[BREAKING NEWS] Today’s Savannah Guthrie shares ‘TERRIFYING’ new career move as she temporarily LEAVES show

Today’s Savannah Guthrie shares ‘terrifying’ new career move as she temporarily leaves show

Savannah Guthrie has been a mainstay on the Today show for over a decade, but the popular television personality announced last month that she is stepping away from the program.
Savannah Guthrie is gearing up for a new chapter as she plans to embark on a book tour.

The well-known NBC host, who has revealed she’ll be temporarily stepping down from her role at The Today Show, is hitting the road to promote her children’s book titled Mostly What God Does is Love You. Her latest children’s books follows on from her successful first picture book ‘Mostly What God Does,’ which topped the New York Times Bestseller list.

While Guthrie hasn’t signed off from Today yet — having recently been part of a Valentine’s Day engagement surprise — she’s scheduled to begin her book tour on Feb. 20, with stops across Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The book is tour is set to finish on Feb. 26.

Sharing insights about her book, Guthrie said, “We often tell our children how much we love them, but how different would our world be if we shared the simple truth that God loves them, too.”

“This book is my way of sharing that message with the next generation so they grow up knowing how cherished they are and how, in turn, they can share that same love with others,” she added.

In an Instagram live session last Thursday, Guthrie opened up about confronting a new career change later in life. Despite being a familiar face on the Today show, she admitted that going live on Instagram is “one of the scariest things” you can do online, reports the Irish Star.

She confessed: “Pressing go on an Instagram live is about 100 times scarier than any live shot I’ve ever done on NBC News.”

Guthrie opened up about her initial trepidation surrounding her first book tour, recalling the moment with fondness. “A year ago… I went on a book tour after Mostly What God Does came out, and before this time a year ago, I was so scared and nervous because, to go out and do this book, that was so personal and relatable, was terrifying. I didn’t know how it’d be received or if it’d be received well,” she reflected.

Jeopardy! contestant blasts rival onstage over ‘beef’ as they watch awkwardly from audience

As the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament kicks off, Ken Jennings gives the floor to Tuesday contestant to vent her ‘grievances’ with one of her past competitors
It’s getting hot during this year’s Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament.

Jeopardy! champs Matt Amodio, Hannah Wilson, and Doug Molitor were the first to face off, kicking off the game show’s tournament before three more competed on Tuesday. Matt, a Tournament of Champions semifinalist in 2022, snagged the win for round one, scoring a spot in the next round from taking down 8-time Season 39 winner from 2023 Hannah and 2024 TOC quarterfinalist Doug.

    Jeopardy!

On Tuesday, Margaret Shelton, Jaskaran Singh, and Skyler Hornback competed in game two, following Matt, Hannah, and Doug’s game. Although Margaret was there to play, she was given the floor to address beef she had with a particular contestant—the individual wasn’t currently competing against her on stage.

“I understand you are here because you have beef. You want to air grievances,” Ken said.

    Margaret

Margaret Shelton addressed her ‘beef’ with her past competitor Brian Chang when she competed on Tuesday’s episode

“Yes. The last time I was here Brian Chang snaked a question about Pittsburgh out from under me,” Margaret told Ken. “Roberto Clemente. I knew it. It was in the palm of my hand to be a hero.”

Clarifying, Ken added, “A hero for Pittsburgh.” Margaret agreed as Ken let her know that Brian happened to be in the audience right now, prompting the camera to pan to him. He just waved, and the audience laughed.

“Did you know that he was here just to shout out his unfairness?” Ken inquired.

“Oh, Absolutely,” Margaret said. “We’re in communications.”

Ken noted: “That’s good to know. Well, if there’s any Roberto Clemente material, Brian, you are not allowed to shout it out from the stands today. Mums the word.”

Margaret and Brian went toe-to-toe with each other in the 2022 Tournament of Champions, which Tyler Rhode also played. While she came in second, and Brian came in third, despite stealing her clue, she still triumphed over him even though they both lost to Tyler.

