On a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune, Ryan Seacrest upset fans by appearing to make a mistake during the bonus round

Ryan Seacrest is having a hard time filling Pat Sajack’s shoes.

The new host of Wheel of Fortune was recently called out by fans after he seemingly didn’t hear a contestant’s correct answer during the bonus round. Typically the round started with the winning contestant spinning a bonus wheel and whatever envelope they land on is the prize if they guess the bonus puzzle right.

On the episode of the long running game show that premiered Wednesday December 18, Noel Ballacco was able to make it to the bonus round. For her puzzle board the category was “people” and she was given the traditional letters “R, S, T, L, N, and E” to help her out.

As usual she had to choose three consonants and a vowel, picking “G, L, M, and I.” Once her ten second timer started, Noel didn’t waste any time guessing: “Great kids.”

Vanna White appeared to smile and nod, seemingly nodding that Noel was correct. However, Ryan stayed silent.

Noel continued to think, repeating the phrase once more as Vanna held out her hands like she was waiting for Ryan to say that the contestant was right. Soon enough, Ryan said: “yes, that’s it!” and celebrated with Noel as he revealed she won $50,000.

Fans watching at home noticed this interaction and took to Reddit to share their thoughts. “Did anyone else catch she said the correct answer, but Ryan didn’t call it out as being correct at first?” one person asked.

“She had to say it a second time before it was acknowledged,” they continued, “I even back tracked my TV to make sure I heard it right the first time around.”

Another pointed out Vanna’s nodding but said that when Ryan stayed silent they “started thinking [Noel] messed up.” Meanwhile others thought it was Ryan who messed up.

“If we’re this far into Ryan’s first season and he’s still making inexcusable errors like this, and others, then I don’t see him as taking the job seriously enough to continue,” a third claimed, “I want to like Ryan, the show has gotten better since he started, but stuff like this keeps happening over and over.”

A Wheel of Fortune contestant has gone viral over a blunder.

On the Monday, Dec. 30 episode of the game show, Gaelyn Nease from Tallahassee, Florida, Carmetta Wells from Los Angeles, California, and Mike Tomani from Rochester, New York, tried to figure out the letters in the word puzzle to try to win big at the end.

There was a moment when the three had to guess the letters to the ‘Food and Drink category. Gaelyn was on a roll, guessing multiple letters correctly, leaving the board with “NE _ / _ OR _ / _ HEESE _ A _ E.” When it was time to solve it, she thought of a different kind of cheese dish than the correct one.

    Gaelyn guessed: “New York Cheesesteak.”

Carmetta quickly swooped in with the correct answer – “Cheesecake” – which helped her to win a trip to New York City, including a VIP ticket to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve hosted by Ryan Seacrest. She also walked away from Wheel of Fortune with $68,250, while Mike won $17,700 and Gaelyn ended up with $2,000.

The moment went viral with viewers at home calling Gaelyn’s answer one of the worst in Wheel of Fortune history. One person on X, formerly known as Twitter wrote: “I was watching. Worst I’ve ever seen ‘live’ on tv. What a nerd.” Another posted: “I’ve never heard of a New York Cheesecake in my life.” A third user wrote: “I’ve heard of cheesecake, and I’ve heard of New York, but I’ve never heard of ‘New York Cheesecake.’” A fourth wrote: “A new all-time horrible answer.”

This is not the first time a contest has gone viral on the show. During the Thursday, May 23 episode, Tavaris, a contestant, had the audience laughing and shocked when he answered the “Phrase” category. The contestants were left to solve the puzzle and fill in the following missing letters, “_ _ _ _ I_ T_E B_ _T!”

Tavaris guessed and said: “Right in the butt?”

Not only was the audience laughing but people at home. Pat Sajak, former host of the show, was not amused and responded, “No.”

Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Ainsley Earhardt announced their engagement following a Christmas Day proposal at their Florida church.

The network personalities confirmed their engagement to Fox News in a joint statement, noting they maintained positive relationships with their former spouses.

“We actually made them aware this was happening ahead of time,” the couple said, noting they “still get along well.”

Hannity, 62, was previously married to Jill Rhodes for over two decades before their 2019 divorce.

The couple met in 1991 while Hannity worked at WVNN radio in Huntsville, Alabama, where Rhodes was a political columnist for The Huntsville Times.

During their marriage, they had two children: Patrick, born in 1998, and Merri, born in 2001.

