Blake Shelton Distances Himself From Gwen–Reba Feud—Insiders Say He Wants No Involvement

Blake Shelton Allegedly Wants No Part in Gwen Stefani’s Feud With This Star

Blake Shelton is allegedly finding himself caught in the middle of Gwen Stefani‘s rumored feud with one of his close friends in the industry. Shelton, 47, and Stefani, 53, are one of the music industry’s most solid and beloved couples but a source claims that things are slightly fractured behind the scenes in recent months.

Blake Shelton và Gwen Stefani tại Lễ trao giải Âm nhạc CMT 2023 được tổ chức tại Moody Center vào ngày 2 tháng 4 năm 2023 ở Austin, Texas.

Stefani has reportedly been going head-to-head with Reba McEntire, who joined The Voice as a judge in the latest season of the show — which is set to air on September 23. McEntire, 68, is taking Shelton’s place after his exit from the show last season and sources say Stefani didn’t take a liking to her husband’s replacement.

“They taped the blind auditions and battle rounds in July, and you could tell Gwen was less than thrilled playing second fiddle to Reba,” a source told the National Enquirer, per Radar Online. Shelton reportedly wants no part in the brewing feud due to his close friendship with the “Does He Love You” singer.

“Reba has a very outgoing personality and can suck the air out of a room,” the insider continued. “Gwen doesn’t feel like she has a chance to shine the way she wants.”

“Blake worships the ground Reba walks on,” said a source. The two musicians both hail from Oklahoma and even played siblings on McEntire’s TV sitcom Malibu Country. “She’s been such a career inspiration for him.” Recent reports also suggested Shelton and Stefani had a falling out over her friendship with his tour mate, Carly Pearce.

“In most cases, Blake goes out of his way to not ruffle Gwen’s feathers,” the insider said. “But he’s told her he isn’t going to stand for her to be anything less than polite and kind to Reba or she’s gong to be living in a house of discontent.”

We’ll have to wait until The Voice airs to find out if the alleged feud between Stefani and McEntire is real or if it’s just another case of the media pitting women against each other. What we do know is, Shelton is most definitely supportive of his replacement.

“Well, there’s a couple of things about Reba that makes her so special. First of all, she’s just so authentic,” he said of McEntire in a May interview with Extra. “I don’t know anybody country, or on the planet, [who is more authentic than] Reba, and that’s just the truth, but the other thing is her talent. … She was born with this raw, natural talent that’s just unbelievable.”

Adam Levine has been trying to rebuild his image after the songwriter’s cheating scandal broke in September.

On Friday, March 25, during Maroon 5’s Las Vegas residency show, the father-of-three took some time to pay tribute to his wife and kids.

“[I] used to for myself, and now I do this for them,” the front man said to the crowd at the Park MGM’s Dolby Live theater.

In his remarks, he referred to wife, Behati Prinsloo, as well as children — Dusty Rose, 6, Gio Grace, 5, and the couple’s newborn whose name has yet to be released.

This adorable mention came months after the star was outed for sending many flirty and sexual DMs to multiple women.

The news first broke when model and influencer Sumner Stroh uploaded a TikTok explaining the series of incriminating messages she received from Levine — later two other women came out with their evidence against the musician.

Following these claims, the “Payphone” singer denied having an affair with these women, but did admit he “crossed the line” over DM.

Levine wrote on his Instagram Story at the time, saying, “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner.”

About a month after the women came forward, Prinsloo reportedly said she would give her husband a second chance if he proved his worth.

As OK! previously reported, a source revealed that the couple’s relationship is back on track.

“Adam has done a complete turnaround in how he handles his marriage,” an insider spilled on Thursday, March 23.

“He basically recommitted himself 100 percent to Behati and his family,” the source continued, adding Levine “realized he made a huge mistake.”

“Adam also got back to basics [doing] yoga and meditation, and just got his priorities straight,” they said of the tattooed vocalist.

The insider then claimed that the pair have been making an effort to do more things together.

“They’re spending more quality time together, date nights without the kids and girls only nights for Behati,” which the source attests as to why fans have been “seeing them out and about more.”

Reba McEntire’s Sparkly New Accessory on The Voice Has a Mysterious Message

Does the Queen of Country have a secret style weapon for Season 28?

Season 28 teaser for The Voice features Reba McEntire in a new fashion accessory with a mysterious message.

The video, shared in May to coincide with the announcement of which Coaches would return in Season 28, includes a quick shot of the Queen of Country wearing a sparkly red sash and hitting her Voice button. The sash says something, but it can’t be read in full. Upon closer inspection, it appears to read “Voice Winner,” but it’s impossible to tell for sure. Fans will have to wait and see if McEntire wears the sash during Season 28 to get confirmation.

