On Tuesday, the show’s official Instagram page posted a clip from the season showing contestant Keith playing the popular Vend-O-Price game.

Host Drew Carey guided Keith through the game as he determined which shelf carried the most expensive food items.

Keith secured a victory in the end after guessing the correct price for bags of peanuts.

He jumped for joy as Drew congratulated him on his big win.

Fans immediately raced to the comments to share their excitement about the upcoming season.

    NEW SEASON CHANGES

Ahead of the premiere, CBS released more details about what to expect from the season – which will also include the show’s 10,000th episode to air in February 2025.

There will also be specially-themed holiday episodes and a “redemption episode,” in which former contestants compete for another chance at major prizes.

Additionally, the season will commemorate James O’Halloran’s 10th anniversary on the show.

The Aussie native is known for being the second male model on the show, joining in December 2014 after winning the Male Model Search.

Last month, the Price is Right announced a 60-venue tour, including many East Coast stops, that began on August 30.

The Price Is Right Live coming to New York and more in September – but southern state fans are ‘bummed’ there’s no shows
However, some fans expressed their disappointment that there were no stops near their hometowns.

Fans also recently complained about the schedule change for next season after it was revealed that nighttime episodes would be moved from Wednesdays to Mondays.

The switch raised concerns that Monday Night Football would affect future episodes due to frequent delays and overtime.

The Price is Right again faced backlash when the show didn’t acknowledge the one-year anniversary of its former host Bob Barker’s death on its social media accounts.

    The Price is Right Hosts

The Price is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.

Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)

Drew Carey – October 2007 to present

Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes, also hosted the nighttime version

Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special

Bob died on August 26, 2023, at 99 years old.

He hosted the show for 35 years before retiring in 2008 and passing his microphone to Drew.

Fans slammed the show for the misstep, with many saying they still “couldn’t believe” the legendary host was gone.

Last month, The U.S. Sun exclusively spoke to a Price is Right mega-fan about his thoughts on Drew taking over for Bob as host.

Ted Slauson—who competed on the show and is a 37-time audience member—revealed he was shocked that the comedian got the gig, especially since he never formally auditioned.

The San Antonio native also claimed Drew would often “push back” on producers, completely changing the show’s dynamic.

In a new interview, the host of The Price Is Right since 2007 gave an update on his contract with CBS.

While speaking with TV Insider, Drew discussed the major hosting milestone, shocking show moments, and whether he would ever retire.

“I just show up and punch the clock and hope I have a job every day,” he said.

“I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die. This is my 18th season. I’ve got to get the 35 and 41 so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak.”

Bob Barker was the host of The Price Is Right from September 4, 1972, until June 15, 2007.

‘A GREAT PART OF MY DAY’

“The longest I’d been on TV was The Drew Carey Show, nine years. Once I hit 10 years here, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s the longest I’ve ever had a job in my life,” Drew continued.

“It’s such just a great part of my day, my year, my life. I can’t imagine giving it up.’

“I don’t like CBS to know that, but it’s going to be a few years ’til my next contract negotiation. So maybe forget I said this.

“I can quit anytime I want!”

In a Reddit forum dedicated to The Price Is Right, fans discussed Drew’s vow to host as long as he could.

“I’m ok with this. I didn’t think anyone could fill Bob’s shoes. But Drew has been wonderful,” one wrote.

“He brings so much light and love to the show!!” a second shared.

“He’s the perfect host. You can tell he really enjoys the games and meeting people,” someone else said.

“I remember thinking in 2007 that I’d never watch it without Bob. I’ve grown to love Drew as he’s grown into the role. Happy to see him keep going!” a fourth pointed out.

    WHEEL’S NEXT CHAPTER

Wheel of Fortune is about to do what The Price Is Right did in 2007 where they say goodbye to a beloved host and hello to a new one.

Last June, Pat revealed that he was stepping down from his hosting position after 40 years.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he wrote in a statement.

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”

His final episode aired on June 12, 2024.

