Melissa Peterman and Christopher Rich reveals an INCREDIBLE SECRET about Happy’s Place costar Reba McEntire

Did Reba McEntire’s ‘Reba’ Co-Star Just Imply She’s Not a Real Redhead?

Reba McEntire‘s red hair has been her signature look for her whole career — so much so that all you need to do to pull off a convincing Reba Halloween costume is to don a red wig!

Did Reba McEntire's Co-Star Just Imply She's Not a Real Redhead?

But during a recent ET Online interview with McEntire and her Reba co-stars Melissa Peterman and Christopher Rich, Rich took some lighthearted shots at both the women, including a joke that implied McEntire’s hair color might not be quite what it seems.

    <cs-card “=”” class=”card-outer card-full-size ” card-fill-color=”#FFFFFF” card-secondary-color=”#E1E1E1″ gradient-angle=”112.05deg” id=”native_ad_inarticle-1-e156835c-9433-48b7-a3a6-bdf0cebec8e9″ size=”_2x_1y” part=””>

It actually started as a joke aimed at Peterman, where Rich said, “Well, wait, you’re not really blonde, though.”

But then, he turned in McEntire’s direction, adding, “I’m giving away too much. Because she’s actually more blonde than you are, in real life.”

“She was a little towhead, this one. Back in Oklahoma. Back in the day,” he said, patting McEntire on the leg.

Rich stopped there, though throughout the interview, yubi, he cracked a few more jokes at their expense, including one jab about how his entire paycheck from his acting roles might not cover the cost of their makeup.

Of course, Rich has known McEntire and Peterman for decades, since he starred as Brock Hart — McEntire’s character’s ex-husband, who leaves her for Peterman’s character — on the beloved 2000s sitcom.

They’re all close friends, and in the same interview where Rich joked about McEntire’s hair, he also credited her with helping him restart his career after he suffered a devastating stroke years ago.

Rich added that during his years-long healing process, McEntire and Peterman never stopped inviting him to industry events or spending time with him as friends. He credits her with his eventual decision to return back to acting after a hiatus of about a decade, to make a guest spot on her new Happy’s Place sitcom.

He also says that he frequently spends time with McEntire and her boyfriend Rex Linn, including watching football games together.

“I spend a lot of time at her and Rex’s place, watching the Longhorns. Hook ’em! They didn’t make it though,” he explains with a sympathetic gesture toward McEntire.

As for the question of McEntire’s a real redhead? Well, only her hairdresser knows for sure — though you’d be hard pressed to find old photos of her with any shade of hair lighter than strawberry.

‘Last Man Standing’ Cast: Where Are They Now? Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Kaitlyn Dever and More

Last Man Standing captivated audiences for nearly a decade, following the lives of Mike and Vanessa Baxter, played by Tim Allen and Nancy Travis. Now, years after the show’s conclusion in 2021, fans still wonder what might have become of the beloved sitcom cast.

Last Man Standing has ended, but the show’s stars including Tim Allen, Nancy Travis and Kaitlyn Dever have remained on our screens.

The sitcom started out on ABC and starred Allen as an executive at a sporting goods store chain in Denver, Colorado. Mike Baxter was a married father of three daughters and a grandfather to his eldest daughter’s son. Last Man Standing aired on the network from 2011 to 2017 before moving to Fox for three more seasons.

Last Man Standing marked Allen’s return to the sitcom world after playing Tim “The Toolman” Taylor on Home Improvement from 1991 to 1999.

“The word that keeps me alive is ‘grateful.’ I love what I do. I get far more enjoyment out of entertaining people than anything monetary,” Allen exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020. “I love the live audience we have. I tell them every night, ‘This is old-school stuff, what television and broadcast started with.’ I don’t know the future, but this [show] is rare.”

Allen praised Last Man Standing for not trying to reinvent the wheel.