Both attended Cold Spring Harbor High School in New York, with Patrick later attending Wake Forest University and Merri enrolling at the University of Michigan.

Earhardt, 47, brings two previous marriages to the relationship.

Her first marriage to Kevin McKinney lasted from 2005 to 2009.

She later married former Clemson University quarterback Will Proctor in 2012, with whom she shares a daughter, Hayden.

Their marriage ended in 2019 following divorce proceedings initiated by Proctor.

Proctor denied allegations of infidelity at the time, telling Page Six, “There is not one ounce of truth to the allegations that I had an affair. I am disappointed that this private matter has become public.”

‘The Daily Show’ Scorches Ainsley Earhardt’s Most Obnoxious Habit On ‘Fox And Friends’

Ainsley Earhardt often stays out of the line of fire when fellow Fox and Friends co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy are going at it. She sure does say a lot, though, during other moments, and The Daily Show decided to document a certain habit for one of the Fox News personalities who’s very upset that Christmas is ruined because no one wants to work. The same host who declared Trump a super hard worker tends to revert to a telling habit: mentioning “my friend” in countless instances to support her points.

As the Trevor Noah-hosted Comedy Central show phrased things, “Ainsley Earhardt takes the ‘friends’ part of ‘Fox & Friends’ very seriously.” From there, this clip functions as a compilation of every time that the co-host has mentioned her friends, her best friend, her anti-vaxxer friends, her friends with kids, and well, you get the point. The routine quickly grows tedious while one watches the exhaustive repetition, which is punctuated by this awkward reaction face from Brian Kilmeade around the 1:30 mark.
    Fox News/Comedy Central
It must be noted that Kilmeade doles out his fair share of idiosyncrasies on-air, too, mainly in the form of tantrum-y outbursts and baffling claims about reading Hitler in school and whatnot. Still, Ainsley deserves the spotlight where The Daily Show is concerned. Or at least, her “friends” (if they all really exist) deserve it.

As Media Matters writer Bobby Lewis put it on Twitter, “‘i have a friend’ = ‘i saw someone say this online.’”

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, 60, has fans ‘teary’ with health update after birth of first child

Greg Gutfeld has broken his social media silence since welcoming his first child with his wife, Elena Moussa, by sending his fans a worrying health update.

Jesse Watters congratulates Greg Gutfeld on becoming a dad

It’s likely not the update fans hoped for, but Greg Gutfeld has finally made a return to social media after welcoming his first child aged 60.

On Christmas Day, the Fox News star took to his Instagram to share a handful of festive posts with his 541k followers.

The first upload was an adorable snap of his beloved French bulldog, Gus, chilling on the couch. Along with it, Greg penned: “As usual, he got me nothing for Christmas. Although he left something that looks like coal in the middle of the living room.”

A few hours later, Greg shared a video of him and Gus taking a festive walk in the snow.

Gus looked ever so cute in a little black coat as he excitedly sniffed and ran around while Greg narrated: “Oh, he’s happy. Look at him go up the hill.

    Greg Gutfeld

“This is good, probably good for me too,” the TV host added.

However, Greg captioned the post: “Upstate sick as a dog. Not this dog. He’s doing fine,” seemingly insinuating that he wasn’t feeling too well.

Despite Greg’s worrying update, fans were thrilled to see him active on his social media. In the comment section, fan @lucysanders2962 gushed: “So hearing your voice made me teary, hearing your news about a baby brought tears, watching The Five’s Christmas exchange today brought tears, and so I say.

“Congratulations to you, Elena, & Gus on your baby, so very happy for you all. But, I know I’m not the only one who misses you terribly:) We need you to come back please.”

A second person @gae_special echoed: “Congratulations! Happy healthy new year. Please come back really soon. Show is just not the same without you.”

With user @eyepatch2008 writing: “Merry Christmas! I hope you feel better. Enjoy that new baby! They really will grow up so fast. And get back to work. We miss you.”

And @carolewoosley said: “Merry Christmas and Congratulations on your newest addition to the family! Lack of sleep as a new parent is probably why you are sick! New parents lose an average of 750 hours of sleep in the first year of having the baby!”

As fans pointed out, Greg has been missing from The Five and Gutfeld! for quite a few weeks after he welcomed his first child, a baby girl named Mira, with his wife Elena, 42.

