Season 2 Can Focus On Gabby’s Backstory And Potential Future Interests

While Gabby’s mother plotline could return in Happy’s Place season 2 with Danny’s help, there are other storylines for Gabby that may be explored in the show’s sophomore year.

For instance, Gabby’s family history and backstory could be explored further, especially after Gabby and Bobbie learn that they are sisters in Happy’s Place season 1, episode 10, “The MacAllister Girls.” Gabby’s journey to becoming a bartender at Happy’s could also be shown with flashbacks that establish her interest in bartending, as well as what she went through in her young adult life.

Whether it’s Gabby’s goal to be a mom or her future aspirations, Gabby is a funny and multidimensional character who will continue to be one of the driving forces behind Happy’s Place and its successful run thus far.

Gabby’s other interests should be included in season 2 of Happy’s Place.

This includes her expertise at auctions, which was introduced in season 1, episode 16, “Whiskey Business,” where Gabby saved Bobbie and Isabella from selling an old whiskey bottle found at Happy’s. Gabby could have a future as an auctioneer that leads to big business for herself and Happy’s.

  • The secret’s out: Steve Howey’s Happy’s Place Role has been CHANGED

The secret’s out: Steve Howey’s Happy’s Place Role has been CHANGED

I’m Still Baffled At This 1 Happy’s Place Storyline, But Thankfully They Changed Steve Howey’s Part In It

Steve Howey as Danny in Happy's Place.

Happy’s Place has marked a welcome return to comedy for sitcom star Reba McEntire. She portrays Bobbie, who inherits half of a Knoxville, Tennessee bar called Happy, founded by her father of the same name. She also gets to know her paternal half-sister, Isabella. Her Reba co-star, Melissa Peterman, is another standout as the consistently funny bartender Gabby. For Gabby, she’s a woman with nonstop humor who insists on doing things her way and standing out from the crowd.

There’s an intriguing storyline for Gabby regarding her desire to have a baby. This plot would’ve included a potential sperm donor portrayed by Steve Howey, another former cast member from Reba. According to Happy’s Place showrunner Kevin Abbott, Howey ended up appearing in one episode of Happy’s. Rather than play a sperm donor, Howey played Danny, a wealthy business owner Gabby met at a dog park and encouraged him to host a Christmas party at Bobbie’s tavern. The sperm donor storyline would’ve been interesting, but it may come up again since Happy’s Place has been renewed for season 2.

Gabby Wanting To Be A Mother Arc In Happy’s Place Is Difficult To Believe

Gabby’s Mom Storyline Will Be A Challenge To Incorporate Into The Show

Pablo Castelblanco as Steve in Happy's Place

Gabby is a hilarious character who tends to poke fun at her friends and coworkers, including Bobbie and Emmett, the cook at Happy’s. However, there are also times when Gabby expresses her feelings of worry, including her intentions of being a good mother. This is shown in season 1, episode 12, “Baby Doll,” where Gabby reveals her uncertainties regarding motherhood. In order to face her fear of being a good mother, Gabby gets an AI baby doll to help her practice caring for a baby, along with assistance from Bobbie and her expertise as a mom.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Happy's Place

While Gabby’s baby storyline is intriguing and unveils the character’s emotional complexity, it may be a challenge moving forward because of Gabby’s advanced age, making her past the time of childbearing and likely not having enough money for IVF. If Gabby were to follow through in having a baby, another additional challenge for her would be in balancing her work as a bartender and her responsibilities as a mom. However, the benefit of Gabby continuing her pursuit of being a parent would allow her character to be fully fleshed out, displaying her sentimental qualities and not just being a bartender.

Steve Howey Was Supposed To Be Gabby’s Donor (But His Role Was Changed)

Howey Instead Played A Business Owner In The Show’s Christmas Episode

    Danny-Bobbie-and-Gabby-in-Happy's-Place

Steve Howey had a major Reba reunion with his former co-stars, McEntire and Peterman, on Happy’s PlaceHowey’s chemistry with Peterman is especially evident when he made his sole appearance thus far on Happy’s in season 1, episode 7, “Ho-Ho-Howey.” While Howey was supposed to play Gabby’s sperm donor so she could potentially have a baby, he instead played Danny, a rich business owner. Gabby tries to persuade Danny to hold a Christmas party at Bobbie’s tavern in order to raise funds for the staff at Happy’s so they can afford health insurance for the year.