Here’s hoping she does, because the glitzy sash is such a fun style choice. It’s the perfect way to commemorate McEntire’s epic Season 25 win with Asher HaVon — and perhaps a way for her to manifest a win this season. Will McEntire use this sash to remind Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Michael Bublé just who’s in charge in Season 28? The Voice returns this fall on NBC; maybe this sash is her new secret weapon!

It was a rehearsal for the battle rounds, with Jennifer Hudson filling in for her. Like Clarkson, Hudson is a former American Idol contestant and Voice coach who has a popular daytime talk show.

Shifting Gears Season 2: Confirmation, Cast & Everything We Know

A composite image of Tim Allen smiling in front of Allen and Kat Dennings by a car in Shifting Gears

ABC’s uproarious new sitcom Shifting Gears features TV legend Tim Allen in one of its lead roles, and now the father-daughter comedy has been renewed for season 2. Debuting in the early days of 2025, the series follows a widower named Matt (Allen) who reunites with his estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her two kids when she hits the end of her rope and needs somewhere to stay. While the pair try to work out their differences, Riley attempts to figure out what she’s going to do with her life, and Matt must adjust to his new living situation.

While it might be getting generally bad reviews, Shifting Gears has one big thing going for it, that being the TV starpower of Tim Allen. The Toy Story and The Santa Clause star has rarely missed in his TV ventures, with long-running sitcoms like Home Improvement and Last Man Standing being the comic actor’s true wheelhouse. Though there was speculation that the series might get axed after only one season, ABC instead opted to renew the sitcom for season 2. The upcoming sophomore season will be Shifting Gear‘s biggest test, and it will make or break the show.

ABC Renews Shifting Gears After Troubling Reports

Just a few days after it was announced that the show was on the bubble, the latest news confirms that Shifting Gears has been renewed for season 2. Troubling reports surfaced in late March that indicated Shifting Gears had seen a sharp decline in ratings across the 10 episodes of season 1. Despite this, ABC opted to pick up another season, and renewed Shifting Gears alongside Grey’s Anatomy9-1-1The Rookie, and Will Trent. No further details are known about season 2 yet, but information will likely come soon.

Shifting Gears premiered with to 6.10 million viewers (via Programming Insider) but dropped to 3.77 by episode 10 (via Programming Insider).

Shifting Gears Season 2 Is Confirmed

A Second Gear For Shifting Gears

Tim Allen as Matt, looking worried, and deep in thought, in Shifting Gears

If ratings continue to slide into season 2, the series likely won’t be around for season 3.

Though Shifting Gears got off to a blazing hot start, it became clear as season 1 wore on that ratings were dipping considerably. However, ABC opted to renew the show in April 2025, and green-lit the Tim Allen comedy for a second season. This renewal is a good sign that the show can recover, but it’s clear that ABC will be keeping a close eye on Shifting Gears in season 2 to make sure their investment was worthwhile. If ratings continue to slide into season 2, the series likely won’t be around for season 3.

No production information is known at this time, but it can be assumed that ABC is aiming to have the show air in the midseason slotShifting Gears wasn’t part of the network’s fall slate, and based on the ratings, it would make sense to leave it for January or February 2026. Midseason shows are an important part of any network’s yearly success, and Shifting Gears just doesn’t have the momentum to take a fall schedule slot from one of ABC’s bigger series just yet. However, Tim Allen’s shows almost always succeed, and season 2 might be where Shifting Gears picks up steam.

Shifting Gears Season 2 Cast Details

Expect The Main Ensemble To Return

Since sitcoms often rely on a familiar ensemble from season to season, it’s expected that the main cast of Shifting Gears will return to reprise their roles in season 2. Leading the show as its star (and principal draw), Tim Allen will certainly return as widower and auto mechanic shop owner Matt Parker. Coming back to play Matt’s adult daughter Riley, MCU and Two Broke Girls star Kat Dennings will undoubtedly be back. Jenna Elfman joined the series as dance instructor, Eve, and she’ll likely be back so that she can continue her relationship with Matt.

Meanwhile, it’s almost certain that Sean William Scott will be on hand to once again play Gabriel, a close family friend of Matt and Riley’s who works for Matt’s shop. His affection for Riley was a poorly-kept secret in season 1, and their will-they-won’t-they could continue into season 2 as well. Daryl “Chill” Mitchell adds to the supporting cast as Matt’s longtime employee and right-hand-man, Stitch, while youngsters Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis play Riley’s kids, Carter and Georgia, respectively.

