The Price is Right’s Drew Carey blasted for ‘stupid’ moment in most basic round as fans ask ‘can we stop?’

THE Price is Right host Drew Carey has upset fans over a supposedly basic moment at the wheel spin.

The game show’s Instagram account shared a brief clip from Thursday’s episode.

During the footage, contestant Lynn spun The Big Wheel for a chance to win $1,000.

Drew, 66, continued the tradition from his late predecessor, Bob Barker, yubi, and asked the player to give a shout-out to their family.

“You wanna say hi?” the host asked.

After spinning the wheel, Lynn turned to the camera and listed her loved ones.

“To my husband Greg, my daughter Allison, my son-in-law Ryan, and my grandson Beau,” Lynn said during her shout-out.

She did not realize the wheel stopped and landed on the 100 mark.

Drew interrupted and pointed his finger at the camera.

Lynn screamed and jumped up and down on the The Price is Right stage.

She went on to win $10,000 after the next spin.

“Lady has pinpoint control at the wheel,” the video text read.

“That’s how it’s done,” the caption stated.

    THE BACKLASH

In the comments section, critics slammed the wholesome part of the contestants saying hi to their family while the wheel is spinning.

“Can we stop with the ‘Say hi?’ and build up the excitement with the contestant as a good amount approaches? It’s so lackluster!” one critic trolled.

“Especially when the contestant goes on for like five minutes. It’s kind of stupid. And cringy!” another critic added.

“It takes their attention away from a life-changing moment in their lives when cash is about to enter the chat,” another critic argued.

    The Price is Right Hosts

The Price is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.

Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)

Drew Carey – October 2007 to present

Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes, also hosted the nighttime version

Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special

“If you’re still talking while the wheel is done, you should be disqualified!” a fourth person wrote.

“It’s annoying! This lady was so busy talking! [Lynn] didn’t even realize she was about to win!” a commentator chimed.

In 1972, Bob became the host and retired in 2007, which is when Drew took over.

    ‘SERIOUSLY?’

This is not the only time a contestant has angered viewers.

In late May, a player wasted his turn with an over-the-top bid.

Contest Nicholas had to guess the price of a set of workout equipment, including a vertical knee-raise station and a spin bike.

“I’m gonna say $1 million,” Nicholas said as he shocked the audience.

    “Seriously?,” Drew asked.

The actual retail value for the workout equipment was $1,798, which was nowhere near Nicholas’ guess.

One viewer blasted the “stupidest bid ever,” while another ranted, “$ 1 million for an exercise bike? Come on.”

Drew Carey knows he’s the right man for the job.

The television host, 65, discussed his future on “The Price Is Right” during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the CBS Fall Schedule Celebration on Thursday.

Carey has been hosting the beloved game show since 2007 when he took over from Bob Barker.

“I think Bob made a mistake by retiring,” Carey added. “I’m not gonna make that same mistake.”

“As long as my heart is ticking and they want me to be on the show, I think I’m gonna do ‘The Price Is Right.’ I just love it,” he said. “I think I was made for it.”

“The Price Is Right” is the longest-running game show in the US. It premiered in 1972 with Barker as host, a role he continued to fill for 35 years. His final episode aired on June 15, 2007.

Barker died in August 2023 at the age of 99 after battling Alzheimer’s disease.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, yubi, has left us,” Barker’s longtime rep, Roger Neal, confirmed to The Post at the time.

Barker never publicly announced he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but did star in a 2013 PSA for PETA which claimed not eating meat could help prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

After Barker’s tragic death, Carey paid tribute to the late TV host in a statement that he shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Very sad day for the Price Is Right family, and animal lovers all over the world,” Carey wrote. “There hasn’t been a day on set that I didn’t think of Bob Barker and thank him. I will carry his memory in my heart forever. #RIPBobBarker We love you.”

Carey also raved about his predecessor a month after Barker’s death in an interview with ET on the “Price Is Right” set.

“He was so good at this,” Carey said in September 2023. “He was so good at relating to people and getting them to be relaxed and be themselves. You watch his demeanor and his attitude. He never seemed stressed.”

In that same interview, Carey shared how he’s improved as the show’s host.

“I’ve learned to relax while I’m onstage and not be so uptight about what’s going on,” he explained. “I just have to own the show and make it like my living room, because he was so comfortable in front of a camera.”