On June 27, 2023, it was revealed that American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, 49, would take Pat’s place as host.

In an Instagram post, he said, “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.

“I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”

Ryan ended his statement by sharing his excitement for his new journey.

Drew Carey’s Plinko Strategy Backfires—Fans Say His Advice Cost Big Money

‘The Price Is Right’ Fans Blame Drew Carey’s Bad Advice for Player’s $500,000 Loss (VIDEO)

The Price Is Right fans are coming on down on Drew Carey for giving an animated contestant what many felt were misguided directions.

In a clip shared on TPIR’s official Instagram page earlier this week, Lauren took on the Plinko Game. The show’s most popular pricing game (debuting in 1983), a contestant identifies the prices of small prizes to earn Plinko chips. Then, they take their chips to the top of a giant game board and release them, one by one, into slots at the bottom containing money amounts.

Since the highest amount was $100,000 and Lauren had five chips, she had the chance to win as much as $500,000.

Before she began, Carey advised her what to do: drop the chips down from the middle. “One at a time put them against the wall. Drop it, $100,000, right in the middle,” he said.

Listening to the host, Lauren began dropping her chips directly from the center, landing on a $500 slot and three $1000 slots. Midway through and despite the method not quite working, he reiterated his stance: “Just do that, that should do it.”

It became abundantly clear that dropping the chips from the middle did not lead to them falling straight down the middle.

“What’s going on?” Carey exclaimed. Her last chip landed on another $500 slot.

    The-Price-Is-Right-Bad-Advice

Earning $4000 total, Lauren looked overjoyed. “You know you dropped each chip perfectly,” Carey told her as she climbed back down and joined him: “She really did.”

That said, some fans weren’t so joyous in the comments section, calling out the host for intervening and standing on business with an unhelpful if not erroneous Plinko strategy.

“Drew Carey really needs to stop saying RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE when Plinko is playing because he’s annoying AF,” one fan roared.

“Hey Drew you don’t have to tell your contestants that the big money is ‘right down the middle’ every single time ffs,” wrote another.

“She dropped her chips in the same spot that was silly…If u really want to win BIG from PLINKO u gotta use common sense,” wrote a third.

Other commenters enjoyed Lauren’s over-the-top facial expressions each time a chip landed since her reactions were just so hilariously extreme: “Lauren your faces are KILLING ME,” wrote a fourth.

“Hahaha her faces,” wrote a fifth. “Wait did you win 4000 dollars?????” wrote one more. “I mean it’s not half a million but it’s amazing!”

After a brief summer hiatus, The Price Is Right returned with new episodes last month. Season 53 premiered on September 23 on CBS, and the longest-running game show in America is set to air its 10,000th episode in February 2025.

‘The Voice’ Season 28 is just around the corner, and the coach Niall Horan recently delighted his fans with a mini-vlog which highlighted the behind-the-scenes. On Tuesday, September 1, the former One Direction member took to his Instagram page and posted an exciting video, giving his 33.9 million followers a closer look at what his day looks like when he is filming the NBC singing competition. “A day in the life at #TheVoice. @nbcthevoice,” Horan wrote in the caption of the video.

The video kicked off with Horan lying in his bed, saying, “Well, good morning! I have just woken up and I’ve decided I’m gonna give you a day in the life at The Voice, so here we go!” Soon after, the ‘This Town’ hitmaker hopped in the shower, and the camera then cut to Horan blow-drying his hair. He went on to show off his outfit of the day, a crisp white shirt paired with blue pants, matching blue shoes, and his signature black sunglasses. Finally, Horan jumped into his car and headed to the set of ‘The Voice’.

Subsequently, Horan gave his fans a glimpse of his spacious dressing room and then, he playfully filmed his makeup artist and asked her to wave at the camera. The vlog then showed Horan with the other coaches of ‘The Voice’ Season 28, including Country of Pop Reba McEntire, five-time Grammy winner Michael Bublé, and rap star Snoop Dogg. All the coaches sported leather outfits; meanwhile, Horan stood out in a casual look. Then, a text appeared on the screen that read, “realises I’m the only coach not wearing head to toe leather today.”

