Hosts such as Pat Sajak and Drew Carey have displayed a unique charm and wit on their respective game shows, setting a benchmark for those after them to follow. Ryan Seacrest has only been a host on “Wheel of Fortune” for a few months since he replaced Sajak, and although he hasn’t done anything to stand out, he has presented himself as a kind and supportive individual. But sometimes, Seacrest shows that he can joke at the expense of a contestant. On a recent episode, the host told a contestant named Matt Benton, that he was embarrassing his kids on national television according to a Monsters & Critics report.

Benton made it all the way to the final round of the show after winning $22,148 in cash and other prizes including a trip to Iceland. He now had a chance to increase his winnings by a substantial amount and win a second trip. However, before the game began, Seacrest pointed out that the contestant’s wife was there to support him. “Yes, my incredible, sexy wife, Stephanie,” Benton said.

He then mentioned that he had three kids at home cheering him on. That’s when Seacrest took his dig saying, “And you just embarrassed all your kids with that exchange right there.” He was referring to what the contestant said about his wife and his children’s mother on national television. Nevertheless, the contestant’s focus was mainly on getting this puzzle right. After he chose his letters and the R, S, T, L, and E were revealed, the puzzle read, “_ / F _ R _ _ _ _ / L _ N D.”

This seemed like a tough one to crack and Benton had opted for the ‘Places’ category. He blurted out a lot of answers, neither of which were correct as the clock ticked away. With less than a second left, he guessed, “A faraway land,” which was the correct answer. This win gave him an additional $40,000 and a trip to the Canadian Rockies.

Fans of the show have not gotten used to Seacrest’s hosting style and he also has good comic timing. This was evident during a recent episode of the show with a contestant named Traci. She had made it all the way to the bonus round but was faced with a seemingly unsolvable puzzle. After all the letters chosen by the contestant and given by the show were revealed, the puzzle read, “T_E_ _O ___ __C_.”

With 10 seconds on the board, Traci guessed, “They go way back,” and that was the correct answer. Seacrest was in shock as he pretended to look all around the contestant to see if she had any earpiece on her that might have helped her guess the puzzle correctly.

Fans in the YouTube comments section expressed how impressed they were with Traci. “One of the most impressive bonus round solves I’ve seen for this season,” one user called @rayanhasan7251 commented. “I couldn’t solve that one to save my life, but Traci got it like it was nothing. Congratulations! Enjoy the moolah!” quipped another user named @Garrison_the_Barbarian.

Although Drew Carey may be in the spotlight most of the time as the host of “The Price is Right,” models who play their part on the stage also go viral for different reasons. Sometimes it’s for giving a car away and on other occasions it could be for being stern with contestants. Being composed and in control with so much energy around is a task, and once model Amber Lancaster ended up losing her balance on the set and smashing a few lights.

As host Drew Carey was speaking about the Showcase Showdown before the commercial break, Lancaster was standing right behind him, smiling at the camera. She seemingly took a step back and tripped in her stilettos, but regained her balance just before an embarrassing fall. However, there was collateral damage as she had unknowingly smashed a stage light into tiny pieces.

Lancaster was shocked when she turned around and saw what had just happened. However, the contestant at the time, a woman named Leah, asked, “Did I do that?” a question that considerably lightened the mood as the models on stage assured her that it wasn’t her fault. “Are you OK?” she then asked to which Lancaster replied, “Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just gonna die of embarrassment.” Drew Carey laughed off the whole incident and fans in the comments section of the YouTube clip felt the same. “You see everyone our models are only human after all,” one user called @davidfearis7335 commented. “If you’re a light bulb there are worse ways to go out,” quipped another user named @wmst5065. No one blamed Lancaster and wrote it off as nothing more than just an honest mistake.

Amber Lancaster is not the only one who has tripped on “The Price is Right.” Host Drew Carey is also guilty of the same thing. However, unlike the model, he wasn’t wearing stilettos and he couldn’t even regain his balance on time. It was perhaps during a commercial break as many crew members were on the stage at the time. Carey and a contestant were standing on the side and dancing.