‘Price Is Right’ Audience Members Reveal On-Set Secrets From Filming

    Come on down!

Two diehard fans of The Price Is Right named Andrew and Amanda took to YouTube to share their behind-the-scenes journey on the beloved game show.

After applying to be audience members on The Price Is Right in December 2024, the married couple got their wish in March!

“Ever since kindergarten, I would have my chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwich and watch The Price is Right,” Andrew gushed in the video. “I wanted to be on the show, or at least the studio audience.”

During the pair’s time on set, they learned a bit about the lay of the land! According to Andrew, host Drew Carey, who stays in his trailer between filming, is all about interacting with fans during commercial breaks. In fact, the social media personality called Carey, 66, “sweet, genuine, and nice.”

Although Amanda and Andrew didn’t get chosen out of the audience, they still had a blast — and spilled some secrets!

For starters, The Price is Right, which takes an hour and a half to film, is shot in the back of a church in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Moreover, outside of the staging area there’s a lobby with refreshments.

Fellow fans of The Price Is Right were happy to engage with Andrew and Amanda’s content while reminiscing about their own love of the show.

The Price Is Right, originally hosted by Bob Barker, premiered in September 1972. Drew Carey took over hosting in 2007. In February of this year, the series hit 10,000 episodes.

Reba McEntire’s decision to step away from a HALLMARK OF HER IDENTITY has left fans with a strong sense of loss

Reba McEntire Ditched Her Signature Bright Red Hair for This Party

This throwback photo of the Happy’s Place star shows her without her bright red hair.

In 2005, Reba McEntire temporarily ditched her iconic bright red hair color for something equally stunning.

Back then, Reba was a massive sitcom on TV, thanks in no small part to McEntire’s fantastic performance. In fact, Reba was such a success that many elements of NBC’s new show Happy’s Place (also starring McEntire) were inspired and influenced by it!

On January 22, 2005, McEntire attended a party in Burbank, California for the Reba sitcom and sported a new hair color for the occasion. The country queen swapped bright red for a darker, gingery-blonde color with warm caramel undertones. It looks like there may even be some highlights in the mix, too. Just gorgeous!

It doesn’t matter whether McEntire is sitting in a Coach’s Chair on The Voice, walking a red carpet, or starring alongside her besties on Happy’s Place: She can pull off any hairstyle — and any hair color — with ease.

McEntire’s willingness to experiment with hair colors harkens back to one of her life mantras: have fun. In a 2023 interview with Parade, she revealed that it’s one of her favorite pieces of advice to dispense.

“Have fun,” she advised. “I was so serious when I had my music career in the ’70s and ’80s. Mainly the ’80s. I missed out on a lot of fun times. So, all the kids I mentor now? I tell them to have fun. Write down everything you’re doing because it will fly by so fast that you won’t remember.”

Despite her daring hairstyles throughout her career, McEntire said in a 2024 interview with E! News that she wishes she had the confidence younger stars have now when she was starting out.

“I don’t like trends,” McEntire confessed. “The younger generation, they’re more confident than I was at their age, and I’m so happy for them. It takes guts, it takes stamina, and it takes courage to be comfortable in your own skin.”

Regardless, McEntire is happy to report that her confidence is solid now.

“I’m very proud of how old I am or how young I am,” McEntire explained. “Real beauty means that you’re comfortable in your own skin. And if you’re confident and comfortable, you’re gonna feel beautiful.”

Shifting Gears Season 2: Confirmation & Everything We Know

A composite image of Tim Allen smiling in front of Allen and Kat Dennings by a car in Shifting Gears

ABC’s uproarious new sitcom Shifting Gears features TV legend Tim Allen in one of its lead roles, and now the father-daughter comedy has been renewed for season 2. Debuting in the early days of 2025, the series follows a widower named Matt (Allen) who reunites with his estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her two kids when she hits the end of her rope and needs somewhere to stay. While the pair try to work out their differences, Riley tries to figure out what she’s going to do with her life, and Matt tries to adjust to his new living situation.

While it might be getting generally bad reviews, Shifting Gears has one big thing going for it, that being the TV starpower of Tim Allen. The Toy Story and The Santa Clause star has rarely missed in his TV ventures, with long-running sitcoms like Home Improvement and Last Man Standing being the comic actor’s true wheelhouse. This will certainly continue in ABC’s latest sitcom outing, and Allen alone might have been the only thing Shifting Gears needed to score a season 2 renewal.

