Reba McEntire’s Former TV Husband Guest Stars In Her New Sitcom On NBC

Christopher Rich, who previously starred in Reba McEntire‘s namesake sitcom, has joined the cast of her brand-new show, Happy’s Place.

Happy’s Place, which just got renewed for a second seasondebuted on NBC on October 18, 2024. The show stars McEntire as Bobbie, a strong-willed woman running her late father’s tavern. But her world gets flipped upside down when she learns she has a younger half-sister, Isabella (played by Belissa Escobedo), who is also her new business partner.

The show also stars Melissa Peterman, McEntire’s former Reba sitcom co-star and real-life best friend, as a bartender named Gabby. McEntire’s boyfriend, Rex Linn, plays the tavern’s cook, Emmett.

Happy’s Place staged a mini Reba reunion when Steve Howey appeared in a guest role in one episode. Howey played McEntire’s son-in-law, Van Montgomery, on Reba, which ran from 2001 to 2007.

Another Reba star recently joined the cast of Happy’s Place. Christopher Rich, who played McEntire’s ex-husband Brock Hart on Reba, will appear in the new sitcom’s 15th episode, airing on February 21.

Variety shared the first known details about Rich’s Happy’s Place character, who’s named Maverick. The publication described Maverick as:

“…a local tattoo artist that is very good at his job … as long as he’s using his right hand. Turns out Maverick has had a stroke and likes to tease new clients about which hand he’s going to use when he starts doing their tattoos.”

The story detail about Maverick being a stroke survivor comes from Rich’s own life. The actor suffered a stroke and subsequent brain injury several years ago (in 2018), which kept him from acting.

“Then I threw a bunch of blood clots and ended up in the hospital with lung embolisms and debris on my heart,” Rich told Us Weekly in a recent interview. “After surviving all of that crap, I’m feeling really, really good.”

As someone with a disability, Rich says, “It’s great” to play a disabled character upon his return to TV.

“It’s great to be able to be a disabled person and play a disabled person,” he said. “I’m hoping that when some of this gets out there, that people that I’ve worked with in the past are going to say, ‘OK, let’s bring him back. We can work with him.’”

  • ‘Last Man Standing’ Cast: Where Are They Now

‘Last Man Standing’ Cast: Where Are They Now

Last Man Standing captivated audiences for nearly a decade, following the lives of Mike and Vanessa Baxter, played by Tim Allen and Nancy Travis. Now, years after the show’s conclusion in 2021, fans still wonder what might have become of the beloved sitcom cast.

‘Last Man Standing’ Cast: Where Are They Now? Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Kaitlyn Dever and More

Last Man Standing has ended, but the show’s stars including Tim Allen, Nancy Travis and Kaitlyn Dever have remained on our screens.

The sitcom started out on ABC and starred Allen as an executive at a sporting goods store chain in Denver, Colorado. Mike Baxter was a married father of three daughters and a grandfather to his eldest daughter’s son. Last Man Standing aired on the network from 2011 to 2017 before moving to Fox for three more seasons.

Last Man Standing marked Allen’s return to the sitcom world after playing Tim “The Toolman” Taylor on Home Improvement from 1991 to 1999.

“The word that keeps me alive is ‘grateful.’ I love what I do. I get far more enjoyment out of entertaining people than anything monetary,” Allen exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020. “I love the live audience we have. I tell them every night, ‘This is old-school stuff, what television and broadcast started with.’ I don’t know the future, but this [show] is rare.”

Allen praised Last Man Standing for not trying to reinvent the wheel.

“We did the same thing as we did with Home Improvement. It’s all about the relationships — we don’t get into topical stuff. But [now], I’ve just got girls, so you see how a man differs in his perspective when he has so many strong women around him,” he continued. “We never make fun [of each other]. It’s an affectionate family. I like the fact that we honor and make fun — at the same time — marriage, institution, kids, babies, people. But in the same way, we honor it. We’re not being snarky about it.”

Talk of Father’s Day coming up on Sunday led into Kelly admitting she couldn’t believe how she nabbed her husband, Mark Consuelos.

He and Kelly met while co-starring on the longtime soap opera, All My Children.

They have been married since 1996 and share three kids – Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19.

It was during Kelly’s talk of marrying Mark that she shared a NSFW comment.

A confused Kelly began: “To marry a romantic who likes putting things together and fixing things?

“I’m just a girl from New Jersey with minimal skill sets with everything.

“I’m not particularly good. I have no gifts, I’m not talented.”

The talk show host, 51, didn’t stop there, though.