Shortly afterward, the Irish singer-songwriter was seen sitting in his iconic coach chair, and he said, “We’re gonna do another knockout now. I’ve got one more team member to see if they make it to the playoffs.” At the end of the vlog, Horan shared, “Knockouts are done. It’s time for the playoffs. I’m going home. Thank you.” Then, the fans bombarded the comments section of Horan’s Instagram post with several messages. One social media user wrote, “Very cool, Niall, thanks for showing.” Followed by a second user who penned, “Love influencer Niall.” Another netizen went on to say, “Oh, how we love to see how you live your days.” Another user commented, “We’re gonna need more of these.”

For the unversed, Horan is returning to ‘The Voice’ following a three-year hiatus. Previously, Horan served as a coach on the singing show in seasons 23 and 24. Back in the day, Horan won both seasons with contestants Gina Miles and Huntley, respectively. In a video shared on the official Instagram page of ‘The Voice,’ Horan shed light on his concerns about reclaiming his big red chair, saying, “Yeah, you know, I’m coming back as a coach. I took a year out to go on tour, and I’m not sure how I feel about coming back. … It’s a nerve-wracking experience to come back, and I’m not sure if anyone’s going to want to be on my team.” The video showed Bublé supporting Horan by saying, “You better pick him.”

Why Isn’t Kelsea Ballerini Returning to ‘The Voice’? The Truth Behind Her Season 28 Exit

The singer is looking to slow down from a busy work schedule ahead of the new season of the NBC show.

why is kelsea ballerini leaving the voice 2025

Kelsea Ballerini was a coach on The Voice season 27.
Fans learned Kelsea will not be returning for The Voice season 28.
The singer went on the Today show to explain her reason for leaving The Voice.

Kelsea Ballerini has made a name for herself as a prolific artist in the music industry. And as such, she got to use her talents in quite a unique way this year.

After first being announced as a coach for The Voice season 27 back in 2024, fans got to see her in the new role in early 2025. As she sat alongside Adam Levine, Michael Bublé and John Legend, folks got to see her exercise her knowledge of all things music with the competitors. And while she didn’t end up being the winning coach this season (that went to Michael, whose artist Adam David clinched the top spot for The Voice season 27), she still managed to make an impression on viewers watching over the course of the show.

But as fans wait to see what happens next season, they learned that Kelsea Ballerini is leaving The Voice season 28 in the fall of 2025. And while Michael will reunite with Niall Horan, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg as coaches for The Voice season 28, Kelsea has a pretty good reason for why she’s not coming back for the next installment of the NBC series.

why is kelsea ballerini leaving the voice 2025

    NBC

When Kelsea appeared on Today With Jenna and Friends for an interview on May 29, she made a surprising confession about The Voice. While she loved her time on the show, she was in need of a breather from all the work she’s been doing in between being on TV and wrapping up an arena concert tour.

“I need a break!” she told Jenna Bush Hager and guest host Justin Sylvester at the time. “I’ve never been able to say that before, but I really think it’s just time for me to pump the brakes, figure out what’s next, have a summer, what? Go to the beach? Huh? Learn to cook a new meal, hang out with the dogs. So that’s kind of my agenda.”

Now, this we can totally understand! After all, being a working singer and TV personality does come with a lot of responsibility. And while we don’t know what Kelsea’s future with The Voice will pan out to be, she did voice just how special her experience had been being on the show.

“One of the greatest honors of my career to a be a coach on season 27 of @nbcthevoice with these absolute gems of humans. 🤍,” she wrote on Instagram on May 21.

The Voice season 28 is premiering this fall, beginning on September 22 on NBC.
The Voice revealed the coaches set to compete in the show’s season 28.
Fans may be curious to know why Gwen Stefani won’t be on The Voice after she was last seen on the show in season 26.

