THE PRICE is Right has debuted a ‘complicated’ and ‘easily rigged’ new game as viewers fear the segment is the ‘death of the show.’

The Price is Right kicked off season 54 on Monday, September 22.

The episode premiered its new game, The Lion’s Share, which is a partnership with BetMGM.

On the episode, contestant Marian joined host Drew Carey on stage to become the first person to play the new game.

She entered into a chamber and guessed the prices of all five items correctly.

The household items included a toaster, whisk and more.

She was then able to pick five balls in the chamber, which floated around her.

After choosing, the contestant then chose the ball number she wanted to play from a digital screen.

Marian ended up winning a $14,419 trip to Tokyo, a hot tub worth $11,421, $2,000 cash from two balls and two guitars worth $5,250.

She won a total of $33,090.

But fans weren’t impressed with the new game, as one wrote on Reddit, “The ball wind booth was silly but made for a fun game. Prizes seem really good!

Price is Right host Drew Carey left stunned after contestant wins thousands in ‘hardest’ and ‘most-hated’ segment
“Not sure what the whole ‘Sponsored by MGM Grand’ disclaimer was about. Could this be a temporary game?”

A second commented, “Sponsored games sound like the death of the show. This game was way too complex.”

A third penned, “Idk if I trust the digital screen giving out the prizes either.”

A fourth said, “I thought the same about the digital screen. They could 100% choose any prize they want and show it on the screen.

“The prizes should have been on little pieces of paper inside the balls she chose.”

    The Price is Right Hosts

The Price is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.

Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)

Drew Carey – October 2007 to present

Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes, also hosted the nighttime version

Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special

A fifth wrote, “Horrendous game all around. Too long, too easy, too luck based, and on top of that, sponsored by a gambling app. Hopefully that was the last time.”

But the game isn’t the only change the show has made for the new season.

The show also announced a new showrunner ahead of Season 54.

John Quinn joined the game show as the executive producer and showrunner.

The Price Is Right fans reacted to a throwback photo of the game show‘s host, Drew Carey. The show’s Instagram page shared photos from the Season 39 premiere and the Season 54 premiere, 15 years later.

“Seeing @drewfromtv’s face year after year brings me a comfort I cannot describe. #ThePriceisRight #DrewCarey,” CBS captioned their Instagram post.

In the first photo from 2010, Carey sported thick black glasses, blonde hair that fell down past his ears, and a gray suit with a floral tie. The second photo had an older Drew Carey in 2025. He still has glasses on, but the plastic frames are now clear. His greying hair was swooped to the right and shorter.

In the latest photo, the host wore a navy striped suit with a patterned blue and orange shirt. Carey had the long microphone in both photos, but the 2025 one appeared longer.

Carey started hosting The Price Is Right in October 2007, after Bob Barker retired from the game show. Fans have seen Drew Carey throughout his nearly 20-year run on the show. Many commented on his changed appearance and how they love him as a host.

Tim Allen’s Sitcom Almost Got the Axe—ABC’s Sudden Doubts Spark Panic Among Fans

Tim Allen’s New Sitcom Faced Potential Cancellation Scare at ABC

Just months after its highly anticipated debut, Tim Allen’s new sitcom, “Shifting Gears,” reportedly faced serious consideration for cancellation by ABC.1 This news, which has sent ripples through the entertainment industry and among the show’s dedicated fanbase, comes despite the multi-camera comedy enjoying a strong initial reception.

Tim Allen lists $1.95M Bel Air home | Page Six

According to sources close to the network, while “Shifting Gears” launched with impressive viewership numbers in January, becoming ABC’s most-watched streaming premiere for a comedy to date, its performance in subsequent weeks raised concerns.3 Live viewership steadily declined after the initial buzz, leading network executives to reportedly weigh the financial implications of continuing the series, especially considering its star-studded cast, including Allen and Kat Dennings.

The premise of “Shifting Gears” revolves around the relationship between estranged father and daughter, Matt (Allen) and Riley (Dennings), as they attempt to rebuild their bond after Riley and her teenage children move back into Matt’s home. The show also features a talented ensemble cast including Seann William Scott and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell. While the storylines have resonated with a segment of the audience, the dip in consistent viewership seemingly put its future in jeopardy.

5 Reasons Tim Allen's Shifting Gears Reviews Are So Bad

This revelation highlights the often-cutthroat nature of network television, where even shows with promising starts can find themselves on the chopping block due to fluctuating ratings and budgetary considerations. The cost associated with established stars like Tim Allen often adds another layer of complexity to renewal decisions.