Howey’s changed role from sperm donor to wealthy business owner was warranted for the sake of providing a funny storyline for the show’s Christmas episode. According to Abbott, if the sperm donor storyline were to be included, the holiday episode wouldn’t have been considered suitable for kids and younger audiences. Howey’s role as Danny is also funny here because he is slightly fooled by Gabby, as she makes him believe that she is Bobbie so he can hold the party at the tavern. In return, Danny pretends to be Emmett to get Bobbie’s attention.

Howey was also only available to star in Happy’s for a brief period of time, causing the network to do a Christmas-themed episode rather than have him play Gabby’s sperm donor. The Christmas episode was a better choice at the time in order to establish the chemistry and hilarity between Danny, Gabby, and Bobbie (with a reference to the actors’ days on Reba). However, given that Happy’s Place will return for season 2, Howey could reprise his role as Danny in order to further develop his friendship with Gabby, and to potentially help her become a mother.

Blake Shelton Revealed the “Only Regret” He & Gwen Stefani Have About Their Marriage

“She’s my best friend; that’s the best way I know to say it,” Shelton said about Stefani.

Whether they’re turning chairs on The Voice or walking the red carpet, it’s no secret that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani know how to have fun together.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Reveal Why Their Relationship Works | NBC Insider

Married since 2021, Shelton and Stefani have become one of the music industry’s sweetest pairings. While speaking to Access in April 2024, Shelton was asked the secret to his and Stefani’s relationship success.

“She’s my best friend; that’s the best way I know to say it, and it’s not something that we have to really think about — it’s just there,” Shelton said lovingly. “And we have fun with it — maybe that’s the key. We have so much fun together. Whether we’re having a cup of coffee in the morning, watching a movie, or performing in an arena somewhere.”

Shelton says there’s just one regret the couple has about their marriage: They wish they met sooner. “We literally just have so much fun together, and the only regret that we have is that we didn’t find each other until late in life, you know?” he said. “But [we] also know that we had to go through everything we went through to get us to there. But we’re just grateful, and we have fun.”

Ever since Shelton’s exit from The Voice in 2023, he’s had more time to spend with Stefani and their family on their Oklahoma ranch.

“I think he just got to a point where he just wants time in his ranch, like time to just do the other things that he loves to do. I’m excited for him because we have lives outside of work, and it’s a really good life,” Stefani told Extra. “We have Oklahoma, which is something I never knew I needed and wanted. We planted a garden, we do all kinds of fun stuff. So we’re looking forward to doing some of that family stuff together. It’s gonna be great.”

Since leaving The Voice, Shelton and Stefani have shared many updates from their ranch, where they enjoy any excuse for a date. From adorable fishing dates to seasonal pumpkin picking, Shelton and Stefani have created a beautiful life where the fun never ends.

John Legend Is “Scared” of His 8-Year-Old Daughter Luna: Here’s Why (VIDEO)

The Voice star shared a genuine insecurity while serving as a guest co-host on TODAY with Jenna & Friends.

John Legend is approaching his daughter’s upcoming birthday with trepidation.

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

During his recent April 8 guest co-hosting stint on TODAY with Jenna & Friends, the longtime star of The Voice bonded with Jenna Bush Hager over their kids’ upcoming birthdays. Legend revealed that he’s a little worried about his oldest daughter, Luna, “outgrowing” him.

After the two revealed that they both would be celebrating a child’s birthday in the upcoming week (Luna turns nine on April 14, and Hager’s banned-from-TODAY Mila turns 12 one day earlier), Legend wasted no time revealing why he’s “scared” of his daughter as she gets older and older.