The news was confirmed by his co-hosts Jesse Watters and Dana Perino live on air earlier this month.

It’s not clear when Greg will return to the network, but he is expected to return sometime in the new year.

Wheel of Fortune fans slam show after contestant was ‘robbed’ over minor mispronunciation

    It cost her $40,000

wheel of fortune, game shows, game show fails

    Van Nam Vlog/Youtube

    That wasn’t sa-FAIR-i.

Should Wheel of Fortune contestants be disqualified over mispronounced words? This has been a topic of debate since the game show first aired back in 1975, more or less. It becomes an especially tricky conversation when factoring in a player’s accent, which many folks say shouldn’t cause them to lose their winnings if indeed their guess was correct on a puzzle solve.

This conundrum recently reared its ugly head for the show’s February 3rd episode, during which Arzice Salonga, a single mom from Medina, Ohio, (keep this in mind for later) buzzed in to solve the opening $1,000 Tossup puzzle—a two-word “Event” which read: “A F _ I _ _ N / _ A _ A _ _” on the board.

Salonga correctly guessed “African Safari,” however, pronounced it “Sa-FAIR-ee,” which was deemed incorrect. Fellow contestant Brian Nelson then swooped in with the correct pronunciation and nabbed the $1,000 prize.

    – YouTubewww.youtube.com

“Yes, safari is the way you have to say that,” host Ryan Seacrest said to a shocked Salonga. “I just checked with our judges to make sure.”

Online, fans quickly came to Salonga’s defense. Especially on Reddit, where one person said “That was cheap. I didn’t think they were so fussy on pronunciation.”

Another added, “She was robbed IMO.”

Still another wrote, ““100 percent bull**** on that puzzle. She got screwed. I know pronunciations matter but, like…there’s been way worse.”

And here’s where the accent issue came up. A few surmised that the mispronunciation was actually more of a dialect thing, and shouldn’t be counted against her.

“I think it was such a mistake by the show. It sounds to me like she has a slight accent of some sort, which shouldn’t be a determining factor. If she had spelled it, it would have been right,” wrote one person.

“I thought her pronunciation was just a regional dialect,” echoed another.

Ohio does, in fact, have three distinct regional accents. The Midland one in particular, which is the most common regional accent, pronounces words like “merry”, “Mary”, and “marry” the same way. Meaning that it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for someone from this area to pronounce a word like “safari” as “sa-fair-ee.”

Still, a few felt the show was in the right for the disqualification. One person said, “I’m gonna go against the grain. Wheel is a show about words. You should pronounce the words correctly to win.”

Of course, there have been other times when Wheel of Fortune’s stringent rules have cost contestants their prize money, including one infamous episode where a contestant lost his chance at the $1 million prize due to mispronouncing “Mythological Hero Achilles.” But this strict mandate seems to only really come into question when the pronunciation is due to an accent, as when one contestant’s Southern accent caused her to say “Seven swans a-swimmin’!” rather than “Seven swans a-swimming.” Or another contestant named Neetu whose accent made it sound like he said “In A Moment’s Notice” rather than “At A Moment’s Notice.”

Unlike a puzzle on the show, maybe there’s not one right answer to solve this dilemma, and we should make room for some nuance. At the same time, what’s a game without rules? Thankfully most of us don’t need to worry about it. But if you do plan on trying to win big, maybe do a quick review of proper pronunciations before spinning that wheel, just to be safe.

    Wheel Of Fortune: Ryan Seacrest

New Wheel Of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest recently made his debut, officially taking over for Pat Sajak. However, according to a recent insider, Seacrest may be regretting his choice to take on this new gig. Does he already want out?

Wheel Of Fortune: Fans Have Been Wanting Ryan Seacrest Out

Even before he stepped onto the Wheel Of Fortune set to take over hosting duties from Pat Sajak officially, many game show fans already wanted Ryan Seacrest out as the new host. Essentially, fans called for his removal even before he had a chance to genuinely prove himself.

Of course, stepping into a role that Pat Sajak held for decades is no easy task. The Price Is Right fans eventually accepted Drew Carey as the new host, but, it took some time. As for Ryan, while some Wheel Of Fortune fans have been willing to give him a chance, many wrote him off as soon as it was announced that he would take over.

Does Seacrest Want Out Of New Gig?

Ryan Seacrest recently made his official debut as the new Wheel Of Fortune host, but, according to a recent insider, the celeb, host, and radio personality may already want out.

