[OFFICIAL TRAILER] Vince Vaughn’s Nonnas Trailer: Heartfelt Comedy Promises a Feast of Food, Family and Love (Exclusive)

Vince Vaughn’s Nonnas Trailer: Heartfelt Comedy Promises a Feast of Food, Family and Love (Exclusive)

The Netflix movie, also starring Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco and Joe Manganiello, streams on Friday, May 9

The trailer for Nonnas is here to whet your appetite.

PEOPLE has an exclusive look at the trailer for the upcoming comedy, which tells the true story of Joe Scaravella, played by Vince Vaughn, who honors his late mother by opening a restaurant bearing her name. The twist: he hires nonnas — or grandmothers — to work in the kitchen and make the kind of food he loved as a boy.

The trailer begins with Joe struggling to find his footing after his mother’s passing. While looking through her recipes, he comes to the realization that “food is love.”

Despite his best friend Bruno, played by Joe Manganiello, initially disapproving of the idea, Joe opens an Italian restaurant and hires four nonnas — Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, Brenda Vaccaro, and Talia Shire — who make traditional dishes passed down through their families.

As the nonnas bond and bicker, they grow to understand that the restaurant is not just about food — it’s about forming a family. Because, as the trailer notes, the best memories are often served family-style.

Manganiello tells PEOPLE the cast even enjoyed family-style dinners while filming. “I would say on average four group 12-course meals per week,” he says.

“Vince and I would spend the mornings going to get coffee and talking, and then we’d spend the evenings kind of decompressing talking about what happened on set and what’s going on the next day. We’d just kind of walk around endlessly at night, yubi, walking off our lasagna,” he adds.

Also featured in the trailer for the film — cowritten by Liz Maccie and directed by her husband, Stephen Chbosky — are Drea de Matteo and Linda Cardellini.

“They were adorable,” Vaccaro says about her younger costars. “They were kind and sweet. I said to myself, ‘Oh, these guys are going to be with these old ladies.’ But they were just charming and delightful and kind, loving. They were really special.”

These strong relationships carry over into the film, which is set to be released on Mother’s Day weekend, serving as a reminder to cherish time with loved ones.

“Family coming together and sharing time with each other over food and that connection and that ability to just really enjoy each other is what it’s all about,” Maccie tells PEOPLE.

She adds, “Family isn’t necessarily blood-related. Family is just a coming together of community and that we can literally make each other better by just being present with each other. And having lasagna in the middle doesn’t make it so bad either.”

Nonnas streams on Netflix on Friday, May 9.

LAST MAN STANDING Star Breaks Down ‘Inside Joke’ on Tim Allen’s New Sitcom

LAST MAN STANDING’s Nancy Travis is revealing a subtle “inside joke” placed in a recent episode of SHIFTING GEARS she guest starred in.

“There’s a wink in the episode where you know that there’s a past,” Travis told Us Weekly about how the show acknowledged her past with Tim Allen. “People that are fans and loyal followers of Tim’s shows will really love that inside joke.”

The Tim Allen-led comedy tells the story of Matt, a car restorer who’s trying to adjust to life with his estranged daughter and her kids. Travis played Charlotte in the Feb. 12 episode 6: “Valentine’s.” In the episode, Charlotte tells Matt he reminds her of his “last man,” a nod to their show LAST MAN STANDING.

“You wonder how Nancy Travis is going to come back into this SHIFTING GEARS world and I think it’s a unique and clever way that they’ve engineered this,” Travis said. “I will say — even on LAST MAN STANDING — it’s almost like a trademark of Tim’s shows where there are winks. Because the people that have followed his career from HOME IMPROVEMENT, his stand-up comedy, LAST MAN STANDING and now SHIFTING GEARS, they know the details of these stories and these characters so deeply.”

“They’re looking for a little inside joke or nod,” she said. “There were many of them on LAST MAN STANDING so I knew there would be something. I just didn’t know where it would come or how it would come. Viewers will be looking for it too so it is a nice little bow they put on our scenes together.”

Allen is known for his roles as Tim Taylor in HOME IMPROVEMENT and Mike Baxter in LAST MAN STANDING, where he played Travis’ husband for almost 10 years.

“Tim is nothing if not loyal,” she said. “So it was great to walk on that set and see most of the crew was from LAST MAN STANDING. The director John Pasquin did so many episodes of LAST MAN STANDING and is a personal friend.”

“It was just so great to feel this sense of reunion,” Travis continued. “I wouldn’t be surprised if everybody from LAST MAN STANDING shows up on SHIFTING GEARS in one way or another. If Tim has his way, he’ll make sure that everybody from [costar Kat Dennings’] 2 BROKE GIRLS comes on too.”