However, it’s important to note that while cancellation was reportedly considered, the final decision remains with ABC. The network is expected to make its final renewal announcements in the coming weeks, leaving the fate of “Shifting Gears” hanging in the balance. Factors that could still play a role in its potential renewal include its performance in delayed viewing, its appeal to specific demographics, and the overall strength of ABC’s comedy slate for the upcoming season.

The possibility of “Shifting Gears” facing cancellation so early in its run has undoubtedly caused anxiety among its fans, who appreciate Tim Allen’s return to the sitcom format. Many are drawing parallels to his previous successful ABC sitcom, “Last Man Standing,” which was initially canceled by the network before being revived by Fox for several additional seasons.

Whether “Shifting Gears” will follow a similar trajectory remains to be seen. For now, fans will be eagerly awaiting ABC’s official announcement, hoping that the initial success and the show’s comedic potential will be enough to secure a second season for Tim Allen’s latest venture. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining if “Shifting Gears” gets another chance to rev its engines on ABC.

  • Why Happy’s Place Beat Out Reba Revival—The Controversial Reasons Fans Didn’t See Coming

Why Happy’s Place Beat Out Reba Revival—The Controversial Reasons Fans Didn’t See Coming

Happy’s Place is rated better than Reba Revival for controversial reasons.

Happy’s Place’s Unexpected Reign: Controversy Propels it Past Potential “Reba Revival”

The television landscape is often unpredictable, and the recent success of Reba McEntire’s new sitcom, “Happy’s Place,” over the much-discussed possibility of a “Reba” revival, is a prime example. While many fans held onto hope for a continuation of the beloved early 2000s series, “Happy’s Place” has not only arrived but, according to some metrics and online buzz, has surpassed the hypothetical revival in terms of ratings and attention – and perhaps for some surprisingly controversial reasons.

One of the key factors contributing to “Happy’s Place’” unexpected success, and the controversy surrounding its higher rating compared to a non-existent “Reba Revival,” lies in its deliberate departure from the familiar formula. Creator Kevin Abbott, who also helmed the original “Reba,” explicitly stated his intention to explore “more adult stories” in “Happy’s Place,” moving away from the traditional family sitcom dynamic.1 This shift is evident in the premise: Reba’s character, Bobbie, inherits her estranged father’s restaurant and is forced to run it with her previously unknown half-sister, Isabella.

Reba's Melissa Peterman Shares Celebs Who Want to Cameo on Happy's Place | Us Weekly

This new dynamic, particularly the introduction of Isabella (played by Belissa Escobedo), has become a significant point of contention and a potential driver of the show’s higher visibility. Some viewers find Isabella’s character – often portrayed as a Gen Z individual clashing with Bobbie’s more traditional Southern sensibilities – to be a refreshing and humorous source of conflict. The generational differences and the forced sibling relationship create a dynamic that feels contemporary and allows for storylines that the original “Reba,” with its established family structure, might not have explored.

However, this is also where the controversy arises. A segment of the “Reba” fanbase finds Isabella’s character grating, even “unlikable,” as some online comments suggest. They argue that the focus on this new, divisive character detracts from the core appeal of Reba McEntire and the kind of heartwarming, family-centric humor they cherished in the original series.

The very element that makes “Happy’s Place” distinct and perhaps more appealing to a broader, potentially younger audience, is the same element that alienates some of the dedicated “Reba” loyalists.

The irony is palpable. The very reason a “Reba Revival” was so desired was the nostalgia for the established characters and their relationships. Yet, “Happy’s Place,” by intentionally forging a new path with different character dynamics and more “adult” themes, has seemingly captured more attention and potentially higher ratings.

This suggests that while nostalgia is a powerful force, a direct retread of a beloved series might not always resonate as strongly as something new, even if that newness comes with its own set of controversies and divisive elements.

Happy's Place Is Better Than A Reba Revival Because Of One Divisive Character

Furthermore, the casting of Melissa Peterman, who played the iconic Barbra Jean in “Reba,” in a new role as Gabby in “Happy’s Place” has also contributed to the conversation.

While her comedic timing remains a draw, the similarity of Gabby’s eager and somewhat overbearing personality to Barbra Jean has led some to criticize the show for not fully differentiating itself. However, for others, Peterman’s presence is a welcome link to the past, even in a new context.

Ultimately, the “controversial reasons” behind “Happy’s Place’” apparent success over a “Reba Revival” boil down to its willingness to be different. It has embraced new characters and explored different comedic and thematic territory, which has garnered attention and likely a wider audience, even if it means alienating some of the original “Reba” faithful.

