From creators Kevin Abbott and Julie Abbott, Happy’s Place follows Bobbie (Reba McEntire), who inherits her father’s tavern and is surprised to discover that she has a new business partner, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), a twentysomething half-sister that she never knew she had.

In Season 2, Happy’s Place reopens its doors, and a long-buried secret comes to light that will test loyalties and shake things up inside the tavern. Through it all, Bobbie must remind everyone that family isn’t what you’re born into, but it’s the people who stand beside you, even in the workplace.

Lloyd will play Clive, a gentleman who has lost his phone at Happy’s Place and comes back to retrieve it.

Taxi ran for 5 seasons, first on ABC from 1978 to 1982, then on NBC from 1982 to 1983. It follows the lives of the employees at the Sunshine Cab Company in New York. Lloyd portrayed the Reverend Jim “Iggy” Ignatowski since the show’s inception until the finale. Kane portrayed Simka Gravas, the wife of Latka (Andy Kaufman), since Season 2. The series also starred Judd Hirsch, Danny DeVito, Jeff Conaway, and Marilu Henner, among others.

Christopher Lloyd, Carol Kane, & Cheri Oteri Will Guest Star on Happy’s Place Season 2

Back to the Future legend, a Princess Bride icon, and a Saturday Night Live alum walk into a Tennessee bar…

Country icon and sitcom star Reba McEntire is back at the helm of Happy’s Place and three comedy veterans will also be lighting up the screen. NBC has announced that Season 2 of Happy’s Place will feature guest appearances from Christopher Lloyd, Carol Kane, and Cheri Oteri, adding even more star power to the dynamite ensemble.

    How to Watch

Watch the Season 2 premiere of Happy’s Place on Friday, November 7 at 8/7c on NBC and Peacock.

The Happy’s Place line-up of guest stars has already delivered plenty of laughs and exciting reunions. During Season 1 of the NBC sitcom, Reba alums Steve Howey and Christopher Rich delighted with their guest roles, as did other stars including Justina Machado and Michael O’Neill. Now, Season 2 of Happy’s Place will introduce viewers to three new hilarious characters, courtesy of Lloyd, Kane, and Oteri.

Comedy legend Lloyd, best known as the iconic Doc Brown in the Back to the Future films and Emmy-winning role in the sitcom Taxi, is set to deliver his signature eccentricity and expert comedic timing to the bar. On Happy’s Place, Lloyd play Clive, a man who lost his phone at the bar and returns to get it.

Joining Lloyd is his Taxi co-star Carol Kane, whose hilarious credits include playing Miracle Max’s shrill wife Valerie in The Princess Bride and Lillian in The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. In Season 2 of Happy’s Place, Kane will play Clive’s wife, a free-spirited woman named Theresa who’s “in pursuit of justice, excitement and her husband.”

Oteri — a Saturday Night Live alum with memorable roles in Curb Your EnthusiasmCrazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Grown Ups 2 — is also bound to bring the laughs as Monica, a no-nonsense health inspector. Monica takes her job very seriously and “doesn’t cut any corners when it comes to cleanliness.”

Season 2 of Happy’s Place will premiere with a double-episode event on Friday, November 7, at 8/7c on NBC. New episodes will air on Friday nights on NBC and be available to stream the next day on Peacock.

Part of the reason Happy’s Place has captured hearts is the show’s not-so-modern format. The multi-cam series is a nostalgic return to old form, a format that Belissa Escobedo was honored to enjoy alongside ’90s sitcom icon McEntire.

“It feels like… being part of a resurgence of sitcom television, and that’s very special, and so I’m feeling so lucky,” Escobedo told NBC Insider. “Reba is an angel, so it’s awesome to go to work every day and have it be her at the forefront.”

LAST MAN STANDING Star Breaks Down ‘Inside Joke’ on Tim Allen’s New Sitcom

LAST MAN STANDING’s Nancy Travis is revealing a subtle “inside joke” placed in a recent episode of SHIFTING GEARS she guest starred in.