Just a few days after it was announced that the show was on the bubble, the latest news confirms that Shifting Gears has been renewed for season 2. Troubling reports surfaced in late March that indicated Shifting Gears had seen a sharp decline in ratings across the first 10 episodes of season 1. Despite this, ABC opted to pick up another season, and renewed Shifting Gears alongside Grey’s Anatomy9-1-1The Rookie, and Will Trent. No further details are known about season 2 yet, but information will likely come soon.

A Second Gear For Shifting Gears

Tim Allen as Matt, looking worried, and deep in thought, in Shifting Gears

If ratings continue to slide into season 2, the series likely won’t be around for season 3.

Though Shifting Gears got off to a blazing hot start, it became clear as season 1 wore on that ratings were dipping considerably. However, ABC opted to renew the show in April 2025, and green-lit the Tim Allen comedy for a second season. This renewal is a good sign that the show can recover, but it’s clear that ABC will be keeping a close eye on Shifting Gears in season 2 to make sure their investment was worthwhile. If ratings continue to slide into season 2, the series likely won’t be around for season 3.

No production information is known at this time, but it can be assumed that ABC is aiming to have the show air in the midseason slotShifting Gears wasn’t part of the network’s fall slate, and based on the ratings, it would make sense to leave it for January or February 2026. Midseason shows are an important part of any network’s yearly success, and Shifting Gears just doesn’t have the momentum to take a fall schedule slot from one of ABC’s bigger series.

Shifting Gears Season 2 Cast Details

Expect The Main Ensemble To Return

Since sitcoms often rely on a familiar ensemble from season to season, it’s expected that the main cast of Shifting Gears will return to reprise their roles in season 2. Leading the show as its star (and principal draw), Tim Allen will certainly return as widower and auto mechanic shop owner Matt Parker. Coming back to play Matt’s adult daughter Riley, MCU and Two Broke Girls star Kat Dennings will undoubtedly be back. Meanwhile, it’s almost certain that Sean William Scott will be on hand to once again play Gabriel, a close family friend of Matt and Riley’s who works for Matt’s shop.

Daryl “Chill” Mitchell adds to the supporting cast as Matt’s longtime employee and right-hand-man, Stitch, while youngsters Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis play Riley’s kids, Carter and Georgia, respectively. The series will likely follow in the footsteps of other sitcoms and employ a wide range of guest stars from week to week, but it’s unclear which of those could stick around. Often, sitcom guests become full-fledged supporting characters over the long run, but it’s too early in the show’s run to speculate.

The cast of Shifting Gears season 2 will probably include:

Shifting Gears Season 2 Story Details

    More Generational Clashes Are Expected

Georgia (Barrett Margolis), Matt (Tim Allen), and Carter (Maxwell Simkins) playing video games in Shifting Gears.

Shifting Gears is hardly the most groundbreaking sitcom of all time, and with that in mind, it will likely continue to deal with familiar themes and ideas going forward. The heart of the story is the slowly growing relationship between Matt and Riley, but the two still have a long way to go before they can fully heal 15 years of separation. On top of that, they’re both dealing with their own grief as they separately try to deal with the loss of Matt’s wife (Riley’s mom). While this could be the thing that ultimately brings them together, it could be another wedge as well.

Meanwhile, Riley will probably continue to struggle with deciding what to do with her life, and she may try out various occupational and educational paths throughout upcoming episodes. Gabriel is potentially being set up as a love interest for the free-spirited mom of two, but it remains to be seen if sparks will ever actually fly. Shifting Gears also explores Matt’s growing relationship with his grandchildren, and the bulk of the show’s humor comes from his old-fashioned ways clashing with the youth of today.

New Shifting Gears Image Reveals Another Last Man Standing Reunion For Tim Allen, Episode & Character Details Confirmed

Kat Dennings as Riley and Tim Allen as Matt in Shifting Gears.

Tim Allen’s Shifting Gears is setting up another Last Man Standing reunion, with a new guest star joining the cast for a special appearance. The ABC comedy follows Allen as Matt Parker, a widowed auto shop owner whose quiet life is upended when his estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her children suddenly move into his home. The Shifting Gears cast has already welcomed several sitcom alumni, including Dharma & Greg‘s Jenna Eflman, and now another familiar face is set to appear in an upcoming episode.

