‘Jeopardy!’ & ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Ratings Revealed 5 Months After Ryan Seacrest Debut

    Disney/CBS

In the battle for game show supremacy one show has seen a surge in ratings while the other has cooled down.  New figures show that Jeopardy! is back on top as Wheel of Fortune saw a drop in viewing figures.

And it seems that some of that could be down to contestant Drew Goins, who appeared on Jeopardy!‘s Champions Wild Card Tournament during the week of January 20 to January 26, which saw the game show reclaim its top spot. Despite falling just short of victory against Mehal Shah for a spot in the Tournament of Champions, Goins was picked to be an alternate after Celebrity Jeopardy! winner Lisa Ann Walter wasn’t able to take her spot. Sadly, he lost in the semi-final on February 6.

The U.S. Sun reports that 8,430,000 people tuned in to watch Jeopardy! that week, according to Nielsen. Wheel of Fortune wasn’t far behind with 8,111,000 viewers.

These ratings come five months after Ryan Seacrest made his debut as host on WOF. He took over for Pat Sajak, who retired in 2024 after 41 seasons.

In October, just weeks after Seacrest made his debut on Wheel of Fortune, the game show totaled 7.99 million total viewers, making its best premiere month audience (9/9/24-10/6/24) in three years. At the time, Wheel was TV’s number one most-watched entertainment program, surpassing Jeopardy!, which is hosted by Ken Jennings. Wheel has long trailed Jeopardy! in ratings, despite the game shows airing back-to-back in syndication. Even with the celebrity versions, Jeopardy! pulls ahead.

The reason for Wheel‘s rating drop could be because fans noticed the game show is consistently giving away $40,000 during the Bonus Round. After a contestant correctly guesses the puzzle in the Bonus Round, Seacrest reveals how much they added to their jackpot by opening an envelope with a cash amount on it.

Without fail, it seems that Seacrest continuously opens $40,000 envelopes and not any higher.

YouTube viewers were not enthused with the prize and wondered if there were any higher amounts on the wheel.

“When I saw Ryan was hiding the prize from the envelope, I thought he [was] gonna surprise her and the audience with $100,000!” a viewer commented.

“How many $40,000 envelopes are there in the Bonus Round? I see another $40,000 win again,” one fan wrote.

“I thought for sure [Seacrest] was going to reveal the $100,000, and it was only the $40,000. Still, a great solve and great effort. Nice work!” said another.

Another fan observed Season 42 hasn’t had any $1 million, $70K, or $75K winners yet.

“Jeopardy!” and “The Wheel Of Fortune” are two of the most popular game shows on American television and compete to get the attention of the same kind of audience with similar puzzles. Both hosts now have relatively new hosts, since Ken Jennings took the reins of “Jeopardy!” after Alex Trebek’s death in 2020, while Ryan Seacrest became “Wheel of Fortune” host in 2024. Although the two could be considered rivals, a report from The U.S. Sun suggests that there’s no bad blood between them. In fact Jennings even laughs about the competition between the shows.

The report mentioned how the two shows are neck and neck in the fight for viewership with “Wheel of Fortune” in the lead. One of the reasons for its popularity is its young host, Seacrest, who took over after Sajak’s retirement in 2024.

The Sun reported that the show surged past “Jeopardy!” by over 1 million when Seacrest took over, while Jennings is said to be struggling to keep up after taking over as the sole host of “Jeopardy!” However, an insider told The U.S. Sun that Jennings isn’t afraid of joking about it. “After a recent taping, Ken asked the live audience if they enjoyed their time at the show, before asking if any of them wished they’d gone to see “Wheel of Fortune” instead. The crowd erupted in laughter and seemed to appreciate him making fun of the rivalry and not taking it so seriously,” the source shared with the publication.

The insider further added that Jennings is “very humble”, and really kind to everyone on set. “It seems the role hasn’t gone to his head. There’s no ego about him at all,” the source said adding that Jennings seems to be settling well on the Alex Trebek stage. However, he may still be getting heat from bosses after “Wheel of Fortune” took the top spot recently in the ratings chart.

Jennings initially started hosting the show alongside “The Big Bang Theory’s” Mayim Bialik. However, she was let go from the show in 2023 as producers allegedly wanted more consistency. Around the same time, Seacrest with more star power than Jennings, replaced Sajak on “Wheel of Fortune.” Just weeks after his debut, the game show got 7.99 million total viewers, marking its best premiere month in three years, NBC reported.

