‘The Voice’: Reba McEntire passes the torch to new judge Kelsea Ballerini with sweet letter

Kelsea Ballerini has a new souvenir from Reba McEntire to add to her “Baggage.”

The “Patterns” singer has been named the newest coach of “The Voice” and McEntire left her a sweet message as they trade places as the signature country star on the NBC reality competition’s judging panel, according to People magazine.

“Dear Kelsea, I heard you would be the new coach this season and I’m just so excited for you. It’s up to you to keep country alive on the show and I know you’ll do a terrific job,” the letter from McEntire said.

“Now go out there and show those boys who’s the boss,” the note continued, referring to Ballerini’s fellow judges John Legend, Adam Levine and Michael Bublé.

McEntire also left Ballerini a “little good luck charm in case you need it,” a crown that belonged to “Queen Reba” from previous seasons.

On Instagram Monday, Ballerini shared her excitement over joining the judges’ panel on “The Voice.”

“joining @nbcthevoice as the new coach tonight. i’ve gained three brothers, been continually inspired by the talent this season, and enjoyed every second of this journey so far. tune in at 8/7c TO WATCH ME HIT THE RED BUTTON FOR MY FAV ARTISTS!!!!” the country singer captioned the post.

The show’s 27th season features the return of OG coach Adam Levine. The Maroon 5 frontman left the show in 2019 after a 16-season run and three wins.

Ballerini has had a big year with the success of “Patterns,” released last October, and the awards circuit.

Most recently, Ballerini attended the 67th Grammy Awards with boyfriend Chase Stokes and “Cowboy Cry Too” collaborator Noah Kahan. The country music superstar wore a textured Tamara Ralph minidress paired with a satiny, billowing jacket.

Reality TV has a way of tugging at heartstrings, and Season 27 of The Voice premiere delivered an emotional punch that left coaches—and viewers—reaching for tissues. John Legend exclaimed, capturing a moment that perfectly encapsulates the show’s ability to weave personal stories into musical magic:

“Bryan made me cry last season; now I’m watching him cry and I’m crying again,”

A star-studded coaching panel returned to The Voice , a singing competition that has been turning undiscovered talent into future superstars since 2011. In a season that promised both nostalgia and fresh starts, Adam Levine returned to the band after a four-year break, joining John Legend.

Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini joined them, forming a teaching team that would make the dreams of every young singer come true.

But this season’s premiere was about more than just vocal talents. It was a story of family, legacy, and musical passion that would make even the toughest coach shed a little tear, as seen with John Legend.

Enter Bryan Olesen and his daughter Jadyn Cree—a father-daughter duo that became the heart of the episode. Bryan, a third-place finalist from Season 25, watched from the sidelines as Jadyn took the stage for her blind audition on February 3, 2025.

“It’s pretty great,” Bryan said simply, embodying a father’s quiet pride. Jadyn, drawing from her musical background as the lead singer of an ’80s cover band called AMFM, stepped into the spotlight with a Paramore song “Still Into You.”

Before her performance, Jadyn wasn’t shy about her family’s connection to the show. She shared, setting the stage for what would become a memorable moment:

“My father got third place on Season 25 with Team Legend,”

As she sang, coaches turned their heads. John Legend, in a moment of recognition, commented, “She looks very familiar to me.” The connection was instant—Jadyn had previously performed with her father during his hometown celebration in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The coaches, all parents themselves (except Kelsea Ballerini, who playfully referenced her dog), were moved by the family dynamic. Michael Bublé addressed Bryan directly:

“I imagine, Bryan, this is probably the greatest moment of your life so far.”

When it came time to choose, Jadyn consulted her father. Bryan’s response was simple and supportive:

“I trust what you wanna do.”

In a twist, she ultimately selected Team Bublé.

For those wondering about Bryan’s previous run, his Season 25 journey was nothing short of remarkable. His blind audition of “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic earned turns from John Legend, Dan + Shay, and Reba McEntire. Even Chance the Rapper later admitted he regretted not turning his chair.

Bryan’s season included memorable performances like “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, an Instant Save that propelled him to the finale, where he finished third behind winner Asher Havon.