The debate highlights the delicate balance between honoring a beloved legacy and forging a new identity in the ever-evolving world of television. While a “Reba Revival” remains a tantalizing “what if,” “Happy’s Place” has carved its own, perhaps more contentious, but undeniably successful, place in the current sitcom landscape.

Party-hearty Drew Carey has been whooping it up in Las Vegas, where he’s wooing an OnlyFans model half his age — but insiders reveal that friends fear the lonely Price Is Right host is mired in a late-life crisis.

The 67-year-old funnyman was caught partying and flirting with young babes until 6 a.m. at an electronic music fest in Sin City in May, and an insider says that “people around him are worried he’s not doing it in a very healthy way.”

“Staying up until the early morning at a music festival where all kinds of shenanigans are going on is not a good look, especially for someone who quit drinking and overhauled his entire life when his health became jeopardized.”

Weeks before, the quizmaster was spotted wooing former Penthouse Pet Niki Skyler, 37, on a cozy lunch date.

The budding romance is his first since his former fiancée, Amie Harwick, was tragically murdered in 2020 by an ex-beau, leaving Drew devastated.

Still, the comic dropped more than 80 pounds by limiting carbs and with regular gym workouts that helped him kick his type 2 diabetes to the curb.

“Friends are proud of his progress, but he seems to be putting himself in dangerous situations where he might be tempted to regress,” says a source.

“Staying out until the wee hours is a red flag at his age.”

During a January 2024 appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, Drew revealed his mental health battle as a teen included “two suicide attempts” at 18 and in his early 20s.

Despite his career success, he notes, “I have a lot of that still.”

Now, sources say his partying is a warning signal to his pals.

“People understand he is lonely and feels he’s missing out on fun, but they’re advising him that he’s playing with fire by partying with this wild crowd,” says the source.

    “That’s very worrying.”

‘The Price Is Right’ Player Dishes on Drew Carey & Spills Show Secrets After $50,000 Win

    The Price Is Right

The Price Is Right winner Daivs Darusman shared what host Drew Carey and the crew are actually like. Plus, he spilled other behind-the-scene secrets, like what prizes he took home and the taxes beind it.

Darusman went home with a bunch of prizes and many memories after winning on the June 11 episode of the game show. He first won a Canon digital camera, worth $2,499, on Bidder’s Row.

Darusman then came to the stage to play Take Two. This game has the contestant pick two prizes from the four on the board. There is a price on top of the board. The two prizes selected have to equal the target amount exactly in order for them to win all four prizes. Darusman had to choose from designer shoes, countertop appliances, exercise equipment, and a skee ball machine.

The target price was $7,034. He asked the audience for help and then decided to choose the designer shoes because “That’s what his wife would choose.” He then asked for help from the audience on the second choice by having them make noise and whichever item had the loudest cheer, that’s the one he would pick.

The crowd was the loudest for the skee ball game. The designer shoes were $2,535 while the skee ball was $4,499. This added up to $7,034, so he won all four prizes.

He then went on to win the Showcase. Darusman bid $35,000 on camping gear, a pair of air purifiers, and a 2024 Soul Red Crystal Mazda MX–5 Miata Sport. The actual price was $35,769, giving him a difference of $769, making him the winner. In total, his prizes cost $50,888.
'Price is Right' host reveals secrets to winning the game
After his big win, Darusman took to Reddit to do an “Ask Me Anything” session. One fan asked him “What was the staff like behind the scenes? Did you get to meet and talk to Drew?”

“The staff was incredibly kind!” The Price Is Right contestant shared. “From the pre-show interview, with a casting producer gathering 10-15 people in 1 room to ask peoples’ names, hometowns, and occupations, to the models and especially Drew, who matched our energy and was very kind and spoke with the audience during each commercial break.

“He made a few borderline inappropriate but hilarious jokes, one that comes to mind was an innuendo about shrub trimmers, one of the game prizes that left him visibly hesitant to joke further while on-camera.”

About his prizes, Darusman said that he took the cash, minus seven percent for California state taxes, for the car because he is an out-of-state resident. But, he walked away with “the camera (I’m a photographer/videographer), one pair of Louboutins out of three, a generator, and forfeited the rest due to taxes.” He also revealed that contestants turn in a size before the show, so they get the right size for shoes if they win.

“As much as I wish I could’ve kept everything, I realistically was not going to use or already had what I won and didn’t want to pay taxes on them,” Darusman said.