“Are you okay with this age for a girl?” Legend asked. “Because I feel like everyone scared me — they’re like, at a certain point, they’re gonna hate you, and their hormones start doing interesting things, and they don’t think you’re cool anymore.”

Viewers could tell by the look on Legend’s face the father of four was being open and honest.

“And I’m so worried about — I want my daughter to think I’m cool forever,” he sweetly confessed.

“Somehow I feel like John Legend is the exception to all those rules,” Hager reassured him. The mom of three didn’t want the multi-time Grammy winner to fall victim to a self-fulfilling prophecy.

“Molly Shannon was on our show and she told Hoda and I and she said, ‘You know what? If we just think our kids are gonna be that way, that’s like a preconceived notion,’” Hager recalled.

This advice seemed to comfort the “All of Me” singer!

“Okay, so it’s self-fulfilling,” he said before reassuring himself. “I’m gonna be cool for Luna forever.”

“You definitely are — I mean, look at your jacket. If she doesn’t think that’s cool-”

And that’s when Legend threw Hager — and viewers — a hilarious TODAY fourth-hour curveball.

“Well, she critiques my outfits when I’m about to leave the house,” he admitted.

    Hager was stunned!

“What?” she asked incredulously. “What does she say?”

    Legend didn’t mince words:

“She looks me up and down and tells me whether or not she approves — and she’s not even nine yet.”

(Hang in there, John — it’s gonna be okay!)

John Legend shares photos from his recent tropical family vacation

The entire Legend family (save their adorable pets) just returned from an unbelievable tropical vacation.

In an April 1 Instagram post, Legend peeled back the curtain and gave fans a peek at what his family’s been up to. We’re not sure exactly where the Legend fam jetted off to, but it sure looks tropical, relaxing, and utterly beautiful!

The photos are almost too cute for words. Legend’s and Chrissy Teigen’s kids were center stage!

Each pic is better than the last — Luna went boogie boarding with her dad, Miles was looking every bit of the stylish almost 7-year-old he is, and little Esti and Wren did a lot of lounging around without a care in the world.

(We’re more than a little jealous of that last part.)

‘The Voice’ Fans Up in Arms Over NBC’s Season 27 Announcement

Many fans enjoying the current season of “The Voice” have expressed irritation over an NBC announcement that came just as the season 26 coaches — Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, and Gwen Stefani — kicked off the playoff rounds on November 19, 2024.

Hours before the season 26 episode aired, “The Voice” posted a social media video with a “mic drop moment” featuring the next season’s coaches — Adam Levine, John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, and Bublé — to announce that season 27 will premiere on February 3, 2025. This is the first time in the show’s history that “The Voice” has premiered so early in the calendar year.

Fans immediately pushed back on the news. Some complained that the new season will come too quickly, while others were annoyed with the future coaching lineup given the chemistry between the current foursome.

There Will Be Less Than 8 Weeks Between Season 26 Finale & Season 27 Premiere of ‘The Voice’

A post shared by NBC’s The Voice (@nbcthevoice)

The final season 26 performances will air live on December 9, according to Parade, with voting results revealed during the season finale on December 10. By launching season 27 less than eight weeks later, the February 3 date makes season 27’s premiere earlier in the calendar year than any other season of “The Voice,” based on IMDb episode guides. The closest NBC came to launching a season that early was back in 2012, when season 2 premiered on February 5.

Most spring seasons of “The Voice” have begun in late February or early March, so the start date for season 27 has thrown some people off, including one who wrote on Instagram, “Man, yall put out a new season every other month?”

“Woah that’s VERY early for a spring season,” someone else wrote. “More live shows please? ?”

Another confused fan tweeted, “Wait so has this been filmed already, before this season’s live shows ?”

The season 27 coaches have, indeed, already taped most of the shows that will begin airing on February 3, beginning with the Blind Auditions.

Many Fans Were Crushed That Michael Bublé is the Only Coach Returning from Season 26

The Voice CoachesABC/Mitch Haaseth NBCSeason 26 “The Voice” coaches Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé with host Carson Daly

Many fans also expressed dismay about the incoming coaches for season 27. Some didn’t realize that, other than Michael Bublé, the other season 26 coaches won’t be returning for the next season, while others were frustrated to see who’s in the 2025 lineup.