What makes The Voice special isn’t just the singing. It’s moments like these—where family, support, and musical passion intersect. Bryan and Jadyn Olesen demonstrated that talent might run in the family, but support is the real showstopper.

As John Legend wiped away another tear, it was clear: Season 27 of The Voice is going to be anything but ordinary.

It’s only one episode since Adam Levine returned to The Voice, and it looks like he’s already doing things differently than before!

Season 27 of the NBC series premiered on February 3, and viewers were quickly introduced to singer Grace-Miller Moody. She decided to sing a soulful rendition of Adam’s band Maroon 5’s hit song “Sunday Morning,” which left everyone completely stunned by her talent. As coaches Michael Bublé, John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini all turned their chairs for Grace-Miller, Adam shocked everyone by hitting the red button as well. What’s more, the move had everyone riled up for a surprising reason.

“Adam notoriously does not turn for his own song!” Kelsea exclaimed in a clip posted on YouTube. “So, you have broken the code!”

Kelsea wasn’t the only one shocked by Adam’s surprise move. John also had some thoughts on the entire situation, trying to convince Grace-Miller she needed a coach who’d been on The Voice in recent seasons.

“Obviously, all of us feel like we’re at a disadvantage,” John added, with the audience cracking up. “It’s been a long since Adam has been on The Voice, and he’s quite likely very, very rusty. You’ll need someone that’s got more recent experience and you understand how it’s been on the show for the last 10 seasons and not how it was way back in the ancient era.”

Here's the Real Reason Adam Levine Left 'The Voice'

Given the entire audition caused a stir, fans couldn’t stop commenting how good Grace-Miller’s vocals sounded.

“What a way to start off Adam’s comeback season,” one person wrote in the YouTube comments. “Very unique … I love her,” another agreed. “Love the voice and the arrangement,” a different follower added.

So, did Kelsea and John’s comments on Adam’s unexpected chair turn pan out for them? It seemed like Adam made the right call, as Grace-Miller chose him to be her mentor throughout the competition.

Well, it looks like Adam’s rise to victory is only just beginning!

Harvey Has Been Open About His Weight Loss Struggles

Back in 2007, Steve Harvey realized that he had to do something different and change course. At that time, he didn’t like what he saw when he looked back in the mirror.

Harvey told Men’s Fitness Magazine: “My arms were just sitting there — just a piece of meat hanging there, with no curves in them, no definition. And I just got tired of looking at myself that way.”

At that time, Steve Harvey was already 50. So, that realization didn’t fully hit home with him until later in life. However, he has more than made up for that in the years since. These days, he is looking better than ever.

Recently, Steve Harvey shared what works for him in terms of what gets him motivated to keep up with his healthy habits. For Harvey, it’s as much about his mindset as it is about the physical activities he does to stay in shape, including his healthy lifestyle changes.

Steve Harvey recently said: “I don’t call it dieting, I decide ‘Okay, I’m [going to] eat clean for 14 days. Eating clean is okay, man. If you’re eating good vegetables that’s seasoned right, if you’re eating fish that’s seasoned right, you know, that’s eating clean.”

According to Harvey, he takes a similar approach when it comes time to get physical as well. Instead of calling it “working out,” Steve refers to his exercise routine as “getting right.”

Your mindset in life is often just as important as doing the repetitions and checking the boxes, and Steve Harvey has clearly found what works for him, and the results certainly speak for themselves.

Drew Carey was put in his place.

Lillian Brown was on a roll during the July 2 episode of “The Price Is Right.”

The third-year Ph.D. student breezed through the games, racking up money as she played.

“I was thrown out of college twice. What’s the opposite of a PhD?,” Carey asked. “A talk show host,” Lillian quipped back.
“I was thrown out of college twice. What’s the opposite of a Ph.D.?” Carey asked Lillian Brown. “A talk show host,” she quipped back. The Price Is Right / CBS
Host Carey, 66, teased her about it, suggesting that the secret to her success was her Ph.D.

“We might as well not even keep going but . . . OK, OK. You have a Ph.D.,” he said to her.

“I was thrown out of college twice. What’s the opposite of a Ph.D.?” Carey continued.

“A talk show host,” Brown responded.

