Some observant Wheel of Fortune viewers have a question about Ryan Seacrest’s performance as the host.

Ryan has only been hosting Wheel of Fortune for two months but seems to have grown on his critics.

There was a bit of apprehension about Ryan filling Pat Sajak’s shoes, but the American Idol host proved that he’s got what it takes – or does he?

Ryan Seacrest has been under the watchful eyes of Wheel of Fortune fans, who have been dissecting his every move.

First, Ryan was accused of not spelling well. Now critics claim he can’t read.

On Reddit, a curious Wheel watcher created a thread discussing Ryan’s technique during the Bonus Round. They called the post “Does Ryan know how to say numbers?”

Wheel of Fortune viewer wonders why Ryan Seacrest never says prize amounts out loud

A Redditor pointed out that they’ve never seen Ryan verbally announce the prize amount during the final Bonus Round.

They explained, “He just flips the gold envelope open, looks down at it, and then at the contestant.”

“SO you can see that the puzzle was worth $40,000, BUT HE NEVER says the dollar amount of the prize out loud. He doesn’t actually read it off the card and say the number that is written. He just shows the audience and cameras the card,” the Reddit user added.

Their explanation continued, pointing out that Ryan never states the prize number, only flipping open the envelope to reveal the amount.

“I’m starting to wonder if maybe he just can’t read numbers?” they added.

Ryan Seacrest’s supporters come to his defense

Many Wheel watchers expressed the contrary, such as u/nowords left, who commented that Ryan verbalizes every number on the wheel.

Another Redditor added that Ryan can read numbers and is not “numerically illiterate.”

“If you don’t like Ryan fine … but at least back your criticism up with substance. Saying he can’t read numbers is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard,” they added.

“He doesn’t have to say them. The contestant and audience reactions speak for themselves,” added another Ryan supporter.

A couple of Wheel of Fortune viewers recalled that Pat Sajak never vocalized the prize amount during his tenure as host.

Wheel watchers are still adjusting to Pat Sajak’s absence

It seems that Ryan’s critics are still poking around to find fault with the TV icon.

Pat’s departure shocked longtime Wheel watchers, but at 78 years old, it was time for him to retire.

Pat was a Wheel of Fortune host for more than four decades and earned himself a reputation as one of the most iconic television hosts in history.

Despite hanging up his hat after Season 41, Wheel of Fortune fans can take solace in knowing Pat hasn’t completely left the franchise.

Pat stuck around to host Season 5 of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and is still a consultant for the popular weeknight game show.

Maggie Sajak could take over Wheel of Fortune hosting job from Ryan Seacrest if he ‘can’t work out new contract’

WHEEL of Fortune social media correspondent Maggie Sajak could end up taking over Ryan Seacrest’s hosting job if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

Ryan, 49, took over Maggie’s dad Pat’s longtime job this fall after the iconic star hosted the game show for over 40 years.

Despite her beloved dad’s departure, Maggie, 29, has remained on Wheel of Fortune in her role as social media correspondent.

Maggie has proven popular with viewers, and has created buzz for the show through her use of Instagram and TikTok.

“It’s important to allow Maggie to develop her own voice when it comes to the Wheel fan base, and that makes her incredibly valuable to Sony TV,” an insider told The U.S. Sun.

“Because the whole point of bringing in Ryan Seacrest was to reach more young people.”

    UNCERTAIN FUTURE

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, Ryan’s arrival on the show has brought a major boost in ratings.

But he has only reportedly signed an official contract for two years, leaving Wheel of Fortune’s future uncertain.

“Sony loves the ratings and wants to negotiate a much longer contract for Ryan, but right now they have to have contingency plans in place in case Ryan simply decides to move on,” the insider claimed.

“Maggie has positioned herself to help out if there’s a hosting vacancy, and the franchise is in her blood and her appreciation for the world of Wheel of Fortune is genuine.”

Whether Ryan stays or goes, Wheel of Fortune execs hope to keep Maggie on the show for years to come.

“Maggie’s already proven herself to be a super-valuable member of the Wheel family, especially during this time of transition,” the insider said.

    LAWYER LIFE

In addition to her job on Wheel of Fortune, Maggie also recently became a licensed attorney.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me through this journey,” she proudly posted in November.

“Excited to do some good with this in the future.”

As The U.S. Sun exclusively reported, Maggie’s law license was issued on September 7, 2024, by the State Bar of California.

She graduated from Georgetown University Law School in Washington, DC in May 2023.

    Wheel of Fortune’s big changes

The game show has undergone a major transformation now that Ryan Seacrest has taken over hosting duties for Pat Sajak.