The current foursome has had exceptional chemistry, many fans noted, including one who commented, “The chemistry between the coaches this season is unmatched, no season has been this good.”

Another wrote, “Oh nooooo! I may not be able to watch!! This is the best season ever with Gwen, Snoop, Reba and Micheal! SO SAD!!!!”

Even McEntire echoed those sentiments during a recent episode as she was chatting with Snoop, telling him, “The camaraderie between the four coaches is the best. This is my third season. This is my favorite.”

Though most are thrilled to at least see Bublé return, many fans expressed dismay about returning coaches Levine, who spent 16 seasons on the show before leaving in 2019, and Legend, who skipped season 26 but will be back for his 10th season in 2025.

Regarding Levine’s return, some people said they worry he’ll bring a “nasty” and bitter attitude to the show, including someone who commented on “The Voice” announcement, “Nooooo…..we love @snoopdogg and the love and kindness he brings. We don’t want Adam and the mean spirited antics. Boooooo ?

Someone else interjected, “Will not watch with John Legend on the show!!”

And another disappointed fan quipped, “First season I won’t watch. Terrible line up”

But it wasn’t all negative feedback. Some fans expressed excitement over Levine and Legend’s return, while others said they’ll welcome Ballerini with open arms.

Season 27 of “The Voice” is due to premiere on February 3 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Season 26, meanwhile, continues with the playoffs on November 25.

  • ‘The Voice’ Has Completely Forgotten About Being Fair. There have been some unfortunate bumps in the road

‘The Voice’ Has Completely Forgotten About Being Fair. There have been some unfortunate bumps in the road

‘The Voice’ Has Completely Forgotten About Being Fair

Page Mackenzie during 'The Voice' Season 27 Knockouts.

Editing a reality television show can be a daunting task. Not everything that’s filmed can make it to air. It’s especially true for a show that records 24/7. But when it comes to talent competitions, things are a tad different. The focus should be on the actual performances, right? While the celebrity coaches are the draw to the show, the aspiring singers that we’re there to follow are the central piece. Like any reality talent show, The Voice has a series of rounds featuring a large pool of talent. But when it comes to showcasing all the talent, fairness doesn’t quite exist.

Even with a two-hour episode, with the occasional hour-long thrown in, not every Battle or Knockout performance can be shared in full. We get it, but when it gets to the point where an entire contest is removed as if she doesn’t exist, what’s up with that? Page Mackenzie, a promising young singer on Kelsea Ballerini‘s team, had a series of heartbreaks in the realm of editing, and like the singer, we can’t quite figure out why she was done so dirty.

Page Mackenzie Was Montaged Twice on ‘The Voice’

Season 27 of The Voice has been incredibly exciting thus far. Between immense talent, the return of Adam Levine, and the exciting dynamic of the quartet of coaches, it has been running down the course as a top-tier season. But there have been some unfortunate bumps in the road. On the journey of Page Mackenzie, it all started with a nerve-racking Blind Audition where Ballerini and Michael Bublé waited until that last note to turn. Page, a formidable country voice, opted to join her fellow female country singer’s team. From there, one might think that Ballerini would foster a blossoming arc for Page, but we didn’t get to see that. The edit nearly eliminated her from our minds.

First, she was “montaged” in her Battle Round victory against Robert Hunter. With no mentor session present, she was heard singing “Lies, Lies, Lies” by Morgan Wallen for a mere moment before Ballerini crowned her the winner. Then, during the Knockouts, all that could be seen was her giving a hug to Alanna Lynise following her victory. Not even a note could be heard. While it’s hard to fit every single singer into the season through equal screen time, they should all have their journeys documented as if they existed on the show.