Last Man Standing' Revival Teaser Jokes About Network Switch | Us Weekly

Though Travis was excited to star alongside Allen again, she was also glad that she wasn’t in the same old role as his wife.

“It was really fun to be able to just come in and have a whole wealth of knowledge and rapport working with Tim. In terms of comedic rhythm, knowing how to set up a joke and how to tell a story together, it was great to be able to take that and apply it to Charlotte.”

“I do enjoy working with him but I think that it’s fun to explore new and different relationships between characters. It is very meta — maybe too meta,” she told Us. “I really like what they created, which is a soulmate friend.”

“Maybe it’s like the ghost of his ex-wife — Vanessa — who comes in the spirit of somebody else,” she said. “But I like the nuances of what they created with this different relationship.”

The actress explored where she thinks her and Allen’s characters from LAST MAN STANDING would be now.

“When we would film a scene on LAST MAN STANDING, one would be as written and then we would joke around about what would be the most extreme version of this scene. We would call that version when the door slams shut,” she shared. “If this show was on network TV, it would probably be Vanessa and Mike in rocking chairs bickering. But who knows what it would be when the door slams shut if they were on cable?”

Travis’s episode doesn’t leave any hope for romance between her character and Allen’s, but Matt has another love interest making her way onto the show on Feb. 26. Jenna Elfman is set to play Eve Drake, owner of the dance studio across from Matt’s car shop.

The next guest star to appear on the show is Jay Leno, who, like Allen, is a classic car fan with an extensive personal collection. In the show, Leno plays a character bringing his car in for a repair. He previously played a mechanic in LAST MAN STANDING.

Tim Allen Hosts a ‘Last Man Standing’ Reunion on ‘Shifting Gears’ in New Look at Tonight’s Episode

Mike and Vanessa Baxter, it’s been a long time! Well, it’s not actually them, but you know what we mean. Tim Allen is being joined by a special guest in tonight’s episode of Shifting Gears — airing at 8 PM ET on ABC — and it’s none other than Nancy Travis, his on-screen wife for almost a decade on Allen’s previous hit sitcom, Last Man Standing. TV Line has posted a first look at the pair’s on-screen reunion, which features Travis guest starring as Charlotte, a spirited widow who crosses paths with Matt (Allen) in an unexpected waySounds sweet, doesn’t it? Well, the episode premise actually sounds rather emotional.

Tonight’s Shifting Gears episode sees Matt navigating Valentine’s Day, which he finds to be a particularly tough occasion since the loss of his beloved wife, Diane. When he takes a visit to her grave on Valentine’s Day, Charlotte enters his life in a way he didn’t see coming, which begs the question: could this be the beginning of something new for Matt, or is it just going to end up being a moment of shared understanding between two people with similar losses?

Travis isn’t the only familiar face making their way to Shifting Gears. ABC has lined up several major guest stars, including another Last Man Standing alum in the form of Jay Leno. The legendary comedian and car enthusiast will appear as himself in the penultimate episode of Season 1, airing March 12.

Meanwhile, Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg) is set to play another potential love interest for Matt. She’ll have a recurring role as Eve Drake, a choreographer and owner of the dance studio across from Parker Customs. Her first episode airs later this month on Wednesday, February 26.

    What is ‘Shifting Gears’ About?

Allen’s latest hit sitcom — the man just can’t miss — follows Matt Parker, a stubborn widower and owner of a classic car restoration shop. His life gets a major shake-up when his estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) moves back home with her two kids. The series follows their complicated journey toward reconciling, while Matt also tries to navigate the perils of being a grandfather without his wife beside him.

Past episodes of Shifting Gears are available to stream on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the US. New episodes air on Wednesdays on ABC. You can see a sneak peek at Nancy Travis’ appearance above.

While he dreams of marriage and a quiet life together, sources reveal McEntire is hesitant, believing she may be too old to walk down the aisle again.

Rex Linn Wants a Wedding, But Reba Says ‘No Rush’

Reba, who turned 70 in March, has built an iconic career spanning decades. Despite her success, she remains passionate about her work and shows no signs of slowing down. However, this drive for professional accomplishments appears to be creating tension in her personal life. Insiders claim that Rex, 68, has proposed multiple times, but she keeps delaying a clear answer.

Recently, when asked about the possibility of marriage, McEntire responded that she was content with their current situation. Rex, described by sources as a hopeless romantic, has envisioned a future where they step away from the spotlight, tie the knot, and enjoy life together. However, yubi, Reba reportedly believes they are at a stage where marriage is unnecessary.

