Kelly Clarkson Reportedly Pausing ‘The Voice’ to ‘Heal’ After Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock’s Death

Kelly Clarkson Reportedly Pausing ‘The Voice’ to ‘Heal’ After Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock’s Death

Kelly Clarkson will be stepping away from The Voice as she grieves the loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

According to The U.S. Sun, Clarkson will miss several season 29 tapings later this month.

The NBC series is filming a revamped format titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, with Clarkson joined by fellow coaches John Legend and Adam Levine.

“Kelly will not be at the tapings scheduled next week for Thursday and Friday,” an insider explained.

They continued, “Production is working on a replacement coach for her now.”

    Prioritizing Family

Clarkson, 42, shares two children — River and Remington — with Blackstock.

As she takes time to mourn, the “Keeping Score” singer is also helping her kids transition into their new school year.

“Kelly, especially, needs a lot of time to heal,” the source added, noting that the show’s crew and producers are treating both Clarkson and Reba McEntire — Blackstock’s stepmother and a current The Voice coach — “like family.”

“They don’t owe the show anything right now. Whatever they want, the show will give them,” the insider continued.

    Reba McEntire Also Impacted

Because seasons 28 and 29 are filming simultaneously, Blackstock’s passing has affected both productions.

McEntire, who serves as a coach on Season 28 (premiering this fall), is also expected to miss some of her scheduled Knockout round tapings in the weeks ahead.

“She considered Brandon her son, not a stepson but her son,” the source said.

It’s unclear when McEntire will return to filming, though production is said to be “working around her schedule, not the other way around.”

    Brandon Blackstock’s Death

Blackstock died on Thursday, August 7, 2025, after a three-year battle with melanoma. He was 48.

The Silver Bow County coroner confirmed he died of natural causes at his home in Butte, Mont., surrounded by family.

In addition to his two children with Clarkson, Blackstock had two other children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage.

He and Clarkson married in 2013 before divorcing in 2022.

Famous Singers from The Voice, Then + Now

Ten years (and counting) made a huge difference for many of the most popular singers and stars of The Voice. Blake Shelton looks noticeably different, but so do some of country music’s most memorable performers.

Winners like Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery wore baby faces when they auditioned during their respective seasons. The same can be said for Morgan Wallen, a forgotten castmember from the show who’s transformed more than anyone else on this list of The Voice stars then and now.

The Voice season 28 coach is worried no one is going to want to be on their team

The Voice season 28 will see some familiar faces in the red chairs. Some of them haven’t been seen for a few rounds, and one in particular is worried about what that time off means for him. We’re not that worried, though, considering who he is.

It’s all about Niall Horan, who took some time off to go on tour. It’s an understandable reason to take a year out of The Voice. After all, he’s still young and he’s an active musician. That’s what makes his appearances on The Voice so great. Yet, he’s worried that he’ll get picked last.

    The Voice - Season 23

Niall Horan is worried nobody will pick him in The Voice

Horan took to The Voice’s official Instagram with fellow coach Michael Bublé. As Bublé made it clear that there was a coach coming back after taking a few seasons off, Horan fixed his hair in the mirror and then admitted his fears. He’s worried that taking a few cycles off will have caused him to lose his momentum, and he’s now worried that people won’t want to be on his team.

It’s an understandable reason, as there are plenty of contestants who come to the show to work with particular coaches. A lot of the time, it’s due to the style of voice, and the coaches want those contestants as well because they see a younger version of themselves in them.

Then there are others who want to work with particular coaches because they’re fans. And Horan certainly has plenty of people in that corner.

Niall Horan has been through it all before

The One Direction singer has something else to benefit from as well. He has the experience of going through these types of competitions. He auditioned on X Factor in the UK, originally as a solo artist. He joined with his bandmates when Simon Cowell realized that they had a better chance of winning together. Of course, Cowell was right, and One Direction went on to gain a huge following.

    The Voice - Season 24

Coming with that experience helps many others on The Voice. He, like Kelly Clarkson, can offer tips on handling the competition with empathy.

It’s not like Horan doesn’t come from experience in The Voice, either. In fact, he has only been on two seasons before, and he won on both of those seasons. That’s sure to end up meaning plenty of people want him to be their coach. He should be worried about whether he can make it three for three!

The Voice season 28 premieres on Monday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c on NBC.