“We did the same thing as we did with Home Improvement. It’s all about the relationships — we don’t get into topical stuff. But [now], I’ve just got girls, so you see how a man differs in his perspective when he has so many strong women around him,” he continued. “We never make fun [of each other]. It’s an affectionate family. I like the fact that we honor and make fun — at the same time — marriage, institution, kids, babies, people. But in the same way, we honor it. We’re not being snarky about it.”

Happy's Place's Melissa Peterman Still Wants 'Reba' Reunion

The longtime friends and Reba co-stars are set to reunite on a new sitcom, Happy’s Place, and on Tuesday, ET’s Deidre Behar was the first to break the news to Peterman that their pilot had been picked up to series by Peacock.

“Amazing!” the actress reacted. “I get to work with Reba and our team and I’m so excited!”

While the new series won’t be related to Reba in any way, there are familiar faces both in front of and behind the camera. In addition to Peterman, most of the creative team leads — executive producers Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis, as well as writer Kevin Abbott — also worked on McEntire’s eponymous sitcom, which ran on The WB and The CW from 2001-07.

“It’s whole new characters, a whole new scenario and a lot of our same team,” Peterman said of Happy’s Place. “The dynamic is gonna be that dynamic that we have, that natural one.”

“You’re lucky if you get one chance to work with people you love and have it be received so well and still sort of live on,” she reflected, “but I’ve had more than that and I mean, I feel like the luckiest.”

Happy’s Place — on which McEntire also serves as an executive producer — will star The Voice coach as Bobbie, a woman who inherits her father’s restaurant following his death. Things get interesting — and presumably hilarious — when she discovers that her business partner in the endeavor is a half-sister she never knew she had.

Hocus Pocus 2 star Belissa Escobedo stars as Bobbie’s younger half-sister, Isabella, while Peterman plays Gabby, a bartender at Bobbie’s newly inherited restaurant. Happy’s Place is also set to star Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and McEntire’s real-life beau, Rex Linn — who previously co-starred with Peterman on Young Sheldon.

Of her matchmaking abilities between her co-star and her longtime pal, Peterman admitted, “I like to take a little credit.”

Mostly, the actress admitted, she’s happy to see McEntire happy in her new relationship — remarking how much their decades-long friendship has meant to her.

“She’s like coming home,” Peterman shared, tearing up. “I think that in this business, we have a lot of ‘Hollywood friends’ — friends that you share just the good stuff with. I think I knew that when we started sharing real-life stuff, that it was forever. I know she’s got my back whether we ever work together again. She is on my side always, and she knows I’m on her’s.”

[SO SAD] McEntire has now offered a disheartening update on plans for a Reba revival. Nevertheless, there is still some hope. Read what she said below.

Reba Star Reveals Why Sitcom Revival Hasn’t Happened With New Update

    Reba show cast

Lead actress Reba McEntire explains why there has been little development on the Reba revival. The 2000 WB sitcom starred McEntire as the eponymous protagonist, a single mom who takes over the responsibility of her family after her husband Brock (Christopher Rich) leaves her for a much younger dental hygienist, Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman).

Reba proved to be a hit ratings-wise for The WB, but after season 5 the show was almost canceled when The WB and UPN merged into The CW, although ultimately it was picked up for a sixth season at the new network.

Even at The CW, Reba maintained its position as the channel’s most-watched sitcom, with its original runs and encores both drawing scores of viewers. However, in 2007, The CW surprisingly axed Reba, leaving the cast and fans in shock. The series now lives on in syndication, though there remains hope for a proper return. In July, McEntire offered hope for a potential Reba revival, saying that she, alongside some of her colleagues, were pushing hard to make the show happen.

However, according to Deadline, McEntire has now offered a disheartening update on plans for a Reba revival. As the actress reveals, the Reba cast remains busy with other projects, so it’s hard to get them together. Nevertheless, there is still some hope. Read what she said below.