Noting she felt invisible, Page wrote an Instagram post following the episode, saying, “Heartbroken to have this performance montaged on The Voice — it’s hard to understand why, especially when so much heart and hard work went into it.” She continued to write, “I’m not angry — but I am disappointed. These artists deserved to be seen & heard.” Noting that she was not alone in this treatment, fans came to her support. Even her coach wrote a comment to quell the displeasure. Ballerini wrote, “I see you, sister. I’m so sorry that happened. I’m gutted for you too. I remember how incredible that performance was in the room and it deserves to be shown. Yes to wine and couch time when we’re both home in Nashville. Always on your team.” While we can’t blame the rookie coach for the treatment in the edit, her acknowledgment speaks volumes.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton on 'The Voice.'

‘The Voice’ Is About the Celebrities, Not the Contestants

Jessica Manalo and Dan Kiernan in the Battles for 'The Voice' Season 27.

It’s sometimes telling a singer’s fate based on how they’re edited during these rounds. During the Battles, Dan Kiernan‘s victory was minimized to a note and a line of feedback. We should have known then that the exceptional queer singer would lose maybe in the Playoffs, but the Knockout? That was a blindside to all. Page receiving a similar fate to Dan based on what was seen in the Battle might have made sense, but at least he was given a full segment of a final mentorship. Page received nothing. Fairness on reality television isn’t really a thing, but on a talent show, there should be some equal footing. Singers and their supportive fans deserve closure when their journey ends. American Idol gives those fallen hopefuls their moment to say goodbye. The singers on The Voice are merely pawns on a chessboard. Page deserved much better. Can we blame it on the edit, or is it simply just how reality TV is made? The Voice is a place to expand your platform and earn a following. When the edit determines who is shown, it sways the audience’s feelings. If a singer is erased from the show, like Page and Dan were, is that The Voice‘s way of saying they’re not worthy of stardom outside this game? If they’re not taking the chance on them, why should the audience? And that is not fair to any participant who signs up for this type of experience.

But there’s also something Page Mackenzie’s statement addressed that gets to the root of The Voice‘s main issue as a talent show. She wrote, “It’s clear the show is centered around other things. But for us it was always about music, connection & the courage it takes to show up.” The Voice is not about the singers but the coaches. It’s about the mentors who swoop in. Morgan Wallen aside, there’s a reason why The Voice hasn’t created a megastar like American Idol has. Part of what sets The Voice apart is the time we spend seeing the coaches develop a bond and chemistry. It’s why the biggest bromance on reality television between Adam Levin and Blake Shelton stood the test of time. But let’s not pretend that The Voice is a celebration of its artists at the forefront. They are the secondary storyline.

It’s okay to make the show different. The ratings don’t lie. Viewers come in droves to see the coaches work their magic, but it’s something that’s always been an elephant in the room. The Voice centers around the coaches as they play to win. It’s like fantasy football for music. They’re drafting their roster. They’re stealing. They’re saving. The Voice is not about the contestants because it’s about the celebrities. There’s a reason why Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé offered their personal phone numbers to their eliminated contestants. They didn’t get a fair shake, and they wanted to give them a lifeline when the dust settles. They’re there to make television, not a recording artist. Life isn’t fair, so reality television can’t be fair. Part of what talent competition shows do is allow individuals to pursue their dreams. It’s understandably hard to have your dream cut short. It’s even harder when it’s erased completely, all so Adam Levine can showcase the various items he can balance on his face.

The Voice airs Mondays at 8:00pm on NBC. All episodes are available to stream on Peacock.

Oops… They Did It Again: The Voice Coaches’ Five Biggest Season 27 Flubs… So Far

If you’ve been a fan of The Voice for any length of time — heck, often even just a single episode — you know that the coaches aren’t perfect. They make mistakes. Occasionally massive ones. And in the enduring NBC sing-off’s 27th season, veterans Adam Levine and John Legend, relative newbie Michael Bublé and total newb Kelsea Ballerini are performing true to form, making decisions here and there that leave us going, “Hmm,” “Are you sure about that?” and now and then, “Oh, come on, seriously?!?”