“Ryan is bringing a sense of youth and urgency to the job that is a lot harder to pull off than it looks,” a TV source previously told The U.S. Sun.

On the other hand, Jennings is under pressure as he still has no long-term contract to host the show, despite proving his commitment. “Jeopardy! is Ken’s religion; he lives it, and he breathes it, and despite all the outside pressures, he’s not going to mess this up,” the insider claimed. The source further added that Jennings was even ready to take a pay cut to stay on the show for the long run.

“He’s proud to have worked his way into this position and believes he has what it takes to make it last for decades to come,” the insider added.

Ryan Seacrest ruffled a few feathers after a controversial puzzle guess ruling.

This week, one “Wheel of Fortune” player missed out on the first puzzle of the episode and a $1,000 prize after incorrectly pronouncing her puzzle guess.

The two-word puzzle read: “A F _ I _ _ N _ A _ A _ _.” The player, Arzice of Medina, Ohio, correctly guessed “African Safari” but mispronounced the second word as “sa-fair-ee,” making the answer incorrect. Another player, Brian, picked up the prize instead.

“Safari is the way you have to say that,” Seacrest said, with Arzice appearing to realize the error. “Just wanted to check with our judges to make sure.”

On the show’s Monday, January 6, episode, the 48-year-old opened up about how she spent the holidays, telling her co-hosts, “Not only was I celebrating Christmas with my family and baby Jesus, but Sean Hannity and I were engaged.”

Earhardt admitted that she was totally surprised by the proposal, which took place at the pair’s church in Florida. She also gushed over her 63-year-old husband-to-be, adding, “I respect him so much. I look up to him. We fell in love a few years ago, and it’s been a wonderful ride.” She continued, “He’s so fun and funny and nice and the most generous man I’ve ever met.”

Host Phil Keoghan also weighs in on the new twists.

The Amazing Race will kick off its 37th season March 5 on CBS, but you don’t have to wait until then to watch host Phil Keoghan arch his eyebrow. That’s because we’ve got the first five minutes of the premiere exclusively for you right here and right now.

Not only do we get a super sneak peek at some of the twists, turns, and drama to unfold the season, with Keoghan promising that “emotions will run high as the tension builds to a final showdown,” but we get to bear witness to start of the Race, as the host explains to the teams that “this season there are more big surprises than ever before.” He also warns them about the new Fork in the Road and the impending double elimination at the conclusion of the first leg. (Rude.)

But don’t take my word for it. Watch all the action in the video above to see which teams flourish and falter right out of the gate, as they race out of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for their first destination: Hong Kong.

We also spoke to Keoghan to get some teases on what to expect on the rest of the season 37 premiere.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First off, do you have to do any eyebrow arching exercises to get in shape for the new season?

PHIL KEOGHAN: Yeah, normally I work out every day, and then part of my routine is 10 eyebrow arches. It’s written in my contract that I can only do a certain number, otherwise they have to pay me bonus eyebrow money. So I can do three pops per show. That’s it. It gets expensive if I do too many of those.

What can you tell us about the Fork in the Road and how that plays out with two separate races happening as teams have to decide which course to take?

That’s something we’ve been talking about for a while. I think ultimately, it’s going to be up to the fans to let us know whether they want us to do it again and whether they think it worked. There’s been a number of ideas that we’ve talked about over the years that we’ve wanted to try and implement. And the network was really keen on having a different big surprise in every single episode on top of the standard surprises that we have every time. So this seemed to make a lot of sense, and let’s see what happens if we force teams to have to make a decision to go left or right.

There’s a lot of strategy at play because it’s like, “Well, how many people went left and how many people went right? And then what is it on the left and what is it on the right and does it make sense to do this?” It could be a team gets there and most people have gone left and that’s the thing that you and I maybe think we can do the best, but hardly anybody’s gone on the other path. And then we’re like, “If we go left, we’re going to be behind, even though that’s probably what we want to do, but we really probably need to go right because there’s less people there and maybe we take our chances there.” So there’s a lot of really good strategy involved with it.

What is it like for you having a double elimination on the very first leg? I know you love the competition, but you’re also an empathetic guy and I always feel so bad for those people that go out first.