Speaking to Radar Online about the current predicament that Seacrest finds himself in, a source said: “Ryan is seriously feeling the pressure and wondering if there’s just no winning this fight. Everything he tries on the show seems to spark an outcry, and he’s already fed up with the fan backlash.”

Wheel Of Fortune: Ryan Seacrest Is Feeling The Pressure

Typically, when Ryan Seacrest hosts a show like American Idol, it’s the contestants who are competing and in the hot seat. However, in this case, it looks like Seacrest is the one feeling the pressure in this scenario. Between the huge paycheck and the high expectations, it all looks to be a bit much for the host.

The recent insider went on to add: “Ryan feels a ton of pressure because of his salary and the expectations that producers have set. He feels like the whole thing is weighing him down and wrecking his reputation. It’s also taking time away from his American Idol duties and his recent foray into launching a cooking show.”

While there’s no way of telling just yet how this Wheel Of Fortune situation will play out, or if Ryan Seacrest will ultimately stick around for the long haul, the fact that he seems to already have second thoughts so soon after his debut is certainly a cause for concern. So, this situation will surely be one to watch.

Scarlett Johansson is used to being behind the bit now when it comes to her husband Colin Jost’s stint on Saturday Night Live, although was caught unawares by a newer set of jokes from him on the latest episode.

The actress, 40, made an appearance on the December 21 episode of SNL as part of a bit introducing Martin Short into the five-time host club, alongside Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone and more.

She stuck around, however, to catch her husband, 42, deliver his Weekend Update segment with co-host Michael Che, and this week, they brought back their biannual tradition of writing jokes for each other and having them read it aloud on the spot, the Christmas Joke Swap.

As soon as the screen brought out a photo of Scarlett, though, immediately the live audience reacted with glee as Colin couldn’t stop the nervous laughter. What made the moment funnier, however, was a camera then panning to Scarlett herself backstage, watching it all on TV.

“Why?” Colin started. “I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo Scarlett Johansson,” and the camera then cut to the actress shaking her head in embarrassment, and Colin reacted upon seeing her with: “Oh no! She’s so genuinely worried.”

“Hey, boo,” he mustered. “Y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means I’m about to get up out of there,” and the Marvel star threw up her hands and went: “Why?!”

Colin’s latest Weekend Update Joke Swap might’ve been his most embarrassing yet

“Oh, there’s more!” Colin continued, then leading into jokes that even included their three-year-old son, Cosmo. Since they welcomed him in August 2021, the couple have been very private about their son, and have never shared any photos of him.

“Nah, nah, I’m just playing,” he went on with Michael’s jokes. “We just had a kid together, and y’all ain’t seen no pictures of him yet ’cause he black as hell,” and at this point, couldn’t stop from breaking into laughter.

His wife quietly sipped on her drink and shook her head once more, simultaneously shocked and entertained by the bit. Another set of jokes involving a Costco roast beef sandwich proved to be so out there that Scarlett shouted out: “Oh my god!” from the studio.

Scarlett was on hand to watch it all happen after appearing in the SNL cold open

Earlier this year, the SNL star told E! News about Cosmo’s growing relationship with his older half-sister Rose Dauriac, Scarlett’s daughter with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac.

“The two of them spent a lot of time together this summer, which was nice for them,” he shared of his son and his 10-year-old older sibling. “She’s a very nice, loving sister.”

He explained that getting them together usually isn’t as easy, because “normally she’s got her own life,” but it worked out this summer as “she was forced to stay with him for a lot of time, and they got along really well.”

As it turns out, Cosmo’s picked up some of his dad’s comedic timing as well. “He is funny. He’s sort of shy sometimes, but he’s a gregarious little guy. He’s fun,” Colin proudly detailed.

Ryan Reynolds Is Shunning ‘SNL’ to Dodge Ex-Wife Scarlett Johansson and Her Husband Colin Jost

Ryan Reynolds Is Shunning SNL to Dodge Ex Scarlett Johansson

Ryan Reynolds has only hosted Saturday Night Live once, 15 years ago – and he is in no hurry to change that. An insider exclusively reveals to In Touch that by Ryan not hosting the famous sketch comedy show, it avoids an awkward encounter with his ex-wife Scarlett Johansson’s current husband Colin Jost.

