifting Gears

Now that Shifting Gears has officially secured season 2, there’s one highly-anticipated character to join the Parkers when the family sitcom returns. Tim Allen leads the Shifting Gears cast of characters as widower Matt Parker, whose grief and gruff personality often causes him to clash with his contrasting daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings). The inciting event of the series sees Riley return home after 15 years with her own children in tow: endearingly awkward teen Carter (Maxwell Simkins) and enterprising youngest child Georgia (Barrett Margolis). Shifting Gears quickly establishes the tense relationship between Riley and her father, but desperation supersedes pride.

Riley and Matt grow individually throughout Shifting Gears season 1, but their relationship has also incrementally mended as the two have been forced to resolve their frequent conflicts. With Shifting Gears joining the list of shows renewed by ABC for the 2025-26 season, the existing characters can continue to develop— more importantly, the cast can expand and enrich the overarching storylines. The employees at Matt’s auto-restoration shop, Gabriel (Seann William Scott), Stitch (Daryl “Chill” Mitchell), and Frankie (Cynthia Quiles), have already added a unique layer to the series. However, the Parker family still has one missing member to introduce.

Shifting Gears Teased Matt’s Son & Riley’s Brother — Sammy

    Unseen But Not Unknown

Kat Dennings as Riley and Tim Allen as Matt in Shifting Gears.

Although Matt and Riley are firmly planted at the center of Shifting Gears, the sitcom has been haunted by two missing family members: Diane and Sammy. Diane, Riley’s mother and Matt’s wife, passed away prior to the series, but the aftermath of her death is still impacting the main characters. Alternatively, Sammy has been mentioned multiple times— and even has a one-sided phone call with Riley at the beginning of the season— but his presence has been more subtle, obviously implying an inevitable appearance. Out of Shifting Gears’ biggest unanswered questions, when Sammy will return is definitely towards the top.

Sammy’s phone call with Riley doesn’t reveal his voice, meaning there’s still an opportunity for Shifting Gears to cast a big name as Riley’s brother.

There are already built-in dynamics for Sammy to fit into when he eventually shows up in Shifting Gears, but there’s still no telling what kind of personality the unseen character will have. It’s been established that Sammy used to be close with one of Shifting Gears’ scene-stealers, with him and Gabriel being childhood friends. Sammy’s phone call with Riley implies they’re close enough for a quick chat, but whether Sammy is more likely to take Riley or Matt’s side in a squabble is up in the air. Given that Sammy is in the Navy, his return will undoubtedly be eventful.

Shifting Gears Season 2 Means That Sammy Can Finally Be Introduced

A Second Season Means New Characters Alongside New Stories

Matt (Tim Allen), Carter (Maxwell Simkins), Georgia (Barrett Margolis), and Riley (Kat Dennings) around the kitchen in Shifting Gears.

Shifting Gears season 2 not only leaves the door open for Sammy to appear; it demands that Riley’s brother be present. Executive producer Michelle Nader confirmed Sam’s character in Shifting Gears season 2, describing him as “a great character for everyone to complain to!” The short line implies that Sammy will be a middleman for Riley and Matt, not quite a buffer and not quite a neutral party. There’s no exact timeframe for when Sammy will join Shifting Gears; his arrival may mirror Riley’s and come in the season premiere, but it might take more time.

Matt looking at Riley in Shifting Gears season 1, episode 9

Whenever Sammy makes his long-awaited entrance, he will surely become a strong influence on the unresolved plotlines, further complicating everything with his fresh perspective. Riley and Gabriel’s romance in Shifting Gears, slow as it has been burning, will certainly run into obstacles if Sammy objects. Now that Riley has committed to divorcing Jimmy (Lucas Neff), Shifting Gears can utilize Sammy as a part of Riley’s support system and explore his role as Carter and Georgia’s uncle. Of course, the biggest impact Sammy will have on any plot is the contentious relationship between his sister and his father.

How Sammy’s Debut Can Impact Matt & Riley’s Relationship In Shifting Gears Season 2

Sammy Can Triangulate The Family Comedy

Matt and Riley may have ended Shifting gears season 1 on a good note, but their characters are fundamentally bound to quarrel over everything important and everything inconsequential. Sammy could be a much-needed voice of reason, moderating their arguments and helping the combative father-daughter duo understand each other’s perspectives. Having a third voice in the discussion will help balance the episodic conflicts and add nuance rather than perpetuate the hostile dichotomy of Riley and Matt’s interactions. In short, Sammy could add shades of gray that make disagreements feel less like fighting for fighting’s sake in Shifting Gears season 2.

Regardless of whether Sammy turns out to be straitlaced like Matt or rebellious like Riley, his presence will be invaluable to Shifting Gears season 2.

Additionally, introducing Matt’s son in Shifting Gears can elongate the underlying narrative of complex grief without it feeling redundant. Riley and Matt have helped each other confront their unresolved trauma from Diane’s death, but it’s possible Sammy still needs to heal alongside his family, despite its occasional dysfunction. Regardless of whether Sammy turns out to be straitlaced like Matt or rebellious like Riley, his presence will be invaluable to Shifting Gears season 2. Hopefully, Sammy will integrate with the cast well enough to grow into a full-fledged character on his own, negating the need to act as a mere intermediary.
