While many shows are debuting new seasons in September and October, Happy’s Place season 2 has been bumped to late fall. The hit comedy series starring Reba McEntire is scheduled to premiere its second season on NBC on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, with back-to-back episodes kicking off the night. The first episode will air at 8:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT, followed immediately by the second episode at 8:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. CT. After airing on NBC, each new episode will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.

Happy’s Place is a heartwarming comedy sitcom created by Julie Abbott and Kevin Abbott. McEntire takes on the role of Bobbie McAllister, a determined woman who unexpectedly inherits her late father’s tavern, Happy’s Place, in Knoxville, Tennessee, after his death. As Bobbie strives to keep the family business afloat, she discovers that she has a half-sister, Isabella, who has shared ownership of the bar. The show then focuses on the evolving relationship between Bobbie and Isabella as they learn to work together despite their differences.

Joining McEntire in the cast as Isabella is Belissa Escobedo. Melissa Peterman, Rex Linn, Pablo Castelblanco, and Tokala Black Elk also star.

Fellow sophomore comedy St. Denis Medical is also set to return with its second installment in November. The exact premiere date is Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. Like Happy’s Place season 2, St. Denis Medical season 2 will premiere with back-to-back episodes, giving viewers a double dose of the workplace comedy to start off the new season. The first episode is set to air on NBC on Nov. 3 at 8/9c, followed immediately by the second episode at 8:30/9:30c.

Additionally, NBC has two promising new comedies in development for the 2025-26 season. They are The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, and the cheerleading comedy series Stumble, from Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will see Morgan portray a former football star who has fallen from the spotlight. The series will follow his journey to redeem himself and repair his public reputation.

Tim Allen Wasn’t Just Acting in The Santa Clause—He Was Playing Himself

When The Santa Clause hit theaters in 1994, audiences were charmed by Tim Allen’s transformation from cynical toy salesman to the jolly embodiment of Christmas spirit.

Tim Allen's 1994 The Santa Clause Movie Cut The Dark Original Way That Scott Calvin Became Santa (Thanks To Disney)

But what many viewers didn’t realize is that Allen wasn’t just portraying Scott Calvin—he was channeling his own life story.

At the time, Allen was best known as the sarcastic, tool-loving dad from Home Improvement.

His comedic persona revolved around being a flawed but lovable everyman—a theme that The Santa Clause leaned into heavily.

Tim Allen's 1994 The Santa Clause Movie Cut The Dark Original Way That Scott Calvin Became Santa (Thanks To Disney)

Scott Calvin starts off as a divorced father, skeptical of holiday magic, and more focused on his career than his kid.

Sound familiar? Allen himself had a troubled past, including a stint in prison before his rise to fame, and had navigated the complexities of fatherhood and fame simultaneously.

The film’s premise—an ordinary man accidentally becoming Santa Claus—mirrored Allen’s own unlikely journey to stardom.

Just as Scott Calvin stumbles into the role of Santa, Allen stumbled into Hollywood success after years of stand-up comedy and personal setbacks.

His comedic timing, dry wit, and reluctant charm weren’t just acting choices—they were extensions of his real personality.

Critics and fans alike have noted that Allen’s portrayal felt “effortless,” not because he was phoning it in, but because he was living it.

The role allowed him to blend humor with heart, sarcasm with sincerity—traits that defined both Scott Calvin and Tim Allen himself.

In hindsight, The Santa Clause wasn’t just a holiday classic.

It was a cinematic reflection of a man who, like his character, found redemption, purpose, and unexpected joy in the most magical way.

Reunion With Nancy Travis Sparks Nostalgia—But Shifting Gears Faces Harsh Reality Check”

Shifting Gears’ Last Man Standing Reunion Reveals The Harsh Truth About Tim Allen’s New Sitcom

Nancy Travis and Tim Allen in Shifting Gears

Warning: this article contains SPOILERS for Shifting Gears episode 6.Shifting Gears has continued expanding its Tim Allen shared universe, but the latest guest star highlights the sitcom’s most concerning issue. Shifting Gears follows Allen’s Matt, a widower who owns a car restoration shop and unexpectedly reconnects with his estranged daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings). Riley brings along her children, Carter (Maxwell Simkins) and Georgia (Barrett Margolis), who complete the oddball family. While Shifting Gears follows a classic sitcom formula, the end product has had mixed success. With Shifting Gears season 2 still unconfirmed, Tim Allen’s newest title needs to carefully evaluate its weaknesses as they come to light.