“I’d say pride is the big reason Ryan has steered clear of hosting SNL for so many years. The one time he hosted a decade and a half ago he was surrounded by a cast that were true peers of his, in the Kristen Wiig/Bill Hader/Fred Armisen era, and now the show is fronted by a cast that includes actors twenty years younger than him,” the source says

The insider continues, “Even for a guy with Ryan’s youthful energy, that’s a little too far outside his comfort zone. But there’s also the Colin Jost factor. It’s no secret in Hollywood that Colin wields an enormous amount of influence behind the scenes of that show, beyond just being a high-powered writer, senior cast member and Update coanchor. Colin is angling to eventually run the whole thing when that opportunity presents itself.”

Plus, the source adds that “Scarlett is a regular presence at the show’s wrap parties and through her once-in-a-while surprise cameos. It’s territory in the show business landscape that Ryan has basically surrendered to them as a power couple.”

On top of that, the insider says that Ryan, 47, “has a pretty big ego about his own comedy writing chops,” and he wants things “to happen on his own terms and not somebody else’s and especially not Scarlett and Colin’s.”

Ryan and Scarlett, 39, first began dating in 2007, shortly after the Deadpool star split from his then-fiancée Alanis MorissettePeople reported that the couple was engaged in May 2008.

“They’re both thrilled,” Scarlett’s rep told the outlet at the time.

The Black Widow star and Ryan wed just a few months later on September 27, 2008. Both Ryan and Scarlett kept their relationship out of the media for the majority of their relationship, and in December 2010, they released a statement announcing their split.

“After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage,” the statement to People read. “We entered our relationship with love, and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

Since then, Ryan went on to marry Gossip Girl alum Blake Lively in 2012, and they now share three children together.

Scarlett began dating French journalist Romain Dauriac in early 2013, and they welcomed a daughter, Rose, in August 2014. The couple tied the knot on October 1 of that same year, but by 2017, they had gone their separate ways. While Colin, 41, and Scarlett met in 2006 when she hosted SNL for the first time, they didn’t officially start dating until May 2017. They eventually wed in 2020 and welcomed a son, Cosmo, in 2021.

Saturday Night Live kicked off season 50 with a bang!

During the late-night comedy sketch series’ premiere on Sept. 28, which was hosted by Jean Smart and saw Jelly Roll perform as the musical guest, the Weekend Update segment addressed one of the biggest moments of the week in its typically tongue-in-cheek fashion.

The Sept. 26 announcement by Today show host Hoda Kotb — that she will be bidding farewell to her anchoring duties after 17 years — got a nod during the part of the show hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che.

“Hoda Kotb announced that she will be leaving the Today show,” Jost, 42, began.

“Hoda says she will remember her time on the show fondly, and not at all,” he then joked, as a photo of Kotb smiling while holding a glass of wine appeared on the screen behind him.

“Hoda Kotb will be replaced by — oh no! — Matt Lauer-be,” Jost next teased, as an image of Lauer, 66, — who was fired from his role as host on the show in 2017 amid allegations about his behavior — appeared with Kotb’s hair photoshopped on him.

Elsewhere in the show, the cold open saw Vice President Kamala Harris portrayed by Maya Rudolph, while Jim Gaffigan appeared as Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Andy Samberg stepped into the role of Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff and Dana Carvey appeared as President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, former president Donald Trump was played by James Austin Johnson, and his running mate for the 2024 election, J.D. Vance, was portrayed by his fellow SNL cast member Bowen Yang.

As well as a slew of skits featuring Smart, the season premiere of SNL also featured a cameo from her Hacks costar Hannah Einbender, who, alongside Smart, introduced musical guest Jelly Roll for his first performance of the night: the song “Liar” from his forthcoming album, Beautifully Broken.

SNL announced the cast for its landmark season earlier this month.

Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline have been added to the sketch comedy show’s roster, while Punkie Johnson, Chloe Troast and Molly Kearney have all stepped away. Returning cast members Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker, meanwhile, were promoted to the main cast after two years each as featured players.

Che and Jost, along with Johnson, Yang, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman and Kenan Thompson round out the remainder of the cast.

Other hosts and musical guests announced so far for SNL’s season 50 include Nate Bargatze with Coldplay, Ariana Grande with Stevie Nicks, Michael Keaton with Billie Eilish and John Mulaney with Chappell Roan.

Saturday Night Live airs weekends at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