With The Voice season 28 premiering on NBC in just a few weeks, it’s easy to say we’re ready to witness a new batch of musicians vie for stardom.

The hit competition series will be back on the air beginning September 22, 2025, and viewers will get to see Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé as the coaches for season 28. Folks are especially excited to see this quartet of musicians appear on their TV screens very soon, given the fact they’re all returning coaches from seasons of the past.

But if we’re talking about coaches who have come and gone over the last few years, it’s only fair we talk about the great Gwen Stefani! The No Doubt singer has been a mentor on and off ever since she debuted on The Voice in season 7, and she was last seen as a coach back in season 26. But with things always switching up, folks are curious to know: Is Gwen Stefani returning to The Voice in 2025?

We’re so sorry to break it to you, but we have some news about Gwen The Voice fans will want to pay attention to.

    NBC

Even though there’s no public announcement for why Gwen isn’t on The Voice for season 28, we may have uncovered clues behind the hiatus.

Over the last few months, folks have gotten to see Gwen promote new music off her 2024 album Bouquet. With that in mind, it seems like she has been taking the time to perform a few shows over the summer. As she shared on Instagram back in July, her last music appearance occurred alongside her husband Blake Shelton at the Churchill Park Music Festival in St. John’s, Canada.

St. John’s 🇨🇦 💐 i’m coming for you July 27!! ✨,” she wrote at the time. “Can’t wait to sing with you gx.”

Outside of her work, the singer is also focusing on being a wife to Blake and mom to her three sons Kingston, Zuma and Apollo (she shares her kids with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale). Sharing behind-the-scenes moments with her family at home, she’s been adamant about being present and enjoying life away from the spotlight. In fact, folks got to see Gwen with her family in May when she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Even though we don’t know what else she has planned, is there ever a chance Gwen could return to The Voice? If her pattern on the show proves us right, there’s always a time and place we could see her sit in the red chair once again.

For now, though, looks like we’ll have to keep on waiting …

Reba McEntire Breaks Out a Secret Weapon on ‘The Voice’ Season 28 [WATCH]

The Voice is gearing up for Season 28, and Reba McEntire is already commanding attention.

NBC just dropped a first-look at the new season, featuring the country legend alongside returning coaches Michael Bublé, Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg.

The sneak peek is filled with playful banter, crowd-pleasing antics and a brand-new twist that’s bound to shake things up.

    Reba’s Fan Club

McEntire, now entering her fourth season in the red chair, came with a clever strategy.

Reba McEntire Dropped the Best 'Voice' Season 28 Update

The “Fancy” singer handed out folding fans stamped with her face to the studio audience — and she’s not afraid to put them to use.

“Fans, who should they go with?” McEntire teases in the clip, turning to the crowd as dozens of Reba fans flip open in unison.

It’s classic Reba: funny, resourceful, and designed to tip the scales in her favor.

    The Coaches’ Antics

Of course, the other coaches are bringing their own flair:

Snoop Dogg keeps up his rhyming pitch style, telling a contestant, “It took me all this time to get real — only you can seal the deal based off of the way that you feel.”
Niall Horan charms with praise for a contestant’s song choice, only to be left speechless when she blurts back, “I love you! I know where you have birthmarks.”
Michael Bublé proves he’s still the prankster, joking, “When somebody’s a bad boy, we put them in the penalty box. Now you get two minutes for looking too good,” as he boxes in Horan’s chair.

    New Twist: The Carson Callback

This season also introduces a fresh wrinkle: the “Carson Callback.”

“Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks and I’ve never been able to do anything about it until right now,” host Carson Daly explains in the teaser.

The new feature gives certain singers a second shot, which could keep both contestants — and coaches — on edge.

    When ‘The Voice’ Returns

Season 28 of The Voice premieres Monday, Sept. 22, at 8 PM ET on NBC, airing Mondays and Tuesdays this fall.