“There’s a wink in the episode where you know that there’s a past,” Travis told Us Weekly about how the show acknowledged her past with Tim Allen. “People that are fans and loyal followers of Tim’s shows will really love that inside joke.”

The Tim Allen-led comedy tells the story of Matt, a car restorer who’s trying to adjust to life with his estranged daughter and her kids. Travis played Charlotte in the Feb. 12 episode 6: “Valentine’s.” In the episode, Charlotte tells Matt he reminds her of his “last man,” a nod to their show LAST MAN STANDING.

“You wonder how Nancy Travis is going to come back into this SHIFTING GEARS world and I think it’s a unique and clever way that they’ve engineered this,” Travis said. “I will say — even on LAST MAN STANDING — it’s almost like a trademark of Tim’s shows where there are winks. Because the people that have followed his career from HOME IMPROVEMENT, his stand-up comedy, LAST MAN STANDING and now SHIFTING GEARS, they know the details of these stories and these characters so deeply.”

“They’re looking for a little inside joke or nod,” she said. “There were many of them on LAST MAN STANDING so I knew there would be something. I just didn’t know where it would come or how it would come. Viewers will be looking for it too so it is a nice little bow they put on our scenes together.”

Allen is known for his roles as Tim Taylor in HOME IMPROVEMENT and Mike Baxter in LAST MAN STANDING, where he played Travis’ husband for almost 10 years.

“Tim is nothing if not loyal,” she said. “So it was great to walk on that set and see most of the crew was from LAST MAN STANDING. The director John Pasquin did so many episodes of LAST MAN STANDING and is a personal friend.”

“It was just so great to feel this sense of reunion,” Travis continued. “I wouldn’t be surprised if everybody from LAST MAN STANDING shows up on SHIFTING GEARS in one way or another. If Tim has his way, he’ll make sure that everybody from [costar Kat Dennings’] 2 BROKE GIRLS comes on too.”

Though Travis was excited to star alongside Allen again, she was also glad that she wasn’t in the same old role as his wife.

“It was really fun to be able to just come in and have a whole wealth of knowledge and rapport working with Tim. In terms of comedic rhythm, knowing how to set up a joke and how to tell a story together, it was great to be able to take that and apply it to Charlotte.”

“I do enjoy working with him but I think that it’s fun to explore new and different relationships between characters. It is very meta — maybe too meta,” she told Us. “I really like what they created, which is a soulmate friend.”

“Maybe it’s like the ghost of his ex-wife — Vanessa — who comes in the spirit of somebody else,” she said. “But I like the nuances of what they created with this different relationship.”

The actress explored where she thinks her and Allen’s characters from LAST MAN STANDING would be now.

“When we would film a scene on LAST MAN STANDING, one would be as written and then we would joke around about what would be the most extreme version of this scene. We would call that version when the door slams shut,” she shared. “If this show was on network TV, it would probably be Vanessa and Mike in rocking chairs bickering. But who knows what it would be when the door slams shut if they were on cable?”

Travis’s episode doesn’t leave any hope for romance between her character and Allen’s, but Matt has another love interest making her way onto the show on Feb. 26. Jenna Elfman is set to play Eve Drake, owner of the dance studio across from Matt’s car shop.

The next guest star to appear on the show is Jay Leno, who, like Allen, is a classic car fan with an extensive personal collection. In the show, Leno plays a character bringing his car in for a repair. He previously played a mechanic in LAST MAN STANDING.

Why Kaitlyn Dever’s Eve Baxter Left Last Man Standing

2011 was a huge year for Kaitlyn Dever. Though she was only 14 at the time, the up-and-coming actor booked small parts in two high profile movies (“Bad Teacher” and Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar”), popped as tough Kentucky cookie Loretta McCready in the magnificent second season of “Justified,” and joined the main cast of Tim Allen’s new sitcom “Last Man Standing.” That’s quite a range of shows and films, and this ensured Dever would get to flaunt her burgeoning talent all the way across the demographic spectrum.