Margaret might now also have beef with one of the contestants she competed against on February 18 since she lost Tuesday’s games also.

She came in last place after the first commercial break, earning only $400, while Jaskaran was in the lead with $3,600 and Skyler pulled up the rear with $2,200.

Jaskaran ended up winning the game, taking home $21.8K and heading to the semifinals.

The Today show’s Sheinelle Jones has spoken out on her absence from the talk show, sharing that she is stepping away for the time being to deal with a ‘family health matter’
Journalist Sheinelle Jones has addressed her absence from the Today show, revealing that she is dealing with a “family heath matter.”

Jones, who is one of the beloved hosts of Today 3rd Hour, sparked concern after she was noticeably missing from fans’ screens last week.

As many were worried there could’ve been a switch-up in the network, the 46-year-old confirmed she was out due to a family issue.

    Sheinelle Jones

In a statement on Instagram, Jones penned: “Hi everybody….I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”

During the Wednesday, Jan. 15 broadcast, Jones’ Today co-host Savannah Guthrie said: “We want to share some news here about our friend Sheinelle. We know so many of you have been asking about Sheinelle and missing her and we miss her too.” She then went on to read off Jones’ personal statement on-air. After the update, her other co-host Craig Melvin sweetly added: “We all love you and we are so looking forward to having you back.”

[SURPRISE] The latest news about Dylan Dreyer has stunned fans

Dylan Dreyer steps in for Today co-star as show goes through shake-up

Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer stepped in for her colleague Al Roker on Tuesday, as he was absent from the Today show, and she shared the screen with Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie

Fans watching the Today show on Tuesday will have noticed a different line-up as Dylan Dreyer stepped in for her colleague Al Roker which comes amid an MSNBC anchor’s shock exit.

    Dylan Dreyer

The 43-year-old meteorologist, who is an anchor on the 3rd Hour, shared the screen with hosts Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie as Al was absent from the show. Hoda also used to host this segment but tearfully said goodbye to the morning program in January after 17 years. Dylan usually pops up later on in the program alongside Al, Craig and Sheinelle Jones, but this time she appeared on Today earlier than usual.

Al’s absence came just a day after he, Dylan and Craig announced that the NBC network morning show will be hitting the road later this month, hosting a special live show in celebration of Mardi Gras, which falls on March 4 this year. Hosts will broadcast the 3rd Hour live from New Orleans, Louisiana, they announced on Monday.

Sharing the news from Studio 1A, Al told viewers, “Now we’ve got some exciting news to share. We are taking the show on the road to New Orleans. On the 3rd Hour of Today on Friday, February 28 we’re going to head down to celebrate Mardi Gras in the Big Easy. We’re going to take in the parades, festivities, sights, sounds and tastes of the city.”

Dylan explained that fans can take part in the live audience during the special show, saying, “We want you guys to join in on our fun.” Craig also told viewers that Today is launching its ever food event, called Taste of New Orleans, which will see some of the city’s best chefs cook up their favourite dishes. Tickets for the live audience are sold out but you can register for Taste of New Orleans here, at the price of $249.

Today has been going through several changes recently, with Hoda Kotb stepping down in January. The legendary TV host ended her last day on the show wearing a white blazer and matching pants. She was joined by her colleagues, including Al and Carson Daly, as she said her goodbyes.

With tears running down her face, the anchor said, “I’m not even able to articulate it because I’m a mess most of the times, but I just want to say thanks. Carson [Daly], you’re like the secret sauce on this show, man. Without you the show doesn’t hum. Like, you have the thing and you brought it. You bring it every day.”

She continued, “Al, you’re my first friend here, the first person I met. When I got sick, you were the first person that walked into the room and said I was going to be okay.” She called co-host Savannah “her person” and said, “Who shows up for everybody? This girl When your brother died, it was this girl. When I was going through stuff with Hope, it was this girl. She’s in the room. She’s always in the room and I love you.”