And there’s more ahead: Season 29 will welcome Kelly Clarkson back to her chair for The Voice: Battle of Champions.

She’ll coach alongside John Legend and Adam Levine in the show’s first-ever panel made up entirely of past winners.

    GTFO After You’re Eliminated

One minute they love you, the next they don’t know your name. Maybe it’s not that dramatic for contestants eliminated from The Voice, but it’s close. Expect a Psych Evaluation, and It May Go Public

The Things Celebrity YouTube channel reported on a 32-page contract that contestants had to sign to be on the show, and it’s detailed. Season 1 singer Frenchie Davis opened up about psychologists on staff, but this YT video claims the show can not only force mental health evaluations, but they can share those results on television.
That’s never actually happened, thankfully. Instead the counselors are mostly used to catch emotional contestants who’ve just been dropped by the show.

‘The Voice’ Rejected These Country Stars

Luke Combs was famously rejected by The Voice for being too boring, and he’s not alone. Other country hitmakers have gotten dumped with no TV time, including Maren Morris.
Brett Young was also rejected three times, but after moving to Nashville they called him and said he could go right to the Blind Auditions if he wanted. By then his career was cooking, so he told them, “Nah, I’m good.”

How Much Do Judges on ‘The Voice’ Make?

Of course, no coach from The Voice has ever revealed how much they are paid, but there have been leaks. It ranges from $2 million (Cee Lo Green in Season 1) to $25 million (Ariana Grande, Season 21), but most nab between $8 million and $13 million a season.
Blake Shelton was always thought to be at the high end of that range. Same for his wife Gwen Stefani, but not good friend Kelly Clarkson. She is rumored to have gotten $15 million for her participation in seasons 14-21. Shoutout to Yahoo for cobbling together this info, with links to original sources.

What Do Winners of ‘The Voice’ Get?

The prize for winning The Voice has been remarkably consistent: $100,000 and a record deal with UMG. However just about every winner has struggled to get their new label’s attention.
Craig Wayne Boyd and Sundance Head have both talked about a lack of respect for their music post-show. Winners have a very poor track record, but we’ll touch on that more later.

Literally No Winner of ‘The Voice’ Has Hit No. 1

That’s Season 2 winner Jermaine Paul holding up a No. 1. That’s as close as any winner ever got to No. 1. None of the show’s 24 winners have topped a singles chart in any genre.
The closest in country was Cassadee Pope, who had a Platinum-certified Top 10 hit after winning. One or two artists have also scored similar on Christian music charts, but by and large this is a group destined for a future “Whatever Happened To ….” feature.

You Don’t Want to Actually Win ‘The Voice’!

You’ve seen how poorly winners have done commercially. That’s not true for mid-packers.
Morgan Wallen is the most famous also-ran on The Voice, but others have scored hits. In country, songwriter Nicolle Galyon (Season 2) and “Wild as Her” hitmaker Corey Kent (Season 8) stand out.
Beyond that you’ll find Grammy-nominated gospel singer Koryn Hawthorne (Season 8) and pop star Melanie Martinez (Season 3).

    About That Humiliation Clause …

The contract a contestant signs is — or at least, was — pretty wild. The New York Daily News shared that the show could change the rules at any time, ignore the vote in the event of problems and eliminate contestants at any time.
Celebrity Access forwarded a clause that states that by signing, you agree to be presented in ways that “may be disparaging, defamatory, embarrassing (and) may expose me to public ridicule, humiliation or condemnation.”

    ‘The Voice’ Tour Bombed!

The Voice tried an American Idol-esque tour of its stars, but people weren’t interested. After Season 1, The Voice Live on Tour rolled out dates, and most were canceled due to lackluster sales.
A few seasons later the show tried again, but again nobody was interested in shelling out real money to watch winner Tessanne Chin and friends.

‘The Voice’ Judges See 18 to 20 Singers a Day During Auditions

On any given Blind Auditions day, coaches will only see between 18 and 20 contestants, which actually passes the eyeball test because this show has never felt like a cattle call like some others. Part of the reason for this is because …

    Training Is Intense!