Yeah, it’s the hardest thing. You go through that whole casting process for months and sometimes if you look at Nick and Mike for instance, those guys tried to get on the show for seven years. So God forbid you’re in a situation where you’ve got to eliminate them first out of the gate. You don’t want that to happen, but, of course, it all comes out in the mix.

You just don’t know who’s going to go, but somebody’s got to go, and then to look in their eyes and maybe they’ve only been on the Race for 24 hours, that’s tough. And you’re standing there at the mat and you realize, “Oh my God, 24 hours ago we were standing at the start line and now we’ve got this double elimination.”

'Amazing Race' season 37 host Phil Keoghan

‘Amazing Race’ season 37 host Phil Keoghan.Kit Karzen/CBS

That’s really tough to do and to execute. You want people to go long. And I’m not going to lie, there are times where we’re eliminating teams that we wish we weren’t eliminating because you really had high expectations and sometimes there’s a direct correlation between the teams that are most interesting and the ones that go out the earliest. So Murphy’s Law.

I’m not allowed to have favorites, but there’s definitely times where I’m like, “Oh man, what I wouldn’t do to have them stick around just because I think they think they’re going to get more and more interesting.” People say to me sometimes with the non-elimination legs — “Oh, you guys must just make it up.” And I’m like, “You have no idea. You have no idea how impossible that is to do.”

‘Survivor’ Premiere: Autistic Player Brings Ally to Tears in Powerful Moment

Eva and Joe in 'Survivor' 48 premiere

    Spoiler Alert

    CBS

[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for the Survivor Season 48 premiere.]

Survivor has had its share of neurodiverse players, but the Season 48 cast features what the show is calling its first openly autistic player. Eva Erickson, a 24-year-old PhD candidate, came into Survivor with a plan to divulge her neurodiversity to one ally to start, and if circumstances forced her to open up more, she would. She fears telling more people about her autism because, as she describes it, they could try to take advantage of her struggles with social cues and difficulty to catch someone in a lie. But Eva quickly pinpointed her “ride or die” ally in the Season 48 premiere, which aired on Wednesday, February 26 on CBS, and as her ally said himself, “she came to the right person, 100 percent.” This moment of connection resulted in a powerful confessional interview from contestant Joe Hunter, who was deeply honored by Eva’s show of vulnerability and trust.

“I was diagnosed when I was very young, just over a year old. Having autism gives me a lot of great strengths for the game, as well as some blatant weaknesses. Weaknesses, for sure, are social cues,” Eva said in the premiere as footage showed her gathering bamboo for the Lagi (purple) tribe. “I don’t know when someone’s lying to me. I’m a very direct person, and I expect others to be direct with me, and they’re not going to be in this game. But on the flip side, my autism makes me so driven.”

One driving force was finding her “ride or die” so they could start strategizing together. Eva chose Joe, 45, a fire captain and dad who’s playing to inspire his kids and himself. Her choice was driven by the player who made her feel the most comfortable without even trying. She pitched their partnership, to which he quickly agreed, and then waited until later in the day to share her diagnosis, explaining that she’s “never seen it as a roadblock” but the world told her family it would be.

Survivor' 48 Premiere Recap: Autistic Player Brings Ally to Tears in Powerful Moment

“When I was a little kid, they told my mom I would never live independently, that I would never hold a job, that at most they could hope that I would marry someone with autism as well,” Eva shared. But her parents raised her “to believe that this was not a problem, that this is not something bad or wrong with you. You just have this thing and it makes you unique.” She explained that she’ll sometimes get overstimulated, and Joe asked how he can help in those moments. All she needs is for him to squeeze her hands to help her recenter. She said it’s going to be a “tough” game when she gets “fixated” on success and failures, and Joe was “honored” to be given her trust in this way. He was brought to tears in confessional.

“This is bigger than the game now and transcended it in a way that changed everything,” Joe said. “What if my daughter was here in that situation? I have made a decision. She’s with me. I got her.”

“As time goes on, and if something does happen, I will share it with everyone, but I don’t want someone to see my social skills as a thing that they can then take advantage of,” Eva further explained. As Joe replied, “I would absolutely love to help you with that situation.” They hugged, and Joe then told the cameras that their partnership was “meant to be.”

“I’m not gonna let her down. Even if that hurts my game, whatever. If I gotta go home early, I’m not gonna let her down.”

Jeff Probst told us that Survivor 48 is defined by partnerships. Eva and Joe’s just became our favorite.