As revealed by ABC, Last Man Standing alum Jay Leno will cameo in an upcoming episode of Shifting Gears, appearing as himself. The episode sees Leno bringing his car into Matt’s auto restoration shop for repairs. Leno previously played Joe, yubi, a mechanic, on Last Man Standing, and his longtime friendship with Allen—both having risen to fame as stand-up comedians in the 1980s—makes his guest spot a natural fit. You can find the first-look image below:

What Jay Leno’s Cameo In Shifting Gears Means

A Touch Of Nostalgia For ABC’s Latest Sitcom

Leno’s appearance is another example of Shifting Gears embracing Last Man Standing nostalgia while working to establish its own identity. The show frequently features familiar faces, including Last Man Standing’s Nancy Travis, who will appear in episode 6. The March 12 episode with Leno, titled “Gummies,” will weave multiple storylines together, including Riley discovering weed gummies in Carter’s pocket and seeking unexpected advice from Matt. Meanwhile, Eve (Elfman) inadvertently puts Gabriel and Stitch in a difficult situation after asking them to donate to a charity auction.

A composite image of Tim Allen smiling in front of Allen and Kat Dennings by a car in Shifting Gears

While reviews for Shifting Gears have noted its overreliance on Allen’s well-established comedic persona and familiar tropes, the ABC series has nonetheless emerged as a ratings’ powerhouse, even surpassing The Conners in viewership. ABC’s strategy of appealing to Allen’s loyal fanbase has proven successful, highlighting his signature brand of humor. However, for Shifting Gears to ensure its success in the long run, it may need to introduce fresh dynamics beyond nostalgic reunions. One step in that direction appears to be the addition of Raising Hope alum Lucas Neff, who plays Riley’s estranged husband.

Our Take On The Leno-Allen Reunion

A Fun Nod To The Past

Allen and Leno’s reunion is a fun throwback for longtime fans, bringing back the comedic chemistry that made their Last Man Standing run an enjoyable watch. While Shifting Gears continues to benefit from nostalgia, it risks becoming too dependent on familiar faces. The ABC sitcom has succeeded in ratings, but to maintain momentum, it should establish a stronger identity beyond its ties to Last Man Standing. Nonetheless, Leno’s cameo will surely be a fun moment while Shifting Gears proves it can stand on its own.

  • Fans were deeply saddened by Kaitlyn Dever’s sudden departure from Last Man Standing. Now that the reason has been revealed, it has only intensified their grief

Fans were deeply saddened by Kaitlyn Dever’s sudden departure from Last Man Standing. Now that the reason has been revealed, it has only intensified their grief

Why Kaitlyn Dever’s Eve Baxter Left Last Man Standing

Tim Allen as Mike Baxter and Kaitlyn Dever as Eve Baxter in Last Man Standing ABC

2011 was a huge year for Kaitlyn Dever. Though she was only 14 at the time, the up-and-coming actor booked small parts in two high profile movies (“Bad Teacher” and Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar”), popped as tough Kentucky cookie Loretta McCready in the magnificent second season of “Justified,” and joined the main cast of Tim Allen’s new sitcom “Last Man Standing.” That’s quite a range of shows and films, yubi and this ensured Dever would get to flaunt her burgeoning talent all the way across the demographic spectrum.

For families with young viewers, “Last Man Standing” was the kind of relentlessly inoffensive sitcom they could watch together without worrying there’d be a ribald gag or profanity. Say what you will about Allen (and I’m quite certain the cocaine dealers he snitched on in 1978 to avoid serving a length prison sentence have said plenty about him), he knows what his audience expects from him, and, as we know from the legitimately great work he’s done (“Galaxy Quest” and the “Toy Story” movies), the man knows his way around a joke. He possesses an amiable presence and ace comedic timing.

Dever does, too, so it’s hardly surprising to learn that the veteran Allen quickly identified her talent and took her under his wing over six seasons while she played his youngest daughter on “Last Man Standing.” If you’ve watched this show, you know this warmth extends to their characters. Allen’s Mike Baxter is a manly dude who, of his three daughters, obviously likes Dever’s tomboy Eve the best. So why did Dever leave the show after season 6?