Although the sitcom has raked in impressive early ratings (likely due to Tim Allen headlining the Shifting Gears cast), the critical response has been less than favorable. Arguably the most recurring issue critics took with Shifting Gears was the main character himself, claiming that Tim Allen’s new character was indistinguishable from his past sitcom roles. Allen previously led Home Improvement as Tim Taylor and Last Man Standing as Mike Baxter, both extremely popular titles that leave Matt Parker with generational shoes to fill. Unfortunately, Shifting Gears’s latest Allen-verse callback only highlights its Matt problem.

Shifting Gears Episode 6 Reunites Tim Allen With Last Man Standing’s Nancy Travis

Allen And Travis Were Last Man Standing’s Main Couple

Tim Allen as Matt and Nancy Travis as Charlotte talking in Shifting Gears episode 6

Shifting Gears has included sporadic callbacks to Allen’s former work, like Mike Baxter’s truck appearing in Shifting Gears episode 3. The sitcom abandoned subtlety in Shifting Gears episode 6 by casting Nancy Travis as Charlotte, a widow who encourages Matt to be open to future romances. From 2011 to 2021, Nancy Travis played Tim Allen’s wife (Vanessa Baxter) in Last Man Standing. With Shifting Gears marking Allen’s first network television role following Last Man Standing’s finale, it makes sense to include major co-stars from past hits. However, the mere presence of Travis underscores the difficulty of Shifting Gears maintaining originality.

At first glance, Travis appearance is a fitting sendoff to Last Man Standing, with Charlotte helping Matt move on symbolically synchronized with Allen moving on from previous sitcoms with Shifting Gears. As Vanessa, Travis played Allen’s wife. As Charlotte, Travis played a character who helped Allen move on from his wife. Sadly, the casting distracted more than it aided, as seeing Travis and Allen interact on screen instantly diluted Shifting Gears episode 6 into a Last Man Standing reunion. Charlotte’s last line in the episode only pours salt in the wound.

Charlotte’s Joke About Matt Being Too Similar To His Ex Highlights How Similar Tim Allen’s Characters Are

    Matt Hasn’t Stood Out Enough

Despite Charlotte consistently urging Matt to return to the dating pool in Shifting Gears episode 6, she clarifies they can’t pursue a relationship with each other. Charlotte says Matt reminds her too much of “the last man [she] was with,” an obvious nod to Travis and Allen’s history on Last Man Standing. While a clever acknowledgment of the elephant in the room, the truth behind the statement is cause for concern. The poor initial reviews for Shifting Gears can easily be summarized in a simple phrase: Shifting Gears follows a Tim Allen character, not a character played by Tim Allen.

Shifting Gears failing to set itself apart from Tim Allen’s past sitcoms could be a death sentence.

Shifting Gears has backed itself into a corner with the frequent Tim Allen references, withholding the freedom that the sitcom needs to develop its own identity. It’s entirely possible that a significant portion of the audience didn’t expect anything groundbreaking from the Shifting Gears premiere, but if the comedy wants a chance at longevity, it needs to find what makes it unique. In a world where titles like Abbott Elementary are redefining genres and High Potential is fundamentally changing the lead actor’s imageShifting Gears failing to set itself apart from Tim Allen’s past sitcoms could be a death sentence.

How Shifting Gears Can Make Matt Parker Unique From Mike Baxter (& Tim Taylor)

The Sitcom Needs To Find Its Footing

Tim Allen as Matt, looking worried, and deep in thought, in Shifting Gears

While the continual nods to Last Man StandingHome Improvement, and even The Santa Clause are good for a quick laugh, Shifting Gears needs to build a foundation for itself before inviting further comparison to Allen’s old hits. Despite Matt’s character reading similar to both Mike and Tim, Shifting Gears already has a few key distinctions that can help solidify a unique presence— if the sitcom just lets it. The introduction of Matt’s dramatic grief storyline in Shifting Gears episode 4 perfectly displays how there are original aspects that just need to be elaborated on, independent of scene-stealing references.