“You know what? I’m not smart enough to be a talk show host,” Carey said, unable to recover.

Brown and the audience all laughed.

In the same episode, Carey cost a contestant a shot at the Showcase.

The host was trying to help when contestant Roni Gardner, from San Diego, California, struggled to spin the Big Wheel.

“You know what? I’m not smart enough to be a talk show host,” Carey responded, unable to recover.

Contestants spin the Big Wheel in an attempt to get close to 100 without going over. Everyone has two chances to spin and get their overall total the closest to 100 to move on.

For a spin to count, the wheel must achieve at least one full rotation. Gardner had trouble with this rule during the game.

After her first spin, the wheel landed on 90, which put her in position to win the game.

However, Carey pointed out that the wheel didn’t go all the way around, so the contestant had to redo her spin.

On her next try, the wheel barely turned past halfway, leading Carey to step in.

“Can I help you out?” he asked her.

    “Yes, please,” Gardner replied.

Carey then helped the contestant make her next spin, which landed on 15, meaning she was allowed a second spin to reach the goal.

Once again, Carey helped, but the wheel landed on 95, taking Gardner’s score over 100. Her chances of moving on to the Showcase were over.

“I’ll take the blame for that. Roni, I’m so sorry,” Carey apologized as she exited the stage.

Contestant Erika O’Farrell then moved on, but Gardner didn’t have the chance.

Carey had another funny interaction on the June 28 episode when contestant David, a barber, nailed a bid on a sewing-and-craft collection, and bantered with the host about facial hair.

Carey welcomed the contestant onstage after he guessed the collection’s worth of $950, the closest of the four contestants’ guesses to its $1,415 price tag.

“What’s up, man? Nice to see you! Welcome to the show,” the host greeted David with a handshake, to which David replied with equal enthusiasm.

“You too, man. Thank you so much,” David said.

“I was wondering when you’re going to grow your beard back,” the contestant joked to Carey.

“Oh I don’t know, I just got tired of it,” the comedian, who has rocked longer facial hair in recent years, responded.

David then gestured to Carey’s soul patch, and quipped: “This is looking good.”

Carey returned the compliment, adding: “Your beard looks great, man.”

“I was wondering when you’re going to grow your beard back,” the contestant joked to Carey.
Carey is on his 18th season of the long-running game show. The Price Is Right / CBS
Carey’s interactions with contestants have been a hallmark since he took over as host of the show after Bob Barker retired in 2007. Barker hosted the show from 1972 to 2007 and died in 2023 at the age of 99.

Carey is on his 18th season of the long-running game show. He’s also previously led “The Drew Carey Show” from 1994 to 2004, and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” from 1998 to 2007.

His ultimate career goal is to outlast “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak — who retired in June from that ABC game show. Sajak, 77, earned his place in history as the longest serving game show host of the same show for his 41-season reign.

“I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die. This is my 18th season. I’ve got to get the 35 and 41, so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak,” Carey told TV Insider.

  • The b0mb$hell secret behind the feud of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Ryan Seacrest and ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Ken Jennings

The b0mb$hell secret behind the feud of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Ryan Seacrest and ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Ken Jennings

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Ryan Seacrest vs. ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Ken Jennings

Jeopardy!'s Ken Jennings next to Wheel of Fortune's Ryan Seacrest with a lightning divider between them

Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, two of the most famous TV game shows of all time, have entered a new era in 2024, with brand-new hosts taking over. Historically, both shows have been an important part of American pop culture. But the role of the host can really make or break shows like these. Starting from 1984, Jeopardy! was hosted by Alex Trebek for 37 seasons, whose name became synonymous with the general knowledge quiz show. Similarly, Pat Sajak was the force behind Wheel of Fortune for 41 years. However, the latest seasons of both shows in 2024 have seen Ken Jennings replacing the late Trebek and Ryan Seacrest succeeding Sajak.

Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are sister shows, with both being produced and conceptualized by Merv Griffin. While Jeopardy! follows the format of a quiz show, Wheel of Fortune is all about strategy and luck. However, there has always been a bit of rivalry between the two, with fans arguing over which one is better. But with Jennings and Seacrest coming on board, the conversation has slightly shifted. Now, the viewers are left to wonder which host is the better replacement and can stay true to the tone and style of their respective show.