When Last Man Standing was briefly cancelled, Kaitlyn Dever found work elsewhere

Tim Allen as Mike Baxter has a heart-to-heart with Eve Baxter in Last Man Standing ABC

At the close of its sixth season, “Last Man Standing” was the second highest rated sitcom on ABC. The series was a cinch for renewal. So the entire television industry was left gasping when the network unceremoniously brought the axe down in 2017.

Some suspected this was a response to Allen going on “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” and comparing his plight as a Hollywood conservative at the outset of the first Trump administration to Germans who opposed the Nazis in 1930s Germany. Regardless of the rationale, the show was dead, which left its cast and crew scrambling to find new gigs.

The timing couldn’t have been better for Dever. She’d just entered her twenties and was set to showcase her considerable talents in projects that were a tad weightier or more clever than “Last Man Standing.” So she went out and booked roles in “The Front Runner” and “Beautiful Boy,” which wound up being a problem for Allen and company when Fox announced they were bringing back “Last Man Standing” for its seventh season.

It was too late at this juncture to get Dever back as a series regular. Allen understood, but he couldn’t help but get melancholy over the departure of the young talent he’d helped nurture. As Allen told Fox News in 2020:

“We had an episode … where we had to change Eve’s room and it reminded me of real life. You know, your kid’s not coming back. They’ll visit, they’re not going anywhere, but they’re not coming back to the bedroom they grew up in. It was a really hard one for me to do based on my oldest daughter when she left.”

Happily for Allen, Dever wasn’t gone for good. She became a recurring cast member, and made sure she was available for the emotional series finale. Showrunner Kevin Abbott wouldn’t have had it any other way. “Tim [Allen] and Kaitlyn have always had such a special relationship,” he told The Wrap in 2021. “Not that he didn’t have it with the rest of the crew and everything, but I think he felt very fatherly to Kaitlyn.”

Dever has since become one of the brightest lights of her generation via terrific performances in “Booksmart,” “Rosaline” and “No One Will Save You.” She will no doubt be reinforcing this perception over the next two months with her portrayal of Abby in “The Last of Us” season 2.

The Fate of Reba McEntire’s New Comedy Series ‘Happy’s Place’ Has Been Decided

    HAPPY'S PLACE --

If she thought being a single mom who worked two jobs was tough, well, Reba McEntire is about to have her hands even more full, thanks to NBC giving the Season 2 greenlight for her hit comedy series, Happy’s Place. The queen is officially back, as Deadline broke the news that the multi-camera sitcom will return to screens with a fresh set of episodes, continuing to follow the story of McEntire’s Bobbie and the rest of the gang running the titular bar.

The announcement secures what fans were hoping for when, at the end of November, Happy’s Place was given a full season order, which showed plenty of promise for a renewal. It’s a great time to be a fan of new comedy titles on the network, as just one month ago the workplace comedy, St. Denis Medical, was also given the okay for a sophomore season, meaning NBC will have plenty of fresh content for viewers next fall.

As the show’s theme song says, Happy’s Place invites audiences to come on down and rest their weary heads and hearts to enjoy a pint or two from the friendliest bar staff around. Set in Tennessee, the series follows McEntire’s Bobbie, yubi who has just inherited her father’s bar — the titular Happy’s Place. After stepping inside the doors to take over the family staple, Bobbie comes to discover that she’s not the only family member in her dad’s will, but that he is surprising her post-death with the reveal of a half-sister who she never knew about.

A few decades younger than Bobbie, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo) is eager to get to know her older sibling and learn the ins and outs of the bar business — much to the initial chagrin of Bobbie. The series also stars Melissa Peterman (Reba), Rex Linn (Young Sheldon), Tokala Black Elk (American Primeval), and Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily).

Fans have been happy to have McEntire back on their television screens in sitcom form, quickly popularizing the Friday night series and helping the 8 PM slot grow by 54%. In the four months since the show’s premiere episode, the title is up 338% from that first airing, with a whopping 17.6 million viewers since October 18. Hitting a high note with critics as well, the first season currently holds a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It’s a Good Time to Be a Reba Fan

On top of the news of the Happy’s Place renewal, it was announced just last month that the legendary singer would also be headlining a big-screen adaptation of Fannie Flagg’s New York Times bestselling novel, The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion.

Right now, details on the project are sparse, but we know that McEntire will both star and serve as a producer, with Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise) directing.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates surrounding the second season of Happy’s Place.