Having emotional storylines helps to humanize characters, but Matt’s grief in Shifting Gears additionally helps him stand out. The more time Shifting Gears spends on exploring Matt as a character, the less he will pale in comparison to the decades-long reign of Mike Baxter and Tim Taylor. Though it may disappoint some, Shifting Gears needs to dial back its Allen callbacks. Unless the sitcom gives its characters time to cement themselves, Shifting Gears risks permanently living in the shadow of Tim Allen’s past roles, dooming the comedy and the rest of the cast in the process.

Everybody Loves Raymond Fans Treated to Rare Clip with Unseen Camera Angle.

Fans of Everybody Loves Raymond just got an unexpected gift—a newly surfaced clip from the classic “Christmas Present” episode that reveals a rare camera angle and a moment that never aired on television. The clip offers a fresh perspective from the kitchen looking into the living room, a view that was never shown in the final broadcast version.

What makes this discovery even more delightful is the scene itself: Debra’s hilarious realization that she accidentally bought Ray a VCR for Christmas. Her reaction is pure comedic gold, capturing the kind of relatable, awkward moment that made the show so beloved.

As far as anyone knows, this portion of the final scene was cut before airing, likely due to time constraints. But now, fans can enjoy this hidden gem that adds a new layer of humor and charm to an already iconic episode.

It’s a reminder that even decades later, Everybody Loves Raymond still has surprises up its sleeve—and they’re just as funny as ever.

Can you name this episode? It’s one of the best Christmas stories!

Everybody Loves Raymond Fans Get a Surprise: Lost Scene from “Christmas Present” Episode Unearthed

Mystery solved! A newly surfaced clip from the beloved Everybody Loves Raymond episode “Christmas Present” has revealed a never-before-seen exchange between Ray and Debra—one that never made it to air.

Why 'Everybody Loves Raymond' (1996-2005)… | Express Elevator to Hell

The clip, posted yesterday, sent longtime fans into a frenzy, as it features a heartfelt moment that was originally scripted but ultimately cut from the televised version.

So why was it missing? The answer lies in the tight constraints of network television.

Có thể là hình ảnh về cuống vé và văn bản

Every episode of Raymond had to be delivered at exactly 22 minutes.

Once the final edit was assembled, it wasn’t uncommon to hear the post-production team say, “We’re four minutes over.” That meant editor Pat and producer Phil had the tough job of trimming scenes—sometimes even ones that added emotional depth or comedic nuance.

Có thể là hình ảnh về văn bản cho biết 'EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND 11/13/00 "Christmas Present" SHOOTING SCRIPT 38. This particular snippet, featuring Ray and Debra in a quiet holiday moment, appears to be one of those casualties.

While it’s unclear exactly why this scene was chosen for the chopping block, the most likely reason is simple: time. With only minutes to spare, even meaningful exchanges had to be sacrificed to meet the broadcast deadline.

Now, thanks to the resurfaced script and clip, fans can finally enjoy the moment that almost slipped through the cracks.

It’s a reminder of how much great content lives just beyond the frame—and how even the smallest scenes can leave a lasting impression.

‘Home Improvement’ Cast Reunites on Tim Allen’s New Sitcom in a Surprise TikTok

The hit sitcom first aired back in 1991 and wrapped filming after 8 seasons.

In a surprise TikTok, Tim Allen welcomes his Home Improvement co-stars on set of his new sitcom, Shifting Gears.
Richardson, Karn, and Dunning will guest star in the Season 2 premiere of Shifting Gears, airing October 1 on ABC.
While their roles are still under wraps, fans are thrilled to see the gang back together in this nostalgic nod to the ’90s sitcom.

Well folks, it finally happened…kind of. Fans of the beloved ’90s sitcom Home Improvement got a jolt of nostalgia this week when Tim Allen dropped a surprise TikTok that reunited some very familiar faces.

Expecting to return to their old sitcom, Tim Allen makes a special appearance and quickly calls them over to the correct door before guiding them to the Shifting Gears stage instead. The real treat? This wasn’t just a fun behind-the-scenes prank. The trio will officially appear on the Shifting Gears Season 2 premiere, airing Wednesday, October 1 on ABC. While the network is keeping the details of their characters tightly under wraps, Deadline reports that they’ll be supporting Allen’s new character, Matt Parker, “in an unexpected way.”

