‘The Price Is Right’ Changes: EP Teases Redemption & New Theme Episode
Sonja Flemming/CBS
Much like its Shell Game, The Price Is Right is mixing things up. Producers of the long-running CBS game show are preparing a new themed installment and even a redemption episode.
In the past, The Price Is Right has themed episodes around holidays like Christmas, Halloween, and April Fool’s Day, as well as events like the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards, and NCAA March Madness. And viewers can expect at least one new theme in upcoming episodes.
“We switch it up,” executive producer Evelyn Warfel told TV Insider during our recent set visit. “This year we’re doing Galentine’s [Day].”
Sonja Flemming/CBS
The Price Is Right is also gearing up for a “redemption” episode, Warfel teased. What exactly does that mean? Are past contestants getting another shot at the Showcase Showdown? Details are scarce — Warfel only said it’s a concept “never done before” in the show’s 51-year history.
Producers are also keeping The Price Is Right exciting with its wide variety of games, from Any Number to Vend-O-Price and everything in between. “We have 79 games for a reason,” Warfel explained, referring to the options kept in a warehouse when they’re not in use on set. “When you tune into the show, it feels different every time.”
Despite the variety of games and the upcoming changes, The Price Is Right is still sticking to the format that that has been entertaining audiences since 1972. “For me, the importance of the show is holding on to the nostalgia,” Warfel said. “The reason people continue to tune in year after year is because they remember how it made them feel, the place they were in their life when they watched — like with one of their grandparents or being home sick from school. We do our best with every change we make to still remind people.”
Jeopardy! fans threaten to boycott show after ‘sore winner’ Drew Basile receives honor for winning streak
Basile’s strategic gameplay is reminiscent of his time on Survivor
MOST Jeopardy! viewers tune in to the show to test their general knowledge, but some have also started to turn on the show’s current ongoing champ.
Survivor 45 alum Drew Basile may have racked up over $100,000 in winnings from his days-long Jeopardy! streak, but he’s also garnered a handful of online haters along the way.

On Wednesday, June 27, 2024, the official Jeopardy! Instagram account formerly announced Basile was the newest addition to the game show’s Tournament of Champions.
“Watch out, there’s a new ToCer on the block and it’s @SurvivorCBS alum Drew Basile! #Jeopardy!” the show captioned the post.
Jeopardy! also announced the news simultaneously on X.

Basile had already tweeted a message thanking his fans and viewers for their support on his journey to the Tournament of Champions.
“Honored to make the ToC, thanks for all the support from Jeopardy fans as well as the Survivor community,” he tweeted.
“They’re not kidding when they say it’s a family. And special shoutout to @anthonyd46 for all the content, screengrabs, etc,” he added.

DREW NOT DISTURB
Even before the announcement, Jeopardy! viewers had already shared their thoughts on Basile, and they weren’t pretty.
“Drew doesn’t know what being a humble winner is. Instead he’s an obnoxious winner,” commented one Instagram user.
“Someone please break his streak… Please. I was really hoping he wouldn’t make it to the ToC,” commented another user.
“Can anyone see through the fake humility of him? Waiting for a new winner,” wrote another user. Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings leaves Drew Basile speechless with Survivor news before alum’s ‘over-excited’ 5th win-
“If obnoxious bragging winning was a person,” tweeted one user.
“I could do without his “bro” posturing, but maybe he’ll outgrow it by winter,” added another user.
Some Jeopardy! fans even vowed to boycott the show until a new champion takes Drew’s place.
“I’m a regular viewer, but I’m done until Drew is gone,” one user tweeted.

“He’s arrogant and full of himself. So unpleasant. Hopefully his run will be short and his defeat will be glorious.”
Still, Basile has managed to turn a few viewers into die-hard supporters, or at the very least, lukewarm believers.
DREW CREW
“Go Drew. Hated you in Survivor but I like you in Jeopardy!” wrote one X user.
“Shocking to see a Twitter post about drew and not seeing all the comments hating on him,” tweeted one user.

“Our Survivor legend and Jeopardy kingggg,” commented one user, alongside a crown emoji.
“I think he’s just very competitive and can’t hold it in,” wrote another user.
“How else could you survive Survivor for that long?”
“Listening to his interview about all sorts of students skipping 7th period to watch Jeopardy with him, the Class Officer, he seems well liked and respected by those who know him,” they added.
“Think about that before you lay into such a great player.”