“So many obstacles. The TV business changes so much that sometimes reboots are hot and then they’re not. Plus getting everyone scheduled together is also hard. Steve Howie is very busy, and so is Joanna Garcia. Mellisa [Peterman] is doing wonderful and here we are making a movie together. I guess timing and schedule will dictate that in the future.”

    Reba cast

While the update likely disappoints those longing for a Reba revival, McEntire is right about the logistics being hard to figure out. First, the show was produced under the banner of 20th Century Fox, and with the company being absorbed into Disney, the new bosses might not see the appeal.

Reboots and revivals are undoubtedly hot these days, but broadcasters and streaming services tend to prioritize properties that have had mass followings during their runs, and with Reba not being a big-four sitcom, some might not perceive a revival as a safe bet. The sitcom was indeed a bit hit for its channel and parent networks, but with The CW undergoing a leadership change itself, the chances are not so bright that the new management would want to invest in a cult favorite over the more popular hits that are also ripe for a reboot treatment.

Despite the discouraging news, McEntire is not giving up hope on the possibility of a Reba revival. The show has a better shot at happening if all cast members are on board. However, as the star mentioned, the original Reba actors have been quite busy.

Once McEntire’s cast mates are through with their commitments, the team can sit down and work out the story details, as well as a potential schedule for the revival. That said, progress on the Reba reboot seems to be a developing situation, and whether the show happens will become clear in subsequent months if a proper plan takes shape and some concrete conversations happen.

Scarlett Pomers: What Happened To Kyra From Reba (& Where The Actress Is Now)

Blended image of Kyra Hart (Scarlett Pomers) overtop a background of question marks and the Reba cast

Scarlett Pomers played a pivotal role in the sitcom Reba (2001-2007) as Kyra Hart, so her absence from the sitcom’s fifth season was notable, causing fans to wonder what happened. The six-season show was one of its kind, a multi-cam sitcom filmed in front of a large studio audience. At its anchor was country superstar Reba McEntire as Reba Hart, a single mom of three kids whose husband leaves her for his dental hygenist.

Many Star Trek fans recognize Pomers as the young Naomi Wildman in Star Trek: Voyager, and the child actress was right at home when she joined the cast of Reba as a teenager in the role of Kyra. Reba’s middle child, Kyra was known for her sharp wit, sarcastic humor, yubi, and rebellious nature. Kyra’s character often challenged her mother and older sister, bringing an edge to the show’s family dynamics. As one of the key characters, Kyra’s quick comebacks and teenage rebellion endeared her to fans, and she was sorely missed in season 5.

Scarlett Pomers Sought Treatment For An Eating Disorder

Scarlett Pomers as Kyra in Reba (2001) looking sad

Pomers had appeared as Kyra in every season of Reba up until season 5, where her character was only in two episodes. This absence was due to Pomers’ battle with anorexia nervosa, a serious eating disorder that led to her weight dropping dangerously low. In late 2005, she sought treatment and took time off from the show to focus on her health, checking herself into a treatment facility. After leaving the facility in 2006, Pomers went public about her struggles, and she used her platform to raise awareness about eating disorders (via Wide Open Country).

Following her recovery, Pomers became an ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association, using her experience to help others struggling with similar issues. She also launched Arch-Angels, a charity dedicated to raising funds for those who cannot afford treatment for eating disorders. Pomers started the organization after witnessing families go bankrupt trying to save their children from these life-threatening conditions. She told The Baltimore Sun,

A lot of people only think it affects women – young, white women. It can happen to anybody, and it does happen to a lot of people. No one’s safe.

How Kyra’s Absence Was Explained On Reba

Kyra Says She “Went To Get Something To Eat”

The cast of Reba posing for a promotional image

Scarlett Pomers did return to Reba for the sitcom’s sixth and final season, and was greeted by enthusiastic applause from the live studio audience. Rather than offer a lengthy explanation as to Kyra’s absence, Reba simply asks her daughter, “Where have you been?. The middle Hart child replies, “I went to get something to eat.”