The social media post quickly garnered tons of attention and had fans flocking to the comments section in excitement. “I love this!!!! bring back home improvement!!!” wrote one fan. “Oh I just love this. Home Improvement was my childhood ☺️,” said another person who remembers the show fondly. Some people even called out how Debbe Dunning and Richard Karn seemed to have not aged a bit since the ’90s. One person jokingly wrote, “Is Debbe Dunning a vampire…?????…”

As a little refresher for those who aren’t familiar with Home Improvement, the sitcom ran for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999. Tim Allen played Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, a husband, father of three, and TV personality whose attempts at DIY often didn’t go as planned. Luckily, his level-headed wife played by Patricia Richardson was always there to lend a helping hand. Richard Karn played Al, Tim’s flannel-wearing co-host and Debbe Dunning joined later as the tool-savvy Heidi.

In Shifting Gears, Allen trades in power tools for auto parts as Matt Parker, a widowed owner of a vintage car restoration shop. He’s thrown for a loop when his estranged daughter, Riley (played by Kat Dennings), moves in with her two kids.

It may not be a full-fledged Home Improvement reboot, but this surprise reunion is a sweet nod to the past and a fun, full-circle moment for longtime fans. And who knows? With Allen behind the wheel, anything’s possible.

There’s some great news for Happy’s Place fans. NBC has decided the future of the series, and it comes with renewal news!

If you wait until a confirmed renewal before you invest in a show, I get it. So many shows are canceled abruptly, and it’s hard to give a series a chance. The problem is if you don’t watch it from the beginning, you’re part of the reason why a show is canceled! A lot of people do this, and it leads to shows getting unfairly canceled.

The good news for Happy’s Place fans is people showed up! NBC has given this show a second season.

Happy’s Place season 2 is officially happening

Deadline confirmed the renewal with some updates on the viewership. Like fellow freshman comedy series St. Denis Medical, people have quickly shown up in support of this comedy series. Happy’s Place has improved the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Fridays by 54% according to the publication!

In fact, the bar-set comedy series is the No. 2 comedy series on Peacock. The only show ahead of it is St. Denis Medical, which has already been renewed for a second season. A total of 17.6 million people have watched the pilot episode across all platforms, which puts it up 338% since its initial airing on Friday, Oct. 18.

Let’s face it; Friday night is not the death night as long as the right show is on the air. Bones, SupernaturalBlue Bloods, and now Happy’s Place have proved that!

When will Happy’s Place season 2 premiere?

So, now eyes are on when we’ll get to see the series return. There are still episodes of season 1 airing, and this show was picked up for a full-season order after its initial successful run.

We’re sure to see Happy’s Place season 2 premiere in the fall, and I would love to see it remain on Friday nights. Starting the night off with comedy is a breath of fresh air! We’ll know more in May.

The Voice coaches might be spinning their chairs, but the auditioning artists are bringing season 28 full circle.

In a set visit to The VoiceEntertainment Weekly gets a glimpse at what’s in store when the series returns to primetime this fall. Season 28 sees a new class of talent ushered in by the recording artists who once inspired them.

During the Blind Auditions round of the show, this season’s contestants don’t shy away from sharing the personal impact of returning coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg.

For one thing, the child of a pastor shares how they used Snoop’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” to spread the word of God in South Africa. Meanwhile, a longtime One Direction fan reveals their staggering familiarity with Horan — down to the placement of his birthmarks.

But the artist-coach connections don’t stop there. After a hopeful artist with chair turns from all four coaches reveals that one of the first songs they learned is by Bublé, the coach joins them on stage for an impromptu duet of “Haven’t Met You Yet.”

“It’s always such an honor,” Bublé says of hearing The Voice contestants reveal how his artistry has encouraged them. “It’s a trip. I’m just Michael Bublé, you know? I worked on a fishing boat for years. I thought I was following my father’s and his dad’s and his dad’s [footsteps]. That’s what I thought my path was, so the fact that I’m doing this is unbelievable.”

While coaching on The Voice puts veteran artists in the unenviable position of making or breaking contestants’ dreams, Bublé shares how hearing “no” on his own climb to the top has provided wisdom in guiding these hopeful competitors with empathy.

“I try to be as honest as I can in telling them [if] they should come back and try again.” Bublé tells Entertainment Weekly. “Sometimes The Voice isn’t for them. It may not feel great and it may not be the easiest day, but their road is gonna come to fruition. Their dream will come true.”