“Drew is one of my personal top 5 favorite Jeopardy! contestants!” exclaimed another user.
Even Survivor got in on the action, commenting three clapping hands emojis from their official Instagram, @survivorcbs.
BASILE THE DEAL
Any Jeopardy! contestant who wins at least five games in the show’s current season are eligible to compete in the Tournament of Champions.
Basile, who was featured on Survivor’s 45th season, has won six consecutive games as of Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

“It’s not my first rodeo, Ken,” Basile told host Ken Jennings during his first Jeopardy! interview.
“I had the privilege of being on Survivor recently,” he continued.
“So I lasted out there for 23 days of 26 with no clothes, no shelter, no food.”
“[It] affected the noggin a little bit, but I’m hoping to, you know, be back on the horse for Jeopardy.”
“Survivor’s pretty hard on the body, but Jeopardy’s tough on the mind,” he added.

Drew Basile has now won over $100,000 during his six-game winning streak, and secured his place in the show’s spin-off, Tournament of ChampionsCredit: Jeopardy!
Tournament of Champions typically airs after the show’s regular season has wrapped.
The game show’s 40th season set to finish on July 26, 2024, though fans shouldn’t expect TOC to air immediately in August.
The majority of the show’s past tournaments have aired in November, with the last TOC running from February 23 to March 19, 2024.
The Survivor alum is faring slightly better on the trivia game show than he did on the survival competition show, though time will tell if he can beat his 23-day streak on the island.
The Price is Right host Drew Carey insults contestant after commenting on his grammatically incorrect Plinko game shirt
The show’s announcer even got in on the jab as well
DREW Carey laid into a Price is Right contestant on Thursday’s episode, leading to a pile-on of jokes at the player’s expense.
The game show host commented on a player’s grammatically incorrect shirt.

On the June 27 episode, a contestant wore a black shirt with white letters that said “Not no one not like no Plinko.”
Plinko is a game on The Price is Right, where contestants have to put a chip into a slot and drop it to see if it lands on the grand prize in the middle.
“I like your shirt,” the host told the contestant.
After Drew pointed out Karl’s shirt and told him he wasn’t going to play Plinko, he asked him where he was from.
“Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!” the man shouted.
Drew, 66, smiled, turned to the camera, and chuckled, said, “I was gonna say….”
The host laughed and then turned towards the announcer to tell the player what he could win.
“Not no one not like… a brand new SUV!” George said. The Price is Right contestant suffers wardrobe malfunction on air as host Drew Carey says ‘we’ll get you another one!’
This isn’t the first time this week that a contestant’s wardrobe was pointed out by Drew.
On Wednesday’s show, a woman named Zaniya ran up to the stage after correctly bidding at her podium.
In the process, her name tag fell off her shirt as she jumped up and down.
One of the players still standing behind the podium picked up the name tag and handed it to Zaniya.
When she stood next to Drew, she held it up proudly.
“I won’t forget your name. We’ll get you another name tag later for a souvenir,” Drew told her.
‘TIL I DIE’
Despite Drew flinging insults and being a witness to wardrobe malfunctions, the host isn’t going anywhere.
In an interview with TV Insider, the host talked about being the longest-running game show host, now that Pat Sajak retired from Wheel of Fortune.
He told the outlet about his future on The Price is Right, which he has hosted since 2007.
“I just show up and punch the clock and hope I have a job every day,” Drew said.
“I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die. This is my 18th season. I’ve got to get the 35 and 41 so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak.”
Bob Barker was the host of The Price Is Right from September 4, 1972, until June 15, 2007.
“It’s such just a great part of my day, my year, my life. I can’t imagine giving it up,” Drew went on.
“I can quit anytime I want!”

Vanna White Makes Surprising Revelation About Her Time On ‘Wheel Of Fortune’
Vanna White said recently that she pondered retirement when “Wheel of Fortune” co-star Pat Sajak announced he was leaving the game show last year.
After more than four decades as host, Sajak’s final episode with his letter-revealing colleague is scheduled to air June 7. He’s set to be replaced by Ryan Seacrest.
Regarding a two-year extension that White signed following contentious contract talks for the show, TV Insider asked her, “How long do you see yourself sticking around?”
“I don’t know,” White replied in an interview published Saturday. “When I heard that Pat was retiring, I thought maybe I should retire too. But I’m not ready! We’ll see toward the end of those two years how I feel. I thank God after all these years that I still love my job.”
White had reportedly threatened to quit if she didn’t receive a hefty raise that was closer to Sajak’s salary, signing a deal in 2023 to keep her on the job at least through the 2025-2026 season. That would cover two full seasons with Seacrest.
White, who has been at Sajak’s side since 1982 and hosted the show temporarily when he had surgery in 2019, has surprised even herself over her longevity on the game show.
“I never would have thought that this would turn into a 40-plus-year job,” she said to TV Insider. “I’m happy that I am myself [on the show]. I don’t play a character. I am who I am. It’s a fun show that everybody of all ages enjoys. We give money away!”

‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Truth About Vanna White & Ryan Seacrest Feud
After Ryan Seacrest took over the hosting position for Wheel Of Fortune, there were whispers of things not working well between him and Vanna White. But now the truth about Vanna and Ryan’s feud is revealed as they prepare for the new season.
Vanna White And Ryan Seacrest Have Trouble In Paradise?
Although some long-time fans are concerned Ryan Seacrest isn’t the man for the job when it comes to stepping into Pat Sajak’s shoes, others are open to see how it goes. Directly after Ryan began filming, news came out that there was already trouble in paradise with Vanna White. Seemingly, she was regretting not retiring at the same time as Pat because there were difficulties with the new host behind the scenes. Likewise, there has been discussion of Kim Kardashian being at the top of the list of replacements for Vanna. Vanna White and Ryan Seacrest – YouTube
Truth About Vanna White & Ryan Seacrest Feud
Even with the rumors of the new host struggling to mesh with Vanna White, now Ryan Seacrest wants to put the speculation to bed. On Ryan’s Instagram page, he is sitting next to Vanna White on a couch. In front of the two cohosts is a black mystery box with “RSTLNE” on the lid, the default letters given to contestants when solving a bonus round puzzle. As they open the box, they unveil the miniature Wheel Of Fortune game. In a fun play on the game, Ryan reveals in the caption: “Ryan Seacrest to Launch New Era.” With each of the first letters highlighted. Further adding, “We’re so excited for this New Era of Wheel.” Instead of the friction depicted previously, the two are smiling and portray a friendly fun relationship together.
One user comments, “No offence to Ryan but those are big shoes to fill. I will miss Pat no matter what Ryan does.”
“I am sure Ryan will-be great 👏❤️. But Pat will be missed dearly. 🥲.”
Some fans talk about legends like Alex Trebek, Bob Barker, and Pat Sajak being missed. Another person says, “I know. We should never forget those who led the way.”

Fans Add Their Thoughts In The Comments
After Ryan Seacrest showed the lovable moment between him and Vanna White, several fans gave their thoughts in the comments.
“Wishing everyone the best of luck on the new season.”
“Ryan will just be his own lovable self and do a great job on Wheel! No one can fill Pat Sajak’s legendary shoes, but there’s no need to!! Each are legends in their own ways!! But Ryan will do Pat proud, just like he did Dick Clark proud.”
“Ryan will attract a whole new audience watching this show. That’s a good thing.”
“If Ken Jennings can do it on Jeopardy, Ryan has this in the bad. I think Ken is Terrific on Jeopardy. Ryan will be equally terrific hosting Wheel.”
“Ryan: You will be an awesome host and you’ll be great with Vanna!! Cannot wait for the new season!! Keep the insider pics coming!”
“Everything you do Ryan is great. Can’t wait to see the new season.”

Hard Transitions For Ryan Seacrest And Vanna White
While many of the comments are encouraging Ryan Seacrest as he takes the reigns with Vanna White to support him, others aren’t sure it will work out. When the promo for Wheel Of Fortune‘s new season dropped, some fans weren’t impressed. Ryan says, “I can’t wait to get to work.” In a megaphone, Vanna coaches Ryan into shape for the new season, saying, “Let’s get you ready for fall.” The caption read: “Ryan’s building his Wheel-spinning muscles – one brick at a time.” Although it was a funny take on getting Ryan ready, not everyone enjoyed it.
But one fan can’t believe Ryan was the pick, “What a poor choice!”
“I can’t believe I can never watch wheel of fortune again…”
“Seacrest is so bland.”
“I won’t be watching.”
However, someone else believes in Ryan, “Pat Sajak left some huge shoes to fill. I wish Ryan Seacrest the best of luck in this new role! Y’all gotta remember, everyone is new at something at some point.”
What do you think about Ryan Seacrest taking over? Do you think Vanna White and Ryan are working well together? Are you interested to see how the new season of Wheel Of Fortune goes? Drop your comments below.