-Ryan and Vanna White now host on a brand-new set, featuring a blue-toned stage, a green screen and art-deco wheel design.

-Ryan and Vanna make their big entrance from behind new sliding, brightly lit doors.

-Vanna turns – or now, touches – a modern, digital puzzle board controlled by lasers.

-Ryan brings a new hosting style, and has ditched Pat’s signature cue cards.

-The prizes have also been upgraded, and now include tickets to NFL games, and tickets to A-list concerts.

    VANNA’S REPLACEMENT?

In May 2023, Maggie filled in for longtime Wheel of Fortune co-host Vanna White, and fans thought she could take over upon the 67-year-old beauty’s eventual retirement.

Vanna seemed to hint Maggie could take on her legendary position standing next to the letterboard in the future.

“I think she’s a good replacement if I can’t be there for some reason,” she told E! in October 2023.

“She’s been around it her whole life, so I think she can fill in for me for sure.

    “She’s precious, she’s beautiful, she’s very good.

“I think she learned a lot from her father because he’s such a good interviewer. I think she’s good for our show.”

Wheel of Fortune viewers were left fuming this week after host Ryan Seacrest denied contestant Arzice Salonga, a law student and single mom from Medina, Ohio, a $1,000 win during the game’s first toss-up round due to her pronunciation of the word “safari.” Salonga, a former Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader, confidently buzzed in with “African Safari” as the answer to the puzzle “A F _ I _ _ N / _ A _ A _ _.” However, she pronounced “safari” as “sa-FAIR-ee,” which led to her answer being ruled incorrect.

Immediately after Salonga’s attempt, Brian Nelson from Longview, Texas, correctly pronounced the answer, winning the $1,000 prize. Seacrest confirmed the controversial decision stating, “Yes, safari is the way you have to say that,” and explained, “I just checked with our judges to make sure.” The incident sparked outrage among Wheel of Fortune fans on social media. On Reddit, one viewer exclaimed, “She was robbed IMO [in my opinion].” Another fan on X defended Salonga’s pronunciation: “Cmon, Wheel of Fortune judges. I knew what she meant when she said African ‘Safari’ that way.”

Yet another viewer lamented: “Now they know good and well they should have given her ‘Sa-fair-ree’ yes it’s pronounced saFARi but still, slight cultural variation has been considered before.”

However, not all fans sided with Salonga. Some viewers maintained that correct pronunciation is crucial on a game show about words.

“Never heard someone mispronounce ‘Safari’ as ‘Sa-fair-ee,’” a user commented, while another argued, “I’m gonna go against the grain. Wheel is a show about words. You should pronounce the words correctly to win.”

The incident adds to a series of bizarre occurrences on the show since Seacrest took over as host.

In a notable episode last month, Seacrest was tackled to the ground by an overly excited contestant, Daniel, a Pittsburgh native, after he won the grand prize of $40,000.

Daniel’s enthusiasm spilled over after he correctly guessed “Guppies” in an intense bonus round, leading to an accidental knockdown of the host.

Although Seacrest was quick to reassure everyone with “I’m good, I’m good,” the announcer humorously chided, “Daniel, easy on our host, but celebrate with $40,000.”

Seacrest became the new host of the iconic American gameshow following the retirement of the long-standing host Pat Sajak, who stepped down after four decades on the show.

The presenter is known for his roles on American Idol and Live with Kelly and Ryan, was officially announced as the new host in 2023 by Sony Pictures Television.

However, just a few months into his time as host, speculation has arisen about his future on the show alongside his trusty sidekick Vanna White.

A report from Radar Online claimed that Sajak might return to host the show, despite officially retiring in 2024. According to a source, Sajak never wanted to leave and was “forced” to retire.

The source suggested that Sajak wanted to come back and reclaim his old job.

Wheel of Fortune contestant blasted for bizarre celebration after controversial win

Wheel of Fortune viewers dubbed one player as the ‘most annoying contestant ever’ after his bizarre behavior and yelling celebrations left many frustrated on Monday evening.

The episode saw P.J Wilder, a house husband from Hanford, California, was the latest contestant to try and win big on the popular game show.

Wilder already stood out thanks to his tall stature and a distinctive mustache, which he told host Ryan Seacrest was inspired by Hercule Poirot – the fictional detective from Agatha Christie’s famed novels.

Throughout the episode, Wilder yelled in celebration when getting guesses correct, while he was equally vocal in agitation when he made mistakes.

Viewers noted that the other players appeared to be visibly annoyed by his antics as time went on.

Meanwhile, fans were even less impressed when his Speed Up puzzle guess was allowed to count even though Wilder had paused between the last words just as the buzzer sounded.