CBS stars at risk as doubts grow over Gayle King’s future

It appears Stephen Colbert may not be the sole departure from CBS, as an insider has revealed the network is experiencing a sweeping transformation.

CBS axed The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last month, with the network declaring the program will conclude in May 2026. The network characterized the cancellation as “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop.”

Nevertheless, an insider has now revealed that new CBS News President Tom Cibrowski is orchestrating modifications to the Evening News broadcast. Cibrowski is reportedly preparing to eliminate one of the broadcast’s dual anchors – John Dickerson or Maurice DuBois.

An insider also indicated Cibrowski is planning to dismiss Evening News executive producer Guy Campanile during the restructuring. They informed Radar Online, “Guy thinks he knows better than Tom.”

Insiders suggested to the outlet the potential terminations represent Cibrowski’s effort to “secure his position,” reports the Mirror US.

    Stephen Colbert

Dickerson and DuBois aren’t the sole CBS personalities who have faced termination speculation lately. CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King is allegedly confronting an uncertain future at the network, with insiders claiming her program is battling to maintain viewer interest.

Current viewership figures have dropped beneath two million, while simultaneously experiencing substantial declines across key demographics. Insiders informed The New York Post that certain network executives are concerned the show has relied too extensively on “woke” programming.

    John Dickerson

The reshuffling at CBS has already led to the cancellation of the iconic late-night show hosted by Stephen Colbert. Upon announcing the news, CBS issued a statement saying, “‘THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT’ will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season.

“We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire the ‘THE LATE SHOW’ franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late-night television.”

The statement further read, “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show new season plans revealed after beloved host’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s sudden death

THE KELLY Clarkson Show’s new season plans have been revealed after the beloved host suffered the sudden loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

After the pop star announced the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency shows in August due to the family tragedy, many fans wondered if she would return for the premiere of her talk show in September.

According to a show insider, The Kelly Clarkson Show will be coming back as scheduled next season, despite the host dealing with tremendous grief.

“She is first and foremost present for her kids and processing the tragedy herself in many different layers but she has been in some meetings already.

“And she is looking forward to her show coming back. The show is coming back as scheduled next month, no changes are being made as of right now.

“Everything is moving along as previously planned before this. She needs a sense of normalcy and routine, and quite frankly needs the distraction,” the insider claimed.

The source continued to talk about Kelly’s children she shares with Brandon, River, 11, and Remington, 9: “She wants the same for her kids.

“Helping them navigate through this is her top priority. There’s no rule book or instruction book for it.

“She is trying her best but she’s struggling helping them cope to life without their dad. She’s putting on a brave face for everyone around her though, that’s for sure.

“For someone who is so emotional, she is so good at holding everything together and being strong for others. She’s an amazing mom.

“She is so hard on herself and feels like she’s not being good enough for her kids. It’s all very complicated.”

The show insider added that Kelly, 43, was handling the matter privately as most of the crew members were not privy to what was really going on behind the scenes with Brandon.

“People on her staff knew she had something going on with her husband. A select few knew he was sick, the rest suspected he was sick.

“But no one knew it was going to be so bad so quickly. It was a shock to everyone and I think Kelly herself that he passed away when he did.

“A lot of the staff had met him before, it’s a really difficult thing to process for everybody,” they said.

    TRAGIC END

On August 7th, Brandon’s former company, Starstruck Entertainment, announced that he had passed away at the age of 48 following a battle with melanoma cancer.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.

“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,

“He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.

“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” the company where Brandon served as a music manager for years stated.

While Kelly has already canceled several professional projects that were set to happen in August, such as her Las Vegas concerts and a Texas charity benefit, the September premiere of her talk show is seemingly still happening.

    PRIVATE BATTLE

Brandon, who became very private following his divorce from Kelly, 43, was rarely pictured in recent years.

After the couple’s separation in June 2020, Brandon left Los Angeles, where Kelly was currently residing to host her talk show, and moved to live a quieter life on his ranch in Montana.

The couple endured a drawn-out custody battle that turned nasty in court after Kelly filed for divorce in June of 2020.

Their divorce was finalized in 2022 and cost Kelly a fortune, including a one-time payment of $1.3 million, monthly child support of $45,601, as well as a monthly spousal support payment of $115,000.

However, Kelly was granted primary custody of their two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander with Brandon having visitation rights.

Joy, 82, takes to the airwaves every week alongside the likes of Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

The one-hour daily show is fronted by Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg.