The series will likely follow in the footsteps of other sitcoms and employ a wide range of guest stars from week to week, but it’s unclear which of those could stick around. Often, sitcom guests become full-fledged supporting characters over the long run, but it’s too early in the show’s run to speculate.

The cast of Shifting Gears season 2 will probably include:

Shifting Gears Season 2 Story Details

    More Generational Clashes Are Expected

Georgia (Barrett Margolis), Matt (Tim Allen), and Carter (Maxwell Simkins) playing video games in Shifting Gears.

Shifting Gears is hardly the most groundbreaking sitcom of all time, and with that in mind, it will likely continue to deal with familiar themes and ideas going forward. The heart of the story is the slowly growing relationship between Matt and Riley, but the two still have a long way to go before they can fully heal from 15 years of separation. On top of that, they’re both dealing with their own grief as they separately try to cope with the loss of Matt’s wife (Riley’s mom). While this could be the thing that ultimately brings them together, it could be another wedge as well.

Season 1’s finale saw Riley continuing to struggle with her purpose in life, though she made major strides throughout the 10 episodes. Instead of running back to her husband Jimmy when he deigned to show up again, she asked him for a divorce. This could continue to play out across season 2, especially with Gabe’s affection for Riley becoming public knowledge. Throughout all that, Matt and Riley’s relationship took a big step when he told her he trusted her to make the right decision, instead of instantly judging her.

On the topic of burgeoning romances, Matt and Eve finally locked lips in the season 1 finale, and they will probably continue to be an item going forward. Riley learned that Gabe carried a torch for her, but he rejected her kiss when she was too drunk to properly consent. While this might stall their eventual romance for a while, it helps build it on a solid foundation instead of compulsive decisions. Shifting Gears season 2 has a lot to work with, and it could be where the show really takes off.

Tim Allen Has Some Sad News for ‘Shifting Gears’ Fans as Actor Hints at Retirement

Custom image from Jefferson Chacon of Tim Allen smiling and looking off to the left for Shifting Gears

Tim Allen is no stranger to charming audiences via that evergreen genre of situation comedies, or sitcoms as we like to say. But even though his latest series, Shifting Gears, is already a ratings smash for ABC, Allen is thinking ahead and shifting gears himself, from full speed ahead, to parking the acting car.

At 71, Allen has built a legendary career in TV comedy, leading three long-running sitcoms that have dominated network primetime — Home Improvement, Last Man Standing, and now Shifting Gears. But despite comparisons to TV’s GOATs—one person even likened him to “the Tom Brady of sitcoms”—Allen knows nothing lasts forever.

This probably will be the end of it,” Allen revealed to USA Today. “That sounds depressing, but I did (Shifting Gears) because it seemed like a good idea that would be fun. That’s really it.

Allen added that he felt at home in on a set and in front of the lights, and that the idea of giving it up hurt him, but he also admitted that time was running out for him to continue performing at the level to which he, and by extension, the audience, have grown accustomed.

“I just love being around the camera people and actors and the crew, so much so that I’m more uncomfortable at the thought of leaving the set and, God forbid, going to play golf.”

    What is ‘Shifting Gears’ About?

Tim Allen Talks Returning To The World Of Sitcoms In Shifting Gears
Shifting Gears finds Allen playing Matt Parker, an old-school auto restoration shop owner and widowed father struggling to adjust when his daughter Riley (2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings) moves back home with her kids. The cast also includes American Pie’s Seann William Scott and Galaxy Quest’s Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Parker’s shop crew and, for Allen, it feels like this is the final evolution of the TV persona he’s been shaping for decades.

This is getting closer and closer to the guy you see at my stand-up shows now,” he explained. “‘Home Improvement’ was literally just my stand-up show, where Last Man Standing reflected the fact that I had daughters and I wanted a lead guy who was smarter than Tim Taylor. So this new guy now, Matt Parker, he’s more of what I really am.”

Past episodes of Shifting Gears are available to stream on Disney+. New episodes air Wednesdays on ABC. Stay with Collider for the latest updates on Tim Allen and Shifting Gears.

Christopher Rich Opens Up About Life After Stroke and Reuniting With Reba in Happy’s Place

Reba’s Christopher Rich Calls Happy’s Place Gig a ‘Blessing’ After 2018 Stroke: ‘I Was With My Two Best Friends’

The Feb. 21 episode of Happy’s Place will be heavy on Hart. That’s because Christopher Rich, who played Brock Hart on the WB classic Reba, is reuniting with Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman on NBC‘s freshman comedy, marking one of his first on-screen roles since he suffered a debilitating stroke in 2018.

TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek introduces Rich’s character, Maverick, a local tattoo artist who also had a stroke, and only has complete use of one hand. He doesn’t let that damper his spirits, though: In the episode, we learn that Maverick likes to tease new clients about which hand he’s going to use when he works on their tattoos.

Below, Rich talks to TVLine about what it was like to be back in front of a studio audience with two of his “best friends,” why he was so thrilled to have his condition written into the episode, and the circumstances under which he’d like to reprise his Maverick role in a hypothetical Season 2.

TVLINE | This week marks 18 years since the series finale of Reba. Does it feel like it has been that long?
In some ways, yes, but mostly it feels like it was just yesterday. I mean, that’s my love. That’s the best set I ever worked on. And I worked on some cool sets, with Murphy Brown and Boston Legal, but that was the best set by far, and Happy’s Place is just like that set. It’s a clone of the Reba set.

TVLINE | How did it feel to be back in front of a studio audience, opposite Reba and Melissa, after all this time?
It was a time warp. It was like going back in time. Their characters are so similar — Reba to Bobbie, and Barbara Jean to Gabby, though now they’re finding the differences, I think, in Gabby and Barbara Jean. But I was with two of my best friends, getting to act — what’s bad about that? They’re there supporting me, encouraging me… it was a blessing. Melissa is still so funny, and when she looks at you with those penetrating blue eyes, it almost knocks your head back a little bit. She’s a piece of work!

TVLINE | That line, where she asks if you’ve got a wife she can steal you away from…
That’s an Easter egg for the Reba fans!
'Reba' Reunion on 'Happy's Place' - Reba McEntire, Melissa Peterman and Christopher Rich in Season 1, Episode 15Casey Durkin/NBC
TVLINE | You play a tattoo artist named Maverick. Can you relate to this guy?
Totally, I can relate to him. He’s a jokester, he likes to torture new customers a little bit because he knows they’re going to freak out about his stroke. He has fun, but he’s a very talented artist. He’s a little bit of a flirt, too.

TVLINE | Only in preparing for this interview did I learn that you also suffered a stroke a few years ago. How are you feeling now?
I’m feeling reborn, frankly, particularly after this experience [on Happy’s Place]. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it again — that that magic thing in my brain had been destroyed with the stroke. But no, it was right there. I really do feel like I’m ready to just hit it back again, and go do some more fun stuff. I love working.

TVLINE | What was it like to get to play a character who has been through a similar health scare, and getting to find the humor in that experience?
It was very special to me. And kudos go out to the producers, to the writers, for adding that element to it. I was more than willing to come on the show and play a character without referencing the stroke, but they said, “You know, we think we can take advantage of it, maybe get a little comedy out of it. Do you mind if we use it?” And I said, “Please, please use it. Please put it out there that people have strokes, and we are still a part of society.” I’d like for that to become my main thing: getting stroke patients back to work and getting them more acceptance. Yes, it blew up a part of my brain, but I’m still out there, and we can have fun together, and I can still work, I can memorize lines….
'Reba' Reunion on 'Happy's Place' - Reba McEntire, Melissa Peterman and Christopher Rich in Season 1, Episode 15Casey Durkin/NBC
TVLINE | It must have been a thrill to hear the studio audience erupt when you first entered the scene.
It was incredible, buddy. I mean, it really was just incredible. What a surge of emotion I went through. In fact, I wish you’d been there. You would have heard me thank the audience — thank them for sharing the experience with me, and how special and meaningful it was to me. It was a beautiful thing.

TVLINE | Not only are you working with Reba and Melissa, but you’re on another multi-cam helmed by Kevin Abbott that uses a lot of the same crew as Reba. That must’ve been a trip.
Those people are geniuses. Their track records are phenomenal, and you’re safe working with talent like that. Not many people have asked me about this, but one of my favorite directors from the beginning of my career [on Murphy Brown] is Pamela Fryman, and we got to have a little reunion [too]. That was really, really cool. She’s brilliant, and a real blessing for this show.

'Reba' Reunion on 'Happy's Place' - Reba McEntire, Melissa Peterman and Christopher Rich in Season 1, Episode 15Casey Durkin/NBC
TVLINE | Gabby clearly takes a liking to Maverick. In the event of a Season 2, how would you feel about coming back as a love interest for Melissa?
I would love that. I would love it. Love it, love it. There’s nothing more delightful than being on that set with my friends, best place in the world.

