Carson Daly Drops a Bombshell About ‘The Voice’—Fans Are Stunned by What He Revealed!

Carson Daly admits The Voice uses new coaches as a ‘selling tool’ after multiple cast exits including Blake Shelton

THE Voice host and producer Carson Daly has revealed that the success of the show isn’t solely dependent on which celebrity coaches that season.

Throughout The Voice’s 25 cycles, Carson has witnessed the coming and going of several music stars as coaches, including Blake Shelton.

Since The Voice debuted on NBC in 2011, the singing competition has been a staple in pop culture.

Captivating America in the same way as its predecessor, American Idol, The Voice, has developed a dedicated fanbase that supports the series.

And not just because their favorite celebrity happens to be sitting in the coaching chair.

When the program first premiered, The Voice coaches were Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green.

After season three, The Voice coaches began to rotate, and haven’t stopped since.

Blake, 47, one of the original Voice coaches, departed from the show for good after Season 23.

Carson explained to Yahoo Entertainment in a recent interview that The Voice’s strength doesn’t rely on who sits on the stage as a coach.

“We felt like we could survive that [revolving door], and we used it as a selling tool,” Carson said. “We’re losing Pharrell, but we’re getting Usher.’ We just made that work for us.”

He added: “When we launched, American Idol was so strong. The television singing competition marketplace was full.

“People thought we were crazy to put another singing show on. They thought we would only last maybe a year. It’s ironic that it’s lasted 25 seasons.”

    CHANGING IT UP

This season, which premiered on February 26, 2024, there have been slight change-ups.

Fans are used to tuning into The Voice on Monday and Tuesday nights.

However, fans won’t get a new episode of The Voice until Tuesday, April 2.

While The Voice does air on Monday, April 1, it will only be a recap leading into the show’s brief hiatus.

It’s not uncommon for there to be a break when heading into the live shows.

The remaining contestants have been competing in the Battle Round before judges John Legend, Chance the Rapper, Reba McEntire, and Dan + Shay.

    ‘GONE DOWNHILL’

Several fans vented their frustrations with the schedule switch-up online.

One viewer started the discussion on a The Voice-dedicated forum where they claimed the show wasn’t as entertaining as it used to be.

“I think part of the reason the show has gone downhill recently is cause of NBC. They give us two seasons a year but one is always super short and makes for a bad season cuz they rush it to make space for AGT (which I personally think is falling off too),” they explained, referencing the network’s other popular competition series, America’s Got Talent.

“The year when we only got season 22 was so much better because the format gave the artists more opportunities to perform and there weren’t a ton of people going home each round,” the user said.

The fan also added that having multiple country artists on the judges’ panel—Reba and Dan + Shay—wasn’t helping with viewership either.

This is the first season The Voice introduced a doubles coach seat with Dan + Shay.

The series usually includes one coach from a different genre of music to mix it up.

Other devoted watchers shared their thoughts about the changes in the thread.

“We have had two seasons a year for most of the shows run (2012-2021). The only seasons where had one season in a year was Season 1 and Season 22.

“I think it’s just a new scheduling issue because we didn’t have shortened seasons like this in the past,” one person said about the schedule change.

“Idk about y’all but I feel like the show genuinely fell off long ago,” another commented.

“I just think some of these shows stay on longer than they need to be,” a third noted.

“I’ve always said that they should get rid of the instant save, the block & the playoff pass (and maybe replace the Knockouts with more live shows) since they make the show less about the performers,” a fourth suggested.

Happy’s Place will introduce Reba McEntire‘s onscreen daughter in an upcoming episode of the new NBC sitcom.

Elizabeth Alderfer has been cast as Gracie, the daughter of McEntire’s character Bobbie on Happy’s Place. According to TV Line, Alderfer, 38, will make her first appearance halfway through season 1 and is described as a “no-nonsense, and somewhat tough” character.

“Gracie is in the military and has been deployed overseas,” the official character description read. “She has just gone on leave and is returning home to Knoxville to surprise her mother, only to be surprised herself to discover that she now has an aunt that she never knew she had.”