However, the comedienne inadvertently revealed that The View will once again be taking a hiatus over summer.

Repeats of the show will air in its place on ABC as the six television personalities get a well-earned break.

The View is known for its political-based ‘hot topics’ discussions, and Joy wanted to once again make a point about President Trump.

But before she finished her point, she made the apparent blunder in announcing the hiatus in a seemingly premature fashion.

Speaking to Whoopi, she said: “And before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this.”

She then turned to executive producer Brian Teta who famously always graces the studio floor.

Speaking to him, Joy asked: “I’m allowed to say that right?”

However, Alyssa then jokingly intervened with a subtle dig as she exclaimed: “Too late now!”

The View’s Whoopi Goldberg smacks co-host Joy Behar on-air during inappropriate moment and yells ‘that was my breast!’
Joy then continued: “[But] before we go, I wanted to tell people that the tide is turning.”

The Daytime Emmy Award-winning personality added: “The tide is turning and things are changing.”

Fans of the show have been left angry in the past when The View has previously gone on its summer hiatus.

Usual viewers slammed the network move in 2022, especially after the hosts took turns being absent.

    The View hosts

The View is an American talk show airing on ABC from 11am-12pm EST, Monday through Friday. It features a diverse group of women that discuss the day’s “Hot Topics”, ranging from hard-hitting news to celebrity gossip. The six co-hosts include:

    Whoopi Goldberg
    Joy Behar
    Sunny Hostin
    Sara Haines
    Ana Navarro
    Alyssa Farah Griffin

There were also interruptions to several episodes due to special news reports.

Match Game fans have huge complaint over ‘missing’ part of new season as hit show returns

MATCH Game fans have issued a huge complaint over a ‘missing’ part of the new series as the hit game show returns.

On Wednesday night, Match Game made an epic comeback to television screens all over the country, with Hulu star Martin Short at the helm.

But fans were quick to make a major complaint about the program’s premiere, with many fuming over something they thought was “missing”.

Martin has expanded his relationship with Disney and is now hosting the hit game show after his Only Murders In The Building success.

Alec Baldwin previously hosted the revival of the 70s game show.

The game show was revived in 2016, after its original run in 1962.

Alec hosted the 2016 version, which ran until 2021 before it was canceled in 2022.

And now, with Martin at the helm and Alec gone, fans are airing their opinions

“Watching #MatchGame & I really miss & am disappointed that @AlecBaldwin is not the host anymore,” said one person on X.

They added, “I know it’s probably cause of the trial & what happened but can’t we get past that?

“He was the best host & I don’t know if I can still enjoy the show without him or not. Love you Alec.”

A second person then echoed, “I kinda miss Alec Baldwin and his Cool Wit but Martin Short is Hilarious to Watch! I Love when he Dances and his Physical Humor is unmatched.”

“They should have kept Alec. #MatchGame,” added a third.

While a fourth complained, “As a huge fan of match game I was very disappointed in the new version with Martin Short.

“The writing is terrible–they need more fun questions and true celebrities.

“Alec Baldwin’s version may have been raunchy but it was funny.”

The hit game show sees four contestants try to win $25,000 each week.

The contestants do this by trying to match celebrities’ answers in a game of fill-in-the-blank.

The panelists in the first episode are Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, Anthony Anderson, Ziwe, Kevin Nealon and BD Wong

People loved the chemistry between host Martin and panellist Selena.

Martin and Selena starred alongside one another in Only Murders In The Building, which is likely the reason for their bond.

One person swooned on Instagram, “Marty is a great host! Selena Gomez was one of the stars on it! She was so beautiful and brilliant!”

TV legend ‘turned down’ Who Wants to be a Millionaire? as show ‘struggles’ to book A-list contestants

A TV legend has turned down a spot on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? as the show ‘struggles’ to book A-list contestants, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

Fans have complained about the lack of big names that made the celebrity lineup for the latest season of the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted game show.

While some viewers are disappointed with the lineup, it apparently wasn’t because of a lack of trying on the show’s production side.

According to an insider, the show “struggled” to land certain big names they were hoping to cast for this season.

Several big Hollywood names were approached to be contestants on the series, but they allegedly turned it down.

“Larry David was asked to come on. First, as a player and then, due to his relationship with some of the celebrity contestants, also as a lifeline.

“He was even asked to be a ‘phone-a-friend’ for one of the actresses who appears on this season.