‘Fox & Friends’ Has Meltdown Over Kamala Harris as Her Popularity Surges

    Fox and Friends
    Fox News

The hosts of Fox & Friends went into something of a meltdown on Tuesday morning (August 13) over Vice President Kamala Harris‘ rising popularity in the 2024 presidential election campaign.

As reported by MediaiteFox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones expressed shock on Tuesday’s show that Harris is polling so well, noting how she “doesn’t even have a campaign theme.”

“If you go on the website, there’s no issues, there’s no theme,” Jones stated. “At least [Barack] Obama had ‘Change you can believe in.’ You know, you have Bill Clinton, that had his thing. You had George W Bush, ‘compassionate conservatism.’ They had something.”

He continued, “Well, it’s not even a theme! There’s not even a video. Why am I running? You know, every candidate does it. Why am I running? I want to do this. I want to change this. There’s nothing, you know. There’s no movement!”

Fellow co-host Ainsley Earhardt agreed, saying, “You know what’s so sad? What she’s telling the voter is, ‘I don’t need to have a theme. I don’t need to have issues. I don’t need to tell you how I’m voting, people. I’m getting the crowds. People like me and I am. They’re just so grateful that Joe Biden’s not running. They’re going to vote for me no matter what.’”

President Joe Biden officially withdrew from the 2024 presidential campaign on Sunday, July 21, and endorsed Harris as the new Democrat nominee. Since then, Harris has seen massive crowds at her events and campaign rallies.

Earhardt said “the American voter needs to wake up and look at her voting record. You have to look at these issues. What is she going to do to our country? Is she going to make our country better? Is it been better over the last three years since she’s been vice president? No.”

The show’s message then started to get confused as Earhardt compared Harris to Bernie Sanders’ campaign in 2016, claiming the Independent Senator from Vermont was pushing “socialism.”

“In the beginning, when we started doing it, we were shocked. Like what? This is America. We’re a republic. We’re not a socialist, Marxist country. He starts preaching this, and we’re all in shock,” Earhardt stated. “[Harris] votes more progressive than he does. America needs to wake up to this woman who’s getting on stage that everyone is rallying around. Do you know what she stands for?”

LAWRENCE JONES: Public safety's become a 'political football' | Fox News

Then, despite saying Harris’ policy positions are unknown, Brian Kilmeade claimed the Vice President’s current policies are more in line with Trump than a socialist agenda.

“She’s going to be strong on the border. It’s going to crack down on crime. She’s not going to tax on tips,” Kilmeade shared. “She’s trying to be more MAGA than Donald Trump. That’s what she’s doing because that’s more popular than what she stood for and who she worked for.“

Steve Doocy responded, “Well, don’t be surprised if at the conclusion of the DNC next week, she says, ‘I’m Kamala Harris, and I want to make America great again,’ right?”

“All of a sudden, more of a Republican,” Earhardt added, even though she’d just compared Harris to Bernie Sanders.

Regular Fox News guest Dr. Kelly Powers has died after a years-long battle with brain cancer. She was 45.

An obituary posted on Legacy.com revealed that Powers passed away on Sunday, December 1. A frequent commentator on shows such as Fox & FriendsRed Eye, and The Willis Report, Powers had been open about her health struggles in recent years, often sharing updates on social media.

“She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went. Kelly had a love for people and she was dedicated to helping others,” the obituary read.

Born in Yonkers, New York, Powers studied at Baruch College in New York before pursuing her medical school training at New York College of Podiatric Medicine. This was followed by a Master of Science degree at the University of San Francisco and residencies at Georgetown and Boston Universities.

While working as a successful podiatric surgeon, Powers often made appearances on Fox News and Fox Business to talk about health issues. It was during one such appearance when she first started having her own health-related problems.

“It’s crazy. I went into heart failure while doing a report on Fox Business — live — on heart health and talking about the subtle signs that women often miss. You can’t make this up,” she told Preferred Health Magazine after her first diagnosis.

After fighting through her heart ailment, in 2020, it was discovered she had glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. According to a GoFundMe page, Powers underwent three surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, and managed to fight the cancer off, all while becoming pregnant and welcoming a baby boy (Bennett) with her husband, Steve, in 2021.

However, the cancer returned earlier this year, and, according to the GoFundMe, “conventional chemotherapy and radiation were no longer effective at this point.” The page raised almost $90,000 to help pay for an innovative treatment that is only available in Germany.