“She adores Rex, but she sees marriage as something people do when they’re younger. At this point, she feels they’re happy as they are,” a source close to the couple revealed.

    Past Heartbreak Fuels Her Reluctance

Reba’s hesitation to remarry is deeply rooted in her past. Her 26-year marriage to her former manager, Narvel Blackstock, ended in 2015, with the singer later admitting their relationship had become more about business than love. That experience left a lasting impact on her perspective about commitment.

Now, as she continues to thrive in her career, sources say she is racing against time to achieve as much as possible before slowing down. The insider noted that while Rex understands her ambition, he still hopes she will reconsider.

“She finally found her dream guy—someone in show business who isn’t consumed by it. But she sees time catching up and wants to make the most of her career before stepping back,” the source added.

While the pair enjoy working together on NBC’s Happy’s Place, insiders say their off-screen discussions about marriage have become a sensitive topic. Rex remains hopeful that he and Reba will eventually exchange vows, but for now, the ball remains in her court.

“She loves him dearly, but she’s just not sure marriage makes sense at this stage of life. It’s something they need to work through,” said a close friend.

For now, fans can only wait and see whether Reba will take the leap or if her love story with Rex will remain one of companionship without a wedding ring.

Reba McEntire 'Refusing To Marry Rex Linn Despite His Repeated Pleas'

As country music icon Reba McEntire celebrated her 70th birthday in March, she found herself reflecting deeply on what comes next-and according to reports, it’s a crossroads laced with tension between personal happiness and professional ambition.

Sources close to McEntire reveal that the Queen of Country is feeling the weight of time in unexpected ways. While she remains driven by her music career and has no plans to slow down, her long-term partner, actor Rex Linn, is growing increasingly frustrated with her reluctance to settle down into married life.

A relationship caught between romance and reality

McEntire and Linn have been together for years and currently star in NBC’s new sitcom Happy’s Place. Despite their easy chemistry onscreen, sources say things are less smooth behind closed doors-especially when the future of their relationship comes up.

“Rex is a hopeless romantic and has poured his heart out to Reba about his vision for their future,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “He imagines a life where they both step away from the spotlight, get married, and enjoy their good fortune in peace.”

However, McEntire doesn’t quite share the same vision. When asked recently about the possibility of tying the knot with Linn, the I’m a Survivor singer gave a notably cool response: “I’m fine with the way we are.”

That noncommittal tone appears to be a source of heartache for Linn, who, yubi, according to insiders, is “at the end of his tether” with her ongoing hesitation.

“Reba tells Rex they are at an age where getting hitched seems silly, especially since she still has so much she wants to accomplish in her career,” the source continued. “It’s a major point of contention.”

Still chasing dreams after decades of stardom

McEntire‘s resistance to retirement or settling down is hardly surprising given her career trajectory. With a legendary catalog, multiple awards, and a résumé that includes music, acting, and business ventures, she’s as busy now as ever.

Insiders say her motivation stems not just from ambition but from a desire to make the most of the time she has left to create and perform.

“Reba sees Father Time catching up, so she’s in a race to accomplish as much as she can while she’s still kicking,” one friend explained.

ABC has given renewals to several of its current scripted shows … with one major exception.

The network has given pickups to 9-1-1Grey’s AnatomyThe RookieWill Trent, and Shifting Gears, the latter of which was considered to be on the bubble as of a trade report from several days ago. These renewals add to the already-announced pickups of Abbott Elementary and High Potential.

Notably missing from the list of renewals is the freshman medical drama Doctor Odyssey, though it has not been formally canceled yet, according to Variety.

The network also isn’t giving orders to any new series pilots aside from the 9-1-1 spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville.

9-1-1 is currently airing its eighth season, which is its second on the network after moving from Fox. Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy is in its 21st season, Will Trent is airing its third season, The Rookie is in its seventh, and Shifting Gears just concluded its first season.

Doctor Odyssey fans took to social media to plead for more. “Please renew Doctor Odyssey so we can have 15 seasons of Ody3,” one fan wrote, invoking the ‘ship name for the lead trio of characters. “Doctor Odyssey pleeeaseeeee pull through, I need my throuple,” another wrote.

ABC Renews 5 Shows, Leaving Only 1 With Its Fate Undecided

Reportedly, the hesitation on renewing Doctor Odyssey, which is, like 9-1-1, a part of the Ryan Murphy TV universe, is the expense of producing it. (The ratings reportedly remained relatively stable, with 5.96 million seven-day viewers for its September series premiere and 5.19 million as of March.)

Previously, Deadline revealed that renewal for the series was uncertain and the Season 1 finale is ending in a way that could serve as a series finale, just in case.