The contestant had probably won a big prize just a few moments ago and was celebrating. Regardless, as he was dancing, Carey tried to balance himself on one leg but his body didn’t quite allow that to happen. He failed to balance himself on two feet, tripped on the stairs behind him, and fell on his back. He just lay there for a moment, looking up at the rafters, and just laughing.

“I’d get up but I’m too embarrassed,” he said. “My hamstring. I pulled a hammy,” he added. That was probably not true since he got up a few seconds later and looked absolutely fine. If a man wearing flat shoes can trip and lose his balance on those sets, it’s understandable how hard the models in heels have to work on a regular basis.

Drew Carey may have become the face of “The Price is Right” but he also has a supporting cast of models and an announcer to bring the stage to life. Although the models and the host have fun interactions on air and behind the scenes, there are also bloopers when one of them gives a car away by mistake and another rams a vehicle into the set. In one incident involving Alexis Gaube, the prize itself wasn’t damaged but she did make a mess while presenting it, and this brought out Carey’s witty side once again.

One of those four contestants had the chance of making it onto the stage if they came closest to the price of the item that Gaube was presenting. It was a double-doored refrigerator with LED lighting and an external ice and water dispenser. As soon as the model opened the fridge to show its interior, everything that was kept inside it fell on the floor leaving Gaube in shock while Carey started laughing hysterically.

“Alexis, leave all that, don’t even pick it up, just leave it,” he said as the model picked up some of the items that had fallen. “Of course, you’ll get a better refrigerator than that,” he told the contestants. “I mean this is just a floor model, folks…and that one’s not for sale.” The moment was so funny that even Gaube uploaded the clip on her personal Instagram handle. Fans in the comments section also joined the fun with their hilarious takes. “No wonder Drew laughed so hard the face expression you made. Oh my god did they prank you in the back room ha ha ha ha ha,” user mamaxsteak518 wrote. “Alexis…I just about died laughing when that refrigerator did that to you. Are you sure the crew didn’t sabotage you with that??!!” mary_davis729 asked.

Some spillage from a refrigerator isn’t that big of a deal considering the kind of accidents that have been witnessed on “The Price is Right” over the years. On an earlier episode of the show, veteran model Rachel Reynolds shocked everyone in the studio when she came out to present a car as a prize. As part of the presentation, she was meant to drive the car to the stage and stop it at an appropriate place. However, that did not happen.

Reynolds drove onto the stage but as she was waving to the crowd from the driver’s seat, she failed to step on the brakes in time. The car went straight across the set to the other side and crashed into a makeshift wall, completely tearing it apart. She was stunned by what had happened but tried her best to stay composed in front of the cameras.

“I’m so sorry, Cameron,” she said to the contestant as Carey asked her if she was alright. “I think the car is still okay.” It might have been a major mishap but everyone saw the funny side of it and today, it is one of the most hilarious bloopers in the show’s history.

As the host of “The Price is Right,” Drew Carey is no stranger to excited contestants jumping on him, lifting him up, swinging him around and even taking him down with them. But there was one occasion when it wasn’t the host who fell down on “The Price is Right,” but instead the announcer of the show, George Gray was knocked down by a contestant who lost control after winning a prize.

The contestant in question was a woman and she had just won a couple of paddle boards after playing the game called “Most Expensive.” She was super excited when her victory was revealed and he ran over to Gray who was standing in front of a couple of television screens and clapping for her. However, as she ran towards him, she lost her balance and that’s when the infamous events unfolded.
Screenshot showing announcer George Gray on the floor on Screenshot showing announcer George Gray on the floor on “The Price is Right” (Image credit: YouTube | priceisright)
The contestant tripped and in her attempt to prevent a hard fall, grabbed the nearest thing she could find, which unfortunately happened to be Gray’s suit. The woman was sprinting towards the announcer and there was no way she could have stopped the momentum. Hence the announcer was first pushed backward and pulled downward. Thankfully, his head didn’t hit any of the TV screens behind him, otherwise things would have been ugly.

Drew Carey just stood there and watched the whole thing unfold. A few seconds later he started laughing instead of checking on his colleague. Model Chrissy Teigen was there to help both the contestant and Gray. She even administered fake CPR to the announcer who saw the funny side of things and lay on the floor laughing. “We’ve got to clean this up,” the host said, still laughing his heart out.