Happy’s Place, which premieres on Friday, October 18, follows Bobbie (McEntire) as she inherits her father’s restaurant and discovers a new business partner in the long-lost half-sister (Belissa Escobedo) she didn’t know she had. Melissa Peterman plays a bartender at the restaurant while McEntire’s boyfriend, Rex Linn, also appears as tavern cook Emmett.

The sitcom reunites McEntire, 69, and Peterman, 53, more than 17 years after their hit series Reba ended its run on The WB. In addition to McEntire and Peterman, the beloved show also starred Christopher Rich, JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Steve Howey, who has already been cast in a role in the Christmas episode of Happy’s Place.

“It’s a lot of fun. We absolutely want to bring some of the old cast members on — and in very different roles than what they played on Reba,” Kevin Abbott, an executive producer on Reba when it aired on The WB between 2001 and 2007, told TVLine earlier this month. “Steve’s our first one up, and we’re trying to figure out how to bring JoAnna in. We only want to have the old cast in if we can really utilize them in a fun, impactful way.”

In a recent cover story, McEntire recently spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about getting to work with Peterman again. (The duo previously reunited on CMT’s Working Class, Freeform’s Baby Daddy and Lifetime’s The Hammer.)

“[Reuniting with Melissa] was like riding a bike — there was a muscle memory. But we haven’t been apart ever since 2006 when Reba ended,” she shared in an October cover story. “There have been lots of times where she was out on tour with me opening the show for me — coming out and doing a bit in the middle of my concert. Fans love it.”

McEntire touched on the enduring impact Reba still has on viewers, to which she replied, “People related to it because there are many in that situation across the United States — teen pregnancy, moving in with mom, challenging things happening. But primarily, it’s the heart of it. It was funny, clever, mischievous, dorky, but it had a lot of heart.”

Happy’s Place premieres Friday, October 18, at 8 pm on NBC.

Reunion With Tim Allen — Watch Exclusive Sneak Peek

Mike and Vanessa Baxter are together again!

Nancy Travis is set to reunite with Last Man Standing hubby Tim Allen on Wednesday’s episode of Shifting Gears (ABC, 8/7c) — and TVLine has your exclusive first look.

As previously reported, Travis will guest-star as “spirited widow” Charlotte. In the episode, “a Valentine’s Day visit to his late wife’s grave sparks an unexpected connection for Matt (Allen) in an unlikely place,” and the following clip reveals the moment where Charlotte walks into his life.

The Home Improvement star’s latest multi-cam casts him as “the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop,” per the official logline. “When estranged daughter Riley (played by 2 Broke Girls‘ Kat Dennings) and her kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”

The Jan. 8 premiere revealed that it had been 15 years since Riley walked out of her parents’ house, bailed on college, and ran off with a deadbeat musician. Before now, she’d only ever been back for a few very awkward Christmases — and, more recently, her mother Diane’s funeral, after the love of Matt’s life died of a sudden heart attack.

Meanwhile, fellow Last Man vet Jay Leno will guest-star as himself in Shifting Gears’ penultimate Season 1 episode (airing Wednesday, March 12).

The first official trailer for ABC’s Shifting Gears previews Tim Allen’s newest family sitcom. The multi-cam comedy stars Allen as Matt, a widowed, stubborn owner of a classic car restoration shop whose life is upended when his estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her two kids move in with him. Shifting Gears‘ cast also includes American Pie‘s Seann William Scott, Daryl Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. The sitcom will premiere on January 8, 2025, at 8/7c on ABC before streaming the next day on Hulu.