Anyone who’s tried out for both American Idol and The Voice will tell you the NBC show does it better. You have several rounds of virtual and (local) in-person auditions before flying to L.A. for the blinds.
Additionally, a singer is training non-stop for months before the blinds. Cosmopolitan‘s article quotes several singers who opened up about how producers would train them for everything, including fainting on stage and reaction to feedback from coaches. There were also vocal lessons, social media training and interview prep.

    The Voice is so back!

In an exclusive first-look shared with PEOPLE from season 28, coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg return to their red chairs — and they’re having so much fun doing it.

Beginning with Snoop, the second-time coach is rhyming his way to success.

“It took me all this time to get real — only you can seal the deal based off of the way that you feel,” Snoop, 53, tells a contestant.

Then McEntire, who’s entering her fourth season as coach, made customized folding fans with her face on them and gave them to the audience. In the clip, McEntire turns to them for advice when she’s vying for a contestant.

“Fans, who should they go with?” the “I’m a Survivor” singer, 70, says, as the audience whips out the fans.

Why Reba McEntire Initially ‘Dreaded’ Doing ‘The Voice’ — and Actually Passed on the Show Years Before Joining

Meanwhile, Horan — who previously coached and won seasons 23 and 24 — is back to his charming ways when the “Heaven” singer, 31, tells a contestant he “loved” her “song choice.”

“I love you! I know where you have birthmarks,” the contestant says in response, which prompts a surprising look on Horan’s face.

Lastly, the clip shows Bublé — who coached and won seasons 26 and 27 — back to his antics.

“When somebody’s a bad boy, we put them in the penalty box. Now you get two minutes for looking too good,” the “Feeling Good” singer, 49, says, as he places a box around Horan’s chair.

In addition to the coaches preview, the clip also reveals that there’s a new element this season called the “Carson Callback.”

“Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks and I’ve never been able to do anything about it until right now,” host Carson Daly says.

The Voice season 28 premieres Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will continue to air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

A BIG New Rule Change on The Voice Season 28 Gives Carson Daly More Power (DETAILS)

A New Rule Change on The Voice Season 28 Gives Carson Daly More Power (DETAILS)

Longtime Voice host Carson Daly is tired of seeing “great singers fall through the cracks.”

For 28 seasons of The Voice, Carson Daly has been the most supportive and empathetic host. He’s cheered on Artists from the sidelines during Blind Auditions, offered words of encouragement to Artists’ family members, and celebrated chair turns as if they were his own. But he’s never actually gotten a say in which Artists move on and who goes home. Well, that’s about to change.

Is Carson Daly Leaving The Voice?

In a new trailer for The Voice Season 28 — watch above — a new rule change is introduced that gives Daly more power. And it’s something he’s been wanting for a while.

“Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks,” Daly says in the trailer. “And I’ve never been able to do anything about it — until now.”

With that, the camera panned to a little red card called the Carson Callback, and this new feature is sending Coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé into a frenzy.

“What is happening, Carson Daly?” a shocked Bublé asks in the trailer.

The answer: The Carson Callback! That’s what’s happening. Read more, below.

Little is known about the Carson Callback right now, but all will be revealed when The Voice Season 28 premieres Monday, September 22 at 8/7c on NBC. From this trailer — and from the name itself — it’s safe to assume the Carson Callback will allow Daly to “call back” an Artist who doesn’t advance in the competition. But you’ll have to tune in to learn more about when and how Daly will be able to deploy this new power.

So, what else is in store this season? It’s clear the Coaches are having a blast with each other, and the Artists are more passionate than ever. (Please see: The one who knows where Horan’s “birthmarks” are.)  Bublé has on his Reba socks, Horan is Irish dancing, and there’s something called a Penalty Box that’s definitely going to cause some chaos.