“Oh, that happens here all the time,” Carey said.
“They’ll have a gummy or I’ll smell alcohol on their breath. Not unusual. There was a guy here that was tripping on mushrooms.”
HOSTING DUTIES
Carey took over The Price is Right when the show’s original host Bob Barker retired.
Although Carey kept up the same energy and ease with contestants, he admitted that he never saw himself in this role.
In fact, he admitted that he used to “look down” at game show hosts.
But after having risen the ranks, Carey affirms that the host’s job is so much “fun.”
With Barker’s death anniversary coming up Carey said he wants to do everything he can to keep the show running and entertaining.
“And I want to be a good steward of the show, so I don’t screw it up and wreck it from the very beginning,” he said.
“I just wanted to make sure it was always on.”
WHAT’S IN STORE?
The host admits that he’s a fan of the regular shows for the most part, but would love to take a trip to Seoul, South Korea. The Price is Right host Drew Carey insults contestant after commenting on his grammatically incorrect Plinko game shirt
“Maybe do a whole week and have K-pop bands on as special guests to help play the prizes,” he suggested.
“Korea is one of our strongest allies, and I think it would help put a dent in some of the Asian hate that’s out there right now.”
He also revealed that there are certain prizes on the show that he wished he could win.
Carey mentioned that he’s quite fond of traveling and would love to win a cooking trip to Italy, a tour of the Vatican, or a trip to a different island – if he could.
TOUGH LOVE
The Price is Right Hosts
The Price is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.
Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)
Drew Carey – October 2007 to present
Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes, also hosted the nighttime version
Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special
Drew Carey is known for making jokes at the expense of his contestants.
Earlier this month, the host took a dig at one contestant on The Price is Right, which led fans to praise him for the hilarious moment.
The game show host criticized the contestant who bid just one dollar over the person next to her — a common strategy for getting onto The Price is Right stage.
He took it further, calling out the contestant named Karen for living up to her name.
She also wore a shirt that read “The Original Karen,” in the font of the classic game show.
In another instance, Carey laid into a Price is Right contestant, leading to a pile-on of jokes at the player’s expense.
The game show host commented on a player’s grammatically incorrect shirt.