Today, ABC dropped the first official trailer for Shifting Gears. In the trailer, Matt’s old-school values collide with Riley’s modern parenting style with lighthearted friction. Dennings, known for her comedic roles in 2 Broke Girls and Dollface, shines alongside Allen as the two display a mix of heartfelt moments and laugh-out-loud comedy in the working-class suburbs of Detroit. What Shifting Gears’ New Trailer Means

A Glimpse At ABC’s Next Family Sitcom Hit

The release of Shifting Gears‘ official trailer means ABC is preparing for the family sitcom’s premiere next month. As a comedy that balances generational clashes with family reconciliation, Shifting Gears seems like a promising new addition to ABC’s family show lineup. Allen’s character, Matt, grapples with the sudden responsibilities of fatherhood and being a grandparent after years of living alone. Dennings’ Riley brings a fresh dynamic to the scene as she navigates rebuilding her relationship with her father as a young parent of two kids and her history as a misbehaving teen.

The trailer teases plenty of comedic moments, from Matt playing video games with his new grandkids to Riley’s witty comebacks and attempts at family bonding. Shifting Gears‘ premise signals a thematic return to Allen’s roots in family-driven television, such as Last Man Standing and Home Improvement. With Allen and Dennings leading the charge, supported by a strong ensemble and new guest stars, Shifting Gears aims to deliver a relatable story for multi-generational families.

Shifting Gears marks a promising return for Tim Allen. The new trailer effectively sets the stage for what looks to be a comedic sitcom with touching moments of growth and connection for an unconventional family. Dennings brings an exciting new energy that complements Allen’s veteran presence well. ABC’s decision to debut Shifting Gears in January positions it as a potential midseason hit, bridging Allen’s established fanbase and comedic style with audiences drawn to Dennings’ offbeat wit and sharp tongue.

Why ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Will Never Return—The Heartbreaking Truth Behind Its Silence

Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton talk Everybody Loves Raymond reboot: ‘We’re all heartbroken’

Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton have reunited 20 years after Everybody Loves Raymond wrapped, revealing the sad reason why it will never get a reboot.

Everybody still loves Raymond — but when it comes to a revival, the Barone household just wouldn’t be the same.

Stars Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton are putting Everybody Loves Raymond reboot rumours to rest.

The pair weighed in on the topic while celebrating 30 years of the beloved sitcom at The Paley Museum in New York City on June 16.

The pair played husband and wife Raymond and Debra on the sitcom.

The series’ creator Phil Rosenthal and Maggie Wheeler (who had a guest role as Linda Gruenfelder) were also among those in attendance.

“No, there won’t be a reboot,” Romano, 67, exclusively told The Post on the red carpet of the anniversary event.

The actor noted that while there are a couple of reasons a revival isn’t possible, one stands out.

“The obvious is Peter [Boyle] and Doris [Roberts] and one of the kids — they’re no longer with us,” Romano said. “We’re all heartbroken. They’re a big part of the show, the dynamic.”

Everybody Loves Raymond ran for nine seasons from 1996 to 2005.

Boyle, who played Frank Barone, Romano’s on-screen father, died from multiple myeloma and heart disease in 2006 at the age of 71.

Roberts, Boyle’s TV wife and Romano’s mother, Marie Barone, died in 2016 at the age of 90.

Sawyer Sweeten, who portrayed one of Romano’s twin sons (Geoffrey Barone), died by suicide in 2015. He was 19.

“Without them, I don’t know what the dynamic is,” Romano added. “We love the show too much, we respect it too much to even try to do it.”

The ensemble also included Sullivan Sweeten (Michael Barone), Madylin Sweeten (Ally Barone), Brad Garrett (Robert Barone) and Monica Horan (Amy MacDougall-Barone).

“To try to do it again without the cast members that we’ve lost would be a disservice to the show,” Heaton, 67, told The Post, agreeing with Romano.

“You shouldn’t try to go back and redo something that is pretty much perfect,” Heaton went on. “We need to just leave it there and let people enjoy it for what it was.”

The actress explained that Romano and Rosenthal, 65, chose to end the series when they did because “they felt like they’d really done all of the stories.”

“They have a lot of integrity in that way,” Heaton said. “The network would have wanted us to go for three more years, but they didn’t want to run the show into the ground.”

