Jack Shannon was picked on the April 29 episode.

After putting in his bid on a DSLR camera, he guessed the closest amount and was picked for the next showcase.

Before beginning the round, Drew, 65, greeted Jack and told viewers that he was there with his father.

“Jack and his father making a living, it’s a family business where they make labels for like wine bottles, beer, paint can, anything you want,” Drew said.

“What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to make a label for?”

Jack thought about it and came up with octagon bottles.

“Oh wow. What an exciting life Jack leads,” Drew joked, stepping closer to the camera.

Jack laughed nervously and Drew joined in on his laughter.

“Still talking about those octagon bottles,” the host laughed.

They then moved on to the prizes he could get if he won the game.

    DREW’S ENCOUNTER

Jack’s dad, Richard, posted a photo of them waiting to see if they got picked on Reddit.

He told the platform users that Drew came over and shook both of their hands.

Richard said that Drew remembered about his business since his wife had won the day before.

Drew then turned to Jack and asked if he worked for his dad and about going to college.

    ‘NOT FUNNY!’

While most fans expressed their excitement and congratulated Jack for getting on the show, others pointed out that Drew comment was not funny.

“Didn’t like Drew asking what the strangest thing labeled and then laughing at him saying ‘still talking about those octagon bottles,’” one fan said.

“He asked & then laughs & pokes fun about an exciting life. Not nice and not funny!”

“He’s a young guy following his father’s business. Still rude & not funny,” another fan agreed.

“I didn’t like that either. I happened to be just tuning into the show right at that moment, so I did not hear the context. But it was not nice for Drew to poke fun at the young man like that. A joke at a contestant’s expense is never okay,” a third chimed in.

However, other fans defended Drew by saying that he was poking fun at his job and not him.

Drew Carey Makes Jokes About Contestant’s Job

Before they started the next round, Drew Carey stopped to talk to Jack, as he does with most contestants. He shared with viewers and the live audience that Jack came to the show with his dad.

“Jack and his father making a living, it’s a family business where they make labels for like wine bottles, beer, paint cans, anything you want,” Drew shared with viewers.

Continuing the conversation, Drew Carey asked Jack what the weirdest thing he’s ever made a label for was. After thinking for a moment, Jack said that it was octagon bottles.

“Oh wow. What an exciting life Jack leads,” Drew laughed. Looking rather nervous, Jack joined in on the joke, laughing with Drew.

“Still talking about those octagon bottles,” the host hammered down before moving on to list the prizes Jack had a chance of winning.

The Price Is Right Fans Aren’t Impressed With Drew’s Jokes

Before appearing on the show, Jack’s dad (Richard) shared a photo of them both on Reddit waiting to see if they’d be chosen for The Price Is Right. He shared that Drew Carey greeted them and shook their hands.

Richard noted that the host remembered the family business because he and his wife won the game show the day before. During their conversation, he asked Jack if he worked for the family business and inquired about whether or not he was going to college. Richard didn’t think they’d get chosen again, but he was wrong.

Fox News Host Newly Fired For Sexual Misconduct Had Inspired Earlier Warning

The Fox News Channel has fired one of its leading news anchors, Ed Henry, following an outside investigation of “willful sexual misconduct in the workplace.”

caption: Fox News has fired former anchor Ed Henry, left, who is standing with co-hosts Steve Doocy and Ainsley Earhardt on the "Fox & friends" television program in September 2019. (AP Photo/Richard Drew)

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace called the situation “a very serious matter” in an internal memo sent to staffers earlier today and shared with NPR and other news outlets. Henry’s co-host on America’s Newsroom, Sandra Smith, informed the show’s audience earlier this morning. Henry did not respond to detailed requests for comment.

NPR has learned that Henry was given more prestigious roles by the network despite a colleague’s warning to top executives that it could damage Fox’s efforts at reforming its workplace culture. Numerous executives and on-air stars were forced out after facing a blizzard of sexual harassment accusations in recent years. Several former colleagues tell NPR that Henry repeatedly pursued younger female staffers during his time at Fox.

Henry, 48, joined the network in 2011 from CNN and became Fox’s chief White House correspondent. In 2016, he was sidelined from covering Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign after tabloids disclosed his extramarital relationship with a Las Vegas hostess.

Then-Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes was outraged because he believed it would prevent Henry from pressing the Clinton campaign about former President Bill Clinton’s marital infidelities and alleged misconduct, several Fox News journalists told NPR at the time. Henry was removed from the White House and politics team and reassigned to the general Washington bureau.

The accusation prompting his firing was lodged last Thursday by a former colleague who is represented by New York City attorney Douglas Wigdor. Fox previously paid $10 million to settle gender and racial-discrimination suits against the network on behalf of 18 other former staffers represented by Wigdor.

The alleged incident that prompted Henry’s firing occurred several years ago, according to one of his former colleagues. And his termination takes place nearly four years to the day that a wave of accusations of sexual harassment and coercion triggered the firing of the network’s defining figure: Ailes himself.