Hoda closed out by showing love to her replacement, Craig. She said, “Craig, I mean, I’m so happy for you. You earned this. You own this. And come Monday at 7:00 a.m., I’m going to be dead asleep. But you’re gonna be fantastic. You’re going to bring it home! Craig, you’re gonna be so good. You and Savannah are going to be magic.”

  • [SO SAD] The Tragic Truth About What Happened To Reba Star

[SO SAD] The Tragic Truth About What Happened To Reba Star

The Tragic Truth About What Happened To Reba Star Scarlett Pomers

There is always going to be a star from “back then” that seemingly disappeared. In many cases, actors who starred in popular movies or shows from years ago have continued acting, but have not reached the same level of success they once had. This is certainly the case with the likes of Famke Janssen from the X-Men franchise, Jackie Earl Haley from Watchmen, or even with Lili Simmons from Banshee.

But being a sitcom star that vanishes into oblivion puts this particular celebrity on a whole different level. That is because people grow up watching sitcoms, often incorporating them into their daily routines. And in the case of sitcom kids, viewers almost grow up alongside the stars. For those that adored Reba McEntire’s WB sitcom, Reba, they saw Scarlett Pomers (AKA Kyra Hart) grow up before their eyes. But nowadays, she’s completely vanished from the spotlight. She has no Instagram presence, hasn’t taken a role since the show ended in 2007, and basically hasn’t been heard from.

The Cast of “Reba:” Where Are They Now?

Naturally, fans got worried. But those who know Scarlett Pomers best know that she has dealt with her fair share of traumas. Having Reba flirting with the idea of bringing her Texas-based sitcom back, fans wonder if they will ever get to see Scarlett return to the role that made her famous. Unfortunately, that is highly unlikely. Here is the tragic truth about Scarlett Pomers and where exactly she has gone.

Updated on February 7, 2023: Scarlett Pomers has continued to stay out of the spotlight since leaving Reba. She shared in an interview what she is pursuing in her photography career: “I do mostly fashion stuff, but I also shoot bands. I shoot their promo pictures and stuff like that, and a little bit of concerts, too. […] With fashion and other kinds of shoots, I can be a little more creative and have more say on the concepts [and] whatnot.”

How Did Scarlett Pomers Become Famous?

Scarlett Pomers was the definition of a child star. At just five years old, Scarlett made her debut in a Michael Jackson music video. From there, she began booking commercial after commercial. Casting agents were thrilled with her natural beauty and stunning red hair. Most of all, the young woman had a charisma that was unparalleled. Pomers was a star in the making.

Following small acting roles on Touched By An Angel and Judging Amy, Scarlett was cast in notable feature films such as Erin Brockovich and The Baby-Sitters Club. In 1998, she booked her first major role on Star Trek: Voyager, a series that would forever earn her money thanks to fan conventions. After playing Naomi Wilding for 16 episodes of the series, Scarlett was put up for some juicy roles, such as Kyra Hart on Reba.

Without a doubt, Reba is what made Scarlett famous. But it’s also the role that brought her the most conflict. Not only was she becoming intensely famous very, very fast, but her personal issues were also put into the spotlight.

Scarlett Left Reba To Deal With Her Eating Disorder

Scarlett says she was sixteen when her eating disorder began. While she never had anyone on a set tell her that she needed to lose weight, her battle with her self-image was amplified by growing up in front of millions of Reba fans.

“[My eating disorder] began at a bad time when I was stressed out about things in my life. You know, just normal things that people go through,” Scarlett said to E! in 2006. “It’s definitely not a choice. It’s not something where you wake up and go, ‘You know, I think I’ll have an eating disorder today.’”

After gaining a couple of pounds over Christmas, Scarlett innocently started a diet and obsessively working out. But things quickly spun out of control. She knew she had a problem when her habits with food and exercise became something that she had to hide from people. But eventually, her issues became clear.