George Gray usually stays in the background but this is not the only time that he has fallen on his back on the set of “The Price is Right.” In an earlier episode of the show, the announcer decided to do two jobs at once and was presenting the prize while announcing it too. The item was a treadmill on which he was walking backward while describing it. The multitasking probably proved to be a bit too much as he lost his balance and fell flat on his back on the exercise equipment.

It could have been a nasty incident had he hit the back of his head hard and sustained injuries there. What was highly impressive was how the announcer didn’t miss a beat and finished what he had to announce as he sat on the floor after falling. The fall looked painful but he didn’t let it stop him or lower his enthusiasm.

Drew Carey was so impressed with his co-worker that he hailed his professionalism as the announcer pat himself on the back and said, “Didn’t miss a word.” “That’s a pro right there buddy,” the long-time host of the show responded.

Drew Carey is a popular host and is usually very kind and supportive of contestants. He is always happy to celebrate with winners, even if it means having to endure pain due to overzealous players. One such winner went overboard, picked up, and swung Carey around after winning a brand-new car, triggering criticism from his fans.

In the episode, the player named Ethan was playing the game “One Away” with a brand new Dodge Hornet on the line. In the game, the player is shown five digits representing the fake price of the car. Each digit is one number away, up or down, from the correct number and the player has to correctly move the digits up and down to get the correct number.

They then ask the “Oh, Mighty Sound Effects Lady” if they have got one, two, three, or all the numbers right. If the player gets all the digits right, they win the game or if they get at least one digit right, they get another chance to change the numbers. The best outcome in this game is to get five right answers in a row.

For Ethan’s game, he was given the number 44161 as the fake price of the car. Carey explained that since it was a special episode, there was a bonus for him. If he got all five numbers right in one go, he would win the car and the cash equalling the price of it. Ethan then went on to change the displayed number to 345270 hoping it would be the price of the car. Carey then explained that he now had to “sincerely ask” the “Oh Mighty Sound Effects Lady” if the numbers were right, one by one.

For the first number, the sound effects lady returned the request with a car horn which meant it was correct. Ethan again prayed to the mighty sound effects lady for the second number which also turned out to be correct.

For the third number, Carey asked Ethan to stand up to the mighty sound effects lady. “All right lady, do have three numbers!?” the player yelled after which the lady responded with a loud and angry car horn. Now, for the fourth number, Carey asked Ethan to make up for the previous request and be nice. Turns out the player’s fourth guess was also correct. For the last digit, Carey made Ethan kneel down to the mighty sound effects lady and pray to her for the answer.

To everyone’s delight, the request was returned with a car horn which meant Ethan had won the Dodge Hornet and $35,270 in cash. The contestant dropped to the floor in joy, rolling from side to side. He then got up with Carey and went for a big hug only to pick him up and swing him around.

While the contestant was celebrating his win with the host, viewers weren’t happy about it. Fans expressed how uncool it was to hurt the host in a Reddit thread, which started with a user writing, “I cringe every time someone jumps on Drew. Wrapping their legs around him. Today was awful. Looks painful for Drew to me?”

“Drew is 66 years old now, I’m sure that kind of stuff is pretty hard on him,” @UnderwhelmingAF wrote.”I get that they llooovvvvveeeee Drew and they’re excited, but a little self control, people ffs!” @Brave_World2728 added.

‘The Price Is Right’ Revamps Plinko With a “Golden” New Twist

‘The Price Is Right’ Revamps Plinko With a “Golden” New Twist

One of the most famous The Price Is Right games, has added a new twist that has both fans and contestants raving. The American game show The Price Is Right is centered around contestants pricing grocery products and merchandise to win money. Some popular games on the CBS show include, Double Prices, Pay the Rent, Lunch-Bunch, and so much more. Over the years, some contestants like Cynthia Azevedo left a lasting impression on the longest running television game show by winning a million dollars in 8 seconds on the Clock Game. Meanwhile, other constraints like Corey exhibited huge failures, such as guessing that a hammock was worth about $7000.