After Wilder loudly pleaded for the judges to count his answer, he yelled in delight when the decision went his way – stating ‘Let’s f**king go!’

Then it was time for the Bonus Round which saw the contestant correctly guess the What Are You Wearing puzzle, with the answer being Zip-Up Hoodie.

For his troubles, Wilder snagged himself a Mini Cooper S Signature Convertible worth $41,200.

In total, he walked away from the show with a total of $74,860 in cash and prizes.

The ecstatic player yelled in delight once again and asked host Seacrest to pinch him.

He then ran towards his new car and hopped in before proceeding to honk the horn several times.

Wilder’s enthusiastic celebrations immediately became a hot topic on Reddit as one viewer asked in a thread: ‘Anyone else think this guy PJ is the most annoying contestant ever?’

Another replied: ‘I literally came here to express the same sentiment. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a contestant that irritated me so much.’

A fourth agreed: ‘I think he was way over the top. Making gestures that were uncalled for. And I felt so bad for the other contestants.’

A sixth noted: ‘I try to be nice about the contestants, lord knows I’d like to be one someday, but even I was fed-up with his obnoxiousness by the end of the show.’

‘All I had to see was the combination of his haircut and the mustache to know that everything PJ does is for attention,’ a seventh viewer added. ‘I was really annoyed by the stupid hand under the chin thing he was doing at the end.’

Another viewer noted: ‘Came on here to see if anyone else would mention about this. Wow he was unbearable to watch especially when he kept cutting Ryan off.

Wheel of Fortune averaged 7.99 million viewers during new host Seacrest’s first month, and during that time, the show was ‘the most-watched entertainment series across broadcast, cable, and syndication,’ according to Nielsen data per Newsweek.

In January, it was revealed that the show only saw a slight drop in audience numbers by the end of 2024.

Per The Los Angeles Times, Nielsen data showed WoF earning an average of 7.9 million viewers through December 1, 2024 – which was an increase of three percent from the prior year.

Is Shifting Gears new tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 19?

TV Line previously reported that the “penultimate” episode will air on March 12. That leads us to believe that the season 1 finale will be airing the next week on March 19, though ABC has not confirmed this just yet.

How Young Sheldon Season 7 Made George’s Death More Heartbreaking

George Was Finally Getting The Life He Always Wanted, Then He Died.

Sheldon’s father is undoubtedly one of the best parts of the family comedy-drama, but that was because the prequel contradicted what was established in The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon and Mary’s stories about George in the nerd-centric sitcom painted him as a no-good father and husband, while the offshoot’s version portrayed him as the epitome of a flawed but devoted father. This created plot inconsistencies, with some highly divisive, including when Young Sheldon retconned George’s cheating scandal. In hindsight, however, all the narrative issues were worth it, considering how vital he was to the show’s success.

Young Sheldon‘s appeal benefitted from George’s new image, but it only made his death so much more devastating.

Young Sheldon‘s appeal benefitted from George’s new image, but it only made his death so much more devastating. Losing a family member is always difficult, but the emotional impact is more profound when it is someone who is devoted to doing good for his wife and kids, yubi, which George was before he unexpectedly died. Sheldon’s father was on the cusp of achieving the life he had long dreamed of, with a family backing him and a better job waiting for him in Houston. However, the CBS show took all that away from George when he met his end.

Lance Barber as George in Young Sheldon

Before his death off-screen, George’s (Lance Barber) final Young Sheldon line stands out because it emphasizes how devastating his death really is.

At the end of his life, Sheldon’s father was fully redeemed. Even Meemaw was devastated by George’s death, which indicated how far he evolved as a Young Sheldon character. Now, all The Big Bang Theory franchise needs to officially admit that Sheldon and Mary did him wrong by badmouthing him all those years in Pasadena. As Young Sheldon showed, George didn’t deserve any of it.

Lance Barber Returns As Georgie Sr. On Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage

Fans rejoice as Barber brings back the beloved George Cooper character through poignant dream sequences.

Lance Barber has officially returned as Georgie Sr. in the hit spinoff series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, much to the delight of fans who adored his character from Young Sheldon. This return takes place through poignant dream sequences as the character Georgie, portrayed by Montana Jordan, grapples with the complex emotions surrounding his father’s absence after his tragic death, which had previously been established as part of the show’s canon.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage To Feature Cameo by Lance Barber

Barber’s role is more than just nostalgia; it plays a significant role in enhancing Georgie’s character development. While George Cooper, played by Barber, died before the events of The Big Bang Theory, his legacy continues to influence the storylines involving his son. According to executive producer Steve Holland, the creators prioritize storytelling above all, stating, “I mean, we love Lance. We love having him on the show. For us, it’s always going to be about the story. We can’t force them [the characters] back just for our own selfish reasons” (reported by TV Line).