“When somebody’s a bad boy, we put them in the Penalty Box,” Bublé says before telling Horan, “Now you get two minutes for looking too good.” The price of beauty, right?

Get your song choices ready. The Voice is coming back!

  • Rex Linn’s Wild Surprise on Happy’s Place Season 2 Set Leaves Everyone Talking

Rex Linn’s Wild Surprise on Happy’s Place Season 2 Set Leaves Everyone Talking

Rex Linn Chopping a Cucumber with His Bare Hands on the Happy’s Place Set Is So Chaotic

The star behind Emmett on NBC’s Happy’s Place has no need for a knife.

Rex Linn is a man of many talents. Beyond starring as Emmett on Happy’s Place and holding a state champion title in duck calling, the accomplished actor can also chop up a whole cucumber with just his bare hands. And Linn’s skills in the kitchen have certainly impressed Reba McEntire, his longtime girlfriend and sitcom costar who’s “upped her cooking game quite a bit” since they began dating.

In real life, Linn is a talented chef, who takes his duties as a chili cook-off judge pretty seriously. And on NBC’s Happy’s Place, Linn plays the tavern’s short-order cook, who’s a “man of few words,” as he told TODAY. “I think Emmett kind of navigates the ship from the kitchen,” Linn said of his bandana-clad role. And that character has a unique and impressive approach to chopping vegetables.

In summer 2024, whole cucumber salads had taken over TikTok after content creator Logan Moffit started sharing his recipes, effortlessly slicing up the whole thing with a mandolin. Linn was inspired to recreate the salad, exactly as his Happy’s Place character Emmett would.

“Sometimes you need to eat an entire cucumber. Let me show you the best way to do it,” Linn, rocking a bandana and apron, said in a TikTok video. “First, you’re gonna want to slice up your cucumber, probably with a mandolin. That ain’t happening today.”

Linn then tore up the whole cucumber into several pieces with only his hands. “You just gotta really get into it,” he said while breaking up the veggie.

“Now it’s time to make it exciting,” Linn told his viewers after placing his aggressively sliced-up cucumber in a bowl. He then added a bit of soy sauce, a little chili oil, rice vinegar, and sesame seeds. And, of course, a secret, flavorful ingredient. “A lot people call it MSG but this is MSNBC right here,” Linn quipped.

Once all his ingredients were in the bowl, Linn said that it was “time to shake it up, baby!” and then sang a little ditty as he mixed everything together.

To show off his final product, Linn stabbed a dressed cucumber chunk with a meat thermometer. “Boy, doesn’t that look good,” he gushed. “That’s how we do it at Happy’s Place. More specifically, that’s how Emmett does it at Happy’s Place.”

Reba McEntire says Rex Linn is a “better cook” than her IRL

While McEntire has tons of famous recipes — from a decadent pineapple upside-down cake to savory beer cheese — the country legend has admitted that Linn is “better” in the kitchen. “Rex and I get along in every aspect,” McEntire told Fox News Digital. “He’s a better cook than I am, so I like that, for sure.”

McEntire also shared in an interview with TV Insider that they enjoy creating meals together, but they do have much different cooking styles. “We cook together, but he’s the type that will find a recipe and cook for three days. I’m like, ‘What’s in the refrigerator?’ I just pile it all together,” McEntire said.

But those opposite approaches work “great” for Linn and McEntire’s relationship. “It’s great that we’re different like that,” the “Fancy” singer told Audible. “If I’m hungry really quick and he is too, I fix. And if we’ve got a little time, he cooks. So, it works out great.”

Linn and McEntire even showed off their culinary dynamic during a 2023 TODAY appearance when they whipped up some pecan-smoked beer can chicken tacos. After introducing The Voice Season 28 Coach as his “up-and-coming sous chef, Tater Tot McEntire,” Linn got his hands dirty as he seasoned and chopped up a chicken and then built some delicious tacos for the TODAY team.

“Reba, that Rex is a keeper,” Craig Melvin told the country icon. “He’s a keeper.”