Drew Carey sadly reveals how popular game from The Price is Right was almost destroyed

Drew Carey Reveals How Price Is Right Was Almost Destroyed By Plinko

Drew Carey opens us about a time the Plinko game almost destroyed The Price is Right. Originally hosted by television personality Bob Barker, The Price is Right has clocked in over 9,000 episodes since its debut on CBS in 1972.

Featuring a rambunctious studio audience and prize models as the core elements of the game show, The Price is Right named Carey as the replacement host for Barker in 2007 but kept most of the show’s structure and iconic games intact.

Speaking on the SiriusXM show Jeff & Larry’s Comedy Roundup, Carey reveals how The Price is Right was almost destroyed by Plinko. During his second season as host, Carey experienced a mishap onset due to a manipulated game of Plinko. Remembering the incident, Carey explained that a college student winning $30,000 after three dropped Plinko chips was a behind-the-scenes glitch that almost cost The Price is Right a fortune.

There’s a college girl that got to play Plinko, and she dropped her first three chips right down in the $10,000 spot. People were on their feet, jumping up and down and cheering. I mean, the crowd was going wild. She dropped the fourth chip, the floor director comes over, stops the chip, and leans into me and he goes, ‘The game is fixed.’

Drew Carey hosts iconic game show The Price Is Right

After hearing this information from the floor director, Carey reportedly felt his hosting tenure of The Price is Right would have a short shelf life. “‘I’m going to jail. I’m losing my job. There’s gonna a scandal,’ all these emotions going through my head,” Carey shared.

Apparently, before the season, a commercial for The Price is Right video game was filmed using the Plinko board adjusted with a fishing line to feature a winner. Reportedly, the fishing line was never removed before the college student’s turn at Plinko. However, the contestant was awarded $30,000 in Plinko earnings off-camera and The Price is Right‘s reputation remained unadulterated.

As it stands, The Price is Right continues to maintain its status as a wholesome daytime television show. Overall, The Price is Right has been a staple of weekday television and the game of Plinko continues to endure. Of course, after decades on the air, the game show continues to dole out legendary moments in television history. Despite a few setbacks,  The Price is Right has been around long enough to overcome any hurdle and continues to provide entertainment as one of America’s favorite game shows.

Price is Right fan calls out Drew Carey after host claims ‘nobody ever gets it right’

One viewer tuning in to Friday’s episode of The Price is Right was quick to correct host Drew Carey after he made a pretty bold statement.

    Price is Right cover up

A Price is Right fan took Drew Carey to task over a declaration that no one ever easily wins one specific game on the show, taking to social media with the “receipts” proving he was incorrect.

As some players on the CBS show react to their games by refusing to see if they won or lost, and some lose everything on a “gut feeling,” fans are continuing to tune in and learn behind-the-scenes secrets and see major prizes being handed out to those who play the game well.

However, longtime fans with sharp memories are also making sure to call out when Carey makes an incorrect statement on the show.

This occurred during the Friday, June 13 episode as the second player of the day, Aurora, went up to play for a chance to win a Hyundai Elantra SE car.

She was set to play Cover-Up, a game in which she had to correctly guess the numbers in the car’s price to win.

    Price is right

As he introduced the game and explained how to play, Carey told Aurora that if she was able to correctly guess the price in its entirety on her first try, she would go down in game show history.

“Now, if you get it right the first time, you might be the first one in Price is Right history,” he said. “Nobody ever gets it right on the first try.”

However, one fan disagreed, quickly taking to X (formerly Twitter) to call out that it had happened.

“Actually, Drew…someone HAS won the Cover Up game on the first attempt…and I brought receipts!” they wrote alongside a link to a video.

    Price is right

The clip showed an episode from June 12, 2007, exactly 18 years prior, and when Bob Barker was still the show’s host.

The player, Anna, took to the stage with the hopes of winning a Chevy Impala–and she managed to correctly guess the price on the first try, of $21,495.

In Aurora’s case, unfortunately, she did not guess correctly on her first try–though she was able to continue playing by getting two numbers right.

She wound up losing the game though, after guessing incorrectly on the final number of the price–saying the car was $24,568, when it was valued at $24,168.

The Price is Right airs weekdays on CBS.

Paul Simon of ‘Simon & Garfunkel’ is perhaps one of the greatest singer-songwriters of his day, and if an ‘American Idol’ judge is reminded of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer at an audition, it says a lot about the contestant.