Horan, who previously coached on seasons 23 and 24, knows the winding roads of performing on singing competition shows all too well. After first being introduced to the world in 2010 as an auditioning solo artist on the X-Factor UK, he was devastated to be sent home from training camp until — by the grace of Nicole Scherzinger – One Direction was formed, and he ultimately came in third place as part of the boy band in the live finale.

“I look at a kid like Niall who literally came from this, and his level of empathy is deep. He sees himself,” Bublé says. “We all see ourselves in those artists.”

Bublé continues, “I’ve been very lucky. My dream came true and it’s the greatest job in the world, the fact that I get to be a small part of helping them find that fulfillment in having a career.”

The Grammy-winning singer’s strategy seems to be working so far, as the last two Voice seasons concluded with his team members, Sofronio Vasquez and Adam David, emerging victorious.

Perhaps he just hasn’t met this season’s winner … yet.

The Voice season 28 premieres Monday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, on NBC.

Snoop Dogg got into some piping-hot water ahead of The Voice Season 28 after he criticized LGBTQ+ representation in movies after bringing his grandson to see Lightyear. His comments, which he’s now apologizing for, could have an irreparable impact on how he is perceived as a coach on The Voice who has featured LGBTQ+ singers.

The point of The Voice is for contestants to work closely with celebrity coaches to grow their careers. But mentorship only works if it’s free of prejudice. That’s where Snoop’s role in Season 28 becomes complicated. On the one hand, he publicly supported the LGBTQ+ community, even championing our singer, Jeremy Beloate, all the way to the finals. On the other hand, his personal beliefs raise the question: how can someone in good faith choose him as a coach if his support doesn’t extend to everyone equally?

Snoop Dogg’s ‘Lightyear’ Comments Went Viral

Snoop Dogg and Jeremy Beloate take the stage together on 'The Voice' Season 26 finale.

While speaking with host Sarah Fontenot on It’s Giving, Snoop revealed that he was now “scared to go to the movies” due to the increasing LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films. “They’re like, ‘She had a baby — with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie, is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’” he shared. “Oh sh–, I didn’t come in for this sh–. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.’” The rap mogul was roasted the minute the comments surfaced on social media.

Though the Blind Auditions have already been filmed, it’s unlikely that many artists will change their stance should they end up on Team Snoop. It could, once the next round is filmed, deter other artists from joining his team if given the option. When the teams are revealed, some contestants may choose to address the issue directly—or even offer Snoop a different perspective. Queer representation has only continued to grow in recent years, with diverse stories creating a haven for many viewers. Still, Snoop’s inclusion could spark criticism from parts of the LGBTQ+ community. While fellow coaches Niall HoranMichael Bublé, and Reba McEntire haven’t weighed in, the controversy could have ripple effects across the season.

Snoop Dogg Helped a Gay Artist Get to the Finals

Without a doubt, Snoop was an excellent new presence on The Voice, advocating showmanship and performance ahead of musical technique. Having coached a gay artist to the finals, becoming the odd-couple pairing of the season, it begs whether other out artists could feel supported by someone who has made disparaging comments about their community in the past.

Before the finale, Beloate shared, “I think the show exists in a way to really try and make everybody visible and get to share who they are and embraces that. The coaches couldn’t be more amazing about that, too.” This now contradicts the Snoop who has been exposed. Beloate, who was vocal about being bullied for his sexuality, worked with someone whose beliefs might cause similar torment for other queer children. Visibility on The Voice has been few and far between as the first out winner was Asher HaVon of Season 25, one season before Snoop’s arrival.

Snoop Dogg Was Put On Blast Following His Comments

Snoop Dogg makes a decision on 'The Voice' Season 26.

Lightyear screenwriter Lauren Gunderson defended the decision to include the lesbian characters in the film. On her Instagram, she wrote in part, “A key character needed a partner, and it was so natural to write ‘she’ instead of ‘he.’ As small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it. I’m proud of it. To infinity. Love is love.”

An apparent apology from Snoop’s verified account beneath the Hollywood Unlocked Instagram clip of TS Madison‘s TMZ Live rebuttal, has since been alleged to be fake, according to Deadline. Snoop was also called out on social media, questioning how he would explain his criminal past to his grandsons and his neglect of his recurring role on The L Word in 2004.

The Voice returns on Monday, September 22 at 8:00 p.m. on NBC. All episodes are available to stream on Peacock.