It’s been 12 years since Vanna and John began dating, and friends of the couple say they’re ready to become Mr. and Mrs.
A friend recently spoke with Closer Weekly and revealed that after some hesitancy on Vanna’s part, the couple is ready to take the plunge.
“John’s always wanted to make it official, but Vanna was hesitant, only because she didn’t feel it was necessary to marry again,” the source recently told the outlet.
Although Vanna hasn’t been in a rush to walk down the aisle, the friend reveals that she changed her mind and is ready to meet John at the altar.
“Things change, though,” the insider shared. “Vanna just feels like the timing is right.”
Vanna White’s recent trip to Hawaii inspired her idea for a tropical wedding to John Donaldson
Vanna and John’s February 2024 trip to warm and sunny Hawaii may have gotten Vanna’s wheels turning, and Vanna wants to tie the knot in The Aloha State.
“I like sun. I like warm, tropical,” Vanna said of her preferred climate and a potential place to become a bride again.
Vanna, 67, was in Waikiki last month to film for Wheel of Fortune, and John, a 58-year-old construction company owner, tagged along.
The tropical nuptials will likely include Vanna’s two children from her first marriage, her daughter Gigi and her son Nikko, but either way, it’ll be a low-key gathering.
“It might just be Vanna and John, a justice of the peace, and whoever happens to be on the beach,” added the friend. “This wedding is all about the two of them.”
Another source recently told the outlet that Vanna and John’s ceremony will be “short and sweet.”
“They’re spending lots of romantic time together between shooting, and Vanna wants to show her appreciation for this wonderful guy who’s been so patient,” the second insider revealed. “So they’re going to do it in Hawaii.”
Vanna was previously married to George Santo Pietro from 1990 until 2002, and she was engaged to John Gibson, who passed away in a small aircraft crash in 1986.
Vanna feels like she and John are already husband and wife
Last year, the 67-year-old iconic tile-turner told PEOPLE that she and John had no plans to get married.
“I mean, we’ve been together 12 years, and I feel like we are married,” she told the publication, adding, “in my eyes and his eyes, we are married.”
According to the sources close to Vanna, however, the Wheel of Fortune star and her longtime beau would improve their relationship by becoming husband and wife.
As the insider relayed, “Vanna and John have it so good that getting married can only make it better.”
‘The Price Is Right’ Fans Demand Removal of Game That’s ‘Too Hard’ & ‘Not Fun’
‘The Price Is Right’ Fans Demand Removal of Game That’s ‘Too Hard’ & ‘Not Fun’
CBS
Every episode of The Price is Right features an undisclosed assortment of games, and that variety is part of the appeal. But fans are offering their two cents about the “3 Strikes” game, which they claim is “not fun” after 14 players lost consecutively with no winner in a staggering three years.
For those unfamiliar, “3 Strikes” is a pricing game that debuted on TPIR on February 12, 1976. In it, contestants can win a brand-new luxury car by correctly guessing its price. The contestant is shown eight baseballs: five white ones with non-repeating numbers on them, each representing one of the five numbers in the car’s price. There are also three red “strike” balls with an X on them.
After all eight balls are shuffled into a rotating drum, the contestant blindly draws a ball from the bag. If they pick a numbered ball, they must correctly put it in the right position of the car’s total price. If they’re right, the ball is discarded, and the digit is lit up in the price display. But if they’re wrong, the ball goes back into rotation. However, if the contestant draws a red ball with a strike, a foghorn sounds instead, and an X marker is lit on the board before the ball is discarded. If the contestant draws three strike balls, the game ends.
On Monday, November 18’s episode a player bombed out with zero correct guesses and gave a big thumbs down mid-way (above) looking frustrated. She sarcastically told Drew Carey, “I love your positivity!” as she floundered. After she lost, Carey exclaimed, “That was a rough one” and the audience fell silent.
After it aired, a fan started a discussion in the TPIR Reddit forum, arguing that the segment is “too hard” and others agreed.
“3 Strikes is not a fun game,” the fan titled the post. The user continued, “Every time the contestant pulls a strike Drew says it’s good because there’s one less strike to worry about. That’s specious reasoning and it annoys me so much. Today the contestant even said ‘I love your positivity’ to Drew. I like to think she meant it sarcastically. This game is just way too hard. Sure, it’s played for a very expensive car, but the odds are so low and it’s based mostly on luck. I get annoyed every time it’s played. Does anyone know the winning statistics on this game?”
Another fan replied, “I don’t have the exact stats but there was a period of time where someone only won once in 6 years during a particularly bad drought. I can also say that, even if you play perfectly and guess all 5 digits correctly as you pull them out, your odds of winning that game are 37.5%. So even a perfect play will only win 1/3 of the time. I put ‘3 Strikes,’ ‘That’s Too Much’, and the dollar game in the same grouping as barely winnable games. At least 3 Strikes is always for an expensive vehicle, I guess.”
“I legitimately can’t remember the last time I saw a player get more than 1, maybe 2 numbers before striking out so I’m not a fan of this game either lol,” wrote a third.
“Not much of a spoiler but surprise, she got zero numbers,” wrote a fourth about Monday’s episode.
“As soon as I saw that game, I knew she would lose,” wrote a fifth. “It’s the “F*** you contestant, you’re not getting a car” game.
“I despise 3 strikes. Way too much luck involved,” wrote a sixth.
“It would be nice to be able to buy another chance with a pricing game after 2 strikes and call it a “foul tip” with a successful price,” wrote a seventh.
“And it takes forever to lose. Just a long, annoying, slim chance to win game,” wrote an additional fan.
“The last time we had a win was January 18, 2021 where a Range Rover was won,” observed one more. We currently went through 14 playings without a winner.” According to TPIR Fandom, there hasn’t been a winner since January 2021.
What do you think of “3 Strikes?” Should TPIR bench it for good? let us know in the comments section!