While some games are a little more difficult to win at, there’s one game that seems to be almost everyone’s favorite and generally puts a little money in players’ pockets: Plinko. Plinko is the most popular game on the show, but it didn’t air in the series until 1983. Since then, it’s become the most widely recognized game on The Price Is Right. Its simple, yet strategic rules have allowed many contestants the opportunity of winning a few extra bucks. However, it’s a little over 40 years since the beloved game hit TV screens and the CBS crew has now up the ante with a new twist.

The Price Is Right' Revamps Plinko With a “Golden” New Twist

Plinko Is a Simple Yet Fun Game

The beloved Plinko game is simple yet effective, making it one of the best contests in the series. Most of the other games on The Price Is Right include guessing or a little more skill. So having some background knowledge of groceries, electronics, and the prices of other traditional household products is often helpful. However, Plinko is more of a strategy and statistics game. In Plinko, contestants are given a handful of balls or chips to play.

A ‘Sister Wives’ cast member unexpectedly debuted on a classic game show.

In some cases, they can earn more chips throughout the rest of The Price Is Right games. Then they head over to the Plinko board, which consists of pegs and slots with monetary values at the bottom. The contestants release the chips at the top of the board, they fall down, bouncing against the pegs, until they land on a monetary value at the bottom. Of course, most contestants’ goals are to hit the largest valued slot in the middle, but as long as the ball doesn’t fall into one of the two $0 spots, then contestants walk away with some change.

‘The Price Is Right’s Plinko Has a New Twist

The Plinko game was already a popular and well respected game, but now The Price Is Right has upped the scales. The premise of the game is still the same. Contestants have to strategically place the ball or chip to get it to land on the monetary value of their choosing. On a episode last month on The Price is Right, host Drew Carey explained to contestant Michelle the recent changes to Plinko. “You can win four more chips, but tonight we have a special twist to the game,” the host said. “One of the prizes has a special Golden Plinko chip attached to it. And if you get the gold Plinko chip, wherever [it] drops, we’re gonna times whatever it lands on by ten.” Meaning if the new golden chip lands in the $20,000 spot, the contestant will win $200,000 instead.

This new twist excites both contestants and fans. Sometimes, watching the same games over and over again can get boring and repetitive, even with the all-time favorites like Plinko or Stack the Deck. However, this twist adds a new spice to the game, making it more interesting for viewers to watch. At the same time, contestants have an opportunity to bring home even more money by playing an all-time favorite and simple game on the show.

In the end, the added golden chip is an interesting twist to the traditional Plinko game. Unfortunately though, it seems that, multiples might be a temporary change. In general, the golden chip is only used for a limited time as a promotional campaign to elicit more excitement or bring more awareness to a special episode, which it certainly did. Unfortunately though, The Price Is Right hasn’t announced how long the golden chip will be available and, since it’s a promotional aspect of the game show, it might not stick around forever. However, many fans hope the popular game show will keep the new and improved Plinko game for the long term.

The Price Is Right is available to stream on Paramount Plus.

Adam Levine is back and immediately causes a sensation on the first night of the competition of The Voice season 27

The Voice season 27 starts off with a bang as Adam Levine wins two four-chair turns and takes the lead

The Voice has officially kicked off its Season 27 with an electric premiere. The premiere featured the debut of newcomer Kelsea Ballerini, alongside current champ Michael Bublé as well as returning coaches John Legend and Adam Levine.

Is a New Episode of The Voice on Tonight? (February 3, 2025) | NBC Insider

The Season Kicked off With Multiple Four-Chair Turns

The first four-chair turn of the season was South Carolina raised singer, Grace Miller-Moody. She took a risk and performed “Sunday Morning” by Maroon Five. While arguing for the singer, John Legend joked that other coaches had no chance of getting the singer due to the song choice.

Following the audition, Kelsea Ballerini introduced her “Adam Insult Button.” While convincing the artist to join their teams, Ballerini hit this button, which aired Shelton’s voice insulting Levine’s judging capabilities. Legend ended up being right, since Grace chose Team Adam.

The second four-chair turn of the episode was Pennsylvania native Ethan Eckenroad. Ethan performed a Noah Kahan song, which fit his tone perfectly. When fighting for the singer, Ballerini made sure to mention that she has a song with Kahan. In rebuttal, John Legend sent out a dancer, holding a sign that said “Team Legend” to attract the singer to his team. Unfortunately, neither ploy worked, and Ethan chose to join Team Adam.