She added: “I don’t have big boobs. I have nothing to offer!”

Ryan, 47, had been listening calmly, but this comment shocked him and had him awkwardly laughing and having to put his head down on his desk.

After lifting it back up, he seemed uncomfortable as he shuffled random papers in front of him that he wasn’t even using.

Then he covered part of his face, the side closest to Kelly, to hide himself a little, looking horrified and shocked by her sharing this.

“But somehow I’ve convinced him that there’s something special going on,” she continued. “Maybe that’s my skill? Hypnosis.”

Earlier in the week, Ryan had his own shocking scene as he had a bit of a blunder with one of the dogs they had on the show.

During Monday’s broadcast of Live with Kelly and Ryan, the hosting duo had some fun on set with a few dogs.

They were joined by training expert Andrea Arden, who was teaching them some tricks.

Unfortunately, Ryan wasn’t able to learn the lessons quickly enough, as he had troubles with the pups.

At one point, he found himself on the ground, trying to get a dog to come back to him.

The expert had to come in and trade dogs with him in order to help out.

That didn’t help for long, though, as this next pup soon ran away from Ryan, as well.

This time, he had to run off set and behind the stage to chase after the animal, before carrying the pup back to front and center a short while later.

Meanwhile, Kelly and Andrea worked to keep the rest of the segment going and on topic.

“I’m trying to stay focused,” the latter said, as she briefly turned her head to watch Ryan running all over the set.

Kelly decided: “This dog is afraid of Ryan!”

She then jokingly asked him: “Ryan, what cologne did you wear today?”

Also during the episode, while Kelly spoke about her own body on Friday, she mentioned Ryan’s on Monday.

He showed off a copy of a photo he’d posted to his Instagram on Sunday, in which the 47-year-old showed off his bulging arm muscles in a tiny T-shirt he’d had rolled up.

Kelly pointed out that he was clearly flexing while grilling in order to show off his massive biceps.

The television personality has been involved with the ABC game show way before she became their social media correspondent.

Her father Pat spent over 40 years as the host of Wheel of Fortune, before retiring and giving the reins over to Ryan Seacrest. He was first hired in December 1981 to replace the original host Chuck Woolery. Sajak originally started with Susan Stafford but she was replaced after a year by Vanna White.

For the show’s 50th anniversary, Maggie gave Access Hollywood an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the infamous set. During the tour, she said Wheel of Fortune holds a special place in her life.

She said: “Obviously this show is a huge part of my life and my family’s life.”

Once she came on board as a correspondent, she realized how many others are equally affected by the show’s presence.

“It’s a huge part of so many lives over generations now which is just crazy to even think,” she admitted.

Maggie made her live television debut in 1996, at just one year old.

A few years later, Maggie and her brother Patrick filled in for her father and Vanna during a special episode.

She reflected on that experience: “I didn’t even realize at that age the impact of the show so seeing it now and seeing those moments, I’m like ‘Wow, little did she know.’”

Underneath the Youtube video, several longtime fans gushed about Maggie and how it’s been to see her grown up in front of their eyes.

On Monday night, the top 12 performed Billboard #1 songs of their choice. And since Taylor has 11 total #1 songs on the chart, there was no surprise that not one, but two, singers covered the 34-year-old singer’s hits.

The show kicked off with Abi Carter performing All Too Well for judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. After Abi’s performance, Ryan walked out in an oversized black Taylor Swift Eras tour t-shirt.

“It’s my sleep shirt. I got it extra big,” Ryan said as the audience cheered. Judge Katy Perry could be heard shouting from the judges’ table: “Ryan, you’re a Swiftie?”

Ryan turned to Abi and asked her if she listened to Taylor’s newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which came out a few days ago. “Of course, I’ve listened to every song,” she said.

“How many times?” Ryan asked. When Abi answered three, Ryan emphatically said: “Me too!”

Then later in the show, McKenna Faith Breinholt sang Cardigan from Taylor’s Folklore album. After her performance, the show’s longtime host came out wearing a buttoned-up white cardigan with black detailing – another one of Taylor’s merch items.

As Ryan talked about McKenna’s performance, he stopped mid-sentence to tell Katy: “It says Folklore, Katy,” as she was probably trying to figure out the small wording on the side.

“Oh wow I think I have that,” Katy said, referring to the sweater. Ryan quipped back: “We all do.”

Fans on social media loved the outfit changes. “Ryan you are a riot,” one fan on Twitter wrote.

“RYAN’S SHIRT HELPPPP,” another fan wrote. Others knew exactly the shirt he was wearing as a fan penned: “Omg Ryan Seacrest is wearing the evermore eras tour shirt.”