This joke was later repeated throughout the episode, an obvious reference to Pomers’ eating disorder. While this may seem like it was in poor taste, Pomers has never publically spoken out about it, and her willingness to come back to the show after departing in season 5 suggests she was fine with the joke.

    Where Scarlett Pomers Is Now

Scarlett Pomers Left Hollywood & Has Pursued Other Artistic Endeavors

Scarlett Pomers as Kyra Hart standing by the fridge and frowning in Reba

After Reba ended, Scarlett Pomers continued to focus on advocacy and raising awareness about eating disorders, following her personal battle with anorexia. She also made the decision to permanently retire from acting and explore other interests. In an interview with StarTrek.com, Pomers was asked if she was finished with Hollywood, and she replied,

Pretty much. I’ve been doing some voiceover work here and there, but for the most part I’m focused on the music and photography. That keeps me busy and happy, and I can make enough of a living doing it.

Pomers has thoroughly embraced her passion for music, forming the band SCARLETT, which played various event venues in Los Angeles. She also released her debut EP, Insane, in 2010, though she confessed in the StarTrek.com interview that it was a pure passion project and she wasn’t in it for the money.

In addition to her photography pursuits, Pomers also opened an online jewelry store, The Mermaid’s Lure, though it doesn’t appear to be selling more products. However, Pomers has recently resurfaced on social media, and has begun posting on her Facebook and Instagram pages again. In her Instagram bio, she describes herself as “Writer. Director. Horror enthusiast,” so it could very well be possible that directing a horror movie is in Pomers’ post-Reba future.

  • ABC Plans To Try Pairing Tim Allen’s ‘Last Man Standing’ and Reba McEntire’s ‘Malibu Country’

ABC Plans To Try Pairing Tim Allen’s ‘Last Man Standing’ and Reba McEntire’s ‘Malibu Country’

TV Review: ABC Pairs ‘Last Man Standing,’ ‘Malibu Country’ on Fridays

I wasn’t a big fan of “Last Man Standing” when it premiered over a year ago but it looks like a landmark program when compared to the vastly inferior new sitcom with which it has been paired, the new “Malibu Country” with Reba (who apparently goes by one name now) and Lily Tomlin.

Both shows hearken back to the old-fashioned TGIF brand of programming, complete with laugh tracks and borderline offensive cliches. Do you miss “According to Jim” and “My Wife and Kids”? ABC has a couple of shows for you.

And I don’t mean that to sound as cynical or negative as it might. The fact is that sitcoms have come a long way in the last decade and what used to be passable in the genre looks cliched now. I have no problem with a well-done family sitcom (“The Middle” borders on being a great show), so don’t presume that I think all sitcoms need to be pop culture parades like “Community.” And there are definite moments in the season premiere of “Last Man Standing” in which one can see what works about the show.

It’s not “All in the Family” but it’s trying for that model of an old-fashioned patriarch being assaulted by a new world. On the other hand, “Malibu Country” can’t shake its cliches and even its talented cast looks like they wish they were on a better program.

    “Last Man Standing”

The night starts with the better of the two programs by some stretch as Tim Allen deftly leads an ensemble that includes some talented performers and a writing staff willing to write a few interesting jokes. When I read that the season premiere would tackle the 2012 Presidential campaign, I presumed all of the jokes would be simple and obvious but there are actually a few clever political jabs as Mike (Allen) realizes that his daughters are voting for Obama while he’s a staunch Romney supporter himself. There are thousands of households right now going through the same dilemma — political divisions at the dinner table. It’s kind of nice that at least one family sitcom was willing to tackle it directly.

Having said that, there are still some frustratingly obvious jokes in “Last Man Standing” and I find the family dynamic much more engaging than the workplace one. “LMS” is one of those comedies that kind of wants to have it all — family comedy, workplace comedy, yubi, old-fashioned comedy — and dilutes it all down to a very safe degree of humor.