‘SNL’ takes aim at Kamala Harris’ ‘middle-class family’ response during ‘Family Feud’ skit
VP Kamala Harris has repeatedly told stories during interviews about growing up in a middle-class family
“Saturday Night Live” (SNL) mocked Vice President Kamala Harris again on Saturday during a “Family Feud Election 2024” skit that took aim at the Democratic presidential candidate’s interview responses and her stories about her background and growing up in a middle-class family.
Kenan Thompson, who played “Family Feud” host Steve Harvey in the skit, asked Maya Rudolph, who has appeared as Harris over the last few weeks, why she wasn’t winning in a landslide. Rudolph responded, “That’s a question I scream into my pillow every morning.”
Thompson’s first “Family Feud” question asked his contestants to name something that people would keep in a glove box. Rudolph hit her buzzer first and began her answer, saying, “Steve, look, I was raised in a middle-class family.”
“SNL” has used its cold opens to joke about both sides of the aisle over the last few weeks, including skits about both the presidential and VP debates.
“Oh, here we go,” Thompson added.
“My mother raised my sister and me. She worked hard and saved up, and we had a second mother too, a small business owner named Ms. Shelton,” Rudolph quipped, as Thompson attempted to steer the conversation back to what she would keep in her glove compartment.
Rudolph finally responded, “a Glock, Steve,” referencing Harris’ interview with “60 Minutes,” during which she said she owned a Glock. The “Family Feud” board showed “a gun” was the second answer on the list.
Thompson then brought the question to the other Democrats on Harris’ team, including Andy Samberg, who played Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan as Gov. Tim Walz, and Dana Carvey as President Biden.
Asked the same question about what someone might keep in their glove box, Samberg said, “I can’t top that. It was so perfect. I’ll go with the same answer, Steve — a Glock.”
“You want to give the same answer? Seems like a bad strategy,” Thompson said, before “a second gun” appeared as the top answer.
Harris has been criticized for dodging questions and giving vague responses during her interviews. Asked by Philadelphia’s 6 ABC anchor Brian Taff during an interview in September about what “specific” plans she has to bring down prices for Americans, Harris started her response by saying she grew up as a “middle-class kid.”
“Well, I’ll start with this: I grew up a middle-class kid,” Harris said. “My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard. She was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager.”
“You know, I grew up in a neighborhood of folks who were very proud of their lawn,” she continued. “And I was raised to believe and to know that all people deserve dignity, and that we as Americans have a beautiful character. You know, we have ambitions and aspirations and dreams, but not everyone necessarily has access to the resources that can help them fuel those dreams and ambitions.”

On January 7, 2025, reports surfaced online that Scarlett Johansson is set to take a new role in her career by co-hosting an American morning television show, TODAY with Jenna & Friends. The news, shared by an X user @PopCrave, sparked widespread discussions.
Netizens on X speculated that the rumors of financial strain have been fueled by recent online discussions, with some claiming that Johansson and her husband, Colin Jost, are facing significant debt. One user said:
“ok now im actually concerned her and colin are in serious debt,” one commented.
Additionally, some users on X revisited the lawsuit Johansson filed against Disney, questioning whether the financial settlement from the lawsuit had been exhausted.
“lawsuit money finished already ?” a netizen commented.
“didn’t she just run thru disney purse? what happened!” one more commented.
“He did buy that giant ferry boat,” another commented.
However, other users on X suggested that Johansson is not alone in this endeavor. They noted that many celebrities are taking similar roles, which some interpret as signs of an economic recession. Some fans expressed excitement about seeing Johansson on screen again.

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, American journalist and author Jenna Bush Hager broke the news with People that Scarlett Johansson will be joining The Today Show as a co-host. Johansson is set to host the show for a week, starting Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Speaking with the outlet, Hager described the announcement as a “wild dream” and expressed excitement about Johansson’s involvement, suggesting that her presence could bring remarkable energy to the show, especially since Johansson has never hosted a daytime show previously.
“It’s just a wild dream. But that’s what I’m saying, the fact that she’s coming to give us a week of her time, she could be doing anything, is a testament to the show that we have built. So I am beyond thrilled. I cannot wait. We’ve never seen Scarlett Johansson host a daytime show before!” Hager said.
Additionally, Jenna Bush Hager mentioned that Johansson has planned several fun activities with Avengers star Hoda Kotb. The latter, joining the conversation, praised Johansson, calling her an “awesome person” and reminiscing about their instant connection.
“First of all, you guys had a great click. She is an awesome person. And right away, I still remember, right when she was here, you were like, ‘Can she do it?’ You know when you know someone’s gonna be good at something?” Kotb said.
The show, TODAY with Jenna & Friends, is set to launch on January 13 as the new iteration of the fourth hour of NBC’s Today. The show was the top-rated morning show for the third quarter of 2024, outperforming ABC’s Good Morning America.
As of now, Scarlett Johansson has not released any statements regarding her upcoming appearance on the show.