Below you’ll find the five flubs that most flummoxed me from the Battles and Knockouts, aka the first rounds in which contestants are either advanced, saved, stolen or — gulp — eliminated. (It’s that last one that always gets the coaches in trouble.) Accompanying each of the mentioned missteps is a video of the singer in question who no way, no how should have been allowed to walk off the stage.

Well, except maybe with the winner’s trophy in hand!

American Idol has featured host Ryan Seacrest since it began in 2002, but, now that he’s also hosting Wheel of Fortune, I think it’s time for him to leave the reality singing competition series in order to refresh it with a new host. Ryan debuted on American Idol season 1 with co-host Brian Dunkleman, and became the sole host of the show beginning with season 2. He’s witnessed the crowning of legendary champions such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, as well as the meteoric rises to fame of contestants such as Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, and Adam Lambert.

Ryan is known for being one of the hardest working people in show business. With his many hosting gigs, including American Idol, American Top 40, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and Live with Kelly and Ryan, he’s established himself as one of the greatest emcees. In September 2024, Ryan replaced long-time and beloved Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak when he retired. Ryan has been doing a phenomenal job as the host of Wheel of Fortune, so I think it’s time for him to focus on that and move on from American Idol and give someone else a chance to host.

American Idol Needs A Host Refresh

The Change At The Judges’ Table Proves The Show Needs Even More Retooling

After over two decades on the air, American Idol has undergone many changes, but the one constant has been Ryan. He’s been cheering on the contestants at the auditions, helping them through Hollywood Week, and keeping the show on track during the live episodes for over twenty years, and he’s excellent at what he does. However, I believe that the change in judges after seven seasons, as Carrie Underwood replaced Katy Perry, proved that the show could use a host refresh too.

Having a shakeup at the judges’ table after watching seven seasons of Katy, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie proved to me that the show should be retooled every once in a while in order to keep it fresh, as it has with other judging changes in the past. Although I loved having Katy on the show, I think that Carrie has brought a fresh and new perspective that’s revived Luke and Lionel’s passion for the show as well. After twenty years, some people have tired of American Idol, but I think that a fresh face as the host could be just what the show needs to breathe new life into it.

I think that the best choice for a new host would be an American Idol alum. Someone like Kelly Clarkson or Jennifer Hudson, who already hosts their own talk show, could be phenomenal. In addition, alums with big personalities such as Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, Taylor Hicks, or Lauren Alaina could also spice up the show after all these years. While Ryan is superb at what he does, his hosting has become predictable, so bringing in a new person to emcee the show could really make things exciting again.

Ryan Has Done All He Can With American Idol

Ryan’s Time With The Show Has Run Its Course

While some might say that having Ryan as the host of American Idol over the past two decades has been a source of comfort because he’s the one constant in the ever-changing series, I think his time with the show has run its course. I believe that he’s done all that he can with the role, and he sometimes seems as though he’s going through the motions during the episodes after 23 seasons.

When I watch Ryan on Wheel of Fortune, I see a completely different side of him. He seems excited and eager to prove himself, and completely rejuvenated. I didn’t know if he’d be able to fill Pat Sajak’s shoes, but he was a natural from the first episode, especially because of his kind way of interacting with people. I still see that side of Ryan on American Idol, but there’s not much that he can bring to his role that’s fresh and new at this point. I think that Wheel of Fortune is a better challenge for him as a host, so he should put all of his energy into it and leave American Idol to focus on it.

I know that many people would miss Ryan if he ever left American Idol, but I also believe that the show could benefit from a new host. It might even be a good idea to have more than one person host the show, like in season 1, to bring different perspectives to the American Idol stage. Ryan has done a spectacular job with the show over the past 23 seasons, but I think it’s time for someone else to take over the reins in the future.

American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.

Earlier this month Wheel of Fortune star Vanna White admitted she had a decision to make when longtime host Pat Sajak called it a career after 43 years hosting the show, eventually turning the keys over to American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest.

“Am I going to stay? Do I go out with [Sajak] after 41 years together? It was going to be hard to work with somebody else, you know, after being so familiar with [Sajak],” she recalled. “It was just very hard for me to make that decision because I’m happy with my job. I still love my job. I decided to obviously stay on and I’m glad I did. There’s always contracts, there’s always controversy and all that stuff, but everything’s fine. I’m happy. We’re here.”