The cast works and there’s a joke every once in awhile that’s surprising and so I have to say that “Last Man Standing” is improved over its series premiere but it’s still one of those shows that most people wouldn’t have noticed if it had been canceled instead of renewed.

    Malibu Country

    “Malibu Country”

Maybe I thought “Last Man Standing” was better-than-expected because I watched this stinker first. The typically charming Reba can’t find the hook in a show that wallows in two cliches — the redneck Southerner and the pampered Californian.

Reba put her music career on hold years ago to support her country music star husband, who the world just found out was cheating on her. So Reba, her mother Lillie Mae (Lily Tomlin), and two kids move to California, where she tries to break into the business in the land of plastic surgery and back stabbing.

What is there really to say about a show like “Malibu Country” that tries to get most of its humor out of jokes about homosexuality (the boy next door claims to be but is caught making out with Reba’s daughter), plastic surgery, or Lillie Mae discovering marijuana lollipops. It’s all such easy writing with such lackluster pacing.

It feels much longer than its 22 minutes and it’s just sad to watch someone as talented as Lily Tomlin caught up in this mess. She looks visibly bored. Everyone involved deserves better.

“Last Man Standing” stars Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, and Hector Elizondo. It returns on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 7pm CST. “Malibu Country” stars Reba, Lily Tomlin, Sara Rue, Juliette Angelo, and Jai Rodriguez. It premieres on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 7:30pm CST. Both shows are on ABC.

Game show hosts in America have been popular among TV audiences for decades, for their friendly demeanor, wit, and kindness. Although some of them are good at roasting contestants, Drew Carey has been more compassionate and supportive as the host of “The Price is Right.” Most games played on the show have a lot to do with luck, and hence participants can lose out even after using all their skills and knowledge. Usually, Carey expresses sympathy towards contestants who lose, which is why it’s hard to imagine him slapping the spectacles off a contestant’s face after she failed to make it.

The player in question was Hillary, yubi, who had made it to the Showcase Showdown round. In this round, a contestant has to spin the big wheel that has numbers on each section. The objective is to come as close as possible to a dollar without going above that amount. The big prizes are won if a contestant can land on the dollar mark or the $0.5 and $0.15 marks.

Hillary’s first turn landed on the $0.2 mark, and this gave her a good chance of coming close enough to the dollar without going over. However, luck was not on the contestant’s side during her second attempt, as the wheel landed on the $0.9 mark. This meant that she had gone just over the dollar mark and was out of the race to win a prize in the game. Carey was sympathetic to her cause but his flailing hand accidentally made contact with the contestant’s face, knocking her glasses off.

Carey apologized multiple times as the crowd laughed after the incident. He then turned to the camera and started throwing his hands around as a comedic gesture. “Just flailing around,” he said as the next contestant went up to try their luck on the Showcase Showdown wheel. Thankfully, there was no harm done.

Although Carey accidentally hit the contestant on this occasion, there were also incidents in earlier episodes, when he ended up injuring himself. It was evident that he wasn’t joking when he said that he had hurt himself at the time but he handled the situation brilliantly and made sure that no one felt too uncomfortable. In the episode, the 66-year-old was dancing with a contestant, presumably to celebrate a win. However, in his excitement, he failed to take note of his surroundings. Carey tripped over a part of the stage behind him and fell hard on his back. He lay on the floor for a while before taking the microphone to say, “My hamstring.”

The crowd immediately stopped laughing and a couple of the show’s crew members walked up to the host to ask if he was okay. “I pulled a hammy,” he said with a smile on his face. This ensured that it wasn’t anything too serious even though the fall looked nasty at first.

As the host of “The Price is Right,” Drew Carey has become one of the most recognizable faces among American TV viewers. He has also changed his looks a number of times ever since he took over from Bob Barker, and even tried on disguises on some occasions. In an earlier episode of the show, yubi, he forgot to get his eyepiece, giving him a unique look that no one was expecting. But despite the accidental change, Fans and the other members of the show’s cast loved it.