Ryan Seacrest’s Journey As ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Has Been Bumpy

Ryan Seacrest joined Wheel of Fortune after Pat Sajak announced his retirement in June 2023. Now, Seacrest has been a prominent name in television for a long time, and he has just what it takes to connect with the audience. Seacrest has hosted American Idol for 20 seasons since 2002, so he’s not a new face for audiences. From red carpets to award shows, Seacrest has made quite the name for himself in Hollywood as an Emmy-winning host and longtime radio personality. And he brings all those years of experience to Wheel of Fortune.

The best part about Seacrest’s hosting is that he’s not trying to copy Sajak or replicate what he did. He has come in with his own style of hosting, which has helped him get into the groove of things. During the season premiere for Wheel of Fortune Season 42, Seacrest took a moment to thank the audience for supporting him and acknowledged that he has extremely big shoes to fill. 8,310,000 viewers tuned into Wheel of Fortune for its premiere week with Seacrest, which is a good sign that the new host is setting himself up for success.

However, fans were quick to notice that Seacrest isn’t nearly as thorough as Sajak was, despite his claims of having taken months to prepare for his new role. During the premiere episode, Seacrest missed when a contestant mispronounced a word and granted him a win. And while you can chalk that up to first-day jitters, he made a similar mistake in Wheel of Fortune Season 42, Episode 2, when he failed to explain the rules to a contestant. The poor woman ended up losing her $1 million wedge on the wheel because Seacrest forgot to remind her of an important rule. If you draw a comparison to Pat Sajak, the former host of the show would never forget to give the contestants reminders such as these in such a high-pressure situation. If these rookie mistakes continue, Seacrest’s career as the host of Wheel of Fortune might not have the longevity of Sajak’s.

Ken Jennings Knows ‘Jeopardy!’ Inside Out — but Is That Enough?

    Ken Jennings on 'Jeopardy!'

Ken Jennings might not have the extensive TV experience that Seacrest brings to the table, but he knows pretty much everything there is to know about Jeopardy!. And that’s because he started out as a contestant on the show. Back in 2004, he became the show’s most successful contestant of all time after winning 74 games in a row. He then made several appearances in special episodes, tournaments, and competitions over the years, including the Jeopardy! Ultimate Tournament of ChampionsJeopardy! Battle of the Decades and Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time. His long-time connection to the show made him an obvious choice to replace Trebek. Fans already know and love him, and everyone who takes part in the show aspires to be as successful as him. But Jennings’s journey to becoming the show’s full-time host wasn’t all that easy.

After Trebek’s passing, Ken Jennings and The Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik joined Wheel of Fortune as co-hosts in 2021. However, in 2023, the decision was made to move forward with Jennings as the solo host, possibly because of online controversy Bialik was embroiled in relating to some of her views on health and medicine. All things considered, it made sense for the producers to retain Jennings, considering he has been a fan-favorite since 2004. However, he also found himself mired in controversy when a few of his old and extremely insensitive tweets resurfaced.

Jennings refused to delete his tweet making fun of disabled individuals, which led to an uproar from the fans who no longer wanted them to host their favorite show. Following the backlash, Jennings issued an apology for his past mistakes, mentioning he didn’t delete the posts as he believed it to be a form of “whitewashing.” However, he needs to show the audience that he is the right man for the job, and make sure he doesn’t make the same mistakes again. For the viewers, the host of their favorite game show is someone they genuinely want to like and look up to because of their kindness, wit, and intelligence.

Who Is Going To Be the Better Host in the Long Run?

Ken Jennings smiling in front of the Jeopardy logo

Both Jennings and Seacrest have seen rough starts as hosts of their respective shows. But, in terms of the ratings, Seacrest seems to have made up for his early oversights. Wheel of Fortune has experienced a huge boost in ratings. Despite Seacrest’s blunders, it became the most-watched entertainment show across broadcast, cable, and syndication for September 2024 after pulling in an impressive 7.99 million viewers. It’s fair to say that some of the credit goes to Seacrest. However, this boost in ratings for Wheel of Fortune might also have been because of the audience’s initial curiosity about the change in hosts.