For families with young viewers, “Last Man Standing” was the kind of relentlessly inoffensive sitcom they could watch together without worrying there’d be a ribald gag or profanity. Say what you will about Allen (and I’m quite certain the cocaine dealers he snitched on in 1978 to avoid serving a length prison sentence have said plenty about him), he knows what his audience expects from him, and, as we know from the legitimately great work he’s done (“Galaxy Quest” and the “Toy Story” movies), the man knows his way around a joke. He possesses an amiable presence and ace comedic timing.

Dever does, too, so it’s hardly surprising to learn that the veteran Allen quickly identified her talent and took her under his wing over six seasons while she played his youngest daughter on “Last Man Standing.” If you’ve watched this show, you know this warmth extends to their characters. Allen’s Mike Baxter is a manly dude who, of his three daughters, obviously likes Dever’s tomboy Eve the best. So why did Dever leave the show after season 6?

When Last Man Standing Was Briefly Cancelled, Kaitlyn Dever Found Work Elsewhere

Tim Allen as Mike Baxter has a heart-to-heart with Eve Baxter in Last Man Standing

At the close of its sixth season, “Last Man Standing” was the second highest rated sitcom on ABC. The series was a cinch for renewal. So the entire television industry was left gasping when the network unceremoniously brought the axe down in 2017.

Some suspected this was a response to Allen going on “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” and comparing his plight as a Hollywood conservative at the outset of the first Trump administration to Germans who opposed the Nazis in 1930s Germany. Regardless of the rationale, the show was dead, which left its cast and crew scrambling to find new gigs.

The timing couldn’t have been better for Dever. She’d just entered her twenties and was set to showcase her considerable talents in projects that were a tad weightier or more clever than “Last Man Standing.” So she went out and booked roles in “The Front Runner” and “Beautiful Boy,” which wound up being a problem for Allen and company when Fox announced they were bringing back “Last Man Standing” for its seventh season.

It was too late at this juncture to get Dever back as a series regular. Allen understood, but he couldn’t help but get melancholy over the departure of the young talent he’d helped nurture. As Allen told Fox News in 2020:

“We had an episode … where we had to change Eve’s room and it reminded me of real life. You know, your kid’s not coming back. They’ll visit, they’re not going anywhere, but they’re not coming back to the bedroom they grew up in. It was a really hard one for me to do based on my oldest daughter when she left.”

Happily for Allen, Dever wasn’t gone for good. She became a recurring cast member, and made sure she was available for the emotional series finale. Showrunner Kevin Abbott wouldn’t have had it any other way. “Tim [Allen] and Kaitlyn have always had such a special relationship,” he told The Wrap in 2021. “Not that he didn’t have it with the rest of the crew and everything, but I think he felt very fatherly to Kaitlyn.”

Dever has since become one of the brightest lights of her generation via terrific performances in “Booksmart,” “Rosaline” and “No One Will Save You.” She will no doubt be reinforcing this perception over the next two months with her portrayal of Abby in “The Last of Us” season 2.

Tim Allen’s ‘Shifting Gears’ Gets Fantastic News Ahead of Season 2 Premiere

Shifting Gears Season 2 Gets Exciting News Ahead of Premiere

    Tim Allen in Shifting Gears

Tim Allen has been a sitcom staple for more than three decades. His current ABC series, Shifting Gears, was renewed for a second season following rumors it might be canceled, but now things are looking up for Allen’s newest sitcom venture.

In the latest development, per Deadline, Shifting Gears, which also stars Kat Dennings, has been given an additional three-episode order for its second season by ABC. Now, Shifting Gears Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes instead of the original 10 that had been planned.

The multi-camera Shifting Gears launched as a mid-season addition to the network in January 2025 and follows Allen’s character, Matt Parker, a widower who is reunited with his estranged daughter, Riley (Dennings), after she and her children move into his house.

Even with Shifting Gears’ 13 episodes, which is more than the first season’s 10, it is short of a full 18-episode season order. That paves the way for room for ABC’s reboot of Scrubs. Scrubs is reportedly on tap to be a mid-season addition to ABC’s lineup and could wind up in Shifting Gears’ Wednesday night time slot when its season finishes.