George Gray was doing his job announcing as the show began. As soon as he announced the host’s name, Carey came out without his glasses, forced to sport a new look. Model Rachel Reynolds was the first person he greeted as he made his way onto the stage. “Hey, Rach, I forgot my glasses,” he said. Reynolds, however, seemed impressed with how the host was looking at that time, and She wasn’t the only one.

Gray also expressed his appreciation for the new look saying, “Good morning, Drew. I love the no glasses. Look at that. It’s awesome,” he said. The host later shared the story behind how he forgot the glasses.

“I wear my glasses all the time for like reading and everything. Things were a little blurry today. I got here, and when I was getting dressed, I was like, ‘I forgot my glasses.’ So, forgive me if I am having trouble seeing your name tag and all that stuff. It’s gonna be one of those days. Everybody forgets their glasses once in a while but hey, let’s get the party started,” he said maintaining professionalism.

He might not have been able to see very well during that episode, but he definitely looked dapper. Fans commenting under the clip on YouTube had mixed feelings about this. “Drew looks better with his glasses on than without them,” one user named @iguana9173 commented. “OK, is it just me, or has Drew gotten hot!?!” quipped another user named @wjw9075.

The surprising part is that while Carey claimed that he might have a hard time seeing without the glasses, he had undergone LASIK surgery many years ago and didn’t need them anymore. This was long before he became the host of “The Price is Right.” One can’t be sure if his eyesight deteriorated once again after the procedure. However, at that moment, he understood that the glasses were a big part of his identity.

“The two bad things about me getting LASIK surgery that I realized were that (a), I have a whole career built on me wearing these black horn-rim glasses, and the second bad thing about it is I can see myself naked in the shower now,” he had said as per a report in Chron. He has embraced the look ever since.

It isn’t new on “The Price is Right” for the host, Drew Carey, to step in and kick a machine to get it to work properly. But sometimes the contestants tend to go too hard during the punching game or while spinning a wheel and hurt themselves in the process. Something different happened on an earlier episode of the show when a contestant celebrated so hard after winning big that he broke a part of the big wheel. Thankfully, the damage to the wheel was minor, and it was still spinning, which meant that the show could go on.

The contestant was a man named Brian, and he had spun the wheel for a second time. During the game, a contestant gets two chances to spin the wheel, and in both those chances, they must come as close to a dollar as possible without going over. If they land on the dollar mark on the first try or get a dollar from both the spins combined, yubi, they will win $1,000.

After Brian’s first spin, he needed 0.55 from the second attempt to make it a dollar. He spun the wheel, and as it slowed down, it came closer and closer to the target. The audience kept cheering louder, and in the end, it landed exactly where the contestant needed it to. He had just won a thousand bucks, and he didn’t hold back during celebrations. In his celebration, however, he damaged one of the numbers on the wheel without even realizing it.

The damaged bit caught Carey’s eyes a few moments later, and he couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. “Oh! We’ll fix that. It’s alright,” the host added. A slow-motion replay of how the damage happened was shown. Brian’s flailing hand struck the number on the wheel, and it broke into two. However, it was minor enough to be fixed by the host himself on the spot.

This was perhaps one of the few times the wheel had fallen victim to a contestant and not the other way around. Some contestants lose their balance after spinning it and fall flat on their backs. One of them ended up twisting her ankle and ended up on crutches. It was a woman named Judy who lost her footing after spinning the wheel and unfortunately injured herself. However, instead of going to the hospital, she decided to play the Showcase round.

She was bidding for a trip to Washington and a brand-new car. After spending a few moments on crutches, even those became a bit too painful for her to manage. So she sat on a chair and watched the rest of the game play out. Unfortunately, Judy was not able to win Showcase, but she has become one of the most unique contestants in the show’s history.

“I hope Judy’s ankle feels better because that is kind of dangerous to twist her ankle on stage,” one user wrote in the comments section of the clip on YouTube. “You could win: A TRIP to the hospitallll!!” joked another user.