Meanwhile, Shifting Gears was not a lock for Season 2 after a drop in viewership following the premiere (from 7.8 million viewers in seven-day ratings for the January premiere to 5.17 million in March).

Kelsea Ballerini helped a concertgoer make a grand pregnancy reveal at a show in Tulsa, Okla.—and a video of the moment has gone viral.

On April 5, the country singer, 31, helped a fan named Maddy announce not only that she has a baby on the way but also her due date.

Ballerini paused the mid-show to take the expecting mom’s phone and film a selfie-style TikTok video while on the stage.

“Hello, my name is Kelsea Ballerini, and I’m here to tell you that Maddy’s pregnant!” the “Cowboys Cry Too” singer exclaimed. “She’s due in November!”

Unsurprisingly, the crowd went wild over the touching gesture.

“When @Kelsea Ballerini announces your first pregnancy!!! Is this real life? How do i go back to a normal life now,” Maddy captioned the clip, which attracted more than 249,000 views as of writing.

In the comments, fans could hardly contain their excitement, with one writing, “We were there! Congratulations, but let me tell you that is the greatest pregnancy announcement EVER👏🩷.”

Another shared, “Omg I was at last nights show and witnessed this amazing moment 😭congrats!!! ❤️.”

Someone else echoed, “I WAS THERE!!! Congratulations!!!” as a different TikTok user confessed, “Saw this last night live and cried it was so sweet!!! Congratulations!!”

Yet another declared, “Congratulations and I’m so glad she got to I had the chills! I have the full video.”

Later, the mom-to-be posted a follow-up TikTok video writing, “@Kelsea Ballerini deserves the world. She is truly the best person for the spotlight. Even her fans create a safe space and the whole concert experience was literally a dream.”

Gabby Windey Claims Michael Bublé “Eye-F–ked” Her During Guest Judge Stint on DWTS

Former Bachelorette star Gabby Windey recalled a behind-the-scenes moment with Michael Bublé during her time on Dancing With the Stars in 2022 that left a bad taste in her mouth.

Gabby Windey is sashaying away Michael Bublé.

The Bachelorette alum doesn’t have fond memories of the “Haven’t Met You Yet” singer’s stint as a guest judge when she was on season 31 of Dancing With the Stars back in October 2022 and prevented her from getting a perfect score on her rumba dance.

“Me talking mad s–t on Michael Bublé,” Gabby declared on the April 2 episode of Las Culturistas. “This is not the first, second, third, or fourth time. I will also scream it. Michael Bublé is beyond dead to me.”

“He, like, literally eye-f–ked me, looked me up and down on the way to my trailer,” she recalled. “You know what I mean? I’m like, ‘I’m for sure getting a 10 out of this guy.’”

But ultimately while she and partner Val Chmerkovskiy picked up a perfect score from Bruno Tonioli, Michael stopped just short giving her a 9. Hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers then asked the Traitors winner if she thought Michael—who has been married to Luisana Lopilato since 2011—was “trying to flirt” with her by giving her routine a nine.

“I don’t know,” Gabby—who married comedian Robby Hoffman in January—replied. “That is not the way to flirt with me. I don’t do that. I like the love bomb.”

E! News has reached out to Michael’s rep and hasn’t heard back.

As she mentioned, this isn’t the first time that the Long Winded podcast host—who was ultimately runner up on that DWTS season—has publicly called out the “Everything” singer.

During a recent episode of Cosmopolitan’s Cheap Shots series, Gabby was asked to name a male celebrity that she’s worked with who she hates, and she didn’t hesitate to say Michael’s name.

“He didn’t give me a perfect score on Dancing With the Stars,” she said in the segment published in March, “but he did look me up and down in my outfit, so whose side are you on?”

Gabby is no stranger to peeling back the curtain on her reality TV experiences. The 34-year-old recently got real about her time on season three The Traitors, too.

Andy Cohen was like, ‘What did you learn from all the winners?’” Gabby said in the March 13 episode of her Long Winded podcast. “I’m like, ‘I learned that misogyny is alive and well, and so is the patriarchy because no one took us seriously.’”

She specifically called out Dylan Efron as having contributed to that feeling.

“Everyone thought that Dylan was the lead faithful,” Gabby explained of her fellow winner. “So, I would try and talk to him like, ‘Hey, we’re on the same side.’ But his foot was on my neck. I could see him judging me in every conversation.”

Ultimately, however, the two were able to reach a truce—especially after Dylan realized just how wrong he was.

“By the end, I trusted her more than anyone,” he told Cosmopolitan following their season three victory alongside Lord Ivar Mountbatten and Dolores Catania. “So, it was cool that I got to live that experience out and learn from it.”