    Steady promotions despite warnings

After the scandal in 2016, Henry revived his career. He became the substitute host of Fox & Friends Weekend, and chief national correspondent. In December, he become the co-host of the morning news show America’s Newsroom. That revival was conditioned on Henry’s completion of a sexual addiction rehabilitation program, according to several former colleagues.

His career resurgence became a source of consternation for some co-workers.

Ed Henry: Fired Fox News host files defamation lawsuit against the network and its CEO | CNN Business

Several former colleagues tell NPR that over the years Henry proved aggressively flirtatious with younger, female Fox staffers. He sometimes sent graphic notes and even graphic images to them, according to these colleagues.

In 2017, a written complaint was filed to senior Fox executives warning against giving Henry greater profile on the air, including as a substitute host and anchor, according to a former colleague with knowledge of those events.

The complaint said the prospect of Henry’s greater prominence on Fox was crushing for female colleagues after the network had promised sweeping changes following Ailes’ ouster. Among those with whom the complaint was shared: Jay Wallace, Fox’s chief news executive, and Kevin Lord, the chief human relations executive who was brought in with the mandate to help transform the culture.

Fox News said it would not comment about Henry beyond the memo it released from Scott and Wallace earlier today.

The Ailes scandals yielded to a series of allegations and investigations and the additional firings of numerous prominent men at the network, including star primetime host Bill O’Reilly, Washington correspondent James Rosen, and Fox News Latino executive Francisco Cortes, each of whom was accused of sexual assault and sexual harassment. All denied the allegations, save Rosen, who did not address the accusations made against him in the investigation or NPR’s independent reporting on the matter. Taken together, the Fox scandals helped to propel the greater #MeToo movement.

Wheel of Fortune Ryan Seacrest spoke out about LA Wildfire Destruction, and here are the fans’ opinions

Ryan Seacrest Among ‘Idol’ Stars in Disbelief Over LA Wildfire Destruction: ‘It Was Just Crazy’

Longtime Los Angeles resident Ryan Seacrest is safe but stunned by the destruction that historic wildfires there have caused since January 7, 2025. The “American Idol” host has addressed the ongoing crisis multiple times on his syndicated morning radio show, “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” and in his Instagram Stories.

It’s not clear where Seacrest currently resides in Los Angeles, given that he’s sold or listed most of his homes there in recent years, per Architectural Digest, but he did not have to evacuate like tens of thousands of people did to escape the quick-moving fires. However, he expressed concern for everyone who has been displaced, posting links on Instagram with evacuation locations and organizations accepting donations.

On January 9, Seacrest said on his morning show, “Everybody I know has either been evacuated, or is taking in friends who have been into their homes with their kids, who are just uncertain about what’s going to happen, where they’re going to go through all of this.”

Seacrest was one of many “American Idol” stars who’ve addressed their shock and sadness over the devastation that the wildfires have left in their wake.

One of Seacrest’s morning show co-hosts, Sisanie, shared on January 9 that she and her family had evacuated their home the previous night, when a fire in Studio City broke out “a handful of streets over from my house,” adding that “the winds are still so unpredictable and who knows how far an ember could go.”

“We had to pack up three kids and three dogs in our car, and we did the best we could,” Sisanie shared, relieved that her home wound up going unharmed. “But we were lucky. My brother-in-law and his wife lived not too far from us, and we were able to sleep with them last night.”

During the January 8 episode of Seacrest’s show, after a night of wildfires growing out of control amid whipping winds, Seacrest told listeners, “We were warned about these winds but, man, they really came as expected and it was just crazy how fast these fires were growing.”

“You could smell the smoke, you could see the smoke, you could see it covering the sun setting, you could see the flames from the 405,” Seacrest said, later adding, “It’s a scary situation.”

Seacrest wasn’t the only “Idol” star to address the LA wildfires. On January 8, country star and “Idol” judge Luke Bryan, who lives in Nashville, wrote in his Instagram Stories, “Sending prayers to all of those affected by the wildfires in Southern California.”

His fellow judges, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie, didn’t address the fires on social media, but Richie’s longtime love, Lisa Parigi, posted many resources and articles in her Instagram Stories, urging people to “Stay informed. Stay safe.”

Former judge and Los Angeles resident Katy Perry also shared multiple resources in her Instagram Stories, as did original “Idol” judge Paula Abdul.

Abdul was one of the first celebrities to post about the fires in her Instagram Stories on the evening of January 7, when she wrote, “Seeing the news about the Pacific Palisades fire has been truly heartbreaking. My heart and prayers go out to all the residents, wildlife and everyone affected by this tragedy. I wish that safety and relief come swiftly to all in the path of this disaster 🙏 To our incredible firefighters and first responders, you are true superheroes!!”

On January 9, Season 22 “Idol” winner and California native Abi Carter, who told The Desert Brew she moved to LA after winning the show in May 2024, posted on Instagram that she was on the road during the wildfires.

“Snow day where I am,” she wrote, “and fire rave where I’m from. Let’s hope my apartment doesn’t get an invite to the party from hell 😍🔥”

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Express Major Complaint About The Game Show

Some Wheel of Fortune fans have a major complaint about the game show’s current state.