The 5’2 actor lost a whopping 73 pounds in late 2005. Because of how serious her anorexia nervosa became, she was forced to leave Reba during most of the fifth season of the show. For the majority of that year, Scarlett was seeking help at a facility. Fortunately, she managed to gain some control over her issue after leaving and became an ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association. She even started her own non-profit helping people overcome their eating disorders when they can’t afford treatment.

What Happened To Scarlett After Reba?

After Scarlett returned to Reba, she decided that Hollywood wasn’t the place for her. She finished the show in the sixth season and then quickly went on to pursue music. Scarlett was into hard rock since she was a kid, so creating her own band was natural to her. She had already begun to do so while making Reba, but committing herself to music after the show was canceled was an important step to her.

Additionally, Scarlett also got into Kundalini yoga and even got her own teaching certificate. In her battle with anorexia nervosa, mastering the art and spiritual practice of yoga was essential.

While she still does music, Scarlett no longer pursues it as a career. Instead, according to Netline, Scarlett has become an avid photographer and makes her own jewelry to sell on various online stores. It’s clear she has banked quite a bit of money from being a child star, but wants to pursue things that are meaningful for her far away from the spotlight. So, no, it’s highly unlikely that Scarlett would return for a Reba reboot, or any other acting project for that matter.

About “Back to God” by Reba McEntire

The best known version of the song is McEntire’s from her 2017 album of Christian music. However, it was originally recorded by Randy Houser in 2008.

“I had to make it different because [Houser’s version] was so good,” McEntire told Rolling Stone. “So we got it on there, but it’s a great song! Everybody was saying, ‘Oh my gosh, we need this, we need this song right now.’ Well, we’ve always needed this song.”

She described it as a song about fellowship and God bringing people together.

“I think this album really helped… keep me busy on something that is good and positive and healing, which music is,” McEntire told The Oklahoman about the album. “These songs of faith and hope, that’s what you gotta have when you’re going through bad times — and good times. You gotta have faith and hope to carry you through each day.”

The lyrics to “Back to God” by Reba McEntire
    Oh have you looked around
    Have you heard the sound
    Of Mama’s cryin’
    Or do you turn away
    When you see the face
    Of the innocent dyin’
    In these darkest days
    Are you not afraid
    That it’s too late

You gotta get down on your knees, believe
Fold your hands and beg and plead
    Gotta keep on praying
You gotta cry, rain tears of pain
Pound the floor and scream His name
    ‘Cause we’re still worth saving
Can’t go on like this and live like this
    We can’t love like this
We gotta give this world back to God

    Have you lost a love?
Do you feel like givin’ up?
    Has your heart been broken?
    Are your kids okay?
    Will they come home safe?
    Do you lie there hoping?
You can make a wish, you can knock on wood
Oh it won’t do no good

You gotta get down on your knees, believe
Fold your hands and beg and plead
    Gotta keep on praying
You gotta cry, rain tears of pain
Pound the floor and scream His name
    ‘Cause we’re still worth saving
Can’t go on like this and live like this
    We can’t love like this
We gotta give this world back to God

You gotta get down on your knees, believe
Fold your hands and beg and plead
    Keep on praying
You gotta cry, rain tears of pain
Pound the floor and scream His name
    ‘Cause we’re still worth saving
Can’t go on like this and live like this
    We can’t love like this
    You can hope the best
    Make a wish
    The only answer is

We give this world back to God
    Oh, give it back

Ryan Seacrest spoke up in Carrie Underwood’s defense During American Idol Season 23 Amid Signs she Is Failing As A Judge

Ryan Seacrest Won’t Tolerate This Bad Behavior During American Idol Season 23 Amid Signs Carrie Underwood Is Failing As A Judge

American Idol's Ryan Seacrest and Carrie Underwood look serious

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest reportedly wants to make sure no rivalries form during the upcoming season, so he’s doing his best to ensure everyone gets along and won’t stand for a particular type of behavior. American Idol season 23 is the first time since ABC revived the hit singing competition series that there will be a shakeup at the judges’ table. Carrie Underwood is replacing Katy Perry as she gets ready to sit alongside superstars Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. After some recent controversies regarding Carrie, Katy spoke out to show support for her replacement.