On the other hand, Jennings hasn’t quite gotten the hang of things, because even though he’s had the hosting gig longer, Jeopardy! came in at the No. 3 spot with 7.35 million viewers. Not to mention that Jennings’s contract with the show isn’t permanent yet, compared to Seacrest, who is in it for the long haul. Sony is still evaluating how Jennings performs as a host before offering him a long-term contract similar to Alex Trebek’s. But Jennings is committed to Jeopardy! to the point where he is willing to take a pay cut if he has to, to stay on board as the show’s permanent host.

Ultimately, you can’t deny that both Jennings and Seacrest bring their own flair to hosting, and are loved by the fans for different reasons. While both of them are familiar faces for the audience, Seacrest already knows exactly what makes the audience tick. Jennings might need some more time to find his rhythm, but he has a loyal-enough fanbase that keeps coming back for more. So, the competition is still very much on, and it will be interesting to see who emerges as the winner.

Jeopardy! airs every weeknight on ABC in the U.S. Episodes are also available to stream on ABC.com. Wheel of Fortune is available on broadcast TV and streaming on YouTube TV in the U.S.

Ryan Seacrest has officially banked two full months at Wheel of Fortune, stepping into the big shoes of Pat Sajak alongside Vanna White since making his debut September 9. Now that his hosting era is in full swing, fans felt ready to share how they really think he’s doing as the host.

On Monday (November 11), a fan took to the WoF Reddit forum to ask that very question. “Thoughts on the new Wheel of Fortune with Ryan Seacrest?” the fan titled the post. “For me personally, it’s decent and watchable enough. But I’m not really a big fan of the new designs and graphics in the show,” they added.

One of the top commenters pointed out that Seacrest’s contestant interviews, for which he doesn’t use cue cards like his puzzle-presenting predecessor, make the show seem less “stale.” They said the interviews are more in the style of Jeopardy!, where his peer Ken Jennings similarly takes one tidbit and volleys with the contestants off the cuff.

“I personally love the new set and I’m enjoying his banter with the contestants which was previously stale compared to Jeopardy!. Getting Vanna more involved is pretty cool too,” they wrote.

The consensus from other fans in the replies shared they are getting used to Seacrest (and the new set), even if the “new school” version of WoF is a big change.

“He’s a capable host so he’s doing fine. But of course it isn’t the same. People like Pat, or Alex on Jeopardy, or even Barker on TPIR have that old school charm, wit, and charisma that newer generation hosts don’t have. The old guard have a natural ease about them,” a third wrote. “Someone commented earlier they felt Ryan was fake. I don’t think he’s fake, but he’s media trained to follow things by the book. That’s why it comes off as fake.”

“Doing good so far,” a fourth simply wrote.

“Agreed. Perfectly serviceable from the start and will only find his style as he gets more games under him,” wrote a fifth.

“Ryan can host paint drying and it would be entertaining,” wrote a sixth. “That’s just Ryan. But honestly, it feels like a whole different show. It’s hard to explain. It’s the same format just with another host. But it doesn’t feel like ‘Wheel of Fortune’.”

A seventh wasn’t so won over, “I do not like Seacrest. Granted, I’ve watched less than 10 episodes of his version, but he’s constantly forgetting the minor rules and genuinely does not seem to be comfortable hosting a game show. Not helping is that I LOATHE the set re-design. They even brought back the border for the puzzle board and still made me dislike it.”

“I’m enjoying it. Im not a fan of the new split screen though,” wrote an eighth.

“The hosting transition was magnitudes better than Jeopardy!” one more surmised, referring to the infamous four-year host hunt to replace Alex Trebek, scoring 36 upvotes in the forum.

Meanwhile, there’s no question Seacrest’s replacing Sajak after four decades has brought renewed interest. His debut month was the strongest ratings month for WoF in the past three years. That said, there have been some questionable on-air moments.