Garrett told People something similar when asked whether there will be a revival.

“There won’t be,” he said at the premiere of Disney Pixar’s Elio in Los Angeles on June 10. “And I’m just saying that because that’s something that Ray and Phil [Rosenthal] have always said.”

“There is no show without the parents,” Garrett added. “They were the catalyst, and to do anything that would resemble that wouldn’t be right to the audiences or to the loyal fan base. And it was about two families, and you can’t get around that.”

Though he’s ruled out a revival, Romano said a reunion isn’t off the table.

“Will there be a reunion? That we would love to do,” the No Good Deed actor revealed to The Post. “I think we’re considering and working on that happening.”

Romano and Heaton reunited for the series’ 30th anniversary celebration, a kick-off event for The Paley Museum’s new exhibit, 30 Years of Everybody Loves Raymond: A Behind-the-Scenes Tribute.

Heaton got a sneak peek at the collection, which includes rare photos, videos, wardrobe and props, and called the experience “very overwhelming to see.”

“I really teared up because when you’re doing a show, you’re just trying to make the best episodes you can for that week,” Heaton told The Post, reflecting on her time making the sitcom.

“To do that, you’re not thinking about legacy,” she said. “You’re not thinking about a historical TV show, which I really feel like it’s become the new Honeymooners. People all over the world love this show, so it was really wonderful to be a part of it.”

Heaton starred as Debra Barone opposite Romano’s Ray Barone for all nine seasons of the CBS sitcom, which ran from 1996 to 2005. The role earned her back-to-back Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2000 and 2001.

Debra was a stay-at-home mum who often squabbled with her mother-in-law Marie, who just so happened to live across the street.

One of Debra’s most memorable storylines was when she cooked Ray lemon chicken on their first date, to which he replied, “I could eat this the rest of my life!”

He got his wish, as Debra went on to make it several times after they got married.

As for whether Heaton has whipped it up in real life, she quipped, “It’s now just my husband [David Hunt] and I — we’re empty nesters — but there’s nothing like a good lemon chicken.”

CBS initially wanted to cast a “hotter” actress to play Ray Romano’s wife on “Everybody Loves Raymond,” so says the show’s creator.

While Patricia Heaton ultimately starred as Ray Barone’s (Ray Romano) wife Debra in the series, creator Phil Rosenthal claims the network initially “wanted someone hotter to play Debra.”

Episodes of the popular sitcom that premiered in 1996 are still on-air today. Despite its success, Rosenthal claimed in a new interview with Yahoo! Entertainment that he “almost quit” the show because of CBS’ persistence in casting a particular actress for the role.

“They insisted on this actress. I thought she was wrong, but I met with her and she was a very pleasant, very nice person. She wasn’t going to read for the role, but during the meeting I convinced her to read a little bit with me, and she was 10 times worse for the part than I thought she would be!” Rosenthal claimed, without naming the actress.

Patricia Heaton is well known for her role as Debra Barone on ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’

After that, Rosenthal recalled proposing three picks for Debra, including CBS’ preference and two other actors. He said he went into a meeting with CBS executives, including former CEO Leslie Moonves, thinking he’d end up leaving it without a job.

“Again, I didn’t have Patty yet; I didn’t even know she existed. I did know that [Moonves] was going to say, ‘What about so-and-so,’ and if I don’t say, ‘Yes, let’s cast her,’ I won’t have a show. So that was the day I knew that I’d be quitting my own show,” he said.

However, Rosenthal’s suspicions turned out to be false. He proposed to execs that he believed they could “do better” in casting for the part and they were on board.

“In other words, [Moonves] let me slide and we agreed to keep looking! Two weeks later, Patty walked in and within five minutes she had the part. When it’s right, it’s right, and you know it immediately,” he said.

That wasn’t the only hoop Rosenthal jumped through to make the show a success. He revealed that he actually quit the gig before filming began when he learned he would be co-showrunner.