TVLINE | Steve Howey has already been on Happy’s Place, and I know they’re trying to find a part for JoAnna Garcia Swisher, but it would be great to see the whole gang together again….
Once they see all three of us having worked in three good episodes, maybe somebody will say, “Hey, listen, we can do a streaming movie, get the Hart family together again.” We could do a great Christmas movie, a great summer vacation movie… it’s a super talented cast.

TVLINE | Reba was a hit for The WB back in the day, but it has seen even greater success in syndication. Twenty-four years after it premiered, it still airs on multiple cable networks, multiple times per day. It’s also on several streaming services, including Netflix. Why do you think it has endured when so many sitcoms from that era have not?
Honestly, Ryan, I think it’s because at the center of that show was a solid heart. It was about a family that goes through a devastating thing and then has to navigate that, and it touched a lot of people. I’m very, very proud of that show, and I’m proud of the things that we dealt with on it. But I think one of the reasons it has lasted so long is because of COVID. When everybody locked down, people started streaming it, and I got so many messages about it. People were really grateful for that break in their daily routine that streaming Reba provided. I still watch it occasionally, and it’s funny. It’s timeless, and it’s a great show.

TVLINE | You went viral a couple of years ago, when fans spotted you and your former co-stars at a Reba concert, singing along to “I’m a Survivor.” They love seeing that you’re all still in each other’s lives after this time. How have you maintained those relationships?
While we were working on [Reba], I and other people on the crew frequently said to the cast, “Listen, guys, enjoy this, because this is not what it’s usually like. This is glorious. On other shows, usually a lot more personalities clash,” and we had none of that. I think the appreciation and love that we had for doing the show that way has lasted and kept a strong bond. I mean, we vacation together, we spend a lot of time together… [Reba’s boyfriend] Rex [Linn, who plays Emmett on Happy’s Place] and I are avid University of Texas football fans. Now, every Saturday in the fall, we force Reba to sit and watch college football with us. It’s the most fun thing you can imagine!

New episodes of Happy’s Place air Fridays at 8/7c on NBC (and stream next day on Peacock).

Why NBC’s Happy’s Place Had To End Reba McEntire’s 23-Year Sitcom Trope Explained By Producer

Happy’s Place will end Reba McEntire’s tired sitcom trope of 23 years, and the show’s producer, Kevin Abbott explains why. The Queen of Country Music will return on scripted network TV with a brand-new comedy this fall on NBC. The last time she was in this space was when she made an unexpected return as June in the Young Sheldon finale. While McEntire is not new to this format, having appeared in a number of sitcoms throughout the years, the story of Happy’s Place offers something new for the singer/actor.

Speaking with TV Insider, Abbott explains the reason behind setting Happy’s Place in a tavern as opposed to a family home. The producer has worked with McEntire before, also serving the same role in her famous sitcom, Reba. He also developed Malibu Country — McEntire’s shortlived comedy that followed. Having that connection, Abbott reveals that the shift in the environment is a conscious effort so they can do more adult storylines as compared to the old series.

It’s a pleasure to take everything that we have gone through in our lives, the growth that we’ve had, and continue to apply [that to stories]. It’s nice to do this at a tavern as opposed to [in] a family [setting] show because we’re both now at our stage where the kids are grown. It’s more interesting to us to do more adult stories — even though they are told for a family.

Can Happy’s Place Replicate The Success Of Reba?

Happy’s Place Is Very Different From McEntire’s Iconic Sitcom

McEntire’s Reba sitcom from the early 2000s made the singer a legend in the comedy space. In the show, she played the titular character who was on the heels of separating from her husband while also dealing with her teenage daughter getting married while pregnant. Throughout six seasons, she navigated her new life while also mysteriously maintaining a civil relationship with her ex-husband and extra-annoying new wife, Barbra Jean, played by Melissa Peterman. Reba was fun and family-friendly, and it remains a favorite in syndication and streaming services.

Happy’s Place being different may be a risk, but at this point, it’s best to offer something fresh to viewers rather than rehashing something that has been done before.

However, things are a bit different in McEntire’s new show. Happy’s Place will see Reba play Bobbie — the inheritor of her late father’s restaurant. What she doesn’t know is that she’ll have to run it with her half-sister who she didn’t know existed. Peterman is also part of the cast of Happy’s Place as Gabby, marking the pair’s small screen reunion. This time, the pair’s relationship is less complicated than the one they had in Reba. Add Abbott to the mix, and Happy’s Place has all the ingredients needed for success.

Admittedly, it’s still too early to say how it will be received. However, considering Malibu Country‘s failure, trying something new may be the key to McEntire’s successful comedy returnHappy’s Place being different may be a risk, but at this point, it’s best to offer something fresh to viewers rather than rehashing something that has been done before.