“But Larry was replaced by another acclaimed actor when he also declined that role,” the source claimed.

While Larry, 78, doesn’t appear to be a big fan of appearing on game shows himself, he did incorporate an iconic series into his long-running Emmy winner, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

There is a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode from 2007 that centered around The Newlywed Game and features Larry, along with co-star Cheryl Hines, as their characters attempt to answer questions.

The current season of Millionaire kicked off with celebrity contestants Drew Carey and Aisha Tyler.

Unfortunately, they missed a question earlier on, but still walked away with $32,000 for charity.

Up next was perhaps the most high-profile matchup of the season.

Matt Damon, 54, teamed up with Jeopardy! superstar Ken Jennings, 51, for a jaw-dropping episode.

Both Matt and Ken impressed with their trivia knowledge and continued their game from episode one until episode two.

To little surprise, the duo dominated every question and made it all the way to the $1 million showstopper – which they also got right.

Their impressive run scored them a whopping $1m, which will be donated to their charity choice, water.org.

Rounding out the third episode were Jordan Klepper and Ronny Chieng – who lost on the $125,000 question and dropped down to bringing $32,000 back for their charity of choice.

On tonight’s August 6th episode, Joel McHale and Jim Rash for the first game, and Tramell Tillman and Zach Cherry playing the second game.

Next week, actors Adam Devine and Anders Holm will attempt to bring home seven-figures for charity.

Their run will be followed by Hacks stars, Helen Hunt and Dan Bucatinsky.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire hosts

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has on and off the air since 1999.

Here is a list of the hosts of the US game show:

    Regis Philbin
    Meridith Vieria
    Cedric the Entertainer
    Terry Crews
    Chris Harrison
    Jimmy Kimmel

Later in August, Kal Penn and Jameela Jamil will also be featured on Millionaire, followed by Gary Janetti and Brad Goreski.

Closing out the season will be Chloe Fineman and Jillian Bell.

Fans have complained that despite advertising a star-studded lineup, the contestants have been less than impressive.

“I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of less than half of these names,” someone complained while another added “so besides Ken and Matt, they’re being generous with the whole ‘celebrity’ title aren’t they?”

This season marks the fourth year that late-night host Jimmy, 57, has led the trivia show.

The late TV icon Regis Philbin first made the show famous in 1999 and hosted the program until 2002.

Over the years, a slew of other TV personalities have hosted the show, including Meredith Vieira, Cedric the Entertainer, Terry Crews, and Chris Harrison.

Was Jimmy Kimmel fired on live TV by ABC? Rumors explained

TWENTY years ago, Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show premiered on ABC and brought his fame to another level.

However, viewers wondered if the Emmy Award winner was actually fired after a skit with his co-host Guillermo went viral.

Was Jimmy Kimmel fired on live TV by ABC?

Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t fired from his late-night hosting gig. But fans speculated that he was after one of his show’s sketches went viral.

On April 24, 2023, Jimmy included CNN’s termination of Don Lemon in his opening monologue.

A breaking news bulletin then appeared where Jimmy’s co-host Guillermo jokingly announced that the comedian had been fired from his home network.

“This was a mutual decision. We want to say thank you to Jimmy Kimmel and his many, many contributions and wish him well in the future.

“On a personal note, I’d like to say to Jimmy; don’t let the door hit your a** on the way out, loser!”

Jimmy then mockingly reacted, “Wow, that’s one hell of a way to find out.”

“It could’ve been worse, I could’ve been traded to the Jets!”

Jimmy Kimmel fans misinterpreted a comedy skit where he was 'fired' from the show

    How did fans react?

An uncontextualized clip of the skit made its rounds on social media and earned mixed reactions from Jimmy Kimmel Live! fans.

On Twitter, one viewer questioned, “Is the rumor true about Jimmy Kimmel being fired from ABC?”

Another curious viewer asked, “Wait is Jimmy Kimmel getting fired forreal??? or apart of his skit/monologue?”

“Can someone please verify if the story about Jimmy Kimmel being fired is true or false?” pleaded a third fan.

In a February 20, 2024, interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kimmel hinted that his tenure as a talk show host might be ending.

He said, “I think this is my final contract,” after explaining how he was juggling his late-night gig with his upcoming Oscars hosting duties.

“In those moments, I think, ‘I cannot wait until my contract is over,’” he went on.