Some fans wanted his wardrobe, writing: “RYAN GIVE ME THAT FOLKLORE CARDIGAN I DESERVE IT MORE.”

Besides raving about Ryan’s outfits, social media users expressed their anger over who was eliminated at the end of the night. 12 became 10 as singers Jayna Elise and Roman Collins were voted out.

“This elimination on #AmericanIdol was soooo wrong,” one fan wrote. Another added simply: “I hate this show.”

Ryan Seacrest’s new Wheel of Fortune role is off to a rough start, as a recent promotional clip didn’t land well with fans.

The teaser, shared on Instagram, shows Seacrest standing beside his co-host, Vanna White, on the iconic game show’s set. Enthusiastically, Ryan declared, “I can’t wait to get to work,” while Vanna, holding a megaphone, cheered, “Let’s get you ready for fall.”

The scene then shifts to both hosts leaning over the wheel, now adorned with a pile of bricks. Ryan, after giving the wheel a spin, commented to Vanna, “You weren’t kidding, this is great for the biceps.” Vanna, smiling, lifted two bricks in bicep curls as Ryan made a funny face towards the camera.

The caption accompanying the video humorously noted, “Ryan’s building his Wheel-spinning muscles – one brick at a time.”

Why Fans Are Angry At Seacrest’s Hosting

Despite the video’s playful tone, fans expressed their dissatisfaction with Ryan replacing Pat Sajak, who retired at the age of 77 after his final episode on June 7.

One critic harshly stated, “What a poor choice!” Another discontented viewer lamented, “I can’t believe I can never watch Wheel of Fortune again….” A third mocked Ryan, saying, “Seacrest is so bland.” Another simply declared, “I won’t be watching,” while yet another disgruntled fan commented, “I can’t wait until I don’t watch you.”

A more understanding fan wished Ryan well, saying, “Pat Sajak left some huge shoes to fill, I wish Ryan Seacrest the best of luck in this new role! Y’all gotta remember, everyone is new at something at some point.”

Seacrest Allegedly Regrets ‘Wheel of Fortune’

While Seacrest hasn’t responded to the backlash, a previous report said he was already having anxiety over hosting Wheel of Fortune, as he’s realizing what big expectations he’s facing as Sajak’s replacement.

“Despite his glittering résumé, Seacrest is terrified,” a source told Closer. “He breezed through hosting Idol and had Kelly Ripa to lean on during Live — but Wheel is a different beast altogether.”

“The entire future of this beloved show now hangs on his shoulders, and he knows it!” they continued, adding Ryan knows how harmful it’ll be to his career if his new hosting gig flops. “It’s the biggest risk of his career. Ryan’s always been the picture of charm and confidence — but this time, the stakes are higher than ever!”

The announcement of Seacrest as the new host previously sparked controversy, primarily due to reports that his salary is in the tens of millions. This revelation came alongside the unsettling news that Vanna, who has been co-hosting with Pat Sajak since the show’s inception, had not received a pay raise in nearly two decades.

In response to this disparity, Vanna sought legal counsel and was reportedly prepared to leave the show. Behind closed doors, negotiations took place to secure a new salary for her. However, it remains uncertain whether her new compensation matches that of Seacrest, despite his being the newcomer.

Seacrest is currently filming Wheel of Fortune episodes, which are expected to air in the fall.

Wheel of Fortune, one of the longest-running game shows in television history, has captivated audiences for decades with its simple yet addictive format. The show’s enduring popularity can be attributed to its iconic hosts, Pat Sajak and Vanna White, as well as its ability to engage viewers of all ages.

Created by Merv Griffin, Wheel of Fortune debuted in 1975. The original concept involved contestants guessing letters in a puzzle to reveal a hidden phrase or saying. The show’s format was relatively straightforward, but it quickly gained a loyal following.

Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been the faces of Wheel of Fortune since 1983, forming one of the most enduring hosting duos in television history. Sajak’s witty banter and ability to connect with contestants have made him a beloved figure. White, known for her elegant fashion sense and charming personality, has become synonymous with the show’s iconic puzzle board.

Their chemistry and on-screen presence have played a significant role in the show’s longevity. Their ability to create a warm and inviting atmosphere has made Wheel of Fortune a must-watch for millions of viewers.

Wheel of Fortune’s enduring popularity can be attributed to several factors. Its simple yet addictive gameplay, combined with the iconic presence of hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White, has created a sense of familiarity and comfort for viewers. The show’s long history has made it a nostalgic favorite for many, and its ability to adapt to changing audience preferences has ensured its continued relevance.