“I felt that person was still going to be in charge, and I’m not going to have any say in my own show. So I quit! I told them, ‘I quit, goodbye.’ It wasn’t because I was brave — I was actually s—-ing my pants because I quit the thing I loved.”

He would find out days later that he was named the sole showrunner for the series.

“I asked him why the sudden turnaround, and he told me, ‘[Moonves] liked how you handled that thing with so-and-so.’ It just goes to show you that if you stick to your guns — and maybe quit — they see you have some integrity. So my advice to young people is to always quit! I’m not saying quit on your first job, or if you’re dependent on it to be able to eat. But if it’s not your first job and it’s your own thing, that’s when you get to show your integrity. I can’t tell you how many shows have been ruined by the writers taking every note from the network and the studio and then the network goes, ‘This isn’t very good.’”

“Everybody Loves Raymond” also starred Peter Boyle, Doris Roberts and Brad Garrett.

[VERY SAD] ‘The Price is Right’ long-time members SAYS GOODBYE and parted ways, host Drew Carey having an EMOTIONAL MOMENT

The environment on the sets of “The Price is Right” is always energetic and competitive, but emotions also run high, and over-the-top celebrations by contestants are a manifestation of that. Things also got sentimental in an earlier episode of “The Price is Right,” when one of the long-time members of the team said goodbye and parted ways. This person was like a mentor to Carey, and the host could not help but shed tears as he bid farewell.

This person’s name was Scott Robinson, and he was the one who played the role of contestant as Carey was learning the games in his early days as the host of the show. The two worked together for countless hours and developed a strong bond. The host was used to seeing Robinson on set, so his departure was a big deal. When it was time to say goodbye, the emotions were just too much to be contained.

“When I first started the show and I was learning all the games, Scott was my contestant for every single game. He taught me every single game on The Price is Right, all 70-plus of them. He knows everything about ‘The Price is Right’ there is. I love this guy so much, and this is his last show. I love you so much,” he said while choking up. The two embraced each other immediately afterward, showcasing their love for each other.

Fans loved the moment and let their feelings be known in the comments section on YouTube. “Aw, that was sweet. I’m sure Drew saw him as a kind of mentor and valued him as friend. Props to Drew for being a real man and showing actual emotion,” one user commented. “Awww, that’s so endearing. It’s nice to see people not afraid to show they give a crap about someone else,” another added.

This is not the only emotional moment Carey has shared on the set of “The Price is Right.” On one occasion, he made a young fan’s dreams come true. That was pretty emotional to watch as well. The young man’s name was Carter and he was a big fan of the show. He showed a lot of composure to be on that stage in front of all those people. Carter even had a letter that he had written for the veteran host.

“How are you feeling? I went to CBS Studios with my mom, I watched people play games, we did everything I wanted…I watched them play The Price is Right…this is a letter of the future. We did so much stuff together, I wish I could watch the Showcase Showdown and spin the wheel. It was so cool. I hope you write me back soon. Your friend, Carter,” Carey said as he read the letter out loud.

He then proceeded to hug Carter, which drew a loud reaction from the studio audience. “God bless Drew Carey,” one user commented. Moments like these have made “The Price is Right” one of the most loved shows in the country today.

Vanna White will be leaving behind some big shoes to fill when she eventually bids farewell to Wheel of Fortune.

Though the longtime TV presenter hasn’t hinted at any plans to leave the beloved game show anytime soon, she was recently asked in an interview about who her future successor might be and what advice she would give them before taking on the iconic role.

During a conversation with Forbes for this year’s edition of their annual 50 Over 50 list, White, 68, was asked if she can envision someone taking over her WOF role once she leaves, telling the outlet she’s “not sure” about the possibility of a successor for her role, though she thinks it “should be up to the audience.”

White did, however, have a clear response when asked about advice she would pass on to whoever might replace her one day, telling them, “Be yourself, and know the entire alphabet!”

White has been turning letters on the WOF stage since 1982 when she took over for Susan Stafford, just one year after Pat Sajak replaced the show’s original host, Chuck Woolery.