“But then, I take the summer off or I go on strike, and you start going, ‘Yeah, I miss the fun stuff.’”

Kimmel still has over two years left in his contract, which he described as, “Pretty good. That seems like enough.”

Neither ABC nor Kimmel has confirmed if he will in fact exit the long-running show at the end of his contract.

How can I watch Jimmy Kimmel Live?

Every Monday to Friday, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is broadcast daily at 11:35 pm EST via ABC.

The show premiered on January 26, 2003, and was recognized as the network’s longest-running late-night talk show.

After 23 seasons, Blake Shelton’s time on The Voice is coming to an end, and the country music superstar is feeling a bit emotional about his departure. Of course, he’s handling the change with his trademark wit and sense of humor, but the return of a fellow Oklahoman (and country music icon) has the singer feeling nostalgic.

Reba McEntire has joined the cast of The Voice as this season’s Mega Mentor, but it’s not her first time on the hit singing competition. The Grammy Award-winning artist has appeared alongside Blake on two previous seasons.

Blake shared a photo with Reba from season 23 along with one from the show’s premiere season back in 2011. The throwback photo had fans feeling emotional.

“My heart breaks for Blake’s departure. The Voice will never be the same. #TeamBlake 🥰”

“love you both, especially together 💕”

“Awww, ya’ll. Making me happy & sad at the same time!❤️”

    “I’m emotional 🤧”

“Crying in the (country) club 😭😭😭”

Other fans called for Reba to take Blake’s place when he departs the show: “Blake will be missed!!! Put Reba in his place❤️”

Long-time viewers of The Voice might be surprised to learn that Reba was offered the position of coach back in the show’s first season. She turned down the job and that seat ultimately went to Blake. Reba told ET, “It was a very popular show in Holland, I’m pretty sure, and I watched the tape, and I said, ‘No, I’m going to pass on that,’ because I don’t think I could ever be able to tell somebody that they’re terrible or go find another job or hope you like your nighttime job. I couldn’t do that day in and day out. I just couldn’t do it. So I did pass on it.”

Blake and Reba took a trip down memory lane watching clips from previous seasons. Reba appeared on The Voice in season 1 (2011) and season 8 (2015), and the duo watched footage from the episodes. Reba points out that things have changed on The Voice, but comments, “I think we’ve weathered very well.”

The singer made an appearance on fellow The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show, where the two revealed how excited fans are that she joined the panel.

After Kelly introduced her guest, the audience erupted in a lengthy applause prompting the host to comment that the star has received the same praise during tapings of The Voice.

“This is what it sounds like on The Voice when the coaches are coming out. That’s what it’s supposed to sound like for all of us,” Kelly confessed.

Ariana interjected and said, “Blake gets so pissed,” as Kelly joked, “Blake was like ‘I don’t want to follow her anymore.’”

The God is a Woman singer announced back in March that she would be one of the four judges, opposite Kelly, John Legend, and Blake.

Ariana tweeted the big news: “surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice! @nickjonas we will miss you.”

The pop star’s new co-workers began to welcome her into the fold.

Nick saluted his replacement, writing: “Congrats @ArianaGrande ! You’re going to kill it next season! Welcome to the family.”

Fellow judge John tweeted out: “So excited to welcome Ariana to our Voice family!!”

Ariana is taking over the chair from Nick, who joined as a coach in season 18 and returned again this past season.

This will Ariana’s first full-time TV judging gig.

She was previously a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race for a couple of episodes in 2015.

That same year, she and Nick starred together on the Fox horror-comedy series, Scream Queens, and now they’re both part of The Voice family.

    FIRE KELLY?

It’s clear by the crowd’s reactions that Ariana is the fan-favorite on the season this year as fans were also hoping that someone new would replace Kelly as well.

Some viewers called for the mother of two to not to return after her replacement Kelsea Ballerini made her coach debut during the battle rounds as Kelly was feeling “under the weather.”

While some took to Twitter to wish the hitmaker a quick recovery, not everyone wanted her to return so soon once they got a taste of the new coach.

One person wrote: “So glad you are working in place of Kelly. I hope they keep you and fire Kelly. You are so much better.”

Another added: “I wish Kelsea could stay,” while one chimed in, “it’s so nice not having Kelly there.”

The comments kept coming, as one wrote: “Think Kelly’s absence makes somehow makes the show more interesting.”