While the show is doing just fine without its longtime host, CBS is not. According to Deadline, CBS suffered a legal blow in its battle against Sony regarding distribution rights for the show.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted a preliminary injunction to Sony Pictures Television in the case, “effectively denying CBS’ bid to block the former from distributing the high-profile shows,” Peter White wrote.

According to the report, the court “believes Sony had the right to terminate the distribution deals, noting that licensing agreements should be limited to a two-year period but some deals, particularly in Australia and New Zealand, were for a ‘longer period of time.’”

CBS announced it planned an immediate appeal of the decision.

“We plan to appeal the decision immediately. This is only a preliminary ruling based on partial evidence, not the outcome of the full case. We’re confident once all the evidence is heard at trial, we will prevail on the merits. In today’s ruling, the court itself recognized the balance of harm tips in CBS’s favor, so we will ask the appellate court for a stay pending our appeal,” a CBS Media Ventures spokeswoman told Deadline.

Wheel of Fortune had a very rare occurrence on the game show. All three contestants spun Bankrupt in a row, one of them twice, as host Ryan Seacrest asked them if they were having issues with the wheel.

Andrew Goodman, from Larchmont, New York, played against Sierra Beck, from Nashville, and Jennell Ferguson, from Baltimore, Maryland, on Wednesday, April 9.

Goodman, a rabbi and higher education teacher, started out the game well as he solved the first toss-up and the first puzzle. During the Mystery Round, Beck didn’t pick up the Mystery wedge that could have given her $10,000, or possibly made her Bankrupt, but in hindsight, the Bankrupt wouldn’t have mattered.

However, the Prize Puzzle was where the bad luck started for everyone. Beck, a biochemistry student who started dental school, went first. She guessed a few letters before landing on Bankrupt. After guessing one letter, Goodman also landed on Bankrupt.

“It’s consistency, but we don’t want that kind,” Seacrest said.

Ferguson, self-proclaimed queen of karaoke, didn’t even get to guess a letter because she landed on Bankrupt right away. “Ok. everyone’s done it once,” Seacrest joked. But, the bad luck didn’t run out. When it rolled back around to Beck’s turn, she once again landed on Bankrupt.

“Do you guys have personal issues with the wheel?” the host asked. “What is happening tonight?”

However, Goodman turned the round around when he landed on the wedge that had two Bankrupts and a One Million Dollar slot on it. He luckily landed on the One Million Dollar spot, guessed “G,” and got to pick up the wedge. During his next turn, he was one wedge away from landing on Bankrupt again, but luckily landed on $600. Goodman finally solved “Eating barbeque and Tex-Mex,” and won a trip to Texas.

An X user reacted, “The three contestants spun bankrupt in a row! The Wheel of Fortune was not very fortunate.”

Beck solved two of the three Triple Toss-Ups. Goodman solved one. Despite Beck guessing the final puzzle, she didn’t have enough to make it to the Bonus Round with $8,400. Ferguson didn’t have any money at the end, but Wheel gave her $1,000 to leave with. Goodman was the night’s big winner with $17,850. He went into the Bonus Round with the Million Dollar wedge and chose “Event” for the category.

After Wheel gave him “R,S,T,L,N, and E,” Goodman chose “C,M,D, and O,” to round out his puzzle. After his letters popped up, the puzzle looked like ” _ _N_  _OL_D_ _.”

As the clock counted down, Goodman said, “It can’t be ‘pony.’” But he didn’t guess any words before the timer hit zero. The puzzle was “Bank Holiday.” He lost out on an additional $40,000. Goodman was only one spot away from the $1 million card, but he wouldn’t have won it anyway.

However, Goodman will have another chance on Friday because, for iHeartRadio week, the top three winners of the week get to come back on Friday and play again with multi-platinum artists Jason Derulo, Andy Grammer, and JoJo and will try and win more money.