So far, ABC has just one comedy series planned as a mid-season replacement show, and it’s the Scrubs reboot. The Bill Lawrence-created Scrubs, a medical dramedy, initially ran for nine seasons starting in 2001. While the network hasn’t yet announced its midseason schedule, Scrubs will likely slide into Shifting Gears’ Wednesday time slot when it debuts.

The Scrubs revival will feature original cast members, including Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley. Reyes’ character, Sacred Heart Hospital nurse Carla Espinosa, will make her return to Scrubs after sitting out the sitcom’s ninth and final season.

The reboot is being billed as the tenth season of Scrubs and is set to reunite Doctors John “J.D.” Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison) as the pair “scrub in together for the first time in a long time.”

Lawrence previously teased that the revival will delve into how the medical “system has not only changed, but how it has beaten some of these people down, and how they retain their optimism with a new wave of young characters.”

“My hope would be that we establish where everybody (from the original show) is, whether they’re still with us at the hospital, or not,” Lawrence said.

ABC has a stacked fall comedy lineup, which features Shifting Gears and Abbott Elementary. The upcoming Shifting Gears Season 2 will feature a Home Improvement reunion of sorts. It was previously reported that Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning will be guest stars on Shifting Gears Season 2.

Richardson is best known for playing Jill Taylor, the wife of Tim Allen’s Taylor, on the long-running Home Improvement. Karn played Tim’s “Tool Time” co-host, Al Borland, while Dunning played the “Tool Time girl,” Heidi Keppert. Shifting Gears also stars Daryl Mitchell, Seann William Scott, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis.

The first season of Shifting Gears is streaming on Hulu.

Happy’s Place Season 2 Setting Major Sitcom Reunion With Guest Stars

Reba smiling in season 1, episode 8 of Happy's Place

Season 2 of Reba McEntire’s show, Happy’s Place, will reunite two sitcom legends. Happy’s Place is Reba McEntire’s sitcom about a woman who inherits her father’s bar with a half-sister she didn’t know and their efforts to run it together. The series reunites McEntire with Melissa Peterman, her former Reba co-star, after they headlined that show together between 2001 and 2007.

Happy’s Place was renewed for a second season in February 2025, only months after the show’s NBC premiere. After Happy Place‘s positive reviews and proving once again that she is a sitcom legend, she will soon be joined by two of the biggest sitcom stars from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Per TVLine, Christopher Lloyd and Carol Kane will appear on Happy’s Place together, decades after they co-starred in Taxi. The two comedy legends starred in Taxi from 1978 until 1982 as the eccentric characters Reverend Jim Ignatowski and Simka Dahblitz-Gravas.

Lloyd will be portraying a Happy’s Place character named Clive, who comes into the bar seeking his lost phone. Kane has been cast as Clive’s free-spirited wife who is seeking justice.

Cherri Oteri will also appear during the show’s second season as a strict health inspector assigned to Happy’s Place who is very serious about cleanliness. Oteri’s role appears to be unrelated, as it is thought that she won’t appear during Lloyd and Kane’s reunion episode, though that is unconfirmed.

What This Means For Happy’s Place

Taxi's cast Andy Kaufman, Christopher Lloyd, Carol Kane, Danny DeVito, Tony Danza, Marilu Henner and Judd Hirsch when they were young

It is surprising and satisfying that two actors who are as beloved and hilarious as Kane and Lloyd will be sharing the screen together again decades later. Both have appeared in a variety of projects in recent years, including Lloyd’s recent role in Wednesday season 2’s cast, but this reunion was still unexpected.

If Lloyd and Kane are a hit on Happy’s Place, this will no doubt open up more possibilities for the show. The two actors could become a regular part of the Happy’s Place cast, or this initial success could attract appearances from other sitcom legends.

Our Take On Happy’s Place’s Season 2 Reunion

Carol Kane looking happy on the red carpet

It often feels as though terms like talent and legend get thrown around too easily in reference to actors. However, there are some performers who are so talented that it feels like the word legend doesn’t go far enough. Since Christopher Lloyd and Carol Kane fully invest in whatever characters they play and make the most of them, they are two of those performers.