As Wheel of Fortune celebrates its 40th anniversary, it remains a beloved and enduring part of television culture. The show’s legacy is a testament to the enduring power of great game show hosting and the timeless appeal of a well-crafted game.

Recently, it was confirmed that Ryan Seacrest would be taking over for Pat Sajak as the beloved host was retiring.

Sajak revealed in June 2023 that he would be stepping down from hosting Wheel of Fortune after an impressive 41 seasons.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” Sajak shared in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) at the time. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them,” Seacrest said.

Seacrest added, “Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease. I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition… I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”

White’s heartfelt farewell to Sajak highlighted the profound connection between the two long-time co-hosts.

With tears in her eyes, she expressed, “I love you, Pat … I don’t know how to put into words what these last 41 years have meant to me. But I’m going to try. Eight thousand episodes went by like that.” Her emotional tribute emphasizes the importance of their partnership, which has been a key element of the show’s enduring success.

The controversy surrounding Ryan Seacrest’s new role on Wheel of Fortune began with a promotional video released on the show’s Instagram account. Despite the lighthearted tone of the video, social media reactions were mixed. Some longtime viewers expressed disappointment and dissatisfaction with the choice of Seacrest as the new host.

Rumors of tension between Seacrest and Vanna White further fueled speculation. Reports suggested that White might consider leaving the show early due to difficulties adjusting to the post-Sajak era. However, White recently dismissed these rumors by sharing a photo of herself and Seacrest enjoying a meal together.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, the long-time game show icon admitted she felt “scared” about Seacrest taking over hosting duties after working with Sajak for so many years. White and Sajak began hosting the syndicated Wheel of Fortune when it debuted in 1983 and hold the record as the longest-running game show hosts in American TV history.

“I think our chemistry is good,” White said of her new partnership with Seacrest. “I had no idea what to expect when I’m used to one person for so long. I was very scared but he’s doing a great job.”

You can watch the interview below:

“I’ve known Ryan for probably 20 years,” White said. “But in the past couple of months, we’ve done some traveling together for the show, and we got to know each other a little better, too.”

Ryan Seacrest takes over as host, beginning September 9, 2024.

The show must go on! Vanna White will be absent from a few upcoming Wheel of Fortune episodes amid the famous letter-turner’s $7 million per year contract negotiations, RadarOnline.com has learned, with a teacher stepping in as her replacement.

The 66-year-old leggy bombshell allegedly got COVID-19 late last month during the gameshow’s annual “Teachers Week.” Wheel of Fortune producers realized they were in a crunch and reportedly called on the “Teacher of the Year” recipient, Bridgette Donald-Blue, to take White’s place at the iconic letter board for the week, according to Puck News.

This will mark the first time White has been absent from the show in nearly three decades.

Sources revealed to RadarOnline.com that “Vanna missed a day of taping the syndicated show as she was out sick” and “teachers had already arrived in LA to tape the episodes.” We’re told that “with the academic school year starting, it was not feasible to reschedule that day” to a later date.

We can also reveal that Donald-Blue “graciously agreed to fill in for Vanna for those five episodes.”

The “Teachers Week” episodes are set to air in October. RadarOnline.com has reached out to the Wheel of Fortune rep for comment.

White’s absence comes at an interesting time, considering she’s deep in negotiations for a massive pay raise after her longtime sidekick Pat Sajak announced his departure.

As reported, White is “playing hardball” with Sony bosses, who are allegedly scoffing at her high-priced demands. She recently brought in the big guns, hiring powerhouse attorney Bryan Friedman in hopes of working out a deal.

Sources claimed that Sajak was pulling in $15 million per year for his role as host, compared to White’s $3 million.

Despite having Friedman in her corner, insiders told TMZ that executives are not “receptive” to White’s pay raise demands. Her attorney allegedly asked Sony bosses to bring on a third party to evaluate White’s value, but the studio reportedly axed that idea.

The insider shared that executives believe they overpaid Saja — and don’t want to make the same mistake.

“Fifty percent of Pat’s salary is so outrageous that no one in their right mind could say that it’s fair,” a source spilled PEOPLE in July. “The negotiation is asking for much more than 50% of his salary. It’s asking for the same pay — if not more.”

However, Sajak’s replacement Ryan Seacrest reportedly negotiated a whopping $28 million when he takes over as host after Pat’s retirement in 2024. White’s demands would mark her first raise in nearly 20 years.

Season 41 of Wheel of Fortune — and Sajak’s last — is set to air on September 11.