Ryan Seacrest wants everyone involved on American Idol to welcome Carrie Underwood to the show for a very particular reason.

According to a source who spoke to Life & StyleRyan wants everyone involved on American Idol to welcome Carrie. “He wants to do everything he can to make sure Carrie avoids any pitfalls and stays golden in the fans’ eyes,” the source claimed, adding, “The best way of doing that is to be supportive and work as a team and ensure there’s no rivalry or cattiness; he’s made it known that won’t be tolerated.” The source claimed he received some backlash regarding “the Katy situation,” so the Idol host wants to make sure everything is smooth sailing for Carrie.

Life & Style’s source also said that Ryan has been taking Carrie “under his wing” since he not only calls her a “close friend” but he also wants to try to get her to return for multiple seasons. “He thinks it’s a huge coup to have one of the show’s biggest success stories front and center at the judges’ table,” they continued. There’s a hope that Carrie being on the judging panel will inspire the contestants throughout the season.

What Ryan Seacrest Taking Carrie Underwood Under His Wing Means

Ryan Seacrest Is Protective Of Contestants & Alums

If Ryan really thinks this way about Carrie and how she should be treated during American Idol season 23, it doesn’t come as a surprise at all. After all, Ryan always shows immense respect and care towards the contestants every single year, and that includes alums like Carrie. It’s unclear what the source is talking about regarding the “Katy situation.” The former judge could be very blunt and honest at times, but it’s not apparent how her behavior would have caused any backlash.

    jasmine alan cumming

After Katy’s recent comment and the source speaking on Ryan’s behalf, it seems like ABC wants to ensure no rumors start about whether the judges get along or how Carrie behaves on set. A lot is riding on American Idol season 23 to be successful ratings-wise. Carrie’s controversial decision to perform at the recent U.S. presidential inauguration created a headache the network doesn’t need right now. That, plus the singer’s timid personality compared to Katy’s quirky and extroverted personality, has caused a perception that Carrie will fail as a judge.

What Ryan Seacrest’s Insistence On No Cattiness Means For American Idol

Ryan Wants Everyone To Get Along

American Idol's Katy Perry holds her hands on top of her head, and Ryan Seacrest smiles widely.

In recent years, American Idol has really moved away from showing a lot of arguments among the judges. In the early seasons, Simon Cowell made the show must-see TV; he never hesitated to diss the contestants or his fellow judges. Even though Paula Abdul didn’t appreciate some of his comments, there was never really any personal rivalry; despite the (possibly manufactured) tension, they got along off-screen. After The Voice introduced a more congenial panel, American Idol tried to follow suit, though the Idol judges still provided honest feedback when necessary.

The one exception was American Idol season 12, which featured Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj alongside Keith Urban and Randy Jackson. Mariah and Nicki had an ongoing feud throughout the season, with their bickering starting right away during the auditions. Unlike The VoiceAmerican Idol has always put a focus on the contestants, but that particular season broke the norm. There’s no way a panel made up of Carrie, Lionel and Luke will form a rivalry. Carrie and Luke are fellow country stars who are all about lifting each other up, and Lionel always seems to get along with everyone.

Our Take On Ryan Seacrest’s Determination To See Carrie Underwood Succeed

American Idol Season 23’s Success Might Depend On Carrie Underwood

American Idol Season 23 judges Ryan Secreast, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan & Lionel Richie

It’ll be interesting to see how the contestants react to being in front of this particular panel, since Carrie is not only a former winner but she’s one of the biggest stars they’ve ever cast as a judge. Some of the auditioners might get starstruck, after all. Also, a big question is how Carrie will be as a judge. When she’s performing, she definitely puts on a show, but when she’s talking during an interview, she comes across as quieter and more reserved.