When Kane and Lloyd appear on Happy’s Place together, it will be wonderful to see them reunite. Since they are such unique talents, I am most looking forward to seeing the compelling ways they will bring their characters to life and how they will impact the sitcom’s second season.

“Jeopardy!” hasn’t changed that much over the years — just ask the quiz show’s host.

“I love that the show is such a stalwart,” Ken Jennings previously told the Deseret News after winning the “Greatest of All Time” tournament in 2020. “Tonight’s episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ almost down to the second will be the same as an episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ from 1995 or 1985. They got it right the first time. And there’s just not a lot that’s like that in our culture, that never dumbed down or sped up.”

The show’s core format has stayed the same, but as “Jeopardy!” returns for its 42nd season on Monday, there will be a major change: For the first time in the show’s history, new episodes will be available for streaming.

‘Jeopardy!’ returns for 42nd season — and streams new episodes

As the newest season of “Jeopardy!” begins Monday, Sept. 8, episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and Peacock in the United States, and on the platform Crave in Canada, according to a news release shared with the Deseret News.

A major goal of this move is to expand the viewership and reach of “Jeopardy!”, which draws in roughly 7 million viewers each night, The New York Times previously reported.

“Having new episodes of ‘Jeopardy!’ available on streaming for the first time is a huge milestone in the history of our program, and we look forward to welcoming a new audience on these platforms,” said Suzanne Prete, president of game shows for Sony Pictures Television, in a statement. “We want to celebrate that leap forward while also making sure our viewers know that if they watch ‘Jeopardy!’ on their local station, they will continue to be able to do so. Our affiliate and owned station partners around the country remain essential to the show’s success.”

The show is also making archived episodes from past seasons available for streaming — including every game from Jennings’ record-setting 74-game winning streak back in 2004, per the news release.

“Jeopardy!” ended its 41st season in dramatic fashion, with 16-time champ Scott Riccardi’s impressive winning streak coming to an end, as the Deseret News previously reported.

Jonathan Hugendubler, an adjunct professor and trivia host from Baltimore, defeated Riccardi in the final game of Season 41 and will seek a second win during the Season 42 premiere.

Riccardi’s run led him to tie with contestant Ryan Long for the 10th spot for most consecutive wins in “Jeopardy!” history, and put him at No. 8 for all-time “Jeopardy!” winnings in regular season play with $455,000.

‘Jeopardy!’ returns for Season 42 tonight — Here’s how to stream new episodes

    Jeopardy

    Jeopardy! Productions

After a few weeks off for the summer break, “Jeopardy!” returns with new episodes tonight, Sept. 8, and for the very first time, the quiz show will hit streaming.

“Jeopardy!” has long been notoriously hard to watch if you don’t catch live airings or have the show set to DVR every night, especially if you live somewhere where the show airs in the middle of the day. New episodes never made their way to streaming services.

With the premiere of Season 42 tonight, Sept. 8, all of that is changing. New episodes of “Jeopardy!” will make their way to both Peacock and Hulu the day after airing on cable television, so subscribers of those services can watch current “Jeopardy!” without ever missing an episode.

In addition to the streaming news, the show also announced that a slate of “postseason” tournaments will return throughout the Season 42 run, all hosted by Ken Jennings. These include the Second Chance and Champions Wildcard competitions, the Tournament of Champions (ToC), and Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament (JIT).

“Wheel of Fortune,” which often airs either before or after “Jeopardy!,” will also stream in a similar manner.

When Does 'Jeopardy!' Return — and Where Can You Watch Season 42?

When does ‘Jeopardy!’ Season 42 start?

“Jeopardy!” returns for Season 42 on Monday, Sept. 8 with times and networks varying by TV market. In the tri-state area, episodes typically air at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. ET.

    How to stream ‘Jeopardy!’