With Barber’s appearance confirmed for episode 12 and more guest spots planned, fans can expect to see how the show utilizes dream sequences to explore Georgie’s psyche. Holland elaborated on previous tropes from The Big Bang Theory, where Professor Proton appeared as dreams, emphasizing, “We didn’t want to play [the same dynamic] with George,” indicating they are aiming for authenticity rather than mere reruns of previous shows’ mechanics.

The upcoming episodes feature the beloved cast from Young Sheldon, intertwining the two series meaningfully. For example, Annie Potts will return as Meemaw, and the 14th episode titled “A Sportsbook and a Breakup” will explore her illicit business ventures, demonstrating the intertwining of old family dynamics.

Fans have shown enthusiasm for Barber’s return, leading many to hope the series could increasingly incorporate Georgie’s dreams. The connection between Georgie’s character and his father allows for emotional and narratively complex engagement, marking Barber’s contribution as pivotal. The producers are aware of fans’ attachment to the character and have emphasized the delicate handling needed not to tarnish George’s legacy following the conclusion of Young Sheldon.

Indeed, Barber has stayed connected with his former cast members, highlighting the strong bond shared among them even after the original series ended. His return marks more than just nostalgia, acting as a bridge to carrying forth the themes of loss and mourning within the sitcom’s narrative. The series has already established this capability through Barber’s impactful performances within Georgie’s recollections.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Creator Addresses Whether George Sr. Will Return Again After Episode 12

The potential for recurring dream sequences remains strong. Observers have noted the emotional benefit of reflecting George’s influence on Georgie, particularly now as the son embarks on his own parenting journeys. This layered storytelling not only enriches character depth but enhances audience investment. Holland has expressed optimism about continuing these narrative threads, stating, “If we did bring him back, we would have to make sure we found a way…” indicating intentions to craft meaningful appearances rather than throwing nostalgia at viewers without substance.

Overall, Barber’s reincarnation of George Cooper breathes fresh life and complexity back to Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The character’s nostalgic yet sorrowful presence emphasizes the impacts of familial relationships on personal growth, particularly as both Georgie and Mandy navigate adulthood and parenting. The successful interweaving of Barber’s character also attests to the show’s commitment to honoring the legacy of Young Sheldon, ensuring as they explore new territories, they remain respectful to the original storyline’s emotional weight.

The series airs Thursdays on CBS, with episodes available for streaming on Paramount+. Fans eager to see how the narratives evolve can stay tuned—especially as producers have signaled open possibilities for Barber to bring George’s essence back through varied character contexts, such as Mary and Missy’s dreams.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is conjuring its first spirit — well, sort of.

Lance Barber, who for seven seasons starred as Cooper family patriarch George Sr. on CBS’ Young Sheldon, will reprise his role on the Thursday, Feb. 27 episode of the recently renewed spinoff.

Barber’s beloved character was famously killed off in Young Sheldon’s third-to-last episode. As foretold on The Big Bang Theory, George Sr. suffered a fatal heart attack, and his funeral factored heavily into the prequel’s May 2024 series finale. So how, exactly, will George Sr. appear on Georgie & Mandy?

“His dad visits him in a dream,” series co-creator Steve Holland explained during a recent press day on set of the CBS sitcom. “George is thinking about his dad, and he’s worried that his dad might be disappointed in him…. [The idea] came out of a conversation we’d had with Chuck [Lorre], even early on, talking about the show. Chuck had said about his own father that he still dreams about him, he still visits him, so that was a thing we had thought about. And then when we were breaking this episode, it just seemed like a great opportunity to bring George back.”

Holland previously told TVLine that Georgie & Mandy would never erase the events of Young Sheldon, or bring George Sr. back from the dead. “If we found the right sort of emotional reason for Georgie [to see him], and it didn’t just feel like a stunt — like, here’s George Sr. crawling his way out of the grave — and we treated it respectfully, it would be great to have Lance back on,” he said in November. And now they will.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has already brought back several Young Sheldon characters. In addition to series regulars Montana Jordan (Georgie), Emily Osment (Mandy), Rachel Bay Jones (Audrey) and Will Sasso (Jim), Zoe Perry (Mary), Raegan Revord (Missy), Matt Hobby (Pastor Jeff), Craig T. Nelson (Dale) and Annie Potts (Meemaw) have all made guest appearances.

New episodes of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage air Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS (and stream next day on Paramount+). Revisit our May 2024 interview about George Sr.’s death with Lance Barber and Zoe Perry below, then hit the comments and let us know if you’re looking forward to Barber’s return.