In September, Seacrest suffered what fans dubbed his “first blooper”, involving a delayed reaction to rewarding a bonus round. Fans also called out the host for ruling against another player before the timer was up. There have been a few on-screen “glitches,” and some let-down trip destinations (Salem, Massachusetts?). Seacrest has also been called out for being more lenient on pronunciation rulings than Sajak was in recent weeks, last week allowing a blatantly botched take on a Texas town.

Vanna White reacts to ‘Wheel of Fortune’ salary dispute rumors: I won’t do ‘anything I don’t want to do’

Vanna White claims the rumors about her “Wheel of Fortune” salary dispute were “blown out of proportion.”

White, 66, reportedly wanted a bump in cash once she signed on to stay as the game show’s iconic letter-turner alongside new host Ryan Seacrest.

“It was because people just have rumors,” she told People recently. “Everything is so blown out of proportion, not just with my stuff, with everybody’s stuff.”

The television personality said she’s “a strong person” and won’t be doing “anything I don’t want to do or that I don’t believe in.”

“My mother taught me that at a young age, and I’m sticking to my guns,” she said.

The details of her new contract have not been made public.

White made headlines earlier this year when longtime emcee Pat Sajak announced that he would be leaving the trivia show.

Many fans urged the series to promote White as the new host and there were reports of contract negotiations behind the scenes.

She’s since signed on for two more years through the 2026 season. According to TMZ, White got a “substantial pay increase” with her deal.

Seacrest’s addition was announced in June and Sajak is set to finish out this season as host.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” Sajak, 76, penned on social media earlier this summer. He will officially depart next year once the season is complete.

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)” he wrote.

Sajak has hosted “Wheel” since 1981, while White joined the show the following year.

As for the former “American Idol” host, 48, he’s excited to work with the South Carolina native.

“This is such great news,” Seacrest said of White’s renewal to Willie Geist on a “Sunday Today” episode, which aired last month.

“Vanna has been such a staple on that show and in our living rooms for so many years. I have been very excited to work with her, but now that it’s official I can say, ‘Congratulations Vanna! I can’t wait.’”

“She’s beloved by this country and by the viewers and I can’t even imagine standing next to her on that set being able to say, ‘Okay, let’s get to it.’ It’s great news,” he continued. “I’m very, very happy to hear it and very happy I’ll be able to work with her.”

[VERY SAD] Kelly Ripa takes dig at Ryan Seacrest, their relationship is cracks

After allegations, Kelly Ripa takes dig at Ryan Seacrest

Kelly Ripa made an embarrassing dig at her co-host on “Live” Wednesday, asking Ryan Seacrest, “What is going on? Something pretty major is happening … Do you want me to put your shoes back on for you? I’m a mom, I can do that.”

Seacrest, 43, stammered in reply, “You don’t mind, do you?” He then proceeded to stomp his own shoes on himself.

The comments were made immediately following a discussion about a “treadmill day” for the show.

Ripa’s rip may also have referenced stylist Suzie Hardy’s allegation that Seacrest pushed her head toward his crotch when she was tying his shoes — an accusation that was corroborated Wednesday morning by an anonymous source who previously worked with the “American Idol” host.

Seacrest has vehemently denied Hardy’s allegations (which also included several alleged “bearhugs” in his underwear), and he was previously cleared in an E! investigation.

An NBC source told Page Six, “At the moment E! is still saying Seacrest is hosting on the red carpet at the Oscars.

But many execs at NBC Universal [which owns E!] can’t see how that can happen, especially after Page Six’s piece today about the publicists planning to steer their talent away from Seacrest on the red carpet.

There will be meetings about it today, and a decision could be made by the end of the day about what to do at the Oscars. It doesn’t look good for Seacrest, even though he denies it and was cleared by an internal investigation.”

The source added of Ripa, “It’s astonishing and jarring that Kelly would make a dig like that at Ryan. It shows there are some serious cracks in their relationship.”

Seacrest recently told Page Six in a statement that “this person who has accused me of horrible things has offered on multiple occasions to withdraw her claims if I paid her millions of dollars. I refused … I have worked extremely hard to achieve my success and I don’t take my opportunities for granted. I don’t want to accuse anyone of not telling the truth, but in this case, I have no choice but to again deny the claims against me, remind people that I was recused of any wrongdoing, and put the matter to rest.”