Following the news of Powers’ passing, former Fox Nation commentator Britt McHenry, who underwent brain surgery for a tumor in 2020, took to X to share her condolences.

“Kelly Powers was a wonderful, strong and kind woman,” McHenry wrote. “We would text each other about our brain cancer struggles and she was someone I admired deeply. In tears and devastated about this. She loved her family. I am sending them all the love and prayers right now.”

She is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, her son Bennett, her parents, and her mother and father-in-laws Daniel and Laraine Doll.

Fox News host Sean Hannity spoke with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on Thursday night (November 7) and among the topics covered was whether Donald Trump would seek “retribution” against his critics during his presidency.

The pair discussed Trump’s presidential election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday (November 5), with Hannity telling Smith, “You were very gracious, by the way. Privately, we have our own conversations, and you said that to me, ‘I’ll live with it.’”

“I’ve had elections that I really wanted my side to win, that they lost, and you know what, Stephen A.? I go on and I plow through and I do my job,” the Fox News host continued.

Per Mediaite, Hannity promised that Trump would not enact retribution on those who spoke out against him, including the hosts of ABC’s The View. “There’s not gonna be retribution. None of the hosts of The View are gonna be taken off [the air],” he stated.

“I used to go on that show,” Hannity added. “They wouldn’t even allow… they wouldn’t accept a conversation with me at this point. Isn’t that pretty pathetic? Because I used to like Whoopi Goldberg. Joyless Behar, eh, she’s a little…”

Smith, who appeared on The View earlier that day, responded, “I would ask that you don’t look at the show. What you should look at is the ideological tilt that has taken place in our country.”

“We’ve gotten to a point where God forbid somebody has a difference of opinion and a different form of ideology, then you’re damn near the Antichrist, and that’s not what makes this country great,” he continued.

“You know how I felt. You knew why I didn’t vote for [Trump],” Smith added. “I don’t like the way he behaves. I think the presidency is a statesmanship position, and I think that that level of hubris that he’s accustomed to showing needs to be dialed back significantly. But having said that, the bottom line is simple. You can look at a lot of things on the right or the left.”

Hannity was on hand at a Fox News town hall last year, where he asked Trump whether he would “abuse power as retribution against anybody” should he become president again.

Trump assured he wouldn’t, “Except for day one. We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator, ok?”

The Voice fans rave Snoop is ‘best judge ever’ as the Battle Rounds begin with TWO steals

The Blind Auditions have come and gone, with NBC’s The Voice moving into the Battle Rounds on Monday’s new episode.

Snoop Dogg put two duos together to battle, with fans getting a first glimpse at his coaching style, and they were quite impressed.

Snoop kicked off the show by pitting Gail Bliss and Christina Eagle together to sing Gretchen Wilson’s Redneck Woman and later he picked Mikayla Ayira and Eliza Pryor to sing Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles.

Many were impressed, taking to social media, with some claiming he’s the best judge in the show’s long history.

While none of Snoop’s singers were stolen after elimination, there were two huge steals to kick off the Battle Rounds.

Snoop realized quickly how difficult the Battle Rounds will be after their performance, admitting picking one over the other was going to ‘break my heart.’

After channeling his ‘gangster Holy Ghost,’ he ultimately picked the 23-year-old Christina over the 61-year-old Gail.

Gail wasn’t stolen by any of the other judges after the performance so she was sent home.

Gwen Stefani teamed up a pair of teens – 19-year-old Sloane Simon with 15-year-old Sydney Sterlace.

They both were given the Billie Eilish song Birds of a Feather, with Gwen realizing in rehearsals it would be a tough decision as well.

She ultimately chose Sydney, but the remaining three judges – Snoop, Reba McEntire and Michael Buble used their Steal on Sloane, who chose Buble.

Buble paired up 18-year-old Kiara Vega with 20-year-old Mor Ilderton, to sing Iris from Goo Goo Dolls.

Michael realized the song wasn’t in either of their ‘lanes’ with Mor admitting he’d never harmonized before.

Also moving forward was Kendall Eugene from Team Reba, who she picked over Alison Elena after they sang Bring On the Rain by Jo Dee Messina and Tim McGraw.

Jan Dan was chosen by Stefani over Jaylen Dunham, as Jan Dan had to leave right after because his wife was due that day with their first child.