Ryan has been with American Idol since the very beginning, so, of course, he wants to ensure the show remains a success. Hopefully, the judges all get along and that everything is smooth sailing both behind the scenes and in front of the cameras. Carrie, Lionel and Luke have never come across as divas in any way, so that’s unlikely to start now.

Luke and Lionel have always been extremely likable; the same goes for Carrie, though her reputation has taken a hit after recent controversies. If producers want to ensure they get along, and that everyone who works backstage gets along, then there’s a good chance that will happen. Carrie, Lione and Luke don’t have any ill intentions in their roles as judges. They want to discover fantastic new artists and help guide them to greatness.

“My grandparents raised me from the moment I turned 2,” the hopeful tells the country star and fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan before being joined by his family. “She put everything she had in me all these years.”

Cut to Underwood ugly crying and blowing her nose.

And when Bryan jokingly asks, “You okay over there?” the emotional Underwood says through tears, “I’m not,” before Bryan comforts her with a giant hug.

Feelings aside, it’s safe to say the male singer’s vocal chops impressed the trio.

As Richie tells the contestant, “You need to be heard,” before he, Underwood and Bryan yell in unison, “You’re going to Hollywood!”

Of course, many other unknown talents are also hoping to earn a golden ticket with their auditions.

“I’ve wanted this since I was a little kid,” one admits in the teaser while another shares, “I’m ready for my life to change.”

And, yes, the first look promises many more tears of joy to come, both from the judges and the competitors. As Richie notes, “There are surprises in every person.”

As for how Underwood really feels about returning to Idol as a mentor 20 years after winning the show?

“I think I can be honest and constructive, but still kind,” the 41-year-old teased last August after it was announced she was replacing longtime judge Katy Perry. “And I think that’s the whole point, because people are coming in and it’s dreams. You’re part of somebody’s story from that moment on.”

Plus, Underwood already has her predecessor’s stamp of approval.

“She was born on that show,” Perry told People in January. “She actually truly knows. As artists, we’ve been in some sort of their shoes, but she has lived every single day. So I think she’s going to have a lot to offer anyone that’s willing to listen.”

American Idol premieres Sunday, March 9, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Reba McEntire Gives Rare Insight Into Romance With Boyfriend Rex Linn

Although Reba McEntire has kept her relationship with boyfriend Rex Linn low-key over the years, she recently opened up about it, revealing that they’ve “been pretty much inseparable” since they met.

“It was just like a magnet… We didn’t get to see each other from January ’til June 16, but we created an intimacy by texting and talking over the telephone that we wouldn’t have gotten if we’d have been together all of that time,” she opened up to E! on Tuesday, April 9.

Despite knowing each other since 1991, it wasn’t until 2020, following Reba’s guest appearance on Young Sheldon, a show in which Linn has been involved since its first season, that they began dating.

She elaborated on the beginning of their relationship amid the pandemic, expressing gratitude for the fact that their initial phase occurred while they were physically apart. “It was very special and it was a great way of finding out about each other without ever touching” McEntire said. “It was a wonderful way to get to know each other better.”

She noted that individuals often “gravitate to the physical so quickly.” She continued to emphasize the importance of an emotional connection rather than solely a physical one. “You know the ins and outs of their personality and their faults…You love them for the way they are, instead of it being a total attraction and sizing them up because of appearance.”

After their six-month virtual relationship, the country star shared that they’ve “been pretty much inseparable ever since June 16 of 2020.”

“Being loved is the greatest thing in the world… she gushed. “[Linn] makes me laugh. He is a very caring, down-to-earth, funny individual. He’s got a very witty sense of humor, very creative and I make him laugh.

McEntire has been married twice before — first to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987, and then to Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015.

With Blackstock, she shares a son named Shelby, who was born in 1990.

When asked if a third marriage was in the cards for her, she responded: “I’m truly committed to Rex. So if that’s something he feels totally strong about, that’s fine with me. He’s never been married before. So if he wants to experience that, I’m OK with that.”