As we noted above, “Jeopardy!” will officially be able to stream online one day after airing on television. That means Monday’s episode will stream online Tuesday, and so on. There are two streaming services you can subscribe to that will allow you to keep up with new episodes of “Jeopardy!” even if you don’t have cable: Peacock and Hulu.

When you subscribe to Peacock via Prime Video, you’ll be able to take advantage of a seven-day free trial before $16.99/month payments begin on the Premium Plus ad-free plan. If you’d prefer the less expensive Premium plan, you can subscribe via Peacock without a free trial.

Hulu offers new subscribers a 30-day free trial on its basic, ad-supported plan. Following that, the service costs $9.99/month (or $18.99/month without ads).

Both services will always have the five most recent episodes available to watch, so new episodes will expire after about a week on streaming.

    How to watch ‘Jeopardy!’ live

If you prefer to catch your “Jeopardy!” live, you’ll need a live TV streaming service that carries the local network the show airs on if you don’t have cable or access to a TV antenna.

One we love, with tons of flexible subscription options and plans, is DIRECTV, which has a five-day free trial and currently starts at $49.99/month thanks to some limited time offers.

From Bob Barker’s era to the new quirky avatar under Drew Carey, “The Price is Right” has remained popular on TV across decades by changing with the times. It’s 2025, and ahead of its 54th season, the show is gearing up for another set of changes. Of course, beloved cast members like Drew Carey, George Gray, and the models will stay.

As per a Deadline report, the new showrunner is John Quinn, who has taken the reins from Evelyn Warfel. Quinn has worked in a similar capacity on shows like ‘Let’s Make A Deal’ and ‘Press Your Luck.’ Among the changes that are reportedly on their way to the show are a returning game and several themes that fans will have to keep their eye out for.

The returning game, according to a TV Insider report, was last played on the show in the 2021 season. Details about it are yet to be revealed yet but fans of the show are already excited about it. There will also be a number of themes over the course of the upcoming season, like Breast Cancer Awareness, Valentine’s Day, Pet Adoption Week, Mother’s Day, and School’s Out.

All of these are seemingly positive changes as far as fans are concerned, and they took to Reddit to share their opinions on the matter. “I’m excited to see the new game. I love the latest new games, to the penny and back to ’72, ’73, ’74, etc. I’d like them to announce the retirement of certain games I don’t like,” one fan wrote in r/ThePriceIsRight. “Makes sense. This is the bigger fish than LMAD. And he has lots of experience elsewhere in Fremantle’s game show roster. But imagine having to guess the price of the crazy prizes Press Your Luck offers!” quipped another.

Quinn himself has been a massive fan of the show ever since he was a kid. The new showrunner even said that “The Price is Right” was one of the biggest reasons why he started working in game shows. “It’s the show we all watched during summer break and when we were homesick from school,” he had said to Deadline.

“This show is a major reason why I work on game shows in the first place, so to be a part of it now is an honor that I do not take lightly. I am beyond grateful and still pinching myself! From the second I came on board, I have felt at home, and that is a testament to the spectacular staff and crew who have been making this show a staple of American television for 53 years. What a delight!”

The Price Is Right is set to return for its 54th season later this month, and with that, comes a brand new pricing game.

“A new season of #PriceIsRight is just around the corner and we’re bringing a huge new game with us! Get ready to see what the roar is all about,” models Amber Lancaster and Alexis Gaube shared in an Instagram video.

In partnership with BetMGM, The Price Is Right introduces “The Lion’s Share.”

“In this high-stakes game, contestants will earn the chance to enter the Lion’s ‘wind chamber’ to pull out prizes including spectacular trips, dream cars and a cash jackpot worth up to half a million dollars!” CBS announced on Monday, September 8. “This marks the first addition to the current game lineup since 2021’s ‘Back to ‘72’ and ‘To the Penny.’”

Additionally, the network revealed a variety of themed episodes fans can look forward to in the upcoming season, including Halloween, Breast Cancer Awareness, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day episodes.

The new season, host Drew Carey’s 18th season, officially makes The Price Is Right the longest consecutively running game show in the world. Season 54 premieres September 22.