Kelsea Ballerini Hits First Ever Coach Replay

The first ever Coach Replay was used during the first night of the competition. The coach replay button was hit by Kelsea Ballerini, following Dan Kiernan’s performace of “High Hopes” by Panic! At The Disco. This BRAND new feature makes it so that the coach can decide to turn her chair for an artist after the fact. Legend and Bublé were shocked after Ballerini pulled this stint. Dan chose Team Kelsea.

Also joining Team Kelsea in this episode was returning artist Iris Herrera. Last season, she performed Fleetwood Mac’s “Gypsy,” but the coaches thought it wasn’t original enough to land her a spot on the show. She came back singing “You Are My Sunshine” and chose to join Team Kelsea.

The second singer to perform a coach’s song in the blind auditions is Angie Rey. The Latina singer loves country music, more importantly, Kelsea Ballerini.

Ballerini fangirl Angie Rey also joined Team Kelsea during the premiere episode. Angie performed “Penthouse” in her blind audition. The country coach was the only one to turn for Angie. The two even got to sing the song together after the blind audition!

    Other Teams Fill Up

Also appearing in this episode is Renzo, who performed “Simple Man” Lynyrd Skynyrd. His voice impressed John Legend, so much so that he chose to block Adam Levine. Although Legend, Bublé and Levine turned, Renzo joined Team Legend.

Jadyn Cree, daughter of The Voice Season 25 Finalist Bryan Olesen, took the stage singing “Still Into You” by Paramore. The young singer turned the chairs of Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini. She chose to join Team Bublé.

Singer Darius J came to the stage singing Usher’s “Caught Up.” Darius turned the chairs of Bublé, Levine, and Ballerini. Levine joked that his close friend CeeLo Green would love his outfit. The singer chose Team Adam.

The final singer to join a team was Carlos Santiago. The singer took the stage with Richard Marx’s “Right Here Waiting.” Bublé and Levine turned for him, but the singer chose Team Bublé.

Also featured in this episode was Zack Zaro singing “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears, and Lilli Doll singing Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” Both were told they had great renditions, but needed more time to develop their voices.

The 31-year-old singer-songwriter stood her ground among the musical heavyweights, determined to get the best performers on her team.

Are past contestants getting another shot at the Showcase Showdown? Details are scarce — Warfel only said it’s a concept “never done before” in the show’s 51-year history.

Producers are also keeping The Price Is Right exciting with its wide variety of games, from Any Number to Vend-O-Price and everything in between. “We have 79 games for a reason,” Warfel explained, referring to the options kept in a warehouse when they’re not in use on set. “When you tune into the show, it feels different every time.”

    Pocket Change

Despite the variety of games and the upcoming changes, The Price Is Right is still sticking to the format that that has been entertaining audiences since 1972. “For me, the importance of the show is holding on to the nostalgia,” Warfel said. “The reason people continue to tune in year after year is because they remember how it made them feel, the place they were in their life when they watched — like with one of their grandparents or being home sick from school. We do our best with every change we make to still remind people.”

“Honored to make the ToC, thanks for all the support from Jeopardy fans as well as the Survivor community,” he tweeted.

“They’re not kidding when they say it’s a family. And special shoutout to @anthonyd46 for all the content, screengrabs, etc,” he added.

    DREW NOT DISTURB

Even before the announcement, Jeopardy! viewers had already shared their thoughts on Basile, and they weren’t pretty.

“Drew doesn’t know what being a humble winner is. Instead he’s an obnoxious winner,” commented one Instagram user.

“Someone please break his streak… Please. I was really hoping he wouldn’t make it to the ToC,” commented another user.

“Can anyone see through the fake humility of him? Waiting for a new winner,” wrote another user.

Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings leaves Drew Basile speechless with Survivor news before alum’s ‘over-excited’ 5th win-
“If obnoxious bragging winning was a person,” tweeted one user.

“I could do without his “bro” posturing, but maybe he’ll outgrow it by winter,” added another user.