One Reddit user started a thread on Tuesday, January 7, titled “Switching away from the puzzle board,” in which they expressed disdain for Wheel of Fortune‘s fast editing style.

“Does it drive anyone else crazy how often they switch away from the puzzle?? I don’t know a solution, but it makes it impossible to solve the puzzle with the amount they switch,” the Redditor wrote. “Am I the only one?”

Some thought the fast cuts have been a problem for years.

“I’ve been complaining about this for years…show the damn puzzle longer!” one fan wrote. Another added, “100% I’ve been saying that too. Half the fun is playing along!”

Meanwhile, other viewers even tried to find solutions to stop it. “I will use my dvr to pause sometimes. They don’t show the board even long enough for Vanna to flip some of the letters sometimes,” one wrote.

The Wheel of Fortune set is undergoing another change. This comes after they unveiled their new puzzle board and design changes at the start of Season 40. The executive producer teased the upcoming set change in a new behind-the-scenes video shared on social media.

Bellamie Blackstone is excited about what’s to come. She shared the details of the new episodes that will roll out for the remainder of the milestone season. It’s already been a season of highs and lows. Most fans have been mixed on the changes that have taken place on the set.

    Bellamie Blackstone teases new changes

In a new behind-the-scenes interview shared on Twitter, Bellamie announced that Sweetheart Week will return to Wheel of Fortune. This is when couples play together on the game show. This is a big deal since they haven’t had couples on the show since before the pandemic. Teen Week will also make a comeback.

College Week will take place over spring break. Bellamie shared some advice for teens who want to try out for the popular game show. She feels that those who are good with words should apply to earn a spot on Wheel of Fortune. Prior to all that, Secret Santa will return for the holiday season.

However, the biggest change has to do with the set. Producers plan to take Wheel of Fortune on the road for its XL season. They didn’t share details on its new location. This will include a major set design. Fans should notice these changes by early 2023.

Wheel of Fortune Season 40 puzzle board has fans mixed

Back in September, Wheel of Fortune partnered up with NASA to design its new puzzle board. It made history by incorporating technology into its classic game show. They unveiled the new look before the Season 40 premiere. The game show returned on September 12 with long-running hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White.

Per Reader’s Digest, the original puzzle board required the use of individual monitors that relied on touch. The new one contains one large screen that requires a slight hover over each letter. This is due to the use of LIDAR technology, also known as laser technology. The new Wheel of Fortune set would also include new “graphics and logos.”

At the time, Bellamie revealed that this season of Wheel of Fortune would have “bigger prizes [and] bigger puzzles.” Players are winning more money than ever. There are even more changes to get your hands on the million-dollar prize. However, fans were mixed about the new puzzle board.

Ryan Seacrest Announces Sad News For E! Live Fans

It’s the end of an era on the E! Network. Everyone’s favorite professional host and face of award show interviews, Ryan Seacrest, has announced that he is leaving his longtime gig as co-host of E!’s Live from the Red Carpet. After over a decade of grilling celebs and Hollywood A-listers on the finer points of their fashion choices with Giuliana Rancic by his side, the 46-year-old announced in an Instagram post that he’s moving on.

Under a smiling photo donned in a tux with an E! emblazoned microphone, the man who has made millions as a professional master of ceremonies broke the news to fans and followers, sharing, “After 14 years of hosting E!’s Live from the Red Carpet I’ve decided to move on to new adventures.”

With American Idol, the production of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, his radio show “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” and his co-hosting duties on Live with Kelly and Ryan, it’s no wonder Seacrest might want to free up a little bit of time in his busy schedule. Especially after, as USA Today notes, the consummate entertainer gave everyone a scare last summer after (what was later diagnosed as) exhaustion caused him to stutter and slur his way through the American Idol virtual finale.

A replacement for Ryan Seacrest has not been named by E! yet

Although the announcement certainly came as a surprise to fans, it’s obvious Ryan Seacrest’s relationships with his co-workers and E! Network executives are intact and positive. His departure announcement concluded by thanking everyone from crew to fans for the wonderful experience, poignantly stating, “I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana. Thanks to everyone for watching all these years.”

Amidst the messages from fans and well-wishers, many fellow E! employees joined in to send Seacrest off. Among them, Fashion Police‘s Brad Goreski who wrote, “You are a legend Ryan!” And E! News anchor Jason Kennedy who shared, “It was a pleasure brother.” Even an official statement by E! came with accolades for the longtime host, “E! has long enjoyed our relationship with Ryan over the years especially as co-host of E!’s signature red carpet series. He has been instrumental in giving viewers a front row seat to some of Hollywood’s biggest nights. We are extremely appreciative of his many contributions and he will always be part of the E! Family” (via TV Insider).

As the next major red carpet event quickly approaches with the Golden Globes slated to air on Feb. 28, the New York Post reported that no replacement host has been named by the network yet. It’s certainly hard to imagine anyone else filling those Ryan Seacrest shoes!