What would be more astonishing is if that contestant got rejected by two other judges, only to come back because the crew wanted him. ‘American Idol’ fans know this story all too well; the contestant is Jack Blocker, whose audition was one for the books, and a year after being placed third in ‘American Idol’ Season 22, the folk singer-songwriter just released his debut album, ‘The Land on Most High’.

Blocker described his new album as “a collection of nostalgic daydreams,” as per Grateful Web. “It’s a picture that’s painted using hundreds of little memories and moments—the driveway basketball games, motel naps, homemade slip ‘n slides, and trailside snacks that seemed insignificant at the time but continually creep back around to scratch my brain. My hope is that the deeper I dive into my own memories through these songs, the more vividly each person listening will imagine theirs,” he said. And in an interview with Us Weekly, he discussed in detail how the reality-TV show that he was almost kicked out of in the audition changed his life.

“I don’t think Idol ever advertises that you’re going to leave with a career,” he told the media outlet. “I think they advertise that you’re going to leave with more opportunity than you walked in with. And I think that is very true. However far you get on the show, it’s more than what you walked in with.” For Blocker, the ‘American Idol’ journey had been particularly interesting. “I think you have a really good-sounding voice, I think you’re doing some bad habits with the way you’re delivering,” Katy Perry said at his audition. Even Lionel Richie gave him a ‘No’. As the season progressed, both judges apologised to the Nashville resident, as per Parade.

But ‘Idol’ doesn’t always make you a superstar, and the grind for musicians remains. For Blocker, too, ‘American Idol’ gave him the kickstart he needed, but his life hasn’t been a bed of roses. “It’s tough sometimes to come from the show and then you go to play for 20 people in Iowa,” he told Us Weekly. “The magnitude of it is so stark. But if music is the goal, then all of that is just part of it. I don’t think Idol doesn’t hold up their end of the deal at all. I think they do exactly what they advertise. And they’re really awesome at it, and they’re so kind afterward, and they want to help out artists, but at the end of the day, an artist has to do their job,” he added, expressing the dedication he has towards his art.

Later in the interview, he shared what drives him in his life: “I love the journey, and I think the journey is part of what makes a career flourish. This is the philosophy that has helped him navigate the ups and downs of his singing career. “The financial side can definitely be frustrating. The social media side can be frustrating,” Blocker said, but underscored that the journey is all that one should focus on.

And I said, ‘I remember having those moments in 1990,’” as per NBC. Reba McEntire then asked, “When was the moment that you guys knew we were all going to be friends?” Snoop Dogg replied, “I’m one of those kinds of guys that the spirit has to connect instantly off the rip, and as soon as I walked into the room, as soon as we sat down next to each other, you could feel it in the air; it’s in the spirit.”

Horan echoed Snoop Dogg’s feelings, saying he felt the friendship “pretty much straight away.” He added, “I never met Snoop before. I obviously worked with Reba before, and I’ve known you for too long,” gesturing toward Michael Bublé. “But I was excited to meet Snoop and work again with you guys.” Snoop Dogg then gave Horan a glowing compliment, saying, “When I said I was coming back to The Voice, my folks were asking, like, ‘Who’s going to be there with you?’ So when I said Reba and Mike, they already knew the chemistry. When I said your name, it was like, instant heartthrob.”

Bublé shared a humorous heartthrob moment of his own, saying, “I was at the grocery store and someone started screaming my name, ‘Michael, Michael, Michael!’ And I came up to her, I said hi, and she said, “Can you get me Niall?” Fans also noticed Horan blushing at the attention from his fellow coaches. The excitement continues in ‘The Voice’ Season 28, with a teaser showing Horan being put in a hockey-style penalty box for “looking too good,” according to Bublé.

Notably, in a new ‘The Voice’ trailer, McEntire returns as a coach alongside Snoop Dogg, Bublé, and Horan.

She surprised the other judges by handing out folding fans printed with her face to the studio audience, asking, “Fans, who should they go with?” The crowd revealed the fans, prompting Snoop Dogg to joke, “When I say she got fans, she got FANS!” Snoop then dropped a rhyming verse for contestant Camille, “Camille, it’s time to get real; only you can seal the deal, based off the way you deal,” earning laughs from Bublé, as per Country103.7.

Horan engaged in flirty banter with a contestant, who teased him, “I love you! I know where you have birthmarks,” leaving him flustered. Bublé also playfully put Horan in the “penalty box,” joking, “When somebody’s a bad boy, we put them in the penalty box. Now you get two minutes for looking too good.” The season also introduces a new twist, ‘The Carson Callback,’  with host Carson Daly explaining, “Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks and I’ve never been able to do anything about it until right now,” surprising the coaches.