Some Jeopardy! fans even vowed to boycott the show until a new champion takes Drew’s place.

“I’m a regular viewer, but I’m done until Drew is gone,” one user tweeted.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Drew Basile managed to beat then-reigning-champ Adriana Harmeyer, who won a total of $351,600 during her 15-game winning streak

“He’s arrogant and full of himself. So unpleasant. Hopefully his run will be short and his defeat will be glorious.”

Still, Basile has managed to turn a few viewers into die-hard supporters, or at the very least, lukewarm believers.

    DREW CREW

“Go Drew. Hated you in Survivor but I like you in Jeopardy!” wrote one X user.

“Shocking to see a Twitter post about drew and not seeing all the comments hating on him,” tweeted one user.

Drew has acknowledged the haters on his social media, saying it was time to "prove them right," regarding those who called him a "know-it-all"

“Our Survivor legend and Jeopardy kingggg,” commented one user, alongside a crown emoji.

“I think he’s just very competitive and can’t hold it in,” wrote another user.

“How else could you survive Survivor for that long?”

“Listening to his interview about all sorts of students skipping 7th period to watch Jeopardy with him, the Class Officer, he seems well liked and respected by those who know him,” they added.

“Think about that before you lay into such a great player.”

Drew Basile has drawn some criticism from Jeopardy! viewers for fist-pumping, clapping, and outwardly celebrating his wins, big and small, on the show

“Drew is one of my personal top 5 favorite Jeopardy! contestants!” exclaimed another user.

Even Survivor got in on the action, commenting three clapping hands emojis from their official Instagram, @survivorcbs.

    BASILE THE DEAL

Any Jeopardy! contestant who wins at least five games in the show’s current season are eligible to compete in the Tournament of Champions.

Basile, who was featured on Survivor’s 45th season, has won six consecutive games as of Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

“It’s not my first rodeo, Ken,” Basile told host Ken Jennings during his first Jeopardy! interview.

“I had the privilege of being on Survivor recently,” he continued.

“So I lasted out there for 23 days of 26 with no clothes, no shelter, no food.”

“[It] affected the noggin a little bit, but I’m hoping to, you know, be back on the horse for Jeopardy.”

“Survivor’s pretty hard on the body, but Jeopardy’s tough on the mind,” he added.

Drew Basile has now won over $100,000 during his six-game winning streak, and secured his place in the show's spin-off, Tournament of Champions

Tournament of Champions typically airs after the show’s regular season has wrapped.

The game show’s 40th season set to finish on July 26, 2024, though fans shouldn’t expect TOC to air immediately in August.

The majority of the show’s past tournaments have aired in November, with the last TOC running from February 23 to March 19, 2024.

The Survivor alum is faring slightly better on the trivia game show than he did on the survival competition show, though time will tell if he can beat his 23-day streak on the island.

    Jeopardy! Universe

Jeopardy! first aired in 1964 until 1975. Then the nighttime version began in 1974. Since then, many spinoffs of the game show have emerged. Here they all are:

Jeopardy! – (syndicated) 1974 to present, weekdays on ABC at 7 pm ET.

Tournament of Champions – 1984 to present, features the top champions who have appeared on the show since the last tournament.

Second Chance Tournament – 2022 to present features hand-selected non-winners from the season prior, where the prize is entry into Champions Wildcard.

Champions Wildcard – 2023 to present, features all one, two and three-day champions from the season prior worth entry into the Tournament of Champions.

Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament (syndication) – 2023 to present, features past greats invited by producers to vie for a slot in Masters.

Jeopardy! Masters (primetime) – 2023 to present, features the six highest-ranked Jeopardy! champions competing against each other.

Celebrity Jeopardy! (primetime) – 1992 to present, has celebrities compete against each other to raise money for charity.

Pop Culture Jeopardy (streaming) – 2024 to present, will feature teams of three tasked with pop culture trivia on Amazon Prime, host and airdate TBD

Jeopardy! has done away with specialized tournaments like its College Tournaments, Kids Week, and Professor’s Tournament to gear towards a more sports-like model, with Masters being the top of the Jeopardy pyramid.

Other versions of Jeopardy! have fizzled out throughout the years as well, like Sports Jeopardy!.
